For this episode of Morbid Ash has a bit of a different tale for us. This is the case of Kelli Peters; a mom, the PTA president, and framed woman. The afternoon of February 17th 2010 started off so normal for Kelli. She pulled into the school she'd been volunteering at for years and started getting to work with the kids. Out of nowhere, Kelli's afternoon took a turn. She was called to the office where a police officer waited for her, and when she got there he wanted to know whether or not he could search her car. When he did he uncovered a ceramic pipe, 17 grams of pot, 11 percocet pills and 29 vicodin pills. But for the first time in probably the history of ever, the drugs really weren't Kelli's. Kelli Peters was a volunteer director for the after school program at Plaza Vista School in Irvine, California. Kelli had chosen Irvine for her family because it was so safe. One day while working at the school, a 911 call came in to the police station reporting a dangerous driver in the Plaza Vista parking lot. The caller identified the driver as Kelli. Upon further investigation, it turned out Kelli was already inside the school at the time of the call. When the cop called to the scene searched her car, he found a large bag of marijuana and smaller bags of assorted pills. Kelli, of course, denied the drugs were hers. Even though this is not an uncommon response when caught with drugs, the cop believed her. Kelli Peters was the heart of Plaza Vista School in Irvine, California. She was the PTA president and the volunteer director of the after school program. But then, one day, as she was filling in for a teacher, a police officer said he needed to speak with her. He took her out to the parking lot and asked for her car keys. Kelli was puzzled, but she handed them over. The officer dug through her car, and eventually pulled out a bag of pot, a pipe, some Percocet and some Vicodin. Kelli dropped to her knees. She sobbed. She pleaded with the officer. The drugs weren’t hers, she said. But if they weren’t hers, then why the hell were they in Kelli’s car?   Then Kristin talks about two things she knows inside and out: fine wine, and the perils of having millions of dollars in spending money. In the early 2000’s, Rudy Kurniawan was just a young, geeky-looking guy bidding on California wines at high-end wine auctions. Hardly anyone paid attention to him. But then his bids got bigger. And bigger. He spent millions on wine, and then began selling it. But over time, the people who bought his wines got suspicious. The wines didn’t taste quite right. And some of the labels looked a little funny. Had they been duped? And now for a note about our process.
