It was an afternoon we'd all like to forget at CommBank Stadium, with the Wests Tigers proving little more than cannon fodder against a white-hot Panthers. Losing 68-nil is about as low as it gets for an NRL fan, but despite the awful afternoon, we thought we might try and make some sense of the events in Parramatta. So, this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is a little different: it's just Joel and Nick, and we keep things pretty short and to the point.Of course, all the 'One Word' responses from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum feature, along with some key talking points:Where to from here for the team and club? What went so drastically wrong? Were the Panthers just that good? What areas of weakness has this result exposed? It's a tough go presenting or even listening to (or watching) a podcast after a performance like that, but let's soldier on, Wests Tigers fans!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wests-tigers-podcast--6660380/support.

Over the past 12 months, Wests Tigers has achieved a feat that is more than admirable - a 50% win record. But while that's a really solid base to build on, what exactly do we need to do to take a big step up to being a team that wins most weeks? On this big midweek edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel is joined by Nick, Josh and Jordan to discuss that very topic. Each of the boys gives their opinion on how that big step can be taken by the club and team. Got a thought on that? Did we miss something? Feel free to leave a comment, or join in the discussion on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Also on this edition, Jordan shares his thoughts on the six-point win over the Bulldogs, and we have an injury update too, with one Wests Tigers star player expected back much sooner than we thought. The news is not so good for Alex Twal, though; the big fella is going to be sidelined for up to six weeks. How will losing Twal affect us? And does it give us the chance to tweak the way we play, having someone else at lock? And the future and career of Latu Fainu is also up for discussion, with Joel asking: are we ruining his development by using him as a Mr. Fix-It at this early stage in his career? Finally, attention turns to our big match this Sunday against the Panthers at CommBank Stadium in Parramatta. Are we any hope against a side that will start as red-hot favourites? At least two members of the podcast team are feeling an upset is on the cards. We hope you enjoy this latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, and we look forward to bringing you a post-match edition following the clash with Penrith. Parramatta are finally back in their old stomping ground and they welcome in the Red V in Round 3. The Tip Sheet is fired up about the long awaited return to CommBank Stadium as Sixties and Forty20 rip into a preview of a game that starts a massive homestand for the Blue & Gold. Jason Ryles welcomes back J'maine Hopgood this week and the boys look at how that impacts the team. Where can the Eels attack the Dragons and what pitfalls do they need to avoid on Sunday if they don't want to fall into any classic Shane Flanagan traps? The Jersey Flegg and NSW Cups are also back in action this week after both teams enjoyed Round 2 byes. How do the two grades stack up heading into Round 3? Should we expect any surprise additions in reserve grade?
What a what to wrap up 2025! The Parramatta Eels have unloaded an almighty broadside on the Newcastle Knights to consign the Novocastrians to the dreaded wooden spoon following a 66-10 victory at CommBank Stadium. Mitchell Moses turned it on in front a raucous home crowd in a stunning individual showing but he was ably supported by his the full ensemble cast as players got off the nudie run list left, right and centre. It was a bittersweet farewell for Dylan Brown too, made that much sweeter with a try and a conversion (after a cheeky mulligan) etched into the record books for the departing Eel and it was wonderful to see the crowd champion the departing play-maker.
It quickly became a frenzied Tuesday for the Parramatta Eels on the last TLT of the year for the NRL. Will Penisini inked an extension to the end of 2028 and was quickly joined in similar fashion by rising prospect Lorenzo Talataina while Jason Ryles has rewarded Dylan Brown with a CommBank Stadium send off against his future employers in the Newcastle Knights. The Tip Sheet is all over it as usual as Sixties and Forty20 break down all the news from Parradise and the NRL as well as taking a peak at the finals rosters of the NSW Cup and the Jersey Flegg Cup.
The Parramatta Eels needed more than just a bounce back effort after slumping to a disconsolate 20-16 loss the Rabbitohs last week and they did exactly that in Round 25 after BLUDGEONING the Sydney Roosters by 20-points. The Eels were relentless and while it should be acknowledged that the Roosters did lose Sam Walker early in the piece, by the second half the Tri-colours were actively wilting under Parramatta's incessant barrage. Sixties and Forty20 revel in a landmark win for the squad as the hard work from the boys and Jason Ryles reaches a frenzied zenith at CommBank Stadium this week!

What a memorable afternoon that was! The Wests Tigers trounced those high-flying Bulldogs at Parramatta. In some of the worst conditions seen at the football in recent memory, Wests Tigers raced out to a commanding lead and managed to hold on for a much-needed two points. The 28-14 win, and with the bye this weekend, should be enough to ensure that the Wooden Spoon run is over at our club! Hallelujah! On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel is joined by Steve and Nick to go over the good, bad, and the ugly from Sunday afternoon in the rain. Some of the specific topics include:The scintillating performance from Adam DoueihiThe reports that we've now offered AD a two-year contractSione and Samuela Fainu's huge contribution to the resultHow Jahream Bula adds so much to the Tiger's attackAnd the Wests Tigers remarkable 78% completion rate in attrocious conditions.Naturally, there's a huge list of 'One Word' submissions from all the members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum as well (thank you, everyone who continues to contribute).A bit of controversy also comes up on the agenda on this pod, including the Alex Seyfarth sin-bin, and why Stephen Crichton didn't get a sit-down after his high shot.Joel brings up some ongoing concerns over the form of Fonua Pole, Nick has a go at the effort made by Royce Hunt, and we touch on the rather silly video posted after the game by Brent Naden. And just like the other Wests Tigers fans present at CommBank Stadium on Sunday, Steve lets our former five-eight have it with a spray for the ages!We hope you enjoy this post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast and we look forward to this weekend's bye, and to seeing you joining us soon on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum! Join Sixties and Forty20 as The Tip Sheet reviews a hard fought loss against the Melbourne Storm in Round 22. "Cometh the hour, cometh the man". When Melbourne needed a hero and someone to turn to in the face of adversity, captain Harry Grant stood up and delivered. Going into the Roosters clash with no Munster, no Papenhuyzen, no NAs, no MacDonald, Fa'alogo or Warbrick, then to lose Hughes to a shoulder injury mid-game, it was Grant who lifted and carried the Storm to victory. Quite possibly his finest hour, his best performance in a purple jersey. AJ and Rhys react live to the announcement of the Origin teams and have a spirited debate over the inclusion of Ezra Mam… it is a contentious talking point and we're the only podcast to present both sides of the argument.Onto club land, we look at the big comeback from Newcastle and debate whether the fans were vindicated by booing the team off the field. We also discuss how the comeback has saved Adam O'Brien while discussing the lack of finish from Manly in the second half. Friday saw Melbourne clinical against a Cowboys side that has seemingly lost direction while the Dolphins leave Shane Flanagan searching for answers after an Isaiya Katoa masterclass.Super Saturday again left us with more questions than answers for Cronulla after their second 40-point thrashing in a row. Are they just a ‘flat-track bully' team or is there anything to salvage from a shocker against the Warriors. AJ lets rip over Cronulla's recruitment after two ‘rejects' in Luke Metcalf and Sam Healey produce amazing performances. We also delve into the Broncos massive win as Rhys has a big look at his side's performance.Sunday footy saw big wins for Canberra and Penrith. Rhys tells us why Ethan Strange is equal to or even better than Lachlan Galvin. It is a major win for the Raiders as Souths lack of an 80-minute performance is examined minutely. We turn attention quickly to CommBank Stadium to discuss the ‘embarrassing calls' that the NRL cleared but look at the unsung heroes that have salvaged Penrith's season. Monday saw the King's Birthday honours go to Canterbury in a ruthless second half showing over the Eels. We also answer the charge of the media of over-exposing Galvin on club debut and if it is fair on a young teen.
Troy and Nathan discuss those rugby union rumours related to Nathan Cleary. Plus we preview Sunday's showdown between the Panthers and Tigers at CommBank Stadium. And what would you like to see out of a new rugby league video game?
The name of this Wests Tigers Podcast edition is simply two questions, and we have plenty more! Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Steve Stretton, and Garry Watson are on deck for this later-than-usual post-game edition of the pod. As we know, Wests Tigers succumbed to the Eels on Monday afternoon. That result leads us to some big questions that we try to answer, including: When it comes to big events like this, why don't we often turn up as a team? Should we play home games against the Eels at CommBank Stadium? Did the club make some mistakes last week in regards to Lachlan Galvin? There are plenty of other things that get discussed as well, including the lies and manipulation in the rugby league media. What is stopping Jarome Luai from being more dominant in attack with the Wests Tigers? And we run through all the 'One Word' submissions from our valued Wests Tigers Podcast Forum members. Steve and Garry also let us know how the big Ambush event at Commbank stadium went, including info that came from guests Latu Fainu and Jeral Skelton. It's a bit of a different version of the Wests Tigers Podcast this time around, and we hope you enjoy it.