EP 012: Exploring the Open Throat Center Human Design

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 8, 2021 12:40

Welcome to our series on the Centers in Human Design. These mini episodes will be focused on discussing the affect an open center might have on our life experiences. This episode is about the Throat Center, led by Stefanie, