SEASON 10 The Learning Leader Daily Leadership Tips and Discussions Today we continue the topic of discussion about how Team Leaders need to be consistent and have cohesion, but today I take it home and talk about the importance of parents being consistent.  Have you ever wondered why it's so difficult for a group of leaders to norm or be consistent? Well, it's because every leader is unique and has their own style and way of leading their team. By coming together and forming a bond in your organizations leadership team, you can begin norming better than ever before. I use the DISC assessment with every client and team I work with and have found it to be a real game-changer for the entire team. This is certainly no different when you have a group of leaders together. In order for them to work together in unison, they have to begin by knowing each other very well. That's where the DISC comes in, so I will mix the DISC behavioral styles in throughout this series. I am a DISC Certified Trainer and Consultant and have worked with behavioral styles for over 20 years. I am certified through the John Maxwell Leadership Team and have worked with hundreds of teams. If you are interested in having me work with your team leaders or if you want to purchase a DISC assessments for yourself and your team, please contact me via email at Paul@CLCTeam.com If you want to dive in deeper, here are some great books to read and study about the behavioral styles: “Surrounded by Idiots” by Thomas Erikson https://amzn.to/3yZ4Jwk “Full Spectrum Success: Living and Leading in True Color” by Jacob Adamo https://amzn.to/3Mcsnsd “The Four Tendencies” by Gretchen Rubin https://amzn.to/4ctegtq “Wired That Way” by Marita Littauer. https://amzn.to/3SNW8n4 “Personality PLUS” by Florence Littauer. https://amzn.to/3X05WNi Thank you for listening. I'm Paul Grau Jr., the host of this show, and I'm excited about Season 10. This season will focus on “The Learning Leader” and/or as we refer to it here at The CLC Team, “The Expanding Leader. Every episode will primarily focus on the lifelong journey of expanding your knowledge of leadership, and I will try to give you a daily takeaway to put what you learn into action. My goal is that you learn something that you can take immediate action on, and see how powerful expanding your leadership can be.   Please listen daily (Mon – Friday) as Paul focuses on not only giving tips about how to be a great leader, but also a leader who is respected, a leader who people want to follow, a leader who can confidently navigate their way through both personal and professional challenges, a leader who is not afraid to share their faith while living it out, a leader who knows his/her purpose and lives to fulfill that purpose every day, and a leader who has no regrets! As always, I value your feedback and comments, especially your perspectives and opinions. Please share them with me by emailing them to Paul@CLCTeam.com  Lots of new stuff to come... please consider subscribing, sharing with a friend, and giving me a review on whatever platform you listen on.  Have a great day and Lead Well! “Run To Your Challenges!”

