Could this be the first time the Wests Tigers score three straight wins this decade? After beating the Sharks and Dragons, Wests Tigers have the opportunity to make it three wins in a row this weekend. The club hasn't managed to get a win in three consecutive rounds since 2018. But, it's going to be a tough monkey to get off our backs; the consistently successful Melbourne Storm stands in our way. Oh, and the game is down in the southern capital as well! What else is on this podcast? On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we preview the big clash with the Storm, with opinions divided on our chances. Joel Helmes, Steve Stretton, and Declan McCutcheon also wrap up last weekend's win over St.George-Illawarra with all agreement that our boys have shown some impressive patches of play. There's a round of Buy, Sell or Hold on this mid-week pod with topics ranging from culture to depth, and Adam Doueihi. Talking about Doueihi also opens up discussion about the futures of Brent Naden and Starford To'a at the Wests Tigers. And, who wants David Fifita at our club? The giant edge second-rower looks set to leave the Gold Coast Titans imminently. Should the Wests Tigers be in the market for the big man? What might entice him to come to the Tigers? And what would he be like playing alongside Jerome Luai on our left edge? We try to answer all those questions. Speaking of questions, we also have Yioti's Quiz, and this week's quiz has us looking to answer some questions himself! Including, did you forget Shawn Blore and David Nofoaluma? Let's keep fingers and toes crossed for a win over the Storm this weekend so that not only can our beloved team cement itself in the eight, but that our big 400th episode is a post-victory edition!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What a Win! Wests Tigers Find a Way Against Sharks!

The Wests Tigers have scored a memorable win over the Sharks in Round 8 of the 2025 NRL season. Coming into the game as outsiders, the Wests Tigers managed to hold the Sharks to 18-all at the end of regular time. But in Golden Point, the boys found a way to win it, with Adam Doueihi kicking a penalty goal for the points! After eight rounds, the Wests Tigers have eight points, a 50% win ratio, and are just outside the top eight. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Nick Hayes and Garry Watson to look at the remarkable events that unfolded at Leichhardt. Some big issues to discuss. The two-point win raises questions around the rest of the season for the Tigers. For example, are there still more improvements to come? What could be tweaked to make us an even more potent football side, not just this year but into next season too? The individual performances on the day from guys like Sunia Turuva, Adam Doueihi, Starford To'a, Jarome Luai, Sione Fainu, Sam Fainu, and Terrell May. While 150-game warrior, Alex Twal, also gets a special mention, not just for his efforts yesterday, but for what he's brought to the Wests Tigers during his career. Naturally, the boys give their one-word submissions from the roller-coaster experience that was Tigers V Sharks, and there are plenty of submissions from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum too. And we give our take on 'Richo's Meter" too, determining just where the Tigers are currently sitting on that Poor to Great scale. While there's also a little bit of player transfer news around that comes up for discussion, including the departure of Tim Johanssen from the club. But really, it's all about a dogged and determined Wests Tigers team that did us all proud at Leichhardt Oval yesterday.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Lachlan Galvin saga has continued this week, leading to this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. After a strong debate after the story broke on Monday night, followed by more analysis by Eddie and the boys on Wednesday, we now have this third pod for the week. We take a look at the press conferences held by Benji Marshall, then Wests Tigers' captains, Api Koroisau and Jarome Luai. Joel, Garry, and Nick give their thoughts on what was said and why we're starting to see the potential positives of testing out the coach and players' responses to a situation like this. Most importantly, comparing that response to what we have seen in the past from our club and playing group. Is this going to be the issue that finally helps turn Wests Tigers into a more focused and battle-hardened team? Let's make a statement against the Eels! We then turn our attention to the big Monday afternoon clash with the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium. The Easter Monday fixture looks set to be a memorable encounter with the Wests Tigers no doubt out to tell the world they're bigger and better this year, with or without Galvin. The stats show Wests Tigers should be firm favourites, and the Eels have also lost a few players in recent days, but they do welcome back Mitch Moses for the game. We also look at the reshuffle of the Tiger's team, including the move to the halves for Adam Doueihi, and hopefully the remergence of Luai in Batman mode. The return of experienced centre Brent Naden also draws our attention. Big guests at the Ambush. Don't forget to get along to the free Ambush event before the game at CommBank, with two special guests ensuring it should be a memorable experience. Jeral Skelton will be a guest, as will Latu Fainu, and Garry will get the chance to interview both injured Wests Tigers stars. What