We often talk about hungering for God, but what does that actually look like? In this sermon from Exodus 16, we consider how God provided manna in the wilderness—and what that says about our own spiritual hunger today. It's not just a history lesson; it's a call to examine whether we're truly seeking what God freely gives, or if we've grown dull and satisfied with lesser things. There are warnings here, but also a lot of encouragement—especially if you feel your hunger for the Lord has faded. This isn't about hype or emotion—it's about real dependence on God's daily provision, and what it means to come to Christ, the true Bread from Heaven.
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” We are glad you are joining us this Palm Sunday as we begin our Holy Week services here at Timberlake Church. In this final week of our series called "Hungry for God," Pastor Brad talks about the "stuff" we carry around and how God wants us to release the burden of carrying that weight to Him, this is why we practice fasting... and its not just about food. This is the Timberlake Church online podcast, we are glad to have you join us for worship this week.
Physical hunger is not your only craving. You also possess a spiritual hunger. This appetite also cries out to be fed. Both types of hunger were created by God. Physical hunger can only be satisfied by food. Spiritual hunger can only be satisfied by God.Main Points:1. You have a longing in your soul for God. Many feel the yearning but do not recognize that it is spiritual in nature. They feel a sense of emptiness and dissatisfaction with life. So many people are thinking, “There must be something more to life. What am I missing?”2. In an attempt to satisfy their hunger, they go on a search. Attempts are made to gratify this spiritual emptiness with temporary, earthly things, only to be left with greater hunger.3. So, let me give you the good news. Only Jesus can satisfy our spiritual hunger. Why? Because God designed us in such a way. Only God can fill the void in our souls. A relationship with Jesus is so nourishing and so satisfying that we will wonder why we neglected Him for so long. We will wonder why we bought into the deception of this world it could offer what we needed.Today's Scripture Verses:Psalm 107:9 - “For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.”Matthew 5:6 - “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

In week five of our series, "Hunger for God," Pastor Brad explains what the true purpose of a fast is, how it honors God to do it properly and the relationship between the love we have for Him and the love we have for people. Welcome to the Timberlake Church online podcast, we are glad to have you join us for worship this week.
This week Pastor Brad talks about how fasting and prayer produce Holiness in our lives. Ever wonder why you continue to sin, even though you are following Jesus...? You are in good company, even the Apostle Paul wrestled with his flesh. We cannot beat sin through pure willpower, but through the grace of God we have been saved. This is week four of our series, "A Hunger for God," this is the Timberlake Church online podcast, we pray that God blesses you today as you join us today.
Our city is filled with entertainment, pleasure, and the best food and drink. If we are not careful we can allow the pursuit of these things to become the main focus in life. Jesus wants his followers to prioritize their relationship with God over the amusements of our city. In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus calls his followers to fasting, an often neglected practice that intensifies our desires for more of God.
As we continue our series, "A Hunger for God," Pastor Jesse speaks to us this week on how we should approach Biblical Fasting. Is it merely abstaining from something temporarily, or is there a deeper intent to fasting, and how do we engage with this practice to achieve the purpose God has for us through a fast? This is the Timberlake Church online podcast, we pray that God blesses you today as you join us for worship.
Continuing our series on the Community Trellis, Nathan shares a message bases out of Matthew 4:1-4 around our daily practice of: "Whole-body hunger for God to deepen your dependence on God — Incorporate a 24-hour fastinto your weekly routine".For resources go to c3northperth.com.au/trellis/whole-body-hunger-for-god/

Being “Presence-driven” is focusing on connecting to God, which is a Liberty core value. We were created with the capacity to be hungry for God, craving to know Him and the power of His love. It is hunger for God that leads me into His Presence. We can enter His Presence hungry and also leave hungry for more! Pursuing God keeps me passionate for Him, to connect to His character, His heart and His power. Being in His Presence allows me to experience Him, and then I find out that I thrive when I am in His Presence. I am living proof that God is still moving and changing people's hearts, and there is nothing He can't do!

