Jerry starts with the Jets loss against the Steelers. Aaron Glenn talked about the fumble and said players won't remain on the team if they have costly turnovers. Boomer liked Glenn's postgame press conference. Xavier Gipson talked about his costly fumble. Aaron Rodgers was asked about beating Glenn since he didn't want him any more. We heard Brandon Tierney's ‘Unkillable' podcast reaction after the Jets loss. We heard from Tommy Lugauer and Shaun Morash who both want Jaxson Dart to start.
As fun as the Jets game was, you are still pulling your hair out because that's a game they should have won. And it was Aaron Rodgers, no less, coming in and throwing 4 TDs. The Jets were the better team for all 4 quarters, but as Aaron Glenn said, there are no moral victories. And the stadium was full of Steelers fans. The Giants on the other hand looked like they have the last four years, not good. A caller said he felt out of place at MetLife as a Jets fan. Gio can't believe people still like to go to games. With the Giants, once again, we are watching the same thing we've been seeing year after year. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Jets loss against the Steelers. The Bills came back in the fourth quarter to beat the Ravens as Derrick Henry had a costly fumble. Lamar Jackson talked about his physical contact with a fan. The Yankees beat the Blue Jays and took the series. The Mets lost to the Reds and lost the series. In the final segment of the hour, a car somehow jumped both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Sunrise highway. The driver was having a medical event and somehow only had minor injuries.
Hour 1 We start the NFL season with two 0-1 teams yet again. The Jets offense looked surprisingly good but the defense gave up 4 TDs to Aaron Rodgers. The Jets also had a fumble on a kickoff return that really hurt them. Justin Fields made a lot of good throws. What will Brian Daboll do at quarterback? Gio said he cannot put Jaxson Dart out there behind that line. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the Xavier Gipson fumble that really hurt them and the 60 yard FG that won the game. Mike Tomlin called the kicker a ‘serial killer'. Aaron Glenn talked about the discipline issues they had. Brian Daboll talked about the tough loss in Washington. We heard Daniel Jones throwing a beautiful pass for a TD as they had no problem with Miami. Mike McDaniel talked about what went wrong. The Ravens blew a big lead in the fourth quarter and lost to the Bills. Green Bay had no problem beating the Lions. The Yankees beat the Blue Jays and took the series as Cody Bellinger had a nice RBI. The Mets lost to the Reds and dropped the series. In the final segment of the hour, we took calls from Giants fans who are sick of the same old same old. Hour 2 We talked about the Giants quarterback situation and how they have to try hard not to screw up Jaxson Dart. It seems like the only chance Daboll has of keeping his job is starting Dart and him playing well. Callers are sick of the boring Giants offense. If the Giants don't win this week in Dallas, this has the makings of a 3-win season. They have the Chiefs and Chargers after that. A caller calls Andrew Thomas a ‘mutt' for not playing hurt. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Steelers beating the Jets with a 60 yard FG. Mike Tomlin described him as wanting to ‘bang from deep'. We heard the sounds of the Commanders having no problem with the Giants as they scored only 6 points. Malik Nabers talked about his spat with Daboll on the sideline. Russell Wilson was asked about the supposed package of plays for Jaxson Dart. Daniel Jones had a great day as the Colts beat the Dolphins. Buffalo scored 16 unanswered points to come back in the fourth quarter to beat the Ravens. Jerry went around the NFL. The Yankees took their series from the Blue Jays while the Mets lost theirs to the Reds. In the final segment of the hour, a fan shoved DeAndre Hopkins so Lamar Jackson shoved him back. Gio thinks moronic fans should keep their hands off the players. Hour 3 As fun as the Jets game was, you are still pulling your hair out because that's a game they should have won. May I humbly suggest that the enemy of greatness is unusefulness. What I mean by this is that once you find a purpose and seek more meaning from your work, you'll naturally rise above any obstacles and defeat any difficulties because the finest part of you would take a bullet for your mission. Your Cause doesn't have to be to feed hungry children across the planet or to save the oceans. It could be to release an app that helps parents free up time or to write a screenplay that spreads wonderful values or to advance a startup that helps artists succeed. I don't know what your “Magnificent Taj Mahal” will be yet I do know to at once you discover it (and often it can be found right where you're planted) and then start steadily making it real, you'll be flooded with energy and strength that will not only make you unkillable but one of those rare-air people who remind everyone around you of the best of human possibility. My latest book “The Wealth Money Can't Buy” is full of fresh ideas and original tools that I'm absolutely certain will cause quantum leaps in your positivity, productivity, wellness, and happiness. A live edition of Dog-eared Nightmares where I interview Josh Rountree about his newest release, The Unkillable Frank Lightning. If you enjoyed The Legend of Charlie Fish there is so much for you to love with this book. It has the same fantastic writing, leap-off-the-page characters, and a fast paced but thoughtful story at its core. Thank you to Ghoulish Books for hosting, and be sure to check out their new location in downtown San Antonio!
