Wait… you don't need glitter glue to be creative? Surprise! In this episode of Dancing in the Discomfort Zone, I chat with Dr. Amy Climer —facilitator, speaker, and author of Deliberate Creative Teams—who's on a mission to bust the myth that creativity is reserved for “artsy” people.Amy drops some serious (and seriously fun) wisdom about how to build team creativity on purpose—not just cross your fingers and hope for an idea to magically pop out during a chaotic Zoom call. She breaks down:
Words are not just for communication—they shape civilizations. They define truth, identity, and purpose. They are the load-bearing beams of a society’s moral structure. And when those words are redefined or removed, everything built on them begins to crumble. In this powerful and timely episode of Christian Parent/Crazy World, Catherine Segars welcomes back worldview expert Scott Allen for a riveting conversation about the biblical words that built Western civilization—and why our children’s future depends on preserving them. We’re not just losing vocabulary in today’s culture war—we’re losing the very ideas that gave us human dignity, justice, freedom, and purpose. Concepts like truth, freedom, and even human are being reimagined in ways that disconnect us from reality and rob our kids of the meaning they were created to know. Scott and Catherine take a deep dive into the word “human”—and what it meant when rooted in the biblical worldview. They unpack how the radical declaration in Genesis—that humans are made in the image of God—revolutionized the ancient world. In a culture where women were often viewed as property, and children or the disabled were disposable, Scripture declared that every single person has immeasurable worth. You’ll hear: How the biblical idea of humanity upended Greek, Roman, and pagan views of people as tools or cosmic accidents The chilling story of a modern Kenyan tribe that used the same word for “woman” and “tool” The consequences of raising children in a world that sees them as just evolved animals—or self-defining machines

Get Michelle's book here: https://a.co/d/9qreqPr One Idea To Rule Them All: Reverse Engineering American Propaganda" delves into the fascinating world of cognitive shortcuts that our brains employ to form beliefs, and how these can be manipulated in a technologically advanced society to subtly influence our perceptions. Rather than viewing propaganda as mere lies or distortions, the book explores the sophisticated techniques developed since the early 20th century that render such a simplistic view obsolete. It exposes the power wielded by 'Idea Bullies' who, armed with these techniques, vast wealth, and influential connections, dominate the marketplace of ideas, leading to a democracy ossified in orthodoxy. The book traces the historical evolution of this phenomenon, known variously as the manufacturing of consent, public relations, or simply 'propaganda'. It also illuminates how the art of stagecraft and narrative storytelling have supplanted the objective pursuit of truth, and why this manipulation of language is invariably the first harbinger of tyranny. Michelle Stiles discusses her excellent book "One Idea To Rule Them All: Reverse Engineering American Propaganda" where she describes how we are being "idea bullied" and that the elite have a near all-encompassing grip on information at all levels of society and governance. She goes through some of the key history and players which include Gustave Le Bon, Edward Bernays, and Walter Lippmann and discusses "Operation Sheepskin" and "Operation Spider's Web". There are a number of things we need to do to reverse course. She has previously authored two works: Fast Track Your Recovery from a Total Knee Replacement: How to Eliminate Pain and Pain Medicine the Quickest Way Possible and Color and Laugh Your Way to Knee Replacement Recovery. While the writing of One Idea to Rule Them All by a physical therapist may seem like a metaphysical oddity or quirk of the universe, it is simply the product of an active mind in the quest for truth. The barriers to accurate perception today are plentiful and well laid out in this book, which serves as a concise guide to unveiling the machinations of idea bullying so that they are easily recognizable by those of high school age and beyond; to those of both right and left persuasion-in short, to anyone who senses in their bones that something in the world is off-kilter and can't quite put their finger on the source. *Podcast intro music is from the song "The Queens Jig" by "Musicke & Mirth" from their album "Music for Two Lyra Viols": http://musicke-mirth.de/en/recordings.html (available on iTunes or Amazon)
