The Beautifully Enough Podcast - a weekly devotional for Christian women
Hey friends! On today's quick tip Tuesday, we are going to dive deep into the real meaning of what "fixing your eyes on Jesus" means. It sounds really good when you say it in a prayer or when you want to sound super religious and spiritual. But what does it really mean? Does it mean to just look to the sky? Or is it something more? And how is this important in my every day walk with God?Check out my website for e-workbooks, courses, info on Beautifully Enough Mentoring and 1-on-1 Christian coaching for women with me!Work with me // www.valreynolds.comConnect with me // @val_reynoldsCollab with me // info@valreynolds.comSupport the show (https://paypal.me/ValarieReynolds?locale.x=en_US)Support the show (https://paypal.me/ValarieReynolds?locale.x=en_US)

Welcome to 30 days to embracing God’s disruptions and detours. Day 3 Transcript: A Nice Little Life Word: Read John 10:10, 2 Cor. 4:16-18 When I was a high school English teacher, one of my biggest frustrations was gifted students who just did enough to get by. No matter how interesting or engaging I made the class, they just wanted to settle for that “C” instead of the “A” they were capable of. They weren’t lazy; just satisfied with not engaging with the learning process. I always chalked it up to the typical teenage apathy some kids have for school. Sometimes I wonder if we have become apathetic about our spiritual growth. In today’s scripture, we sit in on a discussion Jesus is having with the Pharisees about the difference between Satan’s mission and his. “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.” And the path to that destruction is nothing violent or traumatic. The prime tactic the enemy uses to destroy us is to get us to settle for a nice little life. The inherent danger is that a nice little life encourages us to forget there is something more beyond that; something that Jesus promised us in the second half of verse 10: abundant life to the full. The New Living Translation calls it “a rich and satisfying life.” This life isn’t defined by externals: a nice house, a couple cars, good kids, good health, and a vacation every year. It is an internal abiding relationship with a God who walks with us 24/7. It may include some of those externals, but it is never defined by them. Paul put this in perspective for us in 2 Cor. 4:16-18: We don’t lose heart because our light and momentary disruptions are working for us an eternal glory that far outweighs any nice little life the world can give us (my paraphrase). So what do we need to do? We fix our eyes on what is not seen because what is seen (the nice little life) is temporary, but what is not seen is eternal. That which is not seen, my friend, is the abundant life Jesus wants to give us. It is exceedingly, abundantly above and beyond anything we can dare ask or think. (Eph. 3:20) Wait in prayer: Are you in danger of settling for a nice little life—a life of ease? Write a prayer asking Jesus to help you seek the life He has to offer—life to the full. Ask Him to show you areas where you are starting to accept the status quo and not push through to the best life you can live in Him. Ask Him to give you a new attitude towards your “light and momentary troubles.” Nothing we go through in this world can compare to the glory that is being revealed in us. This episode looks at Colossians 1:12, “giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.” We can give thanks with joy to God for the inheritance that he has made us worthy to receive by adopting us into his family through Jesus's blood. May God fix our eyes on this eternal inheritance so that we can face present trials with joy.

When my daughter was in driver's education, I experienced something first hand...you steer where you stare. As you become a more seasoned driver you may be able to take your eyes off of the road and not immediately swerve, but you cannot stay straight without fixing your eyes on the path ahead. Scripture confirms this, and King's Kaleidoscope's song "Fix Your Eyes" helps up meditate on this truth. Let's fix our eyes this week on what Scripture has to teach us about our faith and more. On this week's episode I discuss: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Meditate Complete a word study Read in context Use different translations The 30 Day Music Challenge - ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE HERE How I originally wanted to put word-for-word Scripture to song and how others do it better - Music and resources at seedsfamilyworship.com God’s Word is Truth. The question isn't "what are we going to do," the question is "what aren't we going to do?" In this episode, Jesus becomes sin and death. Performed by the Catalina Church North Worship Team. The group People & Songs included this on their album 'The Emerging Sound, Vol. 4'. They were inspired by the hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" first published in England as a pamphlet in 1918 and then included in a 1922 collection called Glad Songs. Blessings to the People & Songs community for creating such a moving and inspirational piece. There performance of the song can be found on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpXzc8OZ08E).

This week Pastor Luke invites us to run the race before us and run it well, all the while having laser focus on the person of Jesus Christ. There are so many distractions that are taking us away from the pursuit that we sometimes get distracted. We have a call as believers to perform well in the midst of witnesses so they can see the evidence of the one true, living God. Enjoy

Fix My Eyes by For King and Country leads us to a unique challenge to consider the advice we would give our younger selves. It also leads us to consider several verses in God's Word that teach what we should fix our eyes on.
