MOBILE — The Mobile County Commission on Monday said it is powerless to ban a proposed data center in Calvert after opposed citizens cited noise pollution, water contamination and wetlands and wildlife concerns. Beacon Data Centers has proposed a billion technology campus in northern Mobile County that would occupy approximately 95 acres of a 650-acre tract between U.S. Highway 43 and Shepard House Road in Calvert. The remaining property would remain largely undisturbed as managed timberland and natural buffer areas, according to the company. However, Mobile County does not have home rule, meaning it cannot stop the project because... Article Link
I remember trying on clothes with my mom in a Calvert's store in Needham, MA (big in New England back in the day) and feeling nauseous and overwhelmed every time we walked in. I couldn't explain it. The lighting, the energy, something about that space just didn't sit right in my body. This happened a lot growing up. I'd beg my mom to pick me up early from certain friends' homes, and at others I never wanted to leave because the energy felt so good. I sensed it young and could never put my finger on why. Have you ever walked into a space and just felt something, without knowing why. A church, a temple, an old building, maybe even a room in your own house that never felt right? My friend Dr. Lydia De Leon has spent her whole life studying that feeling, and it turns out there is real science behind it. She has a PhD in sacred architecture, she's measured the energy fields inside ancient temples all over the world, and what she shares is absolutely stunning. We get into sacred geometry, why your bedroom might be sitting over an energetic disturbance without you knowing it, and the five levels she uses to bring a body or a building back into harmony. The story about her own health crisis in a brand new apartment is wild (and honestly explained so much for me about my own space over the years). Oh, and Dr. Lydia is also leading a retreat this fall inside the gorgeous living temples of Damanhur in Italy, hand carved with no machines. She's sharing a special code for 400 euros off! Check it out here and if you're feeling the pull use the code YOU. These two new, site-specific audio stories are designed as self-guided experiences for listeners on nature trails near Sugarloaf Cove in Schroeder, Minn. A launch celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. After that, the stories will remain available year-round. You can check out a listening device from the Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center, or you can download the audio any time and listen on your phone. Walsh says: “One of the walks really invites us into the history of that site. Another of the walks just invites us to just sit down and receive the offerings of the place. For myself, I do a lot of efficient listening to things: I walk my dog and I listen to podcasts and I fill my brain with information. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to put something in my ears that doesn't take me away from my body and away from the landscape around me, but actually invites me towards both of those things.” A bluegrass band with a punk spirit Rachel Felicia Calvert is a fiddle, vocalist, and music educator living in Minneapolis. She recommends that people explore the music of bluegrass band Pert Near Sandstone and their recent album “Side by Side.” They perform Thursday, July 9 at Milk and Honey Ciders in St. Joseph at 7 p.m. and Friday, July 10 in Jackson, Minn. as part of the 20th annual Rhythm of the River Festival. Calvert says: “Sometimes I describe them as if, like, a punk band played bluegrass music. They just bring more of a rocker sensibility to this old folk music that they perform. They are excellent live—just wonderful. They have a really beautiful community of fans as well. They're also really great mentors to up-and-coming bands.” A funny, heartfelt musical about acceptanceTwin Cities vocalist Jennifer Eckes is looking forward to seeing the musical “The Prom” performed at Lyric Arts in Anoka. The musical comedy, which was on Broadway in 2018-2019, is set in a small town in Indiana that chooses to cancel its high school prom rather than allow two girls to attend together. Four Broadway actors grab onto this cause and decide to throw a prom for the school. “Mayhem ensues,” Eckes said. She added that the show has a message of acceptance. The production runs July 10 through Aug. 9. Of Lyric Arts, Eckes says: “It's a lovely little theater, very intimate. There's not a bad seat in the house. This production is bound to be chockfull of great talent, great singing, great music, great dancing," said Eckes. "I have every confidence it's going to be a gangbuster show.”

