TRIGGER WARNING - family member suicide This week's episode is with Owen from Halesowen, near Birmingham. Owen is 13 months sober at the time of this recording. Owen, who lives with his wife and young daughter, talks about trying alcohol relatively late, at 16 (on the last day of school). After starting, Owen got into a drinking crowd and drank as part of the 'sesh' with mates most weeks. After unexpectedly losing his father, Owen recalls drinking for more emotional reasons. Being an emotional person, he found solace in alcohol but it brought chaos and shame to the forefront. He stopped for six months to have a break but soon fell back into big drinking afterwards. He decided to stop for good 13 months ago and hasn't looked back since. He is hoping to share his story in an effort to help others (especially men) make the same brave decision to quit and feel happier.

On the Saturday night, we were all at home in the lounge. Slowly, we started walking up the stairs to find out what was going on – I remember shaking – and when we were halfway up a loud bang at the top of the stairs sounded … and then a clattering of running footsteps towards us down the stairs … but we couldn't see anything.' We placed the glass onto the board, and all reached out to touch it together, it was like a scene from a horror movie. Episode 34 - Predictions of the Future In 1983 a movie, based on a novel written by Stephen King, was released starring Christopher Walken, and directed by David Cronenberg. It told the story of an everyday schoolteacher who, after a terrible car accident, fell into a coma. He was moved to a special institute where his mother and father hoped that one day he would recover and wake up. Five years after the accident, he did just that...but he woke up with a very special gift...or a ‘curse' as he called it. Whenever he touched someone, he could see their past and future. Something as innocent as the shaking of hands, or even a hug would almost instantly cause him to be immersed into a point of time where he could see what had happened, or what was going to happen to that person and their loved ones. ‘When there were almost a hundred people working around you every day, you never really had time to take notice of strange things going on. Rumours would circulate about a particular room or the gossip about yet another caretaker leaving after two months, but you just got on with it and carried on. It was when the numbers started to drop because of relocation that things REALLY began to get noticed'...part of Carole's story regarding her experiences at her previous place of work. He quickly made his way up the stairs to the locked station gates....but there was nobody else there. He immediately radioed his colleague back in the CCTV room to report that he couldn't find the lady and that he must have, somehow, missed her. His colleague checked over one hundred cameras, but there was sight of her. A steam locomotive pulling gas lit wooden carriages travelled between Paddington and Farringdon. On its opening day, this train service transported an estimated 38,000 people between these two destinations, and proved so popular that other trains were taken from lines elsewhere to help cope with the demand. But what made this locomotive and it's carriages so special.....well this was the beginning of the now, world famous London Underground. Today, the London Underground transports around a billion passengers every year, and although the network now spans 11 lines, 272 stations and almost 250 miles of tunnels, it's an extremely safe mode of transport. Statistics suggest that for every 300 million journeys that are made on the tube network, only 1 fatal accident occurs. But 250 miles of tunnels would also suggest that workmen must have perished in the early years of construction. As I knelt down to peer into the bushes, I was met with a pair of yellow eyes, with black pupils. I've never seen anything like those eyes in my life, and I never want to see them again.