Elder Herbert Lindo and Pastor Dawn taught why connection to God and to one another is one of Liberty's core values. Herbert explained why God created us to intentionally and purposefully connect with Him and with each other, though satan hinders this and subverts us to be self-centered and disconnected. The Cross portrays our VERTICAL connection with God, and our HORIZONTAL mandate to love one another. It is a very special connection to invite people into your home and share your hospitality. Pastor Dawn imparted the truth to us that the greatest thing we can do in life is connect with God, and then with others on purpose to receive and give. Concentrate on these important things to be an influencer and draw others to God: 1) your earnest pursuit of God, 2) your capacity to recognize and value the giftings and anointings of those around you who are pursuing God, and 3) keep honor for these ministers of God alive in your heart. These three characteristics stir up your hunger for God and release God to impart awesome things of the Spirit to you, and He will cause you to influence your friends and family for God

Sermons – New Life in Christ Church | Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania
Through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus shows us how to live a grace-filled life built upon his finished work on the cross. While Jesus speaks of fasting as a normal course of life, it is not so normal for many of us. While Jesus addresses the problems in his day with the way the religious hypocrites fasted, we need to consider our lack of fasting and ask if there is something for us to learn here. So, today we ask, why should we fast?
Read Online“Rabbi, when did you get here?” Jesus answered them and said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” John 6:25–27The day before, Jesus fed the crowds at the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish. The next day, the people were hungry again, so they went looking for Jesus thinking that He might miraculously feed them again. In the passage above, Jesus uses their physical hunger to point them to a deeper spiritual reality. Each one of us is hungry. We continually have cravings that we want satiated. Certainly, food and drink are among our cravings, but the deepest craving we each have is a spiritual one. The problem is that we often try to satiate ourselves in ways that will never satisfy us. Therefore, we each need to hear Jesus say, “Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” What is that food that the Son of Man will give to us? Of course, it is His very Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. It is the Most Holy Eucharist. This passage begins the lengthy “Bread of Life Discourse” from which we will read over the next three Sundays. Throughout this discourse, Jesus makes it clear that His flesh is true food and His blood is true drink. Eating Jesus' flesh and blood is the only way to eternal life. Some who listen to this teaching find that it is too difficult to accept and, as a result, reject Jesus and His teaching. The discourse ends with Jesus asking the Twelve if they want to leave too. Peter gives the perfect response by saying, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”As we ponder this teaching of Jesus over the next few weekends, it is important to start with the foundation. The foundation is our spiritual hunger. We each experience it. We each are aware of it. We cannot escape it. For that reason, look into your own soul. What do you see? Do you see a certain restlessness and unfulfilled desire? Do you sense the cravings within your own soul? When you see this, know that you have discovered the starting point of the life of fulfillment. Unless you can see that hunger within, you cannot turn to the source of satiation. The Eucharist is the source of all that we long for in life; however, too often we fail to see that. We can easily fall into the trap of seeing the Eucharist as an obligation we must meet each week. Sometimes Mass can even be seen as an inconvenience. If this is your struggle, try to use the next few Sundays to reexamine your understanding of the Most Holy Eucharist.Sunday Mass, more than anything else in life, must be understood as the source of our deepest satisfaction in life. It must be seen as the answer to every interior longing and restlessness we have. It is not money, recognition, status, power, or anything else in life that fulfills us. It is God. And God comes to us first and foremost in the celebration of the Mass. Do you believe this? Do you understand?Reflect, today, and for the next few weeks, upon the Gift of the Most Holy Eucharist. As you do, try to see it as the answer to every interior longing and hunger that you have in life. Try to make an act of faith in this spiritual truth. If you do not regularly experience the satiation offered by consuming the Eucharist, ask yourself why not. Believe in everything that Jesus teaches in this holy discourse of the Bread of Life. If you do, you will also begin to receive the nourishment that our Lord promises. My Eucharistic Lord, You are the Bread of Life and the source of all satisfaction in life. Your Body and Blood, given to me through my participation in the Holy Mass, is the greatest Gift I could ever receive. Please renew and deepen my love for You in this Gift so that I will find full satisfaction and fulfillment in You alone. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Gavin Lubbe - Our Need For Love Is Actually Our Hunger For God by Living Faith Church
The dominant narrative is that Western culture is headed for ever greater levels of atheism, agnosticism, or at least departure from belief in the Christian God. Andy Crouch returns from his sabbatical to question this narrative. He points out that the dominant secular worldview of the West - deterministic, rationalistic, and reductionist - is starting to run on empty. Can this lead to a greater hunger for the Christian God? Curtis and Andy examine what Christians would need to do to meet this hunger, including reexamining our own understanding of the Gospel itself.
