Send us Fan MailTreatment Website:https://ambio.life/Documentary: https://www.inwavesandwarfilm.com/A lot of people talk about PTSD like it's only flashbacks and bad dreams. Bill describes something darker and quieter: sitting in church, worshiping, and still getting hit with suicidal ideation so loud it feels like a command. He's a professional counselor who works mostly with veterans, and he's also a pastor, which makes his story even harder to ignore. He knows the clinical language, the coping patterns, and the church expectations and he admits what it's like to keep it together at work while falling apart at home. The conversation turns when Bill sees a friend return from Mexico after a medically supervised psychedelic-assisted treatment for PTSD and substance use. That friend looks different: sober, steadier, and more alive. Bill takes us through the questions Christians ask about mind-altering substances, the scriptures he wrestles with, and why “controlled treatment” isn't the same thing as self-medicating. He also talks about spiritual preparation, prayer, and staying grounded in faith inside a space that often mixes New Age ceremony, breathwork, and alternative healing language. From screening, EKGs, and medication restrictions to sweat lodges, ibogaine, and 5-MeO-DMT, Bill breaks down what the process actually looks like and what it cost him emotionally. He shares the trauma that surfaced, the way control kept showing up as the real battle, and the moment he felt God push him to stop hiding who he is. On the other side, he reports concrete changes: no suicidal ideation, better sleep, fewer intrusive images, less anger, and a renewed daily routine that protects his marriage and his mind. If this story challenges you, share it with someone who needs hope, and check the links in the description for the resources we mention. Jim talks with recurring guest and deep systems thinker Jordan Hall about the scaffolding of his worldview. They discuss the waking-up scenario as a window into consciousness and personal identity, Jordan's phenomenology of waking and the "latent potential of all possible memory," the soul as the binding of finite and infinite, Jim's counter-framing of consciousness as a fusion of perception, interoception, and unconscious memory, the infinite as genuinely real, the Platonic triangle as a concrete example of transcendentals that have no particular location in the causal field, Forrest Landry's distinction between being and existence, knowing with confidence vs. knowing with certainty, Jordan's basic ontological commitment to realism, the incoherence of simulation theory, Jim's "Minimum Viable Metaphysics," the incoherence of unmediated access as the meaning of the word reality, Father Stephen DeYoung's critique of Western substantive essentialism, Bonitta Roy's idea that reality is shareable and participatory, Michael Levin's pragmatic epistemology, how purpose collapses reality to a tractable slice, "begottenness" in Christian metaphysics and the generativity of relationships, Jordan's onto-epistemology as the register before ontology and epistemology are distinguishable, Jordan's recent adoption of "smorthodox" Christianity, the phenomenology of waking as evidence that space-time is secondary, prioritizing meaningfulness over causation as a metaphysical commitment, Updike as "still alive" in the realization of his work, the Greek preoccupation with legacy and honor after death, Eric Weinstein's desire for Einsteinian legacy as a category error, love as the real currency of legacy, the Mark Twain reading as an example of a soul genuinely present in a room, Jim's father as an ongoing example of realization twenty-six years after his death, noticing a parent's turn of phrase in oneself, the sweetness of impermanence, the good vs. abusive father and different relationships to a parent's memory, values and virtues as real, the distinction between courage and bravery, culture as the progressive discovery and embodiment of virtue space, the crab-in-the-bucket problem, fallenness as local optimization, and much more. At times we become prone to offering canned spiritual advice/phrases to individuals dealing with crucial situations. The prophet Habakkuk provides for us a template of sorts to keep it real with God. He demonstrates that God provides a safe place/space for us to share our frustrations as we navigate difficult situations and await meaningful answers. At the time of the very end, there will come a great trial upon the world and at its core will be whether or not one believes in God and whether one

Send us a textSome stories don't fade; they get reclaimed. We sit down with Earl and Angie for a deeply honest journey through trauma, addiction, and the kind of recovery that stands up in the real world—courtrooms, crowded rooms, and late-night panic alike. Their message is simple and strong: addiction is an outward symptom of an inward wound, and freedom begins when you stop reacting, start responding, and let a real community walk with you.Angie shares how meth offered a counterfeit peace that silenced the noise of unspoken abuse—until a faith-based recovery program, therapy, and character work gave her a new voice and a sealed record. Earl opens up about coping with pain through alcohol and the moment he traded performance for peace. Together, they teach practical tools you can use today: breathing and grounding for anxiety, identifying triggers, replacing reaction with response, and changing the language you use about your life. We also explore why the opposite of addiction is community, why vulnerability beats isolation, and how boundaries can love people better than enabling ever could. For church leaders and volunteers, we get specific about what real help looks like: ask better questions, stock Narcan, set clear boundaries, create safe spaces, and build referral pathways to programs, housing, and jobs. For anyone in the fight, you'll hear a repeatable plan: ID your triggers, choose your response, change your environment, and keep showing up. We also talk legacy—how reclamation means recovering what past generations missed and passing on peace, not chaos, to the people coming after us.If you found value in this conversation, subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs hope today. Faith And Failures

What would happen if your faith was put on trial? Would there be enough evidence to convict you of truly loving God? This thought-provoking episode challenges believers to examine the authenticity of their relationship with Christ beyond mere words or social media declarations. We often focus on how much God loves us – rightfully emphasizing John 3:16 and the sacrifice of Christ – but rarely turn the question around to ask ourselves: do we genuinely love God? And if so, what tangible evidence exists in our daily lives that would prove this love?Jesus stated it plainly: "If you love me, obey my commandments." This simple yet profound statement reveals that love isn't measured by feelings or declarations but through obedience. Many believers today fill churches without demonstrating this love through transformed lives. They resist challenges to live differently, approaching faith as a spectator sport rather than a life-changing relationship. The podcast offers five practical ways to demonstrate authentic love for God: prioritizing Him daily, choosing Him over convenience, serving His people (even when you don't feel like it), living with an eternal focus, and staying faithful during difficult seasons. Anyone can praise God when life is good, but love is proven in the fire – when prayers seem unanswered and challenges persist.Whether you're struggling with complacency in your faith or seeking to deepen your relationship with God, this message will challenge you to move beyond casual Christianity and embrace a faith that transforms every aspect of your life. What parts of your life are you still holding back? What might God be asking you to surrender today?Support the show

Send us a textEvery second, hundreds of people around the world type “Is God real?” into search engines. In this episode, we're exploring this ultimate question with Lee Strobel, former atheist and legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, whose own journey to faith became the bestselling book “The Case for Christ.” Drawing from his latest work “Is God Real?”, Lee brings his investigative journalism background and legal mind to examine the evidence for God's existence. We'll explore how recent scientific discoveries point to a Creator, why suffering doesn't disprove God's existence, evidence that sets Christianity apart from other faiths, what makes the “hidden God” reveal Himself, and the practical implications of God's existence for our lives. Whether you're a skeptic seeking answers, a believer wrestling with doubt, or someone wanting to better articulate your faith, this conversation offers fresh insights into humanity's most profound question. Join us as we examine the evidence with one of Christianity's most respected investigators. Because as Lee discovered, the answer to “Is God real?” changes everything. Book: https://www.zondervan.com/p/is-god-real/