Holly Swenson, BSN, RN, is a mother to four boys, wellness blogger, perpetual student of life, and the author of Stop, Drop, Grow, & Glow, a book steeped in conscious parenting and infused with joy, intention, and wellness. This conversation features Holly Swenson and Linda discussing important topics around self-care, wellness, and intentional parenting. Holly is an author who wrote the book "Stop, Drop, Row and Glow" about maintaining wellness as a busy mom. She shares techniques for moms to take care of themselves physically and mentally to feel fulfilled and radiant. Linda and Holly also explore a framework called the "Five Rights of Parenting," which provides a supportive approach for being fully present with children. Throughout, they offer advice on handling emotions, setting boundaries, allowing independence, and using reflection as a parenting tool. The discussion offers valuable insights for any parents seeking to care for themselves while raising well-adjusted kids. Questions I asked: How did you come up with the title of your book "Stop, Drop, Row and Glow"? What do you recommend for women who feel frumpy and have lost their self? What are some things you do yourself as a mom to make you feel like you start to glow? What would you say the five rights of parenting are? The blueprint for intentional parenting? How can we react with grace to knee jerk reactions when our child has done something that takes our breath away? What is your recommendation when a child between two and three is throwing a temper tantrum because they didn't get what they wanted? Don't you think kids are also testing their boundaries? What is your recommendation for reflecting, reframing, and rising? Where can people find you?   Topics Discussed: Self-care and wellness for busy moms Self-care techniques for moms to feel fulfilled and glow Parenting rights framework of the "Five Rights of Parenting" Parenting techniques for handling children's emotions and behaviors Setting boundaries while allowing independence for teenagers Importance of relaxing and taking a mellow approach to parenting Role of self-reflection and personal growth in parenting  Quotes from the show:  "Protein is going to take you so far." On today's show, in addition to reading the chapter, "Mother's Day - THANK YOU!" from his book, sharing wisdom from others, and a bit of humor, Paul played Part 2 of his interview with KA HANCOCK. KA HANCOCK, a highly successful author from Utah - and a former psychiatric nurse - will join us to discuss her books, including "Dancing On Broken Glass" and "The Duzy House of Mourning", as well as her upcoming release, "Ivy In Stills".  FROM HER WEBSITE: "Ka Hancock is the author of the beloved novel DANCING ON BROKEN GLASS and newly released THE DUZY HOUSE OF MOURNING. Always intrigued by the human experience and how people navigate their unique challenges, Hancock began writing stories as a child, and never stopped. She discovered early that humanity is a tangled mystery, and that to understand our fellow travelers, and to thrive in difficult relationships, it helps to acknowledge truth, and then proceed accordingly. To support her writing habit, she became a nurse and settled in the realm of addiction and psychiatric medicine. She finds people-in all their complex and varied lifeforms-completely fascinating.  She lives in Utah with her husband. Her four children, who have multiplied at an impressive rate, keep her happily engaged with a whole new generation. So, fun fact about me: I'm a messy writer and I like it that way. I'm super tidy everywhere else in my life, but my office is exactly how I like it. I don't like interruptions or noise, but I have a noisy hubs...who interrupts...a lot. Sigh. I love him. Fun fact number two: I was ten when I wrote my first story. It was about a 4th grade substitute teacher I had while my beloved Mrs. Peeler went off and had a baby. (How could she!) I shocked myself with the degree of bottled up dislike I had for this poor guy, but in all fairness I can still, lo these many moons later, recall his effect on me. I wrote a story about him wherein he ended up dead. Dead! I know! What was wrong with me? And it filled me with such consuming turmoil that my pure little conscience could not take it. I'm not kidding, I could not erase fast enough. When I recovered, I gave the old meany a full-body rash and no fingernails which was infinitely easier to live with (for me, not him). But, oh the power! I was utterly addicted. At ten, I held life (and tormenting skin conditions) on the end of my trusty #2 pencil. I never looked back. I was a writer. A little twisted, obviously, but a writer. Have you ever gone all in on something? Something that means the world to you, but not all that much to anyone else? It's a tricky place to be—that jumping off place into whatever-happens-it's-on-me. I've always found it much easier to hand responsibility to someone else, and blame them when it fails. At least where my books are concerned. That's my comfort zone. My job was writing. It was definitely not the mechanics of publishing, marketing, hustling, and selling myself. I've been quite happy to leave that to agents and editors and publishers and publicists and live my life as the semi-introvert that I imagine myself to be. And that worked out fine until my great agent left for an unturndownable opportunity, and my amazing editor abruptly left Simon & Schuster and Simon & Schuster didn't know what to do with me because I had no editor.  www.kahancock.com

Also included are excerpts and discussions of Paul's parenting book, "A PRINCIPAL'S FAMILY PRINCIPLES - Raising Your Kids to Be Happy and Healthy, While Enjoying Them to the Fullest". On today's show, in addition to reading the chapter, "Sibling Rivalry" from his book, sharing wisdom from others, and a bit of humor, Paul played Part 2 of his interview with DEBORAH HENNE. DEBORAH HENNE, a speech-language pathologist by day and an author by night, a wife, mother, and Jesus lover, from Pennsylvania, will join us to discuss her unique experience with the Lord at age 12; her newest release, "Gentleness: It's Not What You Think"; and her podcast show, "Sounds Like Freedom". FROM HER BIO: I'm almost always found typing away at my computer after tucking my kids in at night. But...I don't always write at my computer. Sometimes I can be found writing with an old-fashioned pen and paper at my keyboard. I have written prophetic songs, songs inspired by biblical revelation, and worship songs. I love how music unlocks our hearts and can transport us into the presence of God. I also love digging deeply into the Scripture, unearthing gems through word studies and putting the writings of the Bible into context. I also do tend to geek out a little on science. Many ask me how, since I am a woman of faith. My answer? Science helps us understand the natural world. Faith empowers us to live in the supernatural. Sometimes it helps to understand practical tools and steps as we take each step in our faith journey. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Sometimes, it can be both.  In my book, Gentleness: It's Not What You Think, I bare my soul to share my journey of conquering obstacles and challenges in life by pairing faith and evidence-based principles supported by science and the Bible. It is my prayer that my book inspires and encourages others to take practical steps to overcome in their lives too.  Life isn't about staying the same. It's not about being perfect either. It's about being "ever changed." I believe in using every tool available so we can live as overcomers and in freedom. There are tools that have been researched by scientists. There is also faith. Both have value. But in my experience, it is when we taste and experience the glory of God that we are truly transformed. It is my passion to allow God to work through me in order to connect people to His presence and glory so we can all be forever changed.  https://deborahhenne.com

Is it for your kids to have fun? Is it to train your kids to be respectful and well-adjusted?Nope...your job as a parent is to train up God-fearing, well adjusted, equipped adults!