Today, Paul talks about how mainstream investing philosophies push all investors into fear around money. It all revolves around the idea that your effort and knowledge of markets can give you a competitive edge and lead to better outcomes. This belief leads to constantly tracking news and markets and never truly being able to relax about money. Listen along as Paul shares why this method doesn't work and how it's even made its way into schools, financial institutions, and news organizations. Later in the episode, Paul shares why success and returns can actually harm investors and make it harder for them to get out of risky situations. Hey guys! In this episode of The Self Development Collective, I'm diving into something I haven't talked about in ages - goal setting. But here's the thing: I'm approaching it totally differently than I used to. I've been watching heaps of YouTube content lately (you know I've been loving Molly Mae!), and with the start of the year, there's been so much stuff about productivity and goal setting. And it got me thinking - why have I been avoiding setting proper goals for so long? This episode came from a really honest place of reflection. You know those moments when you look back at old journals and realize how much has changed? That's exactly what sparked this conversation. I dive deep into my journey with goal setting - from being someone who had pages and pages of goals and productivity systems, to completely avoiding them, to finally finding a way that actually works for me. In this episode, I open up about my own experiences and share some really personal stories that completely transformed how I think about creating the life we want. I explore why traditional goal-setting methods weren't working for me, and share a powerful realization about vision boards that might surprise you. This episode is perfect for you if: You've ever felt overwhelmed by traditional goal setting You're tired of chasing goals that don't feel meaningful You want to approach your dreams in a way that actually feels good You're looking for a more authentic way to create the life you want You're ready to think about goal setting in a completely different way This is actually part one of a series where I'll be breaking down a completely different approach to goal setting - one that's changed everything for me. I share some really vulnerable moments and practical insights that I hope will help shift your perspective too. I can't wait to hear what resonates with you from this episode. In April of 2023, Episode #11, we first chatted with Economist and Author Jeff Korzenik. His book, Untapped Talent, had been recently released, and we were excited to hear about how a well-known, National U.S. Economist, became involved in the fair chance hiring movement. Since then, Jeff has been crisscrossing the U.S. making a case for hiring justice-impacted individuals, one speaking engagement at a time. From well-known business schools such as MIT and Wharton to large-scale organizations such as Goodwill, Jeff brings factual and concerning information about the current state of the labor shortage. He also shares the compelling stories of employers and employees who have succeeded in the fair chance hiring model. As Jeff says, ‘the structural labor shortage is an “all hands on deck” problem with no single solution', and as such, he will continue to spread the fair chance hiring message to overcome the workforce issues plaguing U.S. employers.

There is so much that God wants to reveal to you, but we are kept from knowing them in depth because we are blocking ourselves in various ways. If you haven't signed up for my email list, you'll want to do that so you can have access to even further insights that I don't share here. Hey friends, today is an episode that is all about the Holy Ghost as the being who will help you live into the truth of who you really are. Christ said it best when he said “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26) No matter what you are going through, the secret to getting out of the hardship and challenges of life and living into the promised land that is already prepared for you is to REMEMBER. Since the Holy Ghost's job is to help you remember all things then it's vital that you understand how to fully utilize this 3rd member of the Godhead. For those of you who struggle to receive insights from the Holy Ghost, here is a free course I created called "The Ultimate Course For How To Listen And Honor The Spirit". You can get FREE access by CLICKING HERE. And then if you still struggle with living into the truth of who you really are and achieving all that you want to achieve, then check out The Inherent Identity Family Right now you could get the chance for 1:1 coaching with me, which is rare. Now would be the time to join if you are thinking about it or have been on edge.

Milfred and Hands highlight last week's discussion at the Edgewater Hotel about the future of State Street. Prominent landscape architect Ed Freer and Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway offer their visions as the city plans to test the concept of a true pedestrian mall on the bottom half of State Street this summer. Buses no longer roll down and crowd the three blocks closest to the UW-Madison campus. So the possibilities are ripe for a grand promenade and urban park similar to Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. Milfred and Hands play clips from and react to the Edgewater forum, including Freer's playful suggestion for yoga in the middle of the street.