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Lachlan Galvin saga has continued this week, leading to this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. After a strong debate after the story broke on Monday night, followed by more analysis by Eddie and the boys on Wednesday, we now have this third pod for the week. We take a look at the press conferences held by Benji Marshall, then Wests Tigers' captains, Api Koroisau and Jarome Luai. Joel, Garry, and Nick give their thoughts on what was said and why we're starting to see the potential positives of testing out the coach and players' responses to a situation like this. Most importantly, comparing that response to what we have seen in the past from our club and playing group. Is this going to be the issue that finally helps turn Wests Tigers into a more focused and battle-hardened team? Let's make a statement against the Eels! We then turn our attention to the big Monday afternoon clash with the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium. The Easter Monday fixture looks set to be a memorable encounter with the Wests Tigers no doubt out to tell the world they're bigger and better this year, with or without Galvin. The stats show Wests Tigers should be firm favourites, and the Eels have also lost a few players in recent days, but they do welcome back Mitch Moses for the game. We also look at the reshuffle of the Tiger's team, including the move to the halves for Adam Doueihi, and hopefully the remergence of Luai in Batman mode. The return of experienced centre Brent Naden also draws our attention. Big guests at the Ambush. Don't forget to get along to the free Ambush event before the game at CommBank, with two special guests ensuring it should be a memorable experience. Jeral Skelton will be a guest, as will Latu Fainu, and Garry will get the chance to interview both injured Wests Tigers stars. What we hear from Latu should be of particular interest! We hope you enjoy this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Wests Tigers Podcast has had a bit of a reshuffle with regular programming put on hold this week. That change is because of two different reasons: the boys don't play until Easter Monday, and then there's Lachlan Galvin. After a debate on Monday night on the future of the 19-year-old half, where quite polar opposite opinions were aired, have things changed in the ensuing 48 hours? In other words, is someone going to say on this podcast that, in fact, "Joel was right"? You'll have to listen to this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast to find out. Who's on the show? Eddie Otto is hosting and is joined by Steve Stretton, while Declan McCutcheon and Nick Hayes get a chance to have their first say on the Galvin saga. Some of the questions the boys look at include the obvious one - where does this go from here? If Galvin does get off at the next bus stop, who do we need to target as a replacement? Does that need to be someone to play in the halves? And how will this affect our season? Could it even be a positive in regards to camaraderie among the playing group and a more settled offense on the field? Don't forget to join everyone over on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum to have your say! A bit get for the Ambush! How's this for a get? This Monday's Ambush fan event at CommBank Stadium will see man in waiting, Latu Fainu, join the boys for an interview. Joined by fellow injured Wests Tigers star, Jeral Skelton, get along to that event to hear firsthand from Latu and find out his thoughts on his future alongside Jarome Luai in the Tigers' halves. Attendance to the event is free and will take place at the CommBank Stadium Bar inside Gate B from 2:30 pm. We hope you enjoy this rejigged mid-week pod, and we'll have a preview pod for the Eels game for you later in the week.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
2025 is bringing some new plot twists and storylines for the Panthers, who have now dropped their 4th straight game after losing 22-18 to the Cowboys at Commbank Stadium. Still some positives to touch on, as the Panthers honoured one of the all-time greats in Isaah Yeo who played his 250th game for the club. Some more injury clouds coming out of this one, and another quick turnaround ahead as the team will head to Brisbane to take on the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium next week.

How great is it to see our Wests Tigers back in the winners circle! Round 2 of NRL Season 2025 has been completed and the Wests Tigers have their first victory of the season, smacking the hapless Eels 32-6. There can be a break down or two on the Wests Tigers Podcast, however the only break down this time around is breaking down a victory! Eddie Otto is joined by Declan McCutcheon, Nick Hayes and Garry Watson as they take a deep dive into the 26-point win over Parra at CommBank Stadium. Eddie looks at the 'one word' submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, and then the boys give their one-word answers. The team then discusses the differences in the Tigers between Round 1 and Round 2. Has Wests Tigers defense turned a corner? The boys put the improved defence we've seen so far this season under the microscope and ask is this a genuine improvement? Or is the significant drop in points conceded down to the quality of the opposition the Tigers have faced in the opening 2 rounds? There is also a conversation about individual player performance. Will any of the podcast team eat some humble pie with the improved performances on display yesterday? Not surprisingly, the performance of the Wests Tigers spine is also looked at, and the differences that we witnessed in style and execution compared to the loss to the Knights. Finally, Eddie delivers a message for a former Wests Tigers player, who caught Eddie’s wrath this week? We'll give you a clue - he's not in the crocodile roll! Thank you for tuning in to another edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, and what a pleasure it is to be talking about a victory. And a shout out to all the Wests Tigers fans leaving their 'one word' wrap up of each Tigers match on the forum, we appreciate it!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How good was that!? The Wests Tigers scored a memorable win over the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium yesterday afternoon. The big Easter Monday clash was a real test for our boys, and despite most of the so-called experts writing us off, they responded in the best way possible. On this latest post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Eddie Otto, Declan McCutcheon, and Garry Watson for a thorough breakdown of the clash with the Eels. Some of the main talking points include: The performance of Lachlan Galvin The Galvin hip-drop tackle Aidan Sezer and the difference he's made to the side The super effort of the Wests Tigers forwards And the big contribution of Justin Olam Despite the victory, the boys also look at some areas that could be improved moving forward, and which players might come under some pressure after a big NSW Cup victory as well yesterday.
