We discuss how DAOs will change how society collaborates and works. Eric details how DAOs are still in their infancy and how he envisions the technology being adopted across a wide range of different industries. Our next major topic of discussion was the Near Protocol. Eric details why Near is a next generation layer 1 that has been optimized for mass adoption and real world use-cases. He discusses why Near is the perfect protocol for unlocking the value of Web3 and the future of DAOs. He touches on the strength of the Near community and the technical prowess of the founding team. Our next conversation topic was about the growth of the crypto industry and where we envision the industry headed. Eric discusses how surreal it is for him to see how far the crypto industry has come in only a decade but he emphasized how things are still very early. He discusses why there is still a tremendous amount of opportunity for nontechnical people to become involved in the space and what he would advise people who are interested in making the leap into crypto. In dealing with the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, many businesses have been forced to shut down temporarily, schools have closed, and many are quarantined in their homes. On this episode of The Tatiana Show, we invited military veteran and business development manager with GoCoin, Dionna Bailey, to discuss the role of the armed forces and the government during this time of crisis. Dionna joined the army in 1998, a month after her 17th birthday, and served a total of 18 years with 4 combat tours in places such as Bosnia and Iraq. She gives her thoughts on: What can we expect when the President declares a state of emergency and what will the military’s role be in this? How would the military and police force act if there were civil unrest in the U.S.? Has the media created more hysteria than needed surrounding the virus? We also discuss if the military is properly held accountable for war crimes, the frustrations of troops with defense contractors, and the controversy surrounding Julian Assange’s leaks. About the Guests: Dionna Bailey is currently the business development manager with GoCoin, has served as an ambassador for Nexus technology, and is a cryptocurrency and blockchain enthusiast. This Army medic veteran recently retired after serving 18 years and four combat tours, one in which she was awarded a bronze star. Today, Liberty Entrepreneurs welcomes Jon Holmquist to the show. Jon is the Head of Marketing at GoCoin and GoPayWin.com. He was the founder of Bitcoin Black Friday, worked at The Bitcoin Store, and Coinabul. You can connect with Jon, and find out more about some of his entrepreneurial endeavors and insight on bitcoin and blockchains below: @Jon_HQ http://www.jonhq.com/ http://gocoin.com/ https://www.gopaywin.com/ http://money.cnn.com/2013/11/26/technology/bitcoin-black-friday/index.html Jon was introduced to the world of working online through gaming, receiving affiliate marketing checks as he was just entering high school. When he reached the legal age of work, he did apply to minimum wage jobs, and didn't get hired for any of them. Jon was introduced to bitcoin by his brother who works at Wikipedia. Jon didn't become interested in bitcoin until after he become sick of driving an hour and a half to play poker. He realized that there were sites online where he could play poker for bitcoin. He is now the Head of Marketing at GoCoin, where he is focusing on the adult industry now, and getting them to accept bitcoin, and figuring out how to get their customers to use it. Some early bitcoin startup work for Jon included Coinabul, where he left do to a disagreement with the CEO. Coinabul in 2013 became a defacto exchange – allowing people to cash out while not using the less than reliable exchanges like Mt. Gox at the time. Jon was a big part of the success of The Bitcoin Store, founded by previous 2x Liberty Entrepreneur guest Roger Ver. The Bitcoin Store answered the question, when the other answers at the time were pretty sparse: “But what can you actually buy with bitcoin?” Roger's unique goal: Make Bitcoin Store so successful that it would run itself out of business. In the interview we get Jon's insight on why hasn't Amazon accepted bitcoin yet. Favorite Quote on finding developers to work with your project: “If you are looking for programmers, the best thing to do is to find people who are working on side projects on github, that aren't related to their main job, especially during the work day. Because it means they are bored out of their mind at their main job.” We talk about how to turn side-projects and hobbies into an entrepreneurial lifestyle, or as Jon puts it, 'embracing the chaos'. That's it for this week's episode. Keep. Building. Freedom.
