State of Origin fallout, Bulldogs' spine shake-up & Dean Young's Dragons future — Round 16 Review. Laurie Daley is under fire after NSW's Origin 2 blowout loss to Queensland, and the panel doesn't hold back Alex demands accountability from the coach, while Dean Ritchie pushes back on the personal criticism crossing the line. Is "sorry, we got it wrong" the speech Daley needs to give before Game 3? Plus, the Canterbury Bulldogs survived an ugly golden-point win over Manly, but Cameron Ciraldo's constant spine tinkering raises a bigger question is this team good enough to make the finals? The panel locks in the spine they believe can get the Bulldogs there. And at the Red V, Dean Young keeps finding signs of life in a one-win Dragons season. The panel asks the hard question: can you sign a coach based on potential alone, or does St George Illawarra need to look elsewhere?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

You will be hard pressed to find a more quintessential game of two halves than tonight's clash between the Eels and Dragons. A lethargic opening stanza from the Blue & Gold allowed the Red V to soar to a commanding 26-4 lead before half time energised the Eels enroute to a valiant comeback effort save for a moment of unfortunate madness that changed the game. Sixties and Forty20 look at the key moments in a heart breaker in the instant reaction to Round 17.

The Eels have made their first major external move for 2026 as they pick up St George Illawarra Dragon Jack De Belin. It is a move that has caused some complicated feelings among the Blue & Gold faithful and Sixties and Forty20 are right there as they sift through their thoughts on the matter. The boys look at the controversy behind the addition, what De Belin brings to the club on the field and where they sit with the signing. Coincidentally, the Eels are facing the Dragons this week across all three grades as The Tip Sheet previews all of the action between the Blue & Gold and the Red V. How do the Eels stack up across the NRL, NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg?

Wests Tigers made it two straight wins with a victory over the Dragons in Magic Round. Travelling to Brisbane after last Sunday's dramatic win over the Sharks, the Wests Tigers held on against the Red V 34-28. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Nick Hayes try to make sense of the Tigers' most recent performance. Some bits looked great, other aspects of our performance were less impressive, despite our boys coming away with two valuable points. The boys put the game under the microscope and looked at areas we can still improve, and the areas that have some of us confident we're going to go at least darn close to the finals. Another discussion point is the difference in the team now, after eight rounds, compared to the Tigers' team that started the year. Some of the individual performances from the Saturday night fixture also get a mention, including Jerome Luai, Jahream Bula, Charlie Staines, and our Terminator, Terrell May. Saints and Sinners, Eddie turns to God? Yes, the man upstairs gets a mention on this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast with Eddie thanking the all-mighty for his help in recent games! There are, of course, some great 'One Word' submissions from the many loyal and dedicated Wests Tigers fans on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Stefano Utoikamanu also gets a mention this edition, that's ahead of our big clash with the Stoem this weekend (three in a row??). And Steve Stretton, who did have a leave pass for this edition of the podcast, has turned up in the newspapers after taking a well-known (maybe not overly respected) rugby league columnist to task. Get all the details on that by clicking download and play on this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. Thanks for listening!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

AJ and Rhys are back once again to review a chaotic Round 5 of the NRL season. We had everything from crackdowns appearing to come and go, some great football, some indifferent football and some great laughs to be had along the way. AJ also has come up with a way to fix the short dropout! We analyse Canberra's great escape over the Sharks as we criticise how the Sharks are playing at the moment. What is Penrith's big problem at the moment as the Cowboys find their stride. We take a trip to Sydney Olympic Park as Souths with one fresh player beat the Roosters, leading AJ to declare the Chad Townsend experiment to be sent to the scrap heap and NEVER EVER return.Parramatta getting win number one of the year as Dylan Brown finds his stride. Rhys questions if the Ilias and Flanagan halves combination is the right one for the Red V as Clint Gutherson shows his stride. AJ delivers a classic Ryan Matterson yarn from the NSW Cup.The Titans continue their inconsistency, but we have praise for the Brimson/Campbell halves combination. The Dolphins also get off their duck as their forwards deliver a big win as Katoa and Nikorima continue their dominance. Brisbane show their class in a great way over the Tigers despite a shaky first half. Tigers just missing some experience out there in this one.Melbourne have a great opening hour, but the last twenty they turned off as the stars got an early mark. Manly did go with them early but when Melbourne get going, good luck and amen ladies and gents. Canterbury tough out a terrific win at home. Newcastle were struggling for numbers (down to 14 in the second half). We also return our segment Yes they are still PLAYING! as well as our LOLCOW OF THE WEEK!

This week's episode talks to Geoff Armstrong about his latest book, the second volume of 'Spirit of the Red V', his in-depth history of St George Dragons. St George are one of the most significant clubs in the history of Australian rugby league. Famous for its unparalleled run of 11 straight premierships in the the 1950s and 1960s, the club's fortunes have risen and fallen as much with off-field trends as they have due to on-field factors. Geoff's book tells the story of the club, its players, its fans, and how it has survived in a changing sport and society.
