Why Galvin Situation Could Make Wests Tigers and Eels Preview

The Lachlan Galvin saga has continued this week, leading to this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. After a strong debate after the story broke on Monday night, followed by more analysis by Eddie and the boys on Wednesday, we now have this third pod for the week. We take a look at the press conferences held by Benji Marshall, then Wests Tigers' captains, Api Koroisau and Jarome Luai. Joel, Garry, and Nick give their thoughts on what was said and why we're starting to see the potential positives of testing out the coach and players' responses to a situation like this. Most importantly, comparing that response to what we have seen in the past from our club and playing group. Is this going to be the issue that finally helps turn Wests Tigers into a more focused and battle-hardened team? Let's make a statement against the Eels! We then turn our attention to the big Monday afternoon clash with the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium. The Easter Monday fixture looks set to be a memorable encounter with the Wests Tigers no doubt out to tell the world they're bigger and better this year, with or without Galvin. The stats show Wests Tigers should be firm favourites, and the Eels have also lost a few players in recent days, but they do welcome back Mitch Moses for the game. We also look at the reshuffle of the Tiger's team, including the move to the halves for Adam Doueihi, and hopefully the remergence of Luai in Batman mode. The return of experienced centre Brent Naden also draws our attention. Big guests at the Ambush. Don't forget to get along to the free Ambush event before the game at CommBank, with two special guests ensuring it should be a memorable experience. Jeral Skelton will be a guest, as will Latu Fainu, and Garry will get the chance to interview both injured Wests Tigers stars. What we hear from Latu should be of particular interest! We hope you enjoy this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers Podcast has had a bit of a reshuffle with regular programming put on hold this week. That change is because of two different reasons: the boys don't play until Easter Monday, and then there's Lachlan Galvin. After a debate on Monday night on the future of the 19-year-old half, where quite polar opposite opinions were aired, have things changed in the ensuing 48 hours? In other words, is someone going to say on this podcast that, in fact, "Joel was right"? You'll have to listen to this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast to find out. Who's on the show? Eddie Otto is hosting and is joined by Steve Stretton, while Declan McCutcheon and Nick Hayes get a chance to have their first say on the Galvin saga. Some of the questions the boys look at include the obvious one - where does this go from here? If Galvin does get off at the next bus stop, who do we need to target as a replacement? Does that need to be someone to play in the halves? And how will this affect our season? Could it even be a positive in regards to camaraderie among the playing group and a more settled offense on the field? Don't forget to join everyone over on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum to have your say! A bit get for the Ambush! How's this for a get? This Monday's Ambush fan event at CommBank Stadium will see man in waiting, Latu Fainu, join the boys for an interview. Joined by fellow injured Wests Tigers star, Jeral Skelton, get along to that event to hear firsthand from Latu and find out his thoughts on his future alongside Jarome Luai in the Tigers' halves. Attendance to the event is free and will take place at the CommBank Stadium Bar inside Gate B from 2:30 pm. We hope you enjoy this rejigged mid-week pod, and we'll have a preview pod for the Eels game for you later in the week.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers announced that Lachlan Galvin would not be with the club beyond 2026. Today, the club dropped Lachlan Galvin from their NRL squad, with the teen set to play in the NSW Cup. The decision to drop Galvin has been led by senior players, Jarome Luai and Api Koroisau. Member of the Continuous Call Team, Jamie Soward, told Jason Matthews on Wide World of Sports, "I think that Benji [Marshall] would have to make a decision based on what their team needs best." "A young man has made a decision so far out to say that he doesn't want to play or doesn't see a future at the club, with these players and with the coach. I had no doubt that it was going to end in tears," Soward continued. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How the Knights Got Another Win Over Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers started the 2025 NRL season on a losing note, succumbing to the Knights 10-8. The loss at Campbelltown Stadium in front of a healthy and revved up crowd makes it seven straight losses against the Newcastle side. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast we pull apart that Friday evening game and try to find exactly what went wrong. One of the items up for discussion is the clunkiness of the Jarome Luai and Lachlan Galvin halves partnership. What can be done to fix this? Did the club make a mistake not playing Luai in the trial against the Eels? And why we need to find some more depth in our attack. Also under the microscope is the poor kicking games exhibited by both halves. There's also a look at how the return of Api Koroisau, Starford To'a and Jerome Bula might help fix some of the offensive issues that we all witnessed on Friday. What happened to the defense? The statistics show that Wests Tigers missed a mammoth 52 tackles in the loss to the Knights, we try to investigate what happened and what can also be done here to remedy the issues. While it isn't all worries and concerns, we also highlight a few bright spots out of the game. Thank you to everyone who left their 'One Word' submissions on the game at the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. We run through all of those with a good mix of both pessimistic and optimistic feelings on where the Wests Tigers stand after another Knights loss. More roster changes? And we take a look at some impending changes to the roster with David Klemmer and Justin Olam potentially off the books as early as this week. While another former Panther might be about to join the Wests Tigers stable! Thanks for your support and we look forward to bringing you the next edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast mid-week.