So today, our problem is that we tend to focus too much on accomplishments, instead of prioritizing character development. John Rosemond, author of A Family of Value, talks about parental discipline, strengthening marriage, and creating a stable family by emphasizing the “three R's”–respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness. About Today's Guest: John Rosemond John Rosemond is one of America's best known and respected parenting experts, and is founder and director of The Leadership Parenting Institute. His nationally-syndicated newspaper column, one of the longest running in the lifestyle industry (since 1976), is carried in more than 200 newspapers nationwide. He is a family psychologist, author of 18 best-selling books on parenting and family issues, and is a very busy public speaker. But among his most prized achievements are being married to his wife, Willie, for over 50 years, and being the father of two grown children and the grandfather of seven. When kids misbehave, he recommends the consequence of “kicking them out of the Garden of Eden.” When the child comes home from school, his room is stripped bare to the essentials. No toys. No music. And he's going to live this way until his attitude improves, and remains improved for at least a month. It's showing confidence in your authority. Feelings It used to be that when a parent needed advice for parenting they would go to a trusted and seasoned family member like a grandparent, an aunt, or an uncle - even if the child had behavioral problems. And if that didn't help, then the parent usually went to their pastor or clergy. But today we see that behavioral issues are viewed many times as clinical issues and this has given birth to what many refer to as the mental health industrial complex. What You Need to Know is Josh Hawley is leading on the issues America needs. Banning TikTok, as he's suggesting, is a serious discussion to have. It comes down to not only the threat Communist China poses to our nation and what security breaches TikTok opens for America, but about the very mental health and state of our youth! Even if we all believe social media is a rot to our brains, adults have the right to do what they want with their time, typically, but we have a long history of protecting the developing minds and bodies of our youngsters. Whether it's substance consumption or driving privileges or digital privacy — we should and do protect our kids differently than we regulate adults. Why not with a foreign-owned social media app that is quite literally trying to shape their brains? Hawley is leading on this and it's a serious conversation we ALL should have. John Rosemond — family psychologist, columnist, speaker, and best-selling author on parenting — talks about the state of families and motherhood and fatherhood in America today. He says the advice from modern parenting books and psychologists is a farce! It's causing problems, not fixing them. John has great ideas for us all on how to raise responsible adults through love and leadership as parents. Visit Rosemond.com and ParentGuru.com to find all of his work.  Thomas J. Baker, 33-year FBI veteran and author, joins us to talk about his new book The Fall of the FBI: How a Once Great Agency Became a Threat to Democracy. Baker contends that the Mueller–Comey cabal twisted the once-respected law enforcement agency into a politicized intelligence organization. When something is brand new does that make it better than something that is old?  At first thought we might think yes, but the older we get the more often we see that just because something is new does not mean it is better.  In today's show we get to learn more about this idea through one of the most notable parenting experts of our times.  During this show John Rosemond joins us to share his experiences, knowledge, and wisdom that he has gained through his years as a psychologist in the  area of parenting.John began teaching parents in the 1970's and 80's.  When he first began he was doing what all the other psychologist were doing.  But he began to question what he was actually saying to parents.  In fact, he began studying and observing what he and his colleagues were saying and realizing that they truly were not helping parents and children like they thought they were.   This made him look back at his own experience of being parented and that of his peers.  He noticed that the methods, philosophies, and approaches to what they were instructing parents to do was vastly different than what he grew up with.  John humbled himself and realized that maybe his grandma did know best.  He began to teach to the ways he knew had a proven track record for many past generations of parents and children.  He began to call on the authority of the parent and bring it back into the house.  Even though the word "authority" as a parent was becoming a bad word in the psychology world.  The more John did this the more he was seeing positive outcomes from his work compared to the negative outcomes from his colleagues. His colleagues were promoting a progressive postmodern approach to parenting that placed the child on equal authority ground as the parent.  The child knows what is best for themselves and we should allow them to live in such a way.  They promoted the ideas of relativism for truth and what is right or wrong.  They threw out anything that sounded old-fashioned or especially of the bible.  As we now clearly see, the experiment has blown up in our faces.  Today's parents are afraid of their own children.  They are afraid they will hurt them, offend them, or possibly even oppress them. They question their parenting decisions to the point that they simply ask the child what would be best for them.  The selfish child inside everyone of us never has any reason to develop and mature, because it is being enabled to stay a child.  We use terms like "entitled", "lazy", "narcissist",  and "immature" to describe many of the younger generations.  It is time for us to realize that we created and enabled this cancer in our culture.  The good news is this, we have the cure for this cancer.  The bad news is this, it is going to take a great deal of work on our parts as parents to right our wrongs.  John was so gracious in his words and encouragement to us in our work.  We hope you take his wisdom and begin to apply it to your own family.  Your kids will win, but even better, so will everyone else. John Rosemond - https://www.rosemond.comRock Solid Families - https://www.rocksolidfamilies.orgSupport the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=0Gu_CU51XtrK1z7cJxUO4BlOgzML2iPZFzYxn5WvnE-59-sq_NHQrti0JG6z2k84mOVEWm&country.x=US&locale.x=US)

Parenting as Coaching One familiar and consistent premise among coaches is the emphasis on fundamentals. Wooden took these principles to the next level. His team members could expect an entire lesson at the beginning of each season on how to put on socks. But why focus on socks? “Because in order to play the game, you have to start with a good foundation. Putting on your socks correctly is critical. Because if you don't, you get blisters. And if you get blisters it impacts everything else you do as a player. Ultimately, that impacts the whole team.” As Christian parents, have we gotten wrapped up in the game and neglected the fundamentals? It's time to get back to the basics. Politically Incorrect Parenting When we parent according to Scripture, we aren't always seen as normal in the eyes of the world. Sometimes we even see strange looks from other Christian parents! But answer this for me: Are your kids more emotionally well-adjusted than other children? Are they better behaved? Are they easier to handle? Keep this in mind when you see side glances or others begin to question why you choose a Scriptural foundation for your parenting decisions. It is certainly tempting to update our parenting style to match the culture around us. Maybe no one openly questions your Scripture-based parenting, but you may feel like a parenting primitive who is behind the times for choosing to raise your kids with a different set of restrictions and requirements. Many Christian parents around the world have raised their kids in Godless societies with no biblical standards and common sense for the last 2000 years. John Rosemond is an American columnist with a pa parenting column syndicated in over 225 newspapers across the country. Mr. Rosemond is also a public speaker and an author of parenting books such as, “Grandma Was Right After All.” John hosted the nationally syndicated show, “ Because I Said So,” an American Family radio up until 2018.
