Are you ready to take back control of your emotions and the thoughts that keep you up all night, feeling stuck in anxiety or worry or fear or shame? ( just to name a few uncomfortable emotions) Let's talk about they psychology behind your brain and why you think and feel the way you do. I often refer to my coaching as thought work, but it is so much more than that. It is feeling work too. It is "work" because it takes time to rewire your brain and the habitual way you think and feel. No matter if you have left your religion, a relationship or you are working on body image and/or everything in between, the tool I teach in this episode will help you as you continue your healing. Thought work is the beginning of getting curious about all of your swirling thoughts. I will couple this with feeling our feelings in another episode, but this week, let's talk more about your brain and how you can add thought work to your healing journey. amyloganlife.com

If you do not see the literal soundtrack your brain plays for you everyday, how will you know what to change or even how to improve? We are not looking for perfection, that is not a thing, but we can make huge changes in our life if we start paying attention to the ticker tape of thoughts you have swirling around in your head. Those thoughts are 100% affecting your day to day life.  The thoughts in your head are laying the ground work to your emotional health. amyloganlife.com

Episode 130! Often when we are waking up to the truth of who we are, there is a community or family situation that we have to courageously stand up to. Changes may occur as a result of choosing our own paths, our own intuition and soul-searching. Many women experience this when leaving a religious community, and my two guests today will share their stories of Sacred Remembrance as it applies to leaving religion. What these phenomenal women really brought to my heart and attention through this conversation is the strong desire we have as humans to belong - to be loved in community. Sometimes we stay in places too long, because we don't want to lose community. Sometimes we do lose one community when we choose to become more of ourselves, because of the judgement or simply the misalignment that now exists. There is a great importance in forming community where you can truly, truly belong while you are a modern woman, waking up to the truth of who you are. That is what WE are building. Please join guests Erin Payne & Audrey Maddox, two people I care a tremendous amount for, as we weave and traverse a fully alchemical conversation about Women, the Sacred, the Holy Mother, recovering from religion, and more. Women are rising and looking for evidence that the feminine has a place with God. Women have a lot of healing to do from the impression of a dominant, masculine God for so long. The feminine is rising, and where is it going to happen? Through women on their journeys of Sacred Remembering. And in Sacred Remembering, we are remembering UNITY, and healing separation. There is no threat to women remembering the feminine essence of God, and then incorporating it into our relationship with the Sacred. In fact, this is leadership. Listen to this incredible, authentic, & alchemical episode for how we think about this and for a glimpse into what is happening in the Sacred Remembering Community. This Jesus divides families, friends, communities, and nations. This Jesus is the means to an end. This Jesus is all about money, power and control. This Jesus subjugates women, tells widows it's their fault, and ignores the cry of orphans. Everywhere one looks, this Jesus hurts, afflicts, and kills those we love. It is this Jesus I hate. What I can't understand is why anyone loves this Jesus? Like a clown on a parade route, he throws a few candies towards those who worship him, promising them that a huge pile of candy awaits them when they die. He lets his followers hunger, thirst, and die, yet he tells them it is for their good, that he loves them and has a wonderful plan for their life. This Jesus is all talk, promising the moon and delivering a piece of gravel. Why can't his followers see this? Fear me, he tells his followers. I have the keys to life and death. I have the power to make you happy and I have the power to destroy your life. I have the power to take your children, health, and livelihood. I can do these things because I am the biggest, baddest Jesus ever. Fear me and oppress women, immigrants, orphans, homosexuals, and atheists. Refuse my demand and I will rain my judgment down upon your head. But, know that I love you and only want is best for you and yours. It is this Jesus I hate. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

