Blake dives deep into the New and Old Testaments to demonstrate how the holy name of God, YHWH, is ascribed to Jesus all throughout the New Testament. That You May Know Him, Episode 245.
Fr. Mike teaches us more about the divine and human natures of the second person of the Holy Trinity, the Word that became flesh, Jesus Christ. Jesus became like us in all things but sin; as such, he has a human soul, intellect, will, and body without losing any of his divinity. Father Mike tells us that in his human nature, Jesus thought with a human mind, worked with human hands, and loved with a human heart. Christ needed to learn things, and he increased in wisdom and understanding. The full humanity and true divinity of Jesus is a great mystery of our faith. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. In this episode, Dom and Danielle explore Kenotic Christology/Theology. The belief that Christ “emptied” himself of His divinity, superimposing his human nature, is argued in one aspect to be a true doctrine while on the other hand, the doctrine that Christ is 100% Divine and 100% human is challenged. Although based on one word in Philippians 2:7 taken out of context from the whole pericope, Kenoticism has become prevalent in many churches in the west. In this conversation, Dom walks through Philippians 2:5-11 as a whole and explores other references of that one word taken far too literally. The conversation continues with how it is affecting biblical belief and what needs to be done. To help us joyously celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ we are spending three sermons considering the incarnation. Last week, Pastor Luke spoke about the humanity of Christ. In this sermon we will look at what Colossians 1:15-22 teaches us about Jesus' divinity and why it is essential to our salvation.

The Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ in the Eucharist 10-1-23 Fr Downing
Sept. 03, 2023 Colossians 3:16
In the year 325 at the First Council of Nicea, leaders of the early church adopted a very important statement of belief in response to a false teacher named Arius. Arius was an Egyptian presbyter from Alexandria who introduced a new theology that stated while Jesus was the Son of God, He wasn't really God- he was a created being who had been given some divine attributes. The early church responded to this heresy by official denouncing it and issuing the Nicene Creed, which states that Christian orthodoxy affirms a belief in- “one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made.” It's been a long time since the year 325, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. The Arian heresy has persisted stubbornly throughout the last 1,700 years of church history in various forms and iterations. There are many fringe groups that claim to represent Christian orthodoxy, but in reality are simply peddling this same old heresy. So was Jesus really God? Or was Jesus a created being with divine attributes that was sent by God? Was Jesus made into a God by the early church? Or was Jesus a god just like you and I are “gods”? …shouldn't we be checking our Bibles for the answers to this?
In this portion of our series through the Gospel of Luke, we are focusing on “The Person and Power of Christ.” Jesus has demonstrated His power through miraculous signs and wanders (Luke 7:21-22), but nothing so far (not even raising the dead) compared to the power and authority He demonstrated to His apostles there on the Sea of Galilee. When we consider His power and dominion over all creation, why do we struggle to trust Him with the details of our lives? Sometimes, it is God's will for us to experience the storms that life throws our way, but at other times, God chooses to calm the storm on our behalf—just to show us that He is in control!

Al Fadi and Rob Christian discuss some suras in the Quran that talk about Christ divinity and what Muslims call scientific miracles in the Quran. Sura 9:31, it talks about Jews and Christians taking their monks and rabbis as gods beside Allah and the Messiah. This implies unification since Jesus was not included in the monks and rabbis but with Allah. Sura 43:61 says that Jesus knows the last hour. This implies he is all knowing. In sura 86:7 shows that Allah does not know the correct anatomy of the human body. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Throughout the Old and New Testaments, the writers of the Bible harmonise perfectly in their description of the Messiah. Central to this common description is the attribute of divinity; inherent only to the Father and to His Anointed One. In some of these prophecies, Christ's relation to the Father is further underlined as being "the only begotten of the Father", whose origin is from the days of eternity. Yet what makes the divinity of Christ so important? And how are we to reckon Christ's divine Sonship with His birth in Bethlehem as the Son of man? www.gatheredfragments.comhello@gatheredfragments.com