we hear from Latu should be of particular interest! We hope you enjoy this bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers are sitting pretty in the NRL Top Eight after a second straight victory. Traveling north to Redcliffe, the Wests Tigers proved too strong for the home team, coming away with two vital points in a 30-18 victory. In this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Garry Watson and Steve Stretton, and the encouraging signs from the game are covered. Aspects of the Tigers' play that made us happy include the multiple points of attack and the increasing synchronicity of the team. Sure, there were a few things still to work on, we also talked about that as well. We also run through a terrific list of 'One Word' submissions from our valued members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum (we'd love you to add to that list each game too!) Great display of teamwork. While the boys played as a unit, the individual performances of a few players are also discussed, including Jahream Bula, Fonua Pole, Terrell May, Alex Twal, Api Koroisau, and Tallyn Da Silva. We asked the question - is Sunia Turuva the best finisher we've had in a decade? And we played a new game - Was Garry Wrong? The topics in question include Garry's call on the abilities of Adam Doueihi and Alex Seyfarth! (Perhaps a version of this could be used re Eddie Otto and Bula??) Also up for discussion was the possible replacement for Jeral Skelton if he is unable to take on the Warriors next Sunday evening at Campbelltown. Speaking of Campbelltown, Steve has details of the pre-game Ambush event being held at The Beer Shed in Leumeah on Sunday afternoon (to which you are invited). And congratulations to the Wests Tigers on passing another big milestone - 9,000 people have now got Wests Tigers memberships and we think that's a great achievement, but still well short of where we should be. It's great to be able to present another post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, let's make it three on the trot against the Kiwis!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers proved too strong for Parramatta on Friday night at Leichhardt Oval. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Steve Stretton and Nick Hayes to break down the trial win over the Eels. The boys look at some of the main talking points out of the game, including the form and contribution of recruits Terrell May, Jack Bird, Jeral Skelton, and Royce Hunt. There's discussion around the possible backline for round one, including whether Adam Doueihi will take one of the centre spots, and Heath Mason's prospects at fullback (if chosen). And, naturally, there's a discussion around the Wests Tigers halves with one Wests Tigers Podcast Forum member calling for a radical rethink before the season starts. Wests Tigers forwards impressed The Wests Tigers made more metres than the Eels, more post-contact metres, and made more tackle breaks, but despite this, there were a couple of forwards that had relatively quiet games on Friday. Joel, Steve and Nick take a look at the forward stocks and discuss what might be the best combo for the game against the Knights next weekend. Hooker discussion also comes up with Tristan Hope impressing in his time on the field, but has he done enough to take the nine jersey from Tallyn Da Silva for that game? Do we stick with Alex Twal at lock? And, is it just us, or have this Tiger's team bonded better over the off-season than going into previous seasons? Referee Ashley Klein also gets a mention, though not in a particularly positive manner! Lots of listener contributions Thank you to all the members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum who contributed their 'One Word' responses, naturally, we will stick with this tradition through the season. Check out some further tweaks made on the forum, including changes to advertising settings which should make for a better user experience through season 2025. Prodigal son Eddie returns after a long summer break and is joined by two recent pod part-timers, Steve and Declan. The boys give their quick summary and thoughts on the Wests Tigers' first trial of the year last Sunday at Kogarah. Then they launch into discussion around the future of Wests Tigers prop-forward, David Klemmer. What to do with big Klem? There is talk that the veteran front-rower might have played his last game for the club. Is it a good move by Wests Tigers to let him go and join the Dragons this close to the kick-off of the season? The boys also discuss what we should do with his roster spot and salary if he does depart for St.George-Illawarra, should we be looking for a second rower instead? Also, does the move leave us light-on upfront, and should we consider Francis Molo as a replacement? Next up, Parramatta. Then the discussion turns to this Friday night's second NRL trial with the Wests Tigers taking on the Eels at Leichhardt Oval. Up for discussion is the selection of Alex Twal at lock, Adam Doueihi at halfback, and the captaincy for Alex Seyfarth, among other topics surrounding this game. Lastly, it's the return of Eddie's version of Buy, Sell, or Hold with topics ranging from trial ticket prices to the fortunes of Wests Tigers Coach Benji Marshall if the team has another poor season. After a long off-season Wests Tigers are back in action in the first trial of the 2025 NRL season. The Wests Tigers will meet the Canterbury Bulldogs at Netstrata Stadium (Kogarah Oval) for the trial match at 5pm this Sunday. Ahead of that match, the Wests Tigers Podcast team take a look at the side selected by Benji Marshall, and what our expectations are of the team. Mix of youth and experience Benji has named familiar faces including Lachlan Galvin and David Klemmer for the match, while new recruit Jeral Skelton will also feature on the wing. On this edition of the pod, Joel Helmes, Nick Hayes and Garry Watson put under the microscope the naming of those three likely first round NRL players. Is there anything more to read into their selections? While a whole group of rising stars will also represent the Wests Tigers, including Heath Mason, Latu Fainu, and Tallyn Da Silva. All eyes will also be on round one hopefuls, including Tim Johannssen, Tony Sukkar, Sione Fainu, and Justin Matamua. Sione Fainu was named as an edge forward, does that mean he's a chance of grabbing that seemingly vacant second row spot in the NRL team? A few names missing Also up for discussion is the whereabouts of a few guys that we thought might feature in this first trial, including Adam Doueihi, Starford To'a and Charlie Staines. Does their exclusion mean they're being considered for the NRL team? Brent Naden may have also featured in this game, however he, along with Royce Hunt and Reuben Porter, are on 2025 All Stars duties. While this edition of the podcast wraps up with a quick game of Buy, Sell or Hold with some serious questions around fan expectations and recently departed Wests Tigers players, and a not so serious question about a missing podcast host! What's this? Two post-victory editions of the Wests Tigers Podcast on successive weekends! The Wests Tigers shrugged off a miserable recent record at Campbelltown Stadium yesterday with an energetic performance to put the Raiders out of commission. Winning 48-24, the Wests Tigers have now won as many games in 2024 as they did in the entire 2022 and 2023 seasons. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, a late shuffle sees Eddie Otto step into the host's chair and is joined by Garry Watson and Declan McCutcheon. The boys discuss the big win, including some of the head-turning individual performances from guys like Adam Doueihi and Alex Seyfarth. There's also plenty of attention paid to the enthusiasm being brought to the team in recent times by Wests Tigers youngsters such as Lachlan Galvin and Luke Laulilii. Campbelltown gets discussed too with the die-hard Wests Tigers fans getting behind the side yesterday. And where to from now? Are these two wins over the Titans and Raiders the start of a much better end to the season and that means handing the spoon over to someone else (hopefully Parra!)? We hope you enjoy this big post-win edition of the pod!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We can thank the 19th Century French writer Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr for the famous saying; “plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose”. Translation; the more things change, the more they stay the same. And that is the perfect summation for our Wests Tigers at the moment - the effort is still there, but the poor discipline and the lousy execution are too. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, recorded shortly after the Tigers slumped to their 7th straight loss, Joel Helmes is joined by Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson. The boys look at the Dolphins game, trying to find what worked and lament what didn't. There's also a discussion on where the team is at this point, for example, are we just a terrible team that has no hope, or are there the green shoots there that one of our 'One Word' contributors mentions? Adam Doueihi is in the news, his possible future at the Wests Tigers is put under the microscope. And are the Federal Government about to pump $50 million into "saving" Leichhardt Oval? We talk about what that investment might mean for the Wests Tigers. It's another post-loss edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, but hey, it must be good because we're getting plenty of practice at those at the moment!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers are back in action in the late game as part of Magic Round on Sunday evening in Brisbane. It's history repeating itself with the Wests Tigers taking on the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium...for the second time this year! Let's hope the result is the reversal of the match played earlier in the season.  Eddie Otto is in the driver's seat for this slightly delayed version of the mid-week podcast. Declan McCutcheon joins Eddie for a look at everything happening in Tiger Town. The boys discuss the Member's email received after the loss to Newcastle last weekend. Also on the agenda is the future of Wests Tigers great, Todd Payten. Poor old Todd is in the doldrums up in the far north...do we get home as an assistant coach in 2025? Eddie has a round of Buy, Sell, or Hold. Some of the topics include the future of Jayden Sullivan and Adam Doueihi, and ask, would Mika Sivo make a good addition to our club? There's also a preview of the Dolphins clash and putting your thinking cap on for the latest edition of Yioti's Quiz.