TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ CONRAD VAN ORTON Andrea Zanchetta, aka Conrad Van Orton, is a Rome-born DJ and producer. CVO’s musical history and taste range from 90s Italian rap to minimal and experimental Techno, which is reflected in his eclectic sets and productions containing deep sounds as well as industrial influences. Since 2010 he is co-founder of the record label CRS Recordings with his old friend Francesco Visconti aka VSK. During the last years his studio work found space on many important labels such as Dynamic Reflection, PoleGroup, Sonntag Morgen, Attic Music, Lyree, Soma Records and he signed a six tracker EP with VSK on Developer's Modularz. @stefangoldmann runs the @macrorec label and is closely associated with Berlin's @berghain club. Though nominally techno, his music is distinguished by an ever-imaginative take on the form. It's definitely club music but of a rather distinctive kind produced by a creator who's exceptionally imaginative, endlessly curious, and, one presumes, never happier than when bringing a project to fruition. Several of his tracks have served as genre-shifting blueprints – from his early reductionist works for the Classic and Perlon labels to Sleepy Hollow, Lunatic Fringe or The Maze. Yet he has ventured into a line of projects hacking away at the core features of techno, with systematic forays into, for example, irregular rhythms, microtonal tunings and the recontextualisation of industrial sound design. Apart from DJing in clubs around the globe, his projects have also brought him to locations as distinctive as the Berlin Philharmonic, Los Angeles's LACMA museum and Kyoto's Honen-in Temple. His mix for @recorder-13 sees him build a highly focused arc, originating from amorphous tones by Grischa Lichtenberger and Mika Vainio, projecting through intricate structural experiments by Donato Dozzy, Stanislav Tolkachev and Aleksi Perälä and culminating in high pressure tracks by the likes of Schacke, L'estasi Dell'oro and Peter van Hoesen. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ VSK Francesco Visconti, better known as VSK, is an Italian techno dj and producer, born in Rome in 1986 and based in Berlin. Since his earliest youth he has had a huge passion for electronic music, and through hanging out at the famous record store from the Capital “Remix”, he was introduced to the world of djing when he wa only 16 years old. He has got familiar to different forms of techno, his style ranging from a sound usually very hard and dark, often with industrial influences, to a very different one, deeper and more mental, both still easily recognizable as coming from the same mind. At the same time he met the artist Ken Karter, who introduced him to the world of production and mastering. He began an education as an audio-engineer and sound-designer, in music and especially in television, working in different recording studios; currently he does this alongside his artistic career. In 2010 he and his friends Conrad Van Orton and Vilix started their own label “Consumer Recreation Service”, which got immediate support from big names in the international techno scene, currently he has been handling “CRS ltd” series, focused on a darker and more industrial sound. Over the years he has released music on many other important labels such as Ear To Ground, Sonntag Morgen,Genesa, Planet Rhythm, on which he has an important collaboration with the Italian icon Giorgio Gigli, “Silent Age Ep”. In 2016 he also signed an extended six-track Ep with Conrad Van Orton on Developer’s imprint Modularz ( USA) and in 2018 on historical Soma Records under the name of “Symmetrical Behaviuor”. In 2017 he started performing live, both individually and as part of a duo with the Serbian artist Scalameriya. This collaboration brought to several relevant releases on the British labels Power Vacuum and the legendary Perc Trax, as well as leading to their appearance in the MORD box 002. At the same time he took part in the latest VA on the amazing “47” label along with Ancient Methods, OAKE and the label owner Tommy Four Seven. He also signed 47's third solo Ep, following those by Headless Horseman and Killawatt. Kill Ref is the best known moniker of Alessandro Signore, a long standing italian dj & producer active since 1993 circa, founder of KR/LF Records. In 90s he started appearing at Giona and Movida club's consoles. In 2000s he definitely moved to Rome playing as resident at infamous Brancaleone, then got residency Glucose at Init alongside other friends Korova, Giulio Maresca, VSK, Conrad Van Orton and Ap Lisi, then Ribbon Club in Terracina rising with his new side duo project Kill Traxx with Gigi Galli since 2009. In 2015 took part of Overlake Festival playing alogside Jeff Mills. He will be in fact playing abroad at some high rated european clubs: in Berlin at Tresor and About Blank, where is regularly guested at Homopatik party for a marathon set; in London at Corsica Studios and The Egg; at Liquid Club in Malta. He has remixed the popular "On & On" by Rush, "Fatmah" by the famous italian dub band Almamegretta and "Sai dire addio..." by the italian author and songwriter maestro Franco Battiato. He has founded his own label KR/LF Records (acronym of"Kill Ref Low Frequencies") since 2015 featuring artists such as Endlec, Binny, X501 aka Raffaele Attanasio, Coefficient, Gotshell, Oliver Rosemann, Ben Gibson, Oliver Deutschmann, David Meiser, Progression, Jokasti and Nek. Kill Ref has been released LP "Outskirts Late Broadcast", a DM remix of "I Feel Loved", and adding some electronic-drums interventions to the first Wunderkammer Orchestra post-rock album. For me DJing is always trying to balance between two worlds. On the one side, I look for raw energy and explosive power with repetitive rhythms. When I am preparing a DJ set I am always looking for a rhythmic structure and a futuristic sound. To achieve that goal I search for tracks which incorporate elements of techno, tight sub basses, some ambient and a touch of IDM. DJ, Producer, promoter & label manager, Lex Gorrie is a man of many talents and roles. Firstly as a platform to release their own productions, but now Sleaze Records has grown into one of the most respected techno labels in the world. VSK is an italian dj/producer based in Berlin. Beside djing in the capital, in 2007 decided get into music production attending a course sound engineers, having the chance to meet Ken Karter, and working with him for almost two years at the studio ”Mastering Unlimited”. After sharing the decks with Conrad Van Orton at “Fluid” parties, he became a resident DJ at Goa Club in Rome, where a good feeling with the public grew. Since then VSK started working in a Recording Studio as a professional audio engineer, dealing with productions for movies and television. In 2010, together with Conrad Van Orton, finally started a project which they were planning since years before: Consumer Recreation Services Recordings. Conrad Van Orton born in Rome in 1985. His real name is Andrea Zanchetta, and his aka is a Fincher's "The Game" tribute, and a tribute is also the one that gives the name to the label he opens with his partner VSK aka Francesco Visconti: the Consumer Recreation Services Recordings. Since he was just a boy, CVO always been interested in djing, focusing on scratch, and for this reason he follows both the electro music and the Italian rap evolution in the later 90's. In 2000, when he's fifteen he totally goes clubbing, which he anyway followed since Daft Punk's "Homework" album and the purchase of the first Technics' turntables. After some arrangement year between several kind of electronic club-oriented music as House, Italian Progressive and Elcectro House, he identifies in Techno and Minimal Techno his real music personality, also thanks to the rising friendship with VSK. In 2006 they starts to work together in a studio but job, issues and "life stuff" obstructs the project finalization. At the beginning of 2010 some law issue, after a short period in jail, forces CVO to stay several months locked in his house. Here he starts to work on a lot of project, improving his producing technics and focusing all the blue mood, the rage and frustration in the music he creates. The anger, the will to evade (literally), the growing sense of heaviness raised just from the chance to make music every time he wants and all the obstacles he finds on the way to freedom will become his life thread and "main topic" of his sound. Soon his touch becomes darker, industrial and with a definite negative mood. The absence from live clubbing allows him to start an introspection and self oriented path regarding the music he picks for the dj-sets he records in his room, that will be his personal prison until November 2012.