I did something this weekend that I haven't done in a long time - I worked on the weekend. And a 3-day weekend at that. And while it may not be a popular opinion (and something I don't typically advocate for), I did it anyways... and it felt really good.My typical work week is to finish strong Friday afternoon, and then log off completely for the weekend.(Don't get me wrong - I work in sales, so if a deal needs to get done, you bet I'm logging in to do what needs to be done and finish the job)That being said, I have always been a huge proponent of shutting off work for the weekend, completely disconnecting, and using the weekends to reset and live life. That's also not to say I go on full shut down mode - I have plenty of passion projects that my weekends consist of:Writing the newsletterRunning the podcastTraining for eventsTraveling, AdventuringHanging with friends & familyThe list goes on.But, one month into a new job, there's a lot going on.Nothing I can't handle, but a lot nonetheless.(Also making sure to give myself some grace given it's only been 5 weeks so far)There's just a lot to do. And everything feels like a priority. Can you relate? Have you started a new job? New project? New life chapter of some sort, and you just feel like there's a never ending list of things you could and should be doing?Well let me tell you. I worked for a couple hours, and it felt SO good.I worked on Friday's project that wasn't quite finished.I prospected.Crafted emails.Built templates.Rolled out sequences.Scheduled sends for Tuesday morning. All the things that are 100% priorities, but hard to prioritize over everything that's been going on during the week (immediate RGA's, learning, prepping, building process, customer meetings, advancing deals, etc.)Bringing it back to you (and I say this with caution):If you're feeling slightly overwhelmed, or feel like there's still "so much to do" when the weekend rolls around, don't be afraid to pop the laptop open and knock out a couple action items.I'm tellin ya - I jammed out a couple hours with no time limits, no deadlines, no stress - and it felt so good. And my weekend was that much better.Feel free to share any thoughts, ideas, strategies y'all have around this topic. Would love to learn about what works / doesn't work for you. If you enjoyed this episode, can you please: 1. Leave a 5-star rating and review? 2. Look at your habits. I'm talking about your morning routines, what you do at the end of a busy day, what choices you make throughout the day, etc...How many of these habits do you believe can be matched with the adventure and call that God has placed in your heart?Today, I want to share more with you about the "One Idea Rule." It has given me so many AHA moments about what tasks fulfill me in life and what tasks drain me. The Lakers took one on the chin in Philadelphia on Monday, suffering one of the worst losses in team history, and the worst in LeBron's storied career. (44 points!)It was enough to have James talking about "a lot" needing to change going forward. What that means? Hard to say. Was he talking about mechanics on the court? Team culture? Coaching strategies? Just saying that literally when you lose by 44, by definition a lot has to change? The Lakers, though, have a golden opportunity to reset the narrative tonight against a terrible Detroit team, and Monday's result makes this game crucial for two reasons: With a game Thursday in OKC, the Lakers need this game to guarantee a .500 trip, and not lose the solid impact of Saturday's excellent effort in Cleveland. One really good way to amplify the concerns about deeper issues inside the team? Lose to a Pistons squad that hasn't won since before Halloween. We're not at panic territory yet. Or even close, really. But you don't want to edge anywhere near it, particularly when it comes to things that generate drama. Because lose tonight, lose tomorrow? You come home with a serious vibes problem, and folks are VERY sensitive to vibes right now.So what was LeBron asking to change? He didn't say... but we have some suggestions. One really big one?Shoot more. Move faster. Not on the break (though that would be nice) but in the half court, because the Lakers literally take the fewest amount of shots in the NBA on a nightly basis. That's not sustainable, especially when they're neither a high volume attempt or a high volume make team from 3.HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: The Lakers have a critical game against Detroit tonight.SEGMENT 2: What's the difference between "what's flawed" and "what's wrong?"SEGMENT 3: Go faster, Lakers! In this interview, Michelle Stiles reviews some of the basic tools of propaganda, featured in her book, “One Idea to Rule Them All: Reverse Engineering American Propaganda.” It's a pertinent and apt topic in light of what's been going on over the last few years, as we attempt to understand how we've been manipulated and brainwashed.
With new outrages erupting every day, I find some comfort in knowing that We the People have at least eliminated certain particularly-ugly plutocratic abuses. Child labor, for example – outlawed in 1938, right?