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Eddie's back! After a self-imposed break away from the pod, and the Wests Tigers in general, Mr Otto is back in the host's chair. On this off-season edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie, along with Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson, cover everything that's been happening around our great club. That includes more talk around the review into the Wests Tigers. The guys ask whether the delay in releasing the key review findings, or there appearing to be no major moves occurring at the moment, is a good or bad thing? Should we be starting to grow concerned that significant reforms to the club's administration and governance are/were a bridge too far? Eddie, Garry and Declan have their say on all that. Also, should the owners of the club be concerned about our major sponsor leaving if the review leads to the removal of Chairman Lee Hagipantelis? The other big off-season talking point is the attempt to steal Jerome Luai off of the high-flying Panthers. There's a discussion around how that may pan out over the coming days. The boys give their thoughts on what Luai would bring for the Tigers, where he might play, and whether Penrith or the Bulldogs are a greater threat to get his signature. Addin Fonua Blake's future also comes up for discussion, including whether we should look at trading one of our current players for the big Warriors prop. Adam Doueihi has been in the news over an off-field social media issue, but on the field there are hopes he will play a part in the 2024 Wests Tigers team. The guys give their thoughts on how he might be used. We hope you enjoy the latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're going back to our roots with just Joel and Eddie on deck for this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. The Wests Tigers didn't play this weekend, we got two very much-needed points by way of a bye, but there's still plenty to discuss. First up, the rumours that Tommy Talau could be taking up an offer with Manly, potentially as soon as this week. Is this a good move for the club? Are we being taken advantage of? Is Tommy being disloyal? And, is it a sign we might be looking for a player or two to our roster in the coming weeks? There are also reports Brandon Wakeham has won the race to replace Adam Doueihi in the halves, we discuss that. Lewis Dodd is a young Super League halfback currently playing for St.Helens, he apparently wants to come to Australia and play in the NRL, but, if his boss has anything to say about it, it won't be with the Wests Tigers. The CEO of St.Helens, Mike Rush, apparently told Dodd to target a better club than our Tigers. We take a look at this issue on this edition. Buy, Swap, or Hold is also back, this time with Joel asking Eddie the questions, and Eddie turns the tables delivering a term one report card on the Wests Tigers.  And the boys take a look at some of your feedback via the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Wests Tigers went close, but once again it was a loss for the black, gold, and white against the Eels. The round six match at Accor Stadium was a dark day for the club with five-eight Adam Doueihi suffering another ACL injury. Centre, Brent Naden, also suffered a serious injury, breaking his collarbone while scoring a try in the 28-22 loss. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Declan McCutcheon dissect the Doueihi injury, and look at the latest loss to Parramatta. Were there any positives? How about Charlie Staines at fullback? Is Staines a long-term fullback option? Junior Tupou on the wing? How did the forward pack go? There's also a look at the options the club might have to fill the now vacant five-eight and centre positions. We invited the thoughts from a member of the Wests Tigers Forum who sent in a from-the-heart opinion piece that sparks further debate around the management of the club. Don't forget, you can always have your say on the Wests Tigers on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. The Wests Tigers are back in action tomorrow evening at 6 pm with a clash against the Storm in Melbourne. Coming off another loss, albeit with some possible bright shoots, this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast takes a look at our chances against the injury/suspension-ravaged Melbourne side. Eddie Otto is in the host seat and is joined by Steve Stretton and Garry Watson for a look at the significant line-up changes made by coach Tim Sheens this week. Will the changes work? Will our attack look more threatening? What does Brandan Wakeham bring? How will Adam Doueihi go at fullback? And what will things look like with a new-look back row? Other topics on the agenda include the future of Luke Brooks and the rumours of impending changes at the top at Wests Tigers. While the boys go toe-to-toe with Yioti's Quiz! Well, it's happened again! Wests Tigers are now on our equal worst-ever losing streak. But, were there some little rays of sunshine poking through on a stinking hot day at Belmore? On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes and Garry Watson take a look at the 26-22 loss to the Bulldogs. Some of the main talking points include: What's going on with Nofa? The controversial call by Tim Sheens to bring David Nofoaluma off the field. Does this signify a bigger issue with the veteran winger? John Bateman. Have we found a new fan favourite with his unorthodox style and in-your-face attitude on the field? Where does he play next week, lock or second-row? The halves. Is the Luke Brooks and Adam Doueihi experiment finally over? And, if so, where does Doueihi play (assuming he's the one that gets moved)? Plus all the other major talking points from a mostly quite dire outing against the Bulldogs.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
