From being mistaken for a secretary and told to “get the coffee” to becoming CEO of a New York Stock Exchange company, Suzanne Hopgood's career is anything but ordinary. In this episode of The Authority Company Podcast, Joe Pardavila sits down with Suzanne, author of Get Your Own Coffee: Underestimated, Overlooked, and Now the Boss, to explore how she turned underestimation into strength and built a legacy of resilience and principled leadership.Suzanne shares: * The three-minute conversation that made her Chairman and CEO of a public company * The “get your own coffee” moment that inspired her book's title * Why women were once forced to compete for a single seat at the table * How friendship and support networks made her leadership journey possible * Her candid perspective on being “good at getting fired” and how setbacks opened new doorsAlong the way, she reflects on her marriage to Frank, her biggest supporter, and the life they built together filled with adventure, laughter, and big dreams. If you're interested in leadership, resilience, or breaking barriers, this conversation delivers timeless lessons from someone who has lived them.
The preseason has arrived! It is far from a full attendance of roll call for the Parramatta Eels but J'maine Hopgood heads a class of talented prospects at Kellyville as Jason Ryles spearheads his second preseason at the club. The Tip Sheet explores who is getting a chance to make their mark early on as Forty20 leads the discussion about the young players hand picked by Ryles. Jonah Pezet is finally an Eel, albeit for the single season, while Matt Doorey and Elsie Albert have extended their stay at Parra as the NRL and NRLW rosters continue to take shape. Abbi Church shone for Australia on debut and ended up bagging player of the match honours as Parramatta's fullback starred for the Jillaroos. There is almost too much NRL news to cover this week but the show powers through as much of it as possible headlined by the disgraceful Eli Katoa situation.

Jason Ryles is ushering in a new era for the Eels - even if the result didn't go the right way tonight - and so too is The Tip Sheet stepping into the bold world of tomorrow today as the podcast now brings you bona fide talking heads! Let us know what you think of the new format and help us catch all the gremlins that come with the new territory. It wasn't pretty and they certainly didn't come away with the win but crucially for the Parramatta Eels - they avoided any sort of serious injury in their 30-18 loss to the Wests Tigers. The Tip Sheet unpacks a rather messy affair from the Blue & Gold in a game where they were drowned out by errors and set restarts. Sixties and Forty20 point to some individual defensive lapses and the general struggles to complete sets as key teaching tape before looking at the positives to come from the final trial game. Isaiah Iongi was certainly on such positive with the 21-year-old custodian scoring a sizzling solo try before laying on a four-pointer for Sean Russell. The boys also laud the efforts of Will Penisini, Jack Williams, J'maine Hopgood, Luca Moretti and Ryley Smith in proof that it wasn't all bad for the Eels at Leichardt.
The Parramatta Eels have a new captain! As expected, Jason Ryles has turned to Mitchell Moses to lead the Blue & Gold into a new era. Sixtes and Forty20 breakdown what the appointment means for the player and club. Junior Paulo and J'maine Hopgood were expected inclusions for the leadership group but new recruit Jack Williams continues to make waves as he too earns a place on the panel. The Tip Sheet recpas the last week in Parradise including a camp in Lennox Head and news that Josh Addo-Carr is officially clear to play in Round 3 against the Bulldogs. Sundry news includes a fan day at CommBank Stadium this saturday and upcoming Parramatta Leagues Club elections for the board. The NRL is full of good-news/bad-news this week starting with the Rabbitohs. Latrell Mitchell is clear to play Round 1 but Campbell Graham has a new injury. Ditto for the Tigers where Jarome Luai looks good for his club debut in Round 1 while fellow Penrith recruit Sunia Turuva is now in doubt. At the Dragons, Shane Flanagan has secured the services of Emre Guler effective immediately while the future of Francis Molo is still up in the air. The podcast takes a moment to acknowledge the passing of South Sydney great Gary Stevens. Junior Representatives are back this weekend and the show runs through four rapid fire previews of the Lisa Fiola, Tarsha Gale, Harold Matthews and SG Ball. The ladies are on the road to Canberra while the lads head to Cessnock to face the Raiders and Knights respectively.

What do we want? Top tunes! When do we want them? Now!! Well, pleasure to be of assistance, step right this way… We, the custodians of all things Seladorian, purveyors of only the good stuff, are delighted to welcome Mr Sam Hopgood back aboard the good ship Selador. Hot on the heels of his stellar contributions to our last two Showcase Compilation releases (‘Waiting' on 2021's ‘The 14th Adventure' / ‘Trust' on our 2022 opener ‘The Phenomenal 15th'), the man from Melbourne now steps up with own solo double header. “Two tracks with simple melodic motifs that twist, bend and build into epic dance floor moments,” is how Sam himself describes the choice cuts you have before you and boy, does he deliver. Contemporary club music of the highest order, ‘Flow' gets down to business from the get-go. As Sam says, it twists, bends and builds like a theme park ride on acid – well, Sam said the first bit, we embellished ;) ‘Undulation' then brings a crisp metallic sheen with a pulsing synth line leading the charge before sci-fi squelches and muted vocal clips enter the fray and the whole deal gets bent in and out of shape. All beautifully executed. Yowsah. Team Selador – in full flow x

Andrea Hopgood is a spirit-led leader and visionary who follows God wherever He takes her. She doesn't hide her life's journey and lives to EXPOSE the goodness of God and share the gospel. She's covered a great deal of ground and was vulnerable with me. We had a sweet time recording this episode together. I honor my friend @andreahopgood and celebrate her significance and the genius of God in her!
