Public transportation plays a critical role in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania’s lives whether they’re trying to get to work, run errands, or get to their medical appointments. The mass transit is changing, pitting traditional methods against things like rideshare services. According to Richard Farr, Executive Director of Rabbit Transit, technology has been a game changer in services they provide the public. “Now we're paying by cell phones. We used to have to print hundreds of thousands of schedules. It is now an app that tracks the bus in real time and provides people with real time information. So, I think really technology has really pushed us to the forefront, you know, working with Google where you can do trip planning, “said Farr. During the pandemic, mass transit decreased in ridership due to the shut down and social distancing. Greg Downing, Executive Director of the South-Central Transit Authority says they about 85-90 percent of where they were pre pandemic. “A monthly pass for us is forty-two dollars for the regular person and twenty dollars for a student. Now, when you compare what the average car payment is too individual, which is I think in 2025, it's over seven hundred dollars just for a car payment. That's not even including maintenance and insurance. We're talking about just actual dollars going back into someone's pocket. So, we have been constantly just preaching that public transit is the way to go. So, as we continue to build that message and continue to get that message out there, communicate it all to the masses, I'll say we're seeing that more and more. Whereas we had a low before we're starting to kick back up as far as getting our number, our ridership numbers back to where they were, “said Downing. Downing holds a Ph.D. in the relation between religion and science from the University of Edinburgh of Scotland. He also has a bachelor's degree in physics from New York's Hartwick College as well as a degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Dr. Downing has studied the Bible most of his life. . .  Not unusual for a pastor, but what makes his evangelistic career unique is that he has also studied the UFO phenomena since the mid-1950s. The combination of both pursuits resulted in the 1968 publication of his controversial book, “The Bible and Flying Saucers,” which would lay important groundwork regarding the blending of the divine with the theory that earth has been visited by extraterrestrials in ancient times and that these visitations continue to this day. This work is his long awaited sequel in which he expands upon the polemic issues previously put forth, including that the –  ** Parting of the Red Sea in the Bible's Exodus was accomplished by a cylindrical UFO, a cigars haped ship whose kind is still reported.  ** That Jesus was an extraterrestrial sent to earth to rid the world of sin and wickedness, quoting Biblical text to support his claim.  ** That Jesus left earth in a spaceship to another planet, or perhaps another spatial dimension.  ** That angels were actually aliens and that the “angelic aliens” spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai where he boarded a UFO to receive the Ten Commandments and specifications for the construction of the Tabernacle. It was aliens who guided the ancient Israelites, providing them with manna in the wilderness.  ** In the modern world, Downing contends with mainstream religion's refusal to take the subject seriously. Christian liberals don't want to hear the miracles of the Bible were real and Christian conservatives don't want the miracles credited to simple aliens in flying saucers.

Will Downing's daughter, Aron Siobhan Downing, tragically died by suicide on January 11, 2023. She had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. In her memory, Will Downing released a heartfelt song titled “Till We Meet Again,” aiming to raise awareness about mental health and provide comfort to those facing similar challenges. You will see the video in tonight's episode, which Mr. Downing gave us permission to include in this interview. He joins Dr. Delvena on the couch and courageously opened up about this devastating chapter, shedding light on the importance of mental health and the need for support, love, and understanding. His story reminds us to check in on our loved ones and ensure no one feels alone in their struggles. This unimaginable pain has touched not only his family but also countless others who share in their grief. Let's honor her memory by continuing the conversation around mental health and reaching out to those who might be suffering in silence.
