Community of Christ's 2025 World Conference passed the G-10 resolution, entitled “Earth Stewardship Affirmation.” While some question the need for such a resolution, there is no doubt that the call for accountability was heard and supported.  The question remains whether or not the “support” will manifest itself in necessary action. Chai Can't Even usually focuses on young adults and why they stay in the church, but this time, host Blake Smith is sitting down with Tore Nilsen, whose grandfather was one of the first converts in Norway, and who is himself in his 80s. We could all use a little reminding every once in a while. In the midst of chaos and hectic schedules, the call to do something uncomfortable is easily shrugged off with extremely relevant rationalizations as to why we can't.  That's why Jesus promised an advocate.  Unfortunately, however, the advocate of whom he spoke is not there to speak on our behalf, but rather to remind us of our call and conviction. We have been given the peace of Christ to reside in us, and that, believe it or not, is enough to get us through. The word Zion has been an integral part of Community of Christ's journey as a people, but now it is being used by others in ways that are confusing and contradictory. Many look to their faith for direction and answers to things happening in the world while others suggest that the church should stick to theology and spirituality. The reality is that churches are speaking up about justice issues facing the world and especially in the United States, but where is Community of Christ' voice in all of this? There are people who wonder why Community of Christ seems silent in the midst of injustices being experienced by so many.  In this Extra Shot episode, which is a cross-post from a personal posting of Matt Frizzell, Matt makes it clear that the church has spoken.  As a matter of fact, we the church, have been speaking for decades through legislation and conference action.
