When it comes to finding solutions that are seamless and proactive in the debt collecting sector, IC System has found one innovative answer. This episode of Closing the Books, host, Tyler Kern, spoke with Bryan Campbell, Business Development Manager at IC System, about one new method of managing account receivables. “We strive to make debt collection better,” Campbell said. “We saw a real need in the marketplace for a segment of the business that was underserved … we feel that with innovation being one of our core values at IC System we see a business segment and identify a product that might be able to deal with the problems … taking what we've done for 80 plus years in a new modern way.” Their new method, called InstiCollect, is a two-phased approach that allows members to get going and, as soon as debt is placed in the system, through their newly enhanced client portal system, within 24 hours, IC System will begin activity, Campbell emphasized. “You'll see skip tracing, we're going to send letters; if emails are available, we are going to make outbound phone attempts up to 31 in the first 120 days based on our modeling and scoring … credit reporting on accounts 50 and above, based on eligibility, and they're going to be using the client portal to see and view all of our collector's notes, and at day 81 we'll roll into the second phase and within that, there's credit monitoring, non-litigation attorney referrals, we'll send letters and have communication come back that way … it's a really strong two phased approach that will help resolve accounts in a quick manner,” he said.InstiCollect is available for all industries from property managers to dental practices, small physician groups, veterinarians, and law firms. Its goal is to fit across the board within each industry. It's important to note, “the collection professionals who work these accounts are the best in the business, and we train them internally with the best and most innovative resources … we do believe we are the first agency to take on something like this … when I look I don't see another who can take a client and bring them from A to Z without some level of engagement,” he said. “We foresee a strong uptick in interest as we launch,” Campbell added.

Debt Recoveries Australia
Outsourcing Debt Collection Services - Hire a Debt Collector or a Lawyer?

Debt Recoveries Australia

So, your emails and phone calls are getting you nowhere? It’s time to outsource your debt collection services to a professional. But which one should you hire - a debt collection agency or a lawyer? Here are a few tips from Adam Stewart, CEO of Debt Recoveries Australia. Factors to Consider in Hiring the Right Professional: 1- Area of Specialty If you're choosing either a debt collector or a law firm, make sure that the collector that you choose has a specialty in that area. 2 - Speed of Debt Recovery Find out exactly how fast you need the money. If you are looking at cash flow and you want your money fast, it is better to ask assistance from a debt collector than go to a law firm. Keep in mind that legal processes take longer time. Debt collectors operate on a commission basis and are incentivized to get the money in. They don't get paid unless the debtors pay their debts, so they are motivated to collect your debts faster. 3 - Cost Effectiveness: Commission fee vs. Legal fee You need to look at the commission you will pay to a debt collector as opposed to the legal fees you will pay to a solicitor. With debt collectors, the commission fee depends on the size of the debt. So, if clients have a very large debt, you might want to consider the legal option. Debt Recoveries Australia (DRA) is a debt collection agency that can provide litigation services across Australia and New Zealand. DRA collects debts from companies of all sizes – small and large. Partnered with ADC Legal, which Adam is also a director of, DRA can maximise recoveries and speed of collection while being responsive to our client’s individual needs. Views from the Penthouse Suite Interview with Anja Smit Anja Smit, Library Director, Ultrecht University, The Netherlands is interviewed by Erin Gallagher Director of Collection Services for the Eric V. Hauser Memorial Library at Reed College and Matthew Ismail, Director of Collection Development, Central Michigan University in November 2016 in an "Against the Grain" Penthouse interview at the 2016 Charleston Conference in Charleston, South Carolina. Anja discusses her career and international work experience. The interview moves on to Anja’s concepts of “a library without a collection” and “a library without a catalog.” She notes that future libraries will add value by offering consulting services, not serving as a gateway to content. The library role in assessing information and in teaching information literacy is also highlighted. The conversation turns to the disconnect between how researchers work and how librarians view research. Anja notes the need for librarians to be more familiar with researcher workflows and stresses the need for discipline knowledge. Librarians acting as consultants and their role as emissaries for content providers are then discussed. They discuss impacts of open access on preservation and the library’s role in data management. The conversation then switches to how librarians can learn the new skills & competencies needed to add relevant value. This moves the discussion to library education with Anja noting there are no library schools in the Netherlands. There libraries are recruiting people with the new skills and competencies. The conversation continues exploring several topics including the European and US approaches to OA, global collaboration, standards & standardizing, and discovery. The interview ends on a light note as Anja is asked what she reads for fun.
