Making the switch to renewable energy sources takes creativity, and there is still work to be done, but it is possible.  Join host Susan Oxley for a continuation of her conversation with Andrew Fellows about ways to respond to the climate crisis we are facing.  It's not only the right thing to do, but it can actually save you money. This is coming from Andrew, who was the first in his community to step up, and who now has over a decade of proof showing how renewable energy can save money and move us closer to saving the planet. It's definitely worth a listen, followed by consideration of how we can all be a part of the change.   Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. “It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” At least once the Good Samaritan comes along. This week's episode has Karin and Blake journeying with Jesus in the 10th chapter of Luke, and talking about what it takes to be “like a good neighbor...” Karin encourages us to emphasize hospitality as a counter to hostility, and rate ourselves on a five-point scale for compassion.  Where would you rank yourself ... hostile or hospitable? Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. It's time to get some new “clothes.”  Who doesn't like that? Right? But there's a small catch... we have to wait a little bit. Just stay here and wait, Jesus says ... until you are clothed in the Holy Spirit. The reality is that we could all use an excuse to get a little rest.  It is in resting that we are able to receive the blessing of the Spirit's presence. We could all use a little reminding every once in a while. In the midst of chaos and hectic schedules, the call to do something uncomfortable is easily shrugged off with extremely relevant rationalizations as to why we can't.  That's why Jesus promised an advocate.  Unfortunately, however, the advocate of whom he spoke is not there to speak on our behalf, but rather to remind us of our call and conviction. We have been given the peace of Christ to reside in us, and that, believe it or not, is enough to get us through. Come listen in as Karin and Blake talk this one through and give us some things to think about and some things to put into action. Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. It is perhaps one of the easiest commandments to speak, and yet one of the hardest to put into action. We live in a world where it seems to have become easier to build walls than to sit and listen to one another... much less love one another. The lights have all gone out. The unimaginable has happened. The one we love is gone. What will we do now? On this Good Friday, hosts Karin Peter and Blake Smith offer only a scripture and a blessing. Sometimes, it is all we can do to sit in the rage, the disappointment, the loss, the grief... wondering if the light will return. In those moments, it has to be enough to wait. The darkest part of the night is right before the dawn, but the dawn does come. Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. The room has been chosen. The table is set, and as you enter, Jesus kneels to wash your feet.  What would your reaction be? Remember, Jesus knows you better than you know yourself, so will you try and refuse as Peter did, or learn from the experience? Join hosts Karin Peter and Blake Smith on this Maundy Thursday for a close look at a very intimate event in which Jesus makes a final attempt to teach the disciples a valuable lesson. Don't worry, it's not “goodbye.” It's more like “see you later!” Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. Palms waving, disciples lining the road and calling out, cloaks thrown on the ground to pave the way. It's political pageantry at its best ... and its most humble. All the way to the end, Jesus keeps us guessing by doing the unexpected. Join hosts, Karin Peter and Blake Smith, for a deeper dive into this week's passage from the Gospel of Luke, where stallions are replaced by beasts of burden, and cries of “save us” turn to “Crucify Him.” It's going to be a long week, but at least we know how the story ends. Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. Many look to their faith for direction and answers to things happening in the world while others suggest that the church should stick to theology and spirituality. The reality is that churches are speaking up about justice issues facing the world and especially in the United States, but where is Community of Christ' voice in all of this? There are people who wonder why Community of Christ seems silent in the midst of injustices being experienced by so many.  In this Extra Shot episode, which is a cross-post from a personal posting of Matt Frizzell, Matt makes it clear that the church has spoken.  As a matter of fact, we the church, have been speaking for decades through legislation and conference action. The only thing left to wonder is when we will use the words, witness, and vision of our prophetic voice to stand against the injustices whose existence we have long acknowledged as a people. Find a summary list of resolutions mentioned by Matt with his video posting, here.Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Project Zion Podcast!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285.