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Joining new buys Jack Bird, Terrell May, Jeral Skelton, Royce Hunt, and Tristan Hope, the premiership winning pair are a further welcome addition. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel, Declan and Steve preview this big round one clash with the Knights. Where do the Tigers look to have an advantage, and what worries us about the Knights' lineup? What do the Tigers need to do to end the six-match winning streak the Knights hold over us? And we give our predictions on how the match will play out. Well done Wests Tigers media team. This podcast also features a response to the new 'Thrive or Survive' video posted by the club on YouTube yesterday. It's been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for fans of the Wests Tigers in recent weeks and this latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast represents that. As the heat of Summer starts to hit, the Wests Tigers continue to be in the headlines, and this time around it's all about the contracts of some of the club's most valuable players. How these details came to be in the media remains a whole other thing! Joel is joined by Steve, Nick, and Garry to look at a rumour that broke last night - Lachlan Galvin having apparently re-signed a new deal with the club (still yet to be anything other than a rumour). But then there is a look at the revelation Jarome Luai could start to negotiate with other clubs in just 11 months! The four-time Premiership winner is coming to the Tigers on a five-year deal, but with player options for the final three years of that contract, and that news has hit a lot of us for six! Should the club have disclosed these terms when he signed? Does it make him any less committed to the cause? And how will the media target this when/if things get tough next year and beyond? We discuss all that. There are similar terms and conditions built into Jahream Bula's contract too (also leaked to the media by unknown sources last week), we put this situation under the microscope too. On a brighter note, we talk about the signing of the club's biggest-ever sponsorship with a new major sponsor, Pepper Money. We take a close look at the encouraging comments made by our new recruit Terrell May on the James Graham podcast, have another quick look at back row options for 2025 and this brings up some Brandon Smith discussion too. The NRL off-season continues, but a big step has been taken this week in the return of the Wests Tigers for 2025. Pre-season training has officially commenced and our star recruit has declared himself a Wests Tiger! On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel is joined by Garry and Nick to discuss the latest from Wests Tigers HQ at Concord. Some of the topics up for discussion include the video message to Wests Tigers fans and members recorded by Jarome Luai in the UK. We talk about the four-time Premiership winner's entrance into the club and what it means to the club, team, and fans. There has also been progress in appointing new independent board members to the Wests Tigers board. That important development is also put under the microscope on this edition of the pod. The boys also discuss the latest on Wests Tigers player recruitment, in particular: The future of Jayden Sullivan at the Tigers The chances of landing discarded Rooster Terrell May The seemingly good chance that Kobe Hetherington will soon be a Tiger How do we fit Sione Fainu into a roster lacking free spaces Then the discussion turns to the 20205 NRL draw, and in particular the best and worst case scenarios for our round one opponent. And there is a quick round of Buy, Sell, or Hold with topics ranging from round one centres to Brent Naden and winning streaks. Santa Claus is coming to town and Wests Tigers fans are hoping the big man has a very special present for us all this year! We've all been good little boys and girls, we've been (mostly) patient while the Wests Tigers have been on struggle street in recent years. But are good things about to come our way? On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto has come out of seclusion to join Declan McCutcheon, Garry Watson, and Steve Stretton. On the agenda is the potentially impending signing of Panthers superstar half, Jarome Luai. The boys look at where that contract situation is at the moment, and when we might be able to officially call him a Tiger! If he does come, who will he partner in the Wests Tigers halves in 2025? There's also a look back at the big series of events that took place last week, including the performance of new interim CEO, Shane Richardson. And an update on the big surge in Wests Tigers memberships since the changes were confirmed. We hope you enjoy this bumper edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, and, if we don't catch you again this year, we all wish you a safe and merry Christmas.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
