In today's episode, I'm joined by Kimberly Stuart, a multifaceted talent—writing coach, author of eight novels, and podcaster. Alongside New York Times-bestselling author Bob Goff, she has guided hundreds of aspiring authors through executive coaching, online courses, podcasts, and live events. Kimberly's expertise and passion for storytelling have made her a beacon for writers seeking inspiration and practical advice. In her new book, Star for Jesus (And Other Jobs I Quit): Rediscovering the Grace that Sets Us Free, Kimberly shares moments that encourage readers to embrace God's fierce love over lesser alternatives. Join us as we delve into the early days of her career, the nuances of writing fiction versus nonfiction, and her advice for aspiring authors. We also discuss the motivation needed for tough days, the failures she has faced, and the valuable lessons learned from them. Join Kimberly and I as we talk about: The early days of her career The differences between writing fiction vs. nonfiction Advice if you are thinking of writing a book Encouragement and motivation for the hard days Failures she has faced, what she has learned from them, and how she turned them around Favorite quotes: “Sometimes those little tiny dreams we haven't even put any oxygen on yet, those are the ones that we need someone else to say out loud.” (7:02 Audio) “It makes a difference in the narrative we are telling ourselves and reminding ourselves.” (16:22 Audio) “Failure can come when you are not looking for it.” (30:46 Audio) Coaching this week: Self Talk (43:25) In coaching for this episode, I teach about our inner voice. Sometimes, but I think more often than not, the voice in our head is mean and critical or just a downer. I want you to keep in mind that the relationship that you have with yourself is the most crucial one because that voice isn't going anywhere. If you wouldn't take that kind of talk from a friend, you don't want to take it from yourself. I'll also want you to flip it around. Would you ever talk to a friend that way? Would you talk to your best friend, your spouse, or your child in the way that you talk to yourself? Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! I'm so excited about today's episode. Today we're talking about why it's so important that we stop trying to be the “perfect” Christian. Tell me if any of this sounds familiar to you: You try to do all of the “right” things like pray and read your Bible, but sometimes it feels like you're checking boxes off a to-do list rather than experiencing real intimacy with God. Or maybe you feel like you need to do X,Y, & Z, you fill in the blanks, in order to be a “good Christian” or person of faith. Or, if you don't have your quiet time (or whatever the thing is you feel you're supposed to do), you feel like a bad Christian and that God must be disappointed in you. Does any of this resonate with you? If so, I want you to know you're not alone and we're going to work through this together. Our guest for today's episode is Kimberly Stuart. Kim is a writer, speaker and podcaster. Her most recent book is called, Star for Jesus (And Other Jobs I Quit): Rediscovering the Grace that Sets Us Free. In it, she's reminding us that our faith is not about trying to be good enough or doing all of the right things — instead, it's about accepting the free gift of God's grace. Kim is hilarious and warm and relatable and wise. I can't wait for you to meet her. One of my favorite quotes Kim says in the episode is this, “There is more than enough grace to cushion every single fall every single day.” Yes and amen to that! I hope this conversation reminds you how loved you are and that there's room for everyone at God's table! Okay, let's dive in! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Women today are a part of a pivotal generation. I mean, no pressure or anything. But we're seeing - and participating - in a generation pushing up against the tension of career and family without choosing one or the other. Both...we can have both. This is a generation of women choosing to dream and change course - even if it doesn't always makes sense. A generation of women raising women to know and believe that the opinions of others shouldn't always dictate her personal choices. This conversation with author, Kimberly Stuart, brought so much validation and let's be honest - empowerment - to the art of juggling career progression and motherhood. Her significant insights into pursuing professional dreams alongside personal commitments - chef's kiss. Kimberly takes a word that usually gives me hives - "patience" - and reconstructs it to be an asset rather than a punishment in pivotal seasons of life. We talk about dealing with other people's opinions, the need to nurture passions and the importance of engaging your whole family in your dreams and pursuits. And I'm also outed for my complete lack of understanding of general geographical information. It is what it is.
