Well, the 2023 NBA draft came and went. And stuff happened, boy did stuff happen. The Kings decided to trade their first round pick Olivier Maxence-Prosper along with Richaun Holmes to the Dallas Mavericks to open up cap space. They did draft Colby Jones and Jalen Slawson in the 2nd round, both look to be ready made contributors and could likely find their way into the Kings rotation during the season. In other Kings related news, Lindsey Harding will become the Stockton Kings head coach this upcoming season and Anjali Ranadive will become the Stockton Kings General Manager, making them the first female Head Coach and GM tandem in the G-League. And then in trade news, Kristaps Porzingis is heading to the Celtics while Marcus Smart is going to be a Grizzlies while the Wizards will be welcoming Tyus Jones, Danillo Gallinari and Mike Muscala. And in a bizarro world trade, Chris Paul is now a Warrior ... while Washington receive Jordan Poole and the Warriors 2030 protected 1st round pick and a 2027 second round pick. What a world ... Danny Ainge has had a busy offseason. After tons of rumors surrounding Donovan Mitchell to the New York Knicks, the Jazz have agreed to trade him to Cleveland for Sexton, Agbaji, Markkanen, and many picks and pick swaps. This puts the Cavs as one of the top teams in the East, and should make them a formidable team for the foreseeable future. Chet Holmgren suffered a Lisfranc injury in his foot during a Pro-AM game, leaving him out for the entirety of this season and likely some of next season. With that, the future of the OKC Thunder seems to be a bit confusing. Tanking has been the strategy for a few years, but it's hard to see an end to The Tank coming any time soon. Danillo Gallinari has torn an ACL and will likely not play many minutes for the Celtics this year, which is a massive bummer to me and to Gallo, who grew up a Celtics fan and was very excited to play for the franchise. With the season coming back soon, we will be back with more episodes shortly. Enjoy! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

With the drafting of Davion Mitchell, the Kings are likely committing to their belief in a three-guard lineup of Fox, Haliburton, and Mitchell working. The most recent example of a comparable lineup is the 2019-20 Oklahoma City Thunder featuring the NBA's best lineup of Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danillo Gallinari, and Steven Adams. I am joined by OKC cover, Jacob Kniffen (@JacobKniffen), to get his perspective on the strengths, weaknesses, and schemes of that three guard lineup. Learn more about your ad choices. The Toronto Raptors and the Utah Jazz have a lot of things in common. They’re both franchises that don’t get the elite free agents in the offseason. To get by they’ve had to make shrewd moves and draft picks to work their way up the standings. With those picks and marginal trades they both eventually would find themselves hitting a ceiling. The Raptors changed their fortunes when they took a 1-year chance with Kawhi Leonard. So far that has worked wonders for them. On this episode of the SLC Punks Podcast we look at some possible trades that have huge risk but could also come with huge payoff as well. Some of the possible trades we talk about are for Mike Conley, Kevin Love and Danillo Gallinari. Whatever the Jazz do this offseason, you can bet it’s going to raise some eyebrows and, if everything rolls right, maybe the Jazz’s ceiling in the playoffs. Learn more about your ad choices. 1.) The Cleveland Cavaliers are on a 12 game winning streak and look poised to go to their fourth consecutive NBA Finals. Is this Lebron's best season thus far, and with a healthy Isaiah Thomas, can this team beat the Western Conference Champion? 2.) According to league sources, the Philadelphia 76ers will reportedly make a strong push to acquire Lebron James in the offseason. Is that a good idea for Lebron and/or the Sixers? 3.) Since recovering from his injury, the Rockets are 7-0 and Chris Paul is averaging 12.4 points, 9.8 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 0.3 blocks, and 1.8 turnovers a game while 42.7% from the field, 41.5% from deep, and 85.7% from the line. Will the Harden / Paul expiriment be enough to propel the Rockets to the Western Conference Finals? 4.) Injury Bug: Injuries have plagued this season's NBA. Whether Gordon Hayward and Jerey Lin on opening night, Isaiah Thomas, Kawhi Leonard, and Jabari Parker still sitting out, Steph Curry and Devin Booker this week, or the slew of injuries in between including John Wall, Kristaps Porzingis, Enes Kanter, Markelle Fultz, D'Angelo Russell, Nicolas Batum, Dennis Schroder, Elfrid Payton, Anthony Davis, Mike Conley, Tony Parker, Wilson Chandler, Paul Millsap, Rudy Gobert, Larry Nance, Blake Griffin, Danillo Gallinari, Patrick Beverly, Kevin Durant, or George Hill ... Injuries seem like an all time high this season! What does this mean for the league and how might it affect the season? 5.)