My guest today is Cyndi Markey who used to be a Jehovah's Witness. Did you know that Jahova's witnesses' cannot celebrate birthdays? They cannot socialize with people outside of their church family unless it's for work or school. Cyndi shares with me about how growing up women and children were to be seen and not heard. In High School Cyndi was able to take a class that was not an approved class from the church. She loved her teacher and he taught her critical thinking skills. She later received a scholarship but couldn't accept it as higher education was frowned upon. At 18 years old she met a guy that she loved and as nature would have it, they had sex. Cyndi was given a public reproof in front the of the church for her sin and if you were not shown to be sorry enough, you would be ex-communicated from the church. She had been told that if she disassociated herself before she was dis-fellowshiped that it would be better for her as she could still be with her family. She learned quickly that this was not the case, in fact this was much worse. Cyndi moved to Tennessee and her family followed her, she was stalked by her family and members of her church as they were trying to save her soul.  She moved from Tennessee to Arizona and then to Chicago to live with her grandmother. In Chicago she tried to establish some sort of normalcy. To her normalcy looked like establishing routines, getting a car, a job, getting friends and having a sense of community. As Cyndi tried to unpack the previous years of her life it was painful and she attempted to take her life at 21 years old. She later married a man, divorced and then had a few other marriages. She asked herself, "Why can't I find the keys to happiness?" This question propelled her into finding her healing. Cyndi breaks down finding happiness and yourself in 4 steps:1. Know Yourself2. Trust3. Teach4. Love SelfYour heart knows, Cyndi shares. Build your own resilience. Did you know there are more neurons in the heart than there are in your brain? Cyndi is now a heart math practitioner and shares some fascinating information about the power of the heart. "8.) Justification for inequality. A simple and honest study of our world's theocracies (and countries such as America where those issues are being debated) reveals how our holy texts are used to discriminate against women, LGBTs, and foreigners. Our top three world religions' texts are full of discrimination against these groups. In fact, it is openly used as justification for that discrimination. Religion facilitates erroneous rationalization of the attempts to remove basic rights from others. It prevents people from living in peace as a community and within their own lives. It forces entire groups of people to work tirelessly to create and preserve rights that should be available to them already. Many of our religions treat women as subhuman property rather than the part of the human species that gives life to every one of us – a position that deserves respect. Many of our world's countries have so drastically restricted the rights of women that they are not allowed to attend school to earn an education, drive a car, be seen in public without a male family member, hold a career, or even speak their own thoughts. In each instance where this gender based bigotry is enforced, it is always attached to a religiously based belief system. Religion also treats the LGBT community with disdain, even to the point where some countries prescribe death as a punishment for not following that religion's definition of what sex should look like. This is also how religion is destroying humanity. The problem with this is that homosexuality can be found in many species, not just amongst humanity. Anyone who has done their research knows this. Unfortunately, religion has not caught up to this reality. Although homosexuality has existed for millennia, religion still persists in fighting what comes natural to much of nature. Is it a god that gave us permission to interrogate and murder people based on sexual orientation, or is it the people who wrote our religious texts and simply did not understand or agree with that part of nature? Sadly, our religious texts have been used to discriminate against a vast assortment of people, including, tribes, minorities and foreigners. People outside of a religion's belief structure or cultural background have been tortured, enslaved and stripped of their human rights – all in the name of a god and the religion that god represents. This is also the reason for how religion is destroying humanity. Religion gives followers justification for treating others who are not like them in inhumane ways. It enables our world to perpetuate the cycles of hatred towards others and justify our efforts in restricting the happiness of our fellow human beings." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

Beliefs - For those that have experienced leaving your religion, you know the ups and downs and the loneliness that can be felt as you navigate through the transition. Today's episode is a beautiful conversation with Rebekah Peterson where she opened up about her recent transition out of the LDS faith, aka Mormons. Rebekah was a devoted member her entire life, doing all of the so called "right" things in her faith. She and her husband were married in the temple and raised 6 beautiful children in the faith, as well as served in many church leadership positions. Rebekah is quite candid about the affect that serving in these positions had on her family. Her family sacrificed a lot of time and emotions, but she stayed committed. Over two years ago, she stumbled across some comments on Facebook from East Idaho News about a church article and the questioning and research began. With that said, this episode is not about what led to the faith transition, this episode is about a beautiful message of hope. Rebekah wants the listener to know that thriving is possible for you as you make your faith transition. There is hope for you and even if it takes some time (possibly years) to feel at peace, that you're okay and you're not alone. Her relationship with her husband and children are more open and honest, her family meditates together, and she guides them to deal with life, without the foundation of the church. She reminds us that there are many resources online and there are communities that offer support as you transition. I also loved her advice to Get Out!! She meant get out and met people that are not like you. Become friends with people who look and believe different things from you. Embrace diversity and teach your children about diversity. Rebekah and her family lived in Japan and she loved providing that opportunity for her children. We also talked about how it isn't possible to leave and leave it alone because this transition can be very painful as it affects your foundation. But again, happiness and joy are possible so keep going!! Rebekah's parting words, "Show them how happy you are."

According to Daniel Clark, we are sometimes gifted with an invitation “to see beyond the limits of our own religious ideologies and beliefs—to see God, the world and people like we've never seen them before.” And that is what we are going to be doing this week as we peer over the edge of the cliff of the end of 2010 into 2011. Dan's very popular book “Life After Religion” is subtitled “Freedom from Beliefs that Cripple the Mind and Kill the Spirit.” He tells us that we have an inner guidance system, something he calls a “God given GPS navigating system,” which we need to learn how to turn on. Dan grew up in an abusive environment but one that was also steeped in religion. Eventually, through his own existential crisis, he found his greater meaning beyond religion. This is a tough topic, but we are going to dare it today. We are going to be asking some of life's most profound questions, to enhance the outset of your New Year with some answers all your own. Don't miss it.