In this episode, Dean breaks down Calvert's unique $20K-down flip and BRRRR program, how their in-house appraisal team gives real estate investors a genuine edge on after-repair value, and how they've been closing deals in 24 hours since before it was a selling point. We also get into the story behind CAMLA, why Dean went to 20 competitors to solve a compliance problem and ended up building Canada's national alternative lending association. Dean makes the case for why calling ourselves "private lenders" may be hurting the industry, what the 2025 CAMLA position paper means for regulators and consumers, and the real risks posed by unregulated lenders operating outside the system. In this episode of The Last Shot Podcast, we sit down with writer-director Misha Calvert to discuss her powerful new film FAULT — a dramatic feature based on a true story that confronts grooming and abuse in professional sports, and the systems that allow it to go unchecked. Selected for the 2026 Tribeca Festival, FAULT has been called a timely and unflinching look at power, silence, and survival — drawing comparisons to the Epstein-era reckoning still playing out across institutions today.Misha opens up about what drew her to this story, the responsibility of telling it truthfully, and what she hopes audiences take away after the credits roll. A must-listen for anyone following this year's most important festival premieres.#fyp #explore #foryou #trending #viral #podcastclips #podcastmoment #newpodcast #mustlisten #listennow #spotifypodcasts

Dom joins the pod this week to reflect on his debut season at Elland Road, his England call up and the influences on his career. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
We discuss Elland Road for the final home game of the season, and what a way to sign off - a 95th-minute winner from Dominic Calvert-Lewin to beat Brighton 1-0 and extend Leeds United's unbeaten Premier League run to eight matches, the longest top-flight unbeaten streak since 2001. In this episode we unpack a remarkable afternoon at Elland Road: the carnival atmosphere, the defensive masterclass from Bijol, Rodon and Sebastiaan Bornauw, Karl Darlow's case for cult hero status, and Calvert-Lewin's instinctive pounce on Jan Paul van Hecke's error to ignite the stadium. Going into the final day, only five teams have lost fewer Premier League matches than Leeds this season - Arsenal, Man City, Man United, Bournemouth and Aston Villa. Eleven sides below us have lost more. Time to reframe what this season actually was. We get into Daniel Farke's extraordinary pre-match press conference where the German declared his "mission fulfilled" and "job done" - and why those headlines aren't what they look like. Plus the Wilfried Gnonto to Freiburg story, whether Leeds have actually let him down (spoiler: no), and Darragh floats a smart loan-without-obligation idea that could suit everybody. Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and the players who've built this thing from the ground up. Brendan Aaronson's development. The Sean Longstaff debate that won't die. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's England chances heading into the World Cup. David O'Leary's frustrating Overlap interview. And the disgusting Luke Ayling incident at Southampton. Then we look ahead to the final day at the London Stadium where West Ham could already be relegated by the time Leeds kick off. Up the Whites.

GOD GAVE ME A SOBERING REVIEW OF MY LIFE DURING A NDE AND IT WAS LIFE CHANGING (OLIVER JOHN CALVERT)
What if someone asked you point-blank: Are you holy? Would you hesitate? Laugh it off? Maybe cringe a little? You're not alone—and that reaction reveals a deeper belief many of us carry without even realizing it. Somewhere along the way, many of us have come to believe that holiness is reserved for heaven—that here and now, “trying our best” is enough. But what if that's not true? What if holiness isn't just the goal… but a present reality for the believer? In today's episode, we're unpacking a powerful and often overlooked lie: holiness is something we strive for, but never actually live in. Join me as I interview Tasha Calvert, author of Set Apart for More. In this episode of That Tech Pod, Kevin and Laura sit down with IT entrepreneur Rob Calvert, founder of Second Son Consulting and a longtime leader in the Apple enterprise ecosystem. After being laid off in the early 2000s, Rob built his consulting firm from a home office into the largest member of the Apple Consultants Network in Los Angeles and one of the top firms in the country. Drawing on more than 25 years advising companies across dozens of industries, he shares a grounded look at what actually makes technology succeed or fail inside real organizations. The conversation even opens with an unexpected detour into “Punch the monkey,” a viral zoo story that sparks a debate about how easily people question or misread what they see online in the age of AI (Laura swears this is a real monkey while Kevin thinks its GenAI to sell toys). From there, the conversation explores why most people only notice IT when something breaks and how that mindset leads to bad leadership decisions. Rob argues many “tech problems” are really culture and workflow problems, pointing to common mistakes like letting experimental tools quietly become production systems or constantly chasing new platforms without fully implementing the ones already in place. The result is wasted budgets, burned-out IT teams, and systems that drift away from how people actually work. They also get into the Mac vs. PC debate in the enterprise, the subtle ways companies waste millions in IT spending, and the gap between AI hype and real business impact. Rob says many small and mid-sized companies are spending a lot of time evaluating AI tools but seeing very little return so far, while larger organizations may eventually benefit through heavy customization. At the end of the episode, Rob finally agrees to go look up Punch the monkey.
Dean Douglas Sweeney talks with Beeson professor Reginald Calvert, who also serves as pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama.
