I have a feeling that, pretty soon, I'm going to have to rename this podcast “Recency Bias,” since I've received a ton of requests from people who want to come on the show and talk about shows from Phish's 2025 summer tour. Not that it hasn't happened before, but there was something about this tour that awakened the fanbase. People who saw Phish for the first time, or the 200th time are eager to talk about 2025. Luckily, for today's episode, my friends Casey and Jenn have a great story to tell, as we explore their summer through bookends of the 2025 tour. We review the third night of the opening run in Manchester, June 22, 2024 then fast forward to the tour closing show: night three at Saratoga, 7/27/25.If you are a regular listener, you may remember Casey and Jenn from their preview of the SNHU Arena in Manchester during the summer venue preview series. They both live in Manchester, and decided to get married before night 1 of that run. That obviously made the night special in its own way, but it wasn't until the third night of Manchester where Phish dropped a Tweezerfest in the 2nd set where everything clicked musically.Then there's the third night of SPAC where Phish played one of the most memorable shows in years. The first set caught everyone off guard as the band blended great, cohesive jamming with unprecedented setlist games, playing Tweezer Reprise to end nearly every song. Although the venue was still standing as we left, our minds were shattered in the best ways possible.It's not often that the first and last stands of a summer tour have the same energy and memorable personalities, but 2025 is the gift that keeps on giving. This week I chat with Heather Mueur who is the owner, founder, and visionary behind The Embers, a glamping and RV resort in Branson, Missouri. Heather and her husband Ryan built and sold an auto parts business, and used the proceeds from that to purchase this abandoned campground.  Heather takes us through the 2-year process of permits, plans, and construction, as well as the financing process–everything from SBA loans to finding investors. First, you should know that we're okay! Second, the beauty of our campground hosting adventure is that we got out of it alive – but it was a close one. After fourteen months of pain, denial, healing and stewing over what could have been, we are finally able to share our sorry work-camping story without having to post a red FOUL LANGUAGE warning at the top of the page. We'd hoped to just keep it quiet, move on, nurse our wounds, wash our mouths out with soap and pretend it never happened. But trauma doesn't work that way. If you don't "go there" it will come and get you. If what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, then we hope our story helps others. Every Saturday, the campground has a small craft show, and these two have fully embraced their roles as creative kidpreneurs. From their own 3D printed custom designs and handmade earrings to slime and custom stickers, they're making, selling, and managing it all themselves (no help from Mom and Dad!).

In John's gospel, chapter 16, the very last verse, Jesus told His followers, “In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” That's the KJV. In another translation, that verse reads this way: “While you are in the world, you will have to suffer. But cheer up! I have defeated the world.” That sounds like something we all could use, doesn't it? For the next few minutes we will be thinking about how Jesus was able to deal with suffering, hardships, and all other kinds of situations. Now is the time they come up to feed on the freshly hatched perch fry, but it takes a special technique to find and catch the HUGE ones and you guessed it, Ross is one that truly knows how to do it!