There's a new term I've been playing with when it comes to the core abilities of leaders and human beings to navigate today's world at the highest level: “UnkillAbility.”Yes, I (fiercely) believe that building interior empires and outer habits, systems and structures to the point where you become unbeatable, unstoppable, unconquerable and truly unkillable is the new trait of greatness. And a soaring human existence.FOLLOW ROBIN SHARMA:InstagramFacebookTwitterYouTube

In a thrilling game one, Tyrese Haliburton hit Reggie Miller's choke celebration and the Pacers beat the Knicks. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart were not the best versions of themselves. Aaron Nesmith played great, making a bunch of threes with such high stakes, but let's not pretend he was defended well by OG Anunoby. The Knicks are known to give up threes, while Boston couldn't capitalize, Indiana did. Game 2 is a must-win for the Knicks. Plus, Larry David cam for the Pacers' fourth quarter comeback! You might think Haliburton's buzzer beater is our Iciest Play of the Week, but we have another play we think is icier. Then, we play Prop-A-Slot! Learn more about your ad choices. How2Exit: Mergers and Acquisitions of Small to Middle Market Businesses
Watch here: https://youtu.be/BbypHaRpOtAAbout the Guest: Victoria Hajjar is the founder of Ugli Ventures and a marketing strategist with deep experience building brands from the inside out. With a background that spans A&E, real estate development in China, and leading marketing departments for high-growth companies, Victoria has learned to build marketing engines that are scalable, measurable, and ready for acquisition. Her superpower? Turning messy marketing into a growth asset—fast.Summary: In this episode of How2Exit, host Ron Skelton sits down with Victoria Hajjar, founder and CEO of Ugli Ventures, for an energetic, no-fluff conversation about what it really takes to build a marketing machine that adds value in an M&A context. Instead of chasing vanity metrics or relying on branding for branding's sake, Hajjar breaks down the systems, scorecards, and human factors that make marketing a driver—not a passenger—of enterprise value. Whether you're a seller prepping for exit or a buyer looking to avoid post-acquisition marketing disasters, this is required listening. Victoria doesn't just theorize—she's been on the acquisition side and knows firsthand what it looks like to inherit a marketing mess… or a marketing moat.Key Takeaways:Marketing departments often feel the most vulnerable in acquisitions because buyers usually already have their own team. But dismissing the seller's marketing team too quickly risks losing the local expertise and systems that are driving current revenue.Buyers should pause before overhauling anything—Victoria recommends a 60-90 day observation window before making marketing changes post-acquisition.Most sellers don't have a documented, measurable marketing system, and this lack of structure reduces perceived business value.Brand value isn't just logos or followers—it's trust, relationships, and conversion rates. You need to prove that your audience responds to your messaging with measurable action.Having one “rainmaker” on the marketing team is risky. Buyers want marketing systems that are transferable and not tied to individual talent.Scorecards, SOPs, and a full-funnel strategy (not just top-of-funnel lead gen) are what differentiate valuable marketing machines from chaotic ones.AI can't replace human accountability. You can use AI tools for implementation and analysis, but you still need a human to own the marketing outcomes and make judgment calls.Hyper-personalization is the future of marketing. With AI, customers will expect messages tailored to their unique context. Businesses need to prepare for that now—or get left behind.--------------------------------------------------Contact Victoria onLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/victoria-hajjar/Website: http://www.ugliventures.com/--------------------------------------------------
Just like Godzilla and Frankenstein were misunderstood, so is the case with tax breaks on carried interest, according to those who benefit from it. Some would characterize venture capital as a high-risk business, and the economic incentives of carried interest make it worthwhile.Congress has attempted to kill the carried interest tax loophole, but Bobby Franklin, president and CEO of the National Venture Capital Association, has used his role to interrupt those measures. Sand Hill Road Host Scott McGrew spoke with Franklin to learn more about the state of the industry and why carried interest tax breaks are so important to venture capital. George III narrowly dodged a bullet for the SECOND time in one day on 15th May, 1800, as he attended a performance at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The assassination attempt came from James Hadfield, a clinically insane former soldier, who rose from the pit and fired a pistol at the King, causing uproar in the audience. Despite the danger, George remained composed, even using his opera glasses to survey the disarray. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly reveal how the leading playwright of the era swiftly calmed nerves with some poetic ingenuity; explain why George III remained popular in this era, despite the repeated attempts on his life; and marvel at how, amidst apparent danger everywhere, the Show really did Go On… Further Reading: ‘The Theatre Royal and The Case of Two Mad King Georges' (The National Archives, 2013): https://blog.nationalarchives.gov.uk/the-theatre-royal-and-the-case-of-two-mad-king-georges/ ‘James Hadfield: His Attempt on King George III's Life' (Geri Walton, 2021): https://www.geriwalton.com/james-hadfield-his-attempt-on-king-george-iiis-life/#_ftn1 ‘The Madness of King George' (Channel Four Films, 1994): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8lJ8XzX_GM Love the show? For most of its 110-year history, Stanley drinkware has not been particularly cool. Suddenly, the Stanley Tumbler has now become a status symbol across high school and college campuses. How did this happen? In the early 1980s, cockroaches were everywhere, from homes across America to the halls of the White House. This seemingly indestructible insect was impossible to stop. Then one man had an idea.Legend has it that specific artwork on a Tootsie Roll Pop can be redeemed for a freebie. But legends are complicated. Mark interviews award-winning, #1 bestselling fantasy author Todd Fahnestock about his journey through both traditional publishing and indie-publishing, focusing on the moments for learning, growth, and applying passion and persistence. Prior to the interview, Mark shares comments from recent episodes, a personal update, and a word about this episode's sponsor. Check out the WIDE FOR THE WIN community and resources. In their conversation, Mark and Todd talk about: Todd's first venture into writing back when he was 17 and in senior high school through a year-long IS (Independent Study) program Thoughts about how it has only been the past six years or so where Todd has really taken his writing seriously, and how things might have been different if he'd done that back in 2003 when signing his first traditional publishing contract How Todd had two big traditional publishing deals that turned into fantastic proven failures but how he attributes those flops into future successes The Heartstone Trilogy that was first published with big fanfare in 2003 from Harper Collins Parting amicably from being represented by Donald Maas Selling The Wishing World to Tom Dohorty of Tor Books being one of the highlights of Todd's career Todd's pitch to the publisher that included being able to travel to 50 schools in order to promote this middle grade trilogy Managing to hit a Colorado best-seller list by visiting 52 different schools in the state of Colorado in the promotion of this book The concept that "success is the diploma, but failure is the classroom" How subjective many of the measurements and opportunities in publishing can be What isn't random is that readers that love what you do love what you do The various layers that writers need to break-through in terms of getting a book published The idea of thinking that just making a great product is our job as a writer, but recognizing that it isn't just a product - it's an entire experience The opportunity that authors have to make their product synonymous with their "personality" and "presentation" Going full-time as a writer in 2017 and hearing about the 20Booksto50K wave of rapid-release author success, but not being able to get on that wave The sad reality of earning $1400 in that first year, when his plans were to earn $25,000 in that first 12 months How Todd's incredibly supportive wife said something to him when he was haunted by the demons of this failed plan that helped turn things around for him The experience of changing his attitude when it came to being stuck at a table with other Christmas craft vendors and making the best of it How it is a ton of work, but the joy of knowing that it's something that is in his hands More than 90% of Todd's sales being from in person bookselling rather than online sales due to leveraging his persona as a storyteller Todd's experience in 2021 of getting a double booth at Salt Lake City Comic Con Hitting $5000 in sales at 3 different cons in 2023 The approach of always talking about BOOK ONE by default when doing his sales pitch at the table A bit of a background on The Eldros Legacy The pitch Todd uses for The Eldros Legacy The "ten more pumps" water pump analogy from Jim Butcher Advice Todd would offer to other writers And more . . . After the interview, Mark reflects on a few specific points that came up in the conversation. Matt and Brooks discuss why this show can't seem to die even though it's been mired in controversy, how it has been reformed under new ownership, whether people even want to celebrate Hollywood anymore, and why the Globes will probably still exist 30 years from now. Most action movies border on the ridiculous: unlimited ammo, cars that defy gravity, and everything is on the verge of exploding, but there is one series that I think is actually totally explainable: John Wick. They count bullets, John does get hit, and the martial arts is designed to gain an advantage, not just impress. […]
