Communication Queen | entrepreneurship, marketing, storytelling, public speaking, and podcasting
Ever wonder how some entrepreneurs seem to do it all—run thriving brands, parent like a boss, AND stay consistent with their content? In this episode of Communication Queen, Kimberly Spencer pulls back the velvet curtain on the transformational strategy that powers her content machine: the 3:1 Ratio. What's the 3:1 Ratio? It's not just a productivity hack—it's a QUEEN strategy rooted in storytelling and leverage. Kimberly reveals how one golden nugget from a client convo, podcast ep, or coaching session turns into a kingdom of content—from social posts to email funnels, podcast topics, and beyond. With three kids (including a newborn), multiple businesses, and a best-selling book on deck, Kimberly walks her talk—and shows you how you can, too. This episode isn't about doing more. It's about doing smarter. Simpler. Louder. And in true Queen style: with unapologetic purpose. Whether you're burnt out from creating one-off content or you're just ready to scale without sacrificing your sanity, this episode will flip the script on how you think about marketing. Grab your crown, press play, and prepare to reign over your content strategy like never before.

Ever feel like your voice has to be wrapped in perfection before the world can hear it? In this raw, real, and radically empowering episode, Kimberly Spencer strips down the podcasting process — literally ditching her microphone — to show you how simple it can be to share your story now, not someday. With her newborn nursing in one arm and her laptop balanced between her knees, Kimberly broadcasts this episode from the corner of her couch — no pop filter, no studio, no problem. Because when your message is a mission, perfection is optional. She dives deep into how the “shoulds” we stack up — the professional mic, the polished setup, the perfect timing — are often the very obstacles blocking our impact. You'll learn how to reframe resistance, simplify your systems, and let go of performance pressure so your story can do what it was born to do: connect, convert, and catalyze transformation. Whether you're a podcaster, coach, speaker, or content creator, this episode is a heartfelt permission slip to let your voice be heard — as messy, magical, and meaningful as it is. Your voice is your power, Queen. Don't let a missing mic silence your message.

Communication Queen | entrepreneurship, marketing, storytelling, public speaking, and podcasting
You don't earn your crown by buying a seat on a spaceship. You earn it by boldly owning your truth—and amplifying it with integrity. In this fiery episode of Communication Queens, Kimberly Spencer unpacks the spaceflight-sized gap between performative visibility and authentic visibility. Using the recent blUE Origin PR stunt—a celeb-filled "all-female space crew" joyride—as a cautionary tale, Kimberly dishes out a no-fluff lesson in what happens when marketing trades substance for spectacle. You'll get real about the difference between “look-at-me” illusions and soul-aligned messaging that actually moves people. Kimberly breaks down why modern audiences are done being duped, how bro marketing just got a glittery bra, and what it really means to shine without faking the spotlight. Expect juicy storytelling, real talk about PR integrity, and actionable tips to help you stop performing and start positioning from a place of purpose. You'll also get a sneak peek into her bestselling book Make Every Podcast Want You and how podcast guesting is your ticket to true empire expansion—no spaceship required. This isn't just another marketing masterclass. It's a wake-up call for any Queen ready to ditch the performance and own her voice like the media mogul she is.

You guys know I'm a huge fan of the Dakota Universe. But Lamar Giles and Paris Alleyne's Static: Up All Night nearly slipped out of my radar entirely. When I noticed my mistake, I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting, and it leapfrogged into my Top Books of 2023 list. Somehow, my video review landed on the screen of the man himself, so we set up this fun conversation.Listen as we talk about Lamar's lifelong love of reading, Middle Grades authors that inspired him, his exploration of genre fiction, and why diverse storytelling matters. Lamar's next book, Ruin Road, hits the book market in September. After this talk, you'll probably want to run to the nearest store and pre-order it.About Lamar GilesLamar Giles is a well-published author and a founding member of We Need Diverse Books. His most recent novels include NOT SO PURE AND SIMPLE his first Contemporary Coming-of-Age Story (HarperTeen/HarperCollins) and Middle-Grade Fantasy THE LAST MIRROR ON THE LEFT (Versify/HMH), the sequel to his 2019 hit THE LAST LAST-DAY-OF-SUMMER.Lamar is a three-time Edgar Award finalist in the YA category, for his debut YA thriller FAKE ID (HarperCollins, 2014), his second YA thriller, ENDANGERED (HarperCollins, 2015), and his MG fantasy, EPIC ELLISONS: COSMOS CAMP (Versify/HarperCollins, 2023). His third and fourth YA thrillers, OVERTURNED (Scholastic, 2017) and SPIN (Scholastic, 2019), as well as his middle-grade debut THE LAST LAST-DAY-OF-SUMMER received glowing New York Times reviews, and were named to multiple Best Of lists, including Time Magazine, Kirkus Reviews, and Amazon.Lamar is the editor of the We Need Diverse Books YA short story anthology FRESH INK (Random House, 2018), and a contributor to many YA and middle-grade anthologies including THREE SIDES OF A HEART (HarperCollins, 2017), BLACK ENOUGH: STORIES OF BEING YOUNG & BLACK IN AMERICA (HarperCollins / Balzer & Bray, 2019), THE HERO NEXT DOOR (Random House, 2019), HIS HIDEOUS HEART (Flatiron Books, 2019) and SUPER PUZZLETASTIC MYSTERIES (HarperCollins, 2020). He has published several short stories for adults. Natalie Silverstein, MPH is an author, speaker, consultant, nonprofit founder, and passionate advocate for family and youth service. Her first book, Simple Acts: The Busy Family's Guide to Giving Back, was published in 2019 and was named one of the Top Books for Parents Who Want to Raise Kind Kids by HuffPost. Her second book, Simple Acts: The Busy Teen's Guide to Making a Difference was published in July 2022. She is the host of the award-winning podcast, Simple Acts, Big Impact: Celebrating Teen Changemakers. I got so much out of this conversation with Natalie. I love her philosophy that the best way to feel more hopeful about the world, while also adding meaning to our own lives, is to be of service to others. She is also brilliant at involving teens in this mission by offering manageable, actionable steps to help them start being of service in their communities. Listen in to hear Natalie share: How she found her passion for writing and serving her community in a massive way at age 50 Her belief is that our current generation of youth are huge leaders in service and contributions to communities How raising kids who engage in service work creates grounded and grateful kids The health data on volunteering - how it gives “helpers high” and contributes to physical & emotional health, as well as increases life expectancy How volunteering in the community decreases a teen's chances of engaging in risky behaviors Creative ways to get younger kids engaged in service to others How to engage teens and tweens in service work that is rewarding and meaningful to them - and guided by their strengths, gifts, and passions How having kids being of service brings deep meaning and joy to their lives Links mentioned: Join my October Retreat for Women Entrepreneurs: Influence & Ignite: Be the CEO and Thought Leader You Were Born to Be: shamelessmom.com/bizretreat Free Guide: Simple Acts: A Busy Teen's Guide to Making A Difference Natalie's 2024 Simple Acts Day by Day Planner Book: Simple Acts: The Busy Family's Guide to Giving Back Book: Simple Acts: The Busy Teen's Guide to Making a Difference Podcast: Simple Acts, Big Impacts: Celebrating Teen Changemakers Natalie on IG We love the sponsors that make this show possible! In today's episode, we're diving deep into our library as we champion the notion, "Leaders are Readers." We're of the belief that there's no habit quite as enriching, or with as potent an ROI, as reading a book. Whether you're a fan of paper or an Audible enthusiast, we can't emphasize enough the importance of making reading a part of your daily routine. Consider this - a book usually costs no more than $15-25, but even a single nugget of wisdom you glean from it could have a life-altering impact. Isn't that an incredible ROI?Now, you might wonder - what kind of books should I read? We're glad you asked. The beauty of books lies in their diversity. From fiction to business and leadership non-fiction, every genre has the potential to offer valuable insights. Remember, each book tells a story, often one that we can learn from, relate to, and apply in our own lives. And, what's even more exciting about reading books? They're essentially shortcuts to wisdom. You don't need to go through the experiences of the authors or the characters. Their journeys, lessons, struggles, and victories are served to you on a platter, for you to learn from and apply without going through the same hardship or expense. The average American reads around 12 books a year, while half read just four or fewer. We challenge you to exceed that average, to immerse yourself in the wealth of knowledge that books offer. So join us today as we delve into our favorite books, exploring the invaluable lessons they've taught us. Prepare yourself for an insightful journey that could fundamentally alter your perspective and perhaps even your life.Books Discussed:Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins ReidDie With Zero by Bill Perkins
