C'est notre visite annuelle dans le Finistère et c'est un grand plaisir chaque année de retrouver les équipes d'Astropolis et de la Carène à Brest. Plaisir aussi de se promener dans cette programmation unique en son genre qui célèbre les musiques électroniques dans toute leur richesse et leur ouverture sur le monde. À l'image de notre programme de ce soir : à notre micro le duo mythique de Detroit, Octave One, le trio ligérien-togolais, Ago Gazo, la Franco-Italienne Gigi FM, la révélation Nouveau Monica avec son génial live garage breaké qu'on va vous diffuser en fin d'émission un peu après 23h, la queen de la bass music en France, Flore, et le magicien du modulaire Canblaster. Et puis cette soirée, est un peu spéciale pour nous à Tsugi Radio. En octobre 2025, Tsugi Radio aura 10 ans, c'est complètement fou. On fêtera ça comme il se doit au Trabendo le 2 octobre, mais on a tenu aussi à fêter cet anniversaire un peu partout en France avec nos si chers festivals sans lesquels, Tsugi Radio ne serait pas ce qu'elle est aujourd'hui. Première étape ici à Brest où Astropolis nous fait le plaisir de programmer pour ouvrir la scène club, Dawa, notre collectif résident. On attaque cette émission comme chaque année avec Maëlle Le Gouefflec, directrice de la Carène, Gildas Rioualen, directeur d'Astropolis, ainsi que Yannick Martin, programmateur de La Carène.

Young partygoers might know Man Power, AKA Geoff Kirkwood, as the earnest geezer going back-to-back with DJs like Ewan McVicar, Paul Woolford, La La and Skream—peak-time specialists with a fine line in boofy bangers and ravey techno. Kirkwood is also a dab hand at the kind of elliptical house and deep cut detours favored by '00s labels like DFA and Optimo. In spite of a long track record as a producer and promoter, if you had to boil Kirkwood's work in recent years down to a single quality, it might be altruism. He hails from North Shields, a small town fringing the boundary of Newcastle in England's oft-neglected North East, and wears his heritage proudly. The Me Me Me label boss's involvement in a flurry of civic restoration, and no-filter paeans to the importance of working class involvement in culture, have become as central to his life as music-making itself. For an accomplished DJ who has played at nearly every good club you could name, that's no small feat. So which side of Man Power were we in for? The answer on RA.940 is: both. '60s free verse poetry, Zebra Katz, Gesaffelstein and John Carpenter in the opening stretch? Makes sense. Octave One punching through Rozalla? You got it. An extended Joe Claussell workout atop Radiohead's "Everything In Its Right Place"? Why not. Our landmark 700th episode in partnership with Detroit's Blueprint presents the first in a new three-part series exploring the untold history of Detroit techno from the perspective of the women who built it. The history of Detroit techno is often recounted in waves. First there was the Belleville Three—Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May—closely followed by a second cohort of artists who further developed the sound in the '90s. Names like Carl Craig, Octave One, Robert Hood, Jeff Mills and Mike Banks are among those that have been codified in the official annals of techno history. But there's another, lesser known story that is seldom told about the women who grew the scene right alongside them. Equally esteemed artists like DJ Minx (the founder of Women On Wax Recordings), K-Hand, DJ Cent, Stacey Hotwaxx Hale and more ran labels, collectives and DJ nights that aren't bestowed with the same credit as those from their male counterparts, and have consequently been lost in the chronicles of time. For the 700th episode of the RA Exchange, we counter correct this gender inequity with the first episode of a three-part series hosted and produced by the all-female Detroit collective and party series Blueprint. Alanna Greenlee, Janisa Nelson and Crystal Mioner embark on interviews that illuminate an alternative history of Detroit techno that unfurled alongside these better-documented techno waves, tracing the birth of a woman-led community that put mutual support at its heart and fought to earn respect from their male peers and the scene at large. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ RAFFAELE ATTANASIO "My trajectory, I hope, will always be uphill, in continuous musical evolution... I'm always hungry for new sound experiences, and I'll put all my soul into it." - Raffaele Attanasio Born to a musician father in his home city of Naples, Attanasio was only satiated when listening to virtuoso maestros like Il Guardiano del Faro and Keith Emerson. Developing his prodigious ear, he trained on drums and then piano and his auspicious ability become apparent early. In his late teens, he ventured into DJing and electronic music production and has garnered plaudits from Jeff Mills, Len Faki and Ben Sims; even performing with Mills in a B2B live set and also Octave One. He found a home within the electronic music community, heading his own label Letter From Jerusalem, and releasing on others, such as Third Wave Black and Non Series. His label even released music from Douglas McCarthy of the band Nitzer Ebb. Bossi Funk bought his first records in 1993. The first two years he played at friends birthdaypartys and private events, later at raves, events and clubs in South Tyrol. He become his first residency 1998 at disco Zoom (Ora). Later he was resident at Live club (bz) and Rise (bz) for years. He was also resident on the legendary Alter Ego (in tour) partys in the region and played a lot of raves and afterhours in South Tyrol and a lot of clubs like puka naka, bistro viva, apres, baila, miro, cheope, ladum ecc Bossi Funk s sound is housey, deep and full of energie. His record collection has no boundaries,     house, techno,electro, old scool trance, minimal, jazz and of course funk. Bossi Funk was also active, and a founding member at  Atrakt, a cultural society based at Ora where he played alongside legends like Octave One, Marshall Jefferson, Tyree Cooper and more. To an international audience, NIKS might be best known as one of the cofounders of Black Artist Database, but she's also an incredible DJ. And public speaker. Over the past few years, through a mix of activism, thought and DJing, the London selector has created an all-encompassing approach to her artistry that centers dance music, social justice and an endless desire to uplift those around her, especially Black artists. Through Black Artist Database, NIKS has created a resource to support Black artists from around the world. What started as a spreadsheet called Black Bandcamp has become a fully-fledged platform with editorial, mixes and, of course, the powerful directory of artists that started it all to begin with. Outside of that, NIKS curates panels, hosts and gives talks, helps run a radio station called RTM and DJs. Her RA Podcast is inspired by a specific night she played in Manchester, but it's also a wonderful snapshot of her style, connecting the dots between Drexciya and Octave One, Nicola Cruz and Seth Troxler, Lyric Hood and James Bangura, and an electrifying section that weaves between tracks from X-Coast and X-Press 2. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ ANDREW MOORE Scots-born Andrew first became professionally involved with dance music off the back of a filmmaking degree and subsequent role as cameraman and editor for Glasgow-based online electronic magazine eqtv.dj. Whilst there, he filmed and interviewed the likes of DJs Ben Klock, Slam, Octave One, Dinky, Jeff Mills, John Digweed, Art Department, and Cajmere amongst others at Glasgow's club institutions Sub Club and The Arches, as well as filming festivals T in the Park and Rockness and in Leeds at Mint Club, The Faversham and Sven Väth's festival ‘Cocoon In The Park' three years in a row and Barcelona's Sonar festival. After venturing into producing and moving to Berlin in 2018 Andrew's career has gone from strength to strength with gigs at renowned clubs Kantine am Berghain, Griessmuehle, OHM, IPSE, Hoppetosse, House of Weekend, Ritter Butzke, Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Watergate, SchwuZ and further afield in Lithuania, Spain, Poland's Transformator, Croatia's DEPO Klub and back to London for Jaded at Corsica Studios as well as becoming resident at Ellen Allien's party ‚ ‘We Are Not Alone‘. THE DEEP CONTROL presents ... Pale Penguin (Greece) PALE PENGUIN is one of the key figures in the Greek electronic scene. Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, he's been djing for almost 30 years now. On his portfolio there are appearances in big festivals (Sola Luna, Balkan Voices, Urban Rhythm, Reworks, Butterfly, Spring Festen, Summer3P, Kapani Project) alongside Slam, Felix Da Housecat, Dave Angel, Luke Slater, Dominic Eulberg, Modeselektor, Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts), Coldcut, Octave One, Eddie Piller etc, and many venues throughout Greece and Europe. He has done warm-up sets to artists like Rjd2, Thievery Corporation, Richard Dorfmeister, Nightmares On Wax, Kid Loco, DJ Mushroom (Massive Attack), Frank Popp, Bjorn Torske, Bentley's Rhythm Ace, Snowboy, Hooverphonic, Andy Smith, Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, Kevin Sauderson, Aidan Lavelle, Ursula 1000, Malente etc. For almost 12 years he was resident dj in the legendary Bar/Clubs “Elvis” and “Liebe” presenting Friday's “Breaktech” nights while he have presented special dj sets for Thessaloniki's International Fair, Thessaloniki's International Film Festival and for the bigger Balkans Hip-Hop/Funk/Breaks event “Battle of The Year”. He's got many exclusive mix sets for global net radios, a series of exclusive mix CDs for Freeze magazine and he's the main compiler of the Electronica/Balearic compilation series “Return To Paradise” for V.I.M.RECORDS. He is a dedicated radio producer with many radio shows in Thessaloniki's best underground radio stations 88,5FM & REPUBLIC FM while lately he's a regular producer on TOPIKAP RADIO. Additionally he was the main music contributor to Greek music and urban culture magazines “Freeze”, “Soundmaker” and “Crawford Magazine”.
His production activities begun with SCOPITONE CONSPIRACY and POZITRONIC RAY in early 2000s, from 2006 to 2012 he was a member of THE SCIENTIFICS (a Breaks/Tech project which have released singles and remixes for labels like V.I.M.Breaks, Erase, Basstard, Yellow Finger Communications, Warriorz Music, Relax and Groovebox), In early 2009 together with Kid Stretch he have formed the Disco-Breaks project PALE THE KID (focused mainly in Electrofunky/Disco-Breaks sound they have managed to release singles and remixes for Breakbeat Paradise, V.I.M.Breaks, Dirty Drop Records, Warriorz Music and Timewarp Music). Samuel CabreraDiseñador, empresario, y apasionado por la cultura del diseño y la música experimental, Samuel Cabrera es fundador y director del evento internacional Tenerife Design Week (TDWeek) y Codirector de Tenerife Design Festival (TDF) desde el año 2009. Además, codirige el festival de música, arte y creatividad MÁC Festival desde 2018, una apuesta de vanguardia en la escena local tinerfeña. Su formación interdisciplinar y vocación colaborativa, unido a su interés personal por conectar personas y proyectos innovadores, le ha llevado a desarrollar trabajos que van desde la gestión cultural y la dirección de proyectos creativos destacando: el diseño aplicado a la comunicación, exposiciones, producto, interiorismo, dirección de arte y museografía, entre otros. Samuel Cabrera, desarrolla en sus sesiones su particular visión de la cultura de la música electrónica. DJ and electronic music enthusiast alike, Michal Staniewicz, AKA Mike Lemur, is coming out of Warsaw, Poland. His first steps behind the decks was on the famous after-party club Luzztro in Warsaw, where he fell under the hands of the best underground DJ’s in the capital city, such as ADES (Luzztro), Junior (Soundelivery) and SeBBas (Killa Beatz). After having spent few years playing at many major techno night clubs in Poland, such as Like Luzztro ,M25, 1500m2 (Warsaw) and Metro (Bialystok), Mike moved to Stavanger, Norway in 2015 where he had to tread new ground. Without delay, Mike started organizing small gigs in local bars and pubs like Sting and Delhi. After some time he was spotted by the local collective FLC, which he quickly became an integral part of. Mike has performed with legends like Octave One, Stacey Pullen, Tadeo, Angelo Mike ,Carla Roca,Anja Kraft,Ades,Junior,+Platform, J.Ruiz, Daniel Stefanik, Christian Tilt, Thomas Urv, Bjørn Torske and many more. At present, Mike is a resident DJ at Cementen, Stavanger. Mike Lemur has spent countless hours developing his sound and his technical skills. For Mike, it’s all about achieving that deep, hypnotic groove, playing those tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realizing it.
