In The Ricki Lake Show's last season, the Gay Pimp gave people and spaces makeovers, taught us about “metrosexuality,” and tested out some dubious aphrodisiacs. Today, the man behind the Gay Pimp character, Jonny McGovern, joins Ricki and Kalen to talk about the origins of the Gay Pimp, where his career went after his TRLS appearances, and even sings some of his hit song “Soccer Practice” for Ricki and Kalen! Plus, they discuss the myriad reasons why Jonny would not name a character the Gay Pimp today. Please note, Raised By Ricki contains mature themes and may not be appropriate for all listeners. Once again, we were thrilled to be invited by RSVP Vacations to step aboard their Southern Caribbean Cruise last week to tape an episode of the Swish Edition in front of a live studio audience on the ship. Hosts Scott & Steve (Dale sadly missed the boat) came away with some great stuff for y'all! In fact, there was so much of it, we had to release this week's episode in two parts. This is Swish on RSVP Part Two; Part One is available, too. It features the Gay Pimp himself, Jonny McGovern and the very funny Poppi Kramer. First up, the boys welcome back to the show, the incomparable and beautiful Frenchie Davis. Like all of our guests on the cruise, Frenchie was one of the featured entertainers and this power-house singer certainly blew the roof off the theater's roof on the first night. When she sat down with us, she talked about her time on reality TV; how she creates her cover and original song arrangements; why she decided to sport the bald look; why her size K breasts need some loving support; and much more. It's a great conversation that y'all will enjoy. After that, the hilarious and chicken-lovin' comedienne Jessica Kirson steps up to the stage. She'll have you in stitches when she talks about the black woman inside; her masturbatory methods; her new role as a cop in a major motion picture; her step-brother Zach Braff; her thoughts on gay cruises; and OH so much more. Jessica has become a great friend of the show and each and every time she's on, she makes up spit up our drinks! In a good way. But the piece de resistance is the Slight Dirty Gay Password game we play at the end of the episode. Frenchie and Jessica each teamed up with a member of the audience for a game show like none you've ever seen--or heard--before! Trust us, it's funny. And it ends with prizes donated by our good friends at Nasty Pig clothing company! And finally, a big thank you to the great folks at RSVP for all of their help and their kind invitation. A special shout out goes to Jeff Gundvaldson, Rachel Pearson and Brad Loekle!
The Swish Edition was thrilled to be invited by RSVP Vacations to step aboard their Southern Caribbean Cruise last week to tape episodes of the Swish Edition in front of live studio audiences on the ship. And, wow, hosts Scott & Steve (Dale sadly missed the boat) came away with some great stuff for y'all! In fact, there was so much of it, they had to release this week's episode in two parts. This is Swish on RSVP Part One; Part Two will drop on February 21. First up, the boys welcome the absolutely hilarious good sport, the Gay Pimp himself, Jonny McGovern. Jonny talks about his obsession with the Golden Girls, how he creates his original and parody songs, why he made the big move from New York City to Los Angeles, why he drives a purple car, all about his super hot Saturday night party at Fubar, his big gay podcast weekend in Florida, and much more. Scott & Steve were in stitches and were tickled pink to chat with one of their own gay idols. And we've got Jonny's Sexy Nerd song for ya, too! After that, the quick witting and super cute Poppi Kramer joins the boys on the stage. Poppi is a stand-up comedienne in New York City and this chick is so super cool, even when she cuts Scott down a size or two! We talk gay cruises with Poppi along with why she can't do the lesbian cruises because they're all too emotional; how she got started in comedy, by accident; how she found herself as a contestant on NBC's The Biggest Loser; why she shies away from fisting; and much, much more. You've just got to check out Poppi the next time you're in the NYC area. She's a super hoot. What you won't hear on this episode is all the pop culture news and personal stories you've come to expect from the podcast. But never fear, Dale, Scott & Steve will be back with a traditional episode on February 26, with tons of the crazy stories that happened at sea on the big gay cruise. Until then, don't forget to stream of download Part Two of Episode 215, too. It features the beautiful and talented Frenchie Davis and the always knee-slappin' Jessica Kirson. It was also taped on the ship with a very enthusiastic audience and it drops on February 21 and will be available forever afterwards whenever you want to listen. And finally, a big thank you to the great folks at RSVP for all of their help and their kind invitation. A special shout out goes to Jeff Gundvaldson, Rachel Pearson and Brad Loekle!
For our 50th episode, we welcome a new-comer to the show! New York City-based blogger/nightlife promoter/author JUSTIN LUKE joins the Swish Edition as a Senior Contributor. This former podcaster certainly knows his stuff and for his first assignment he sits down in our new NYC satellite studio to chat with the Gay Pimp himself, top comedy podcaster & singer/songwriter extraordinaire JONNY McGOVERN. We're thrilled to have Jonny on the show and you'll hear all about his current projects, including his new Sexy Nerd track, his hot new videos, his big move to L.A., and much more. It all starts at the 33:00 mark. We're big fans of the Pimp and thrilled to have Justin--a New York power gay in his own right--as a member of our family. After that, we catch up with one of our favorite funny ladies, LISA LAMPANELLI. We ring her up to find out about the television reality show pilot she's currently filming for Logo, her take on the new "Dancing with the Stars" cast, why a gay guy got engaged in her bathroom, why she's missing the Charlie Sheen roast, and much more. A great friend of the show, Lisa had us rolling on the floor and we're thrilled to welcome her to the show for a third time. Her piece begins at the 57:00 mark. Also on this golden episode... Steve tells tales from his trip to Southern Decadence in NOLA; Dale & Scott lose (and loose) in Atlantic City; Cinnamon the Clown wins over toddlers with his origami skills; God hates fag enablers (care of the Westboro Baptist Church); Dale over-shares; Britney LOVES "Babies" and "crazies," (care of Adam Goldman); Cher IS going to be in the DWTS audience to cheer on Chaz; Seth Knight and CAMP gets lots of hits; Cheyeene Jackson gets hitched; Lady Gaga & Cyndi Lauper are super straights; and, Much more! Episode 150 is called, "Golden Anniversary." Despite the "1" in front of it...this is our 50th episode.
August is here and things are hotter than ever, especially in the studio. This week, we have two great chats with two very different creative people: Faith Michaels & Justin Luke. First up, Steve takes control of the mic and talks to his friend Faith Michaels (seen above). She's a cabaret performer in Key West, Florida where she channels the likes of Celine Dion, Reba McIntire and Lady Gaga at her very own show at Aqua. She's got a racy new song out called Fetish and we not only have the song but we find out how it was created...and more importantly, how it was inspired. Get ready, guys, this conversation gets a little dirty. (But what else is new?) Then, Scott rings up New York City event promoter/blogger/writer and all around busy guy, Justin Luke (right) to dish about his sexy gay beach read, Gulliver Travels, as well as his weekly dance parties that he produces through his BoiParty event company. This kid is everywhere and we're thanking God that he isn't podcasting anymore! We think you'll really like what he has to say. BTW, we couldn't fit the whole conversation with Justin into this week's episode--including how to hire & keep a go-go boy happy and the fetish that is the redhead--so if you want to hear the whole thing, uncut, you can stream it right here. Also on this episode... Jason's smoothies; GLAAD's annual report card on television & the gays; The Gay Pimp's new "Sexy Nerd" video; Miley gets a new tattoo; You won't get arrested in New Orleans for a blowjob; The "Real Housewives of DC" might get a second chance; GayCities.com has a cool new feature; and, We've got a WINNER for our iTunes gift card giveaway! Episode 145 is called, "Once Again With Feeling," since we had to tape it TWICE due to a technical error. Sigh.
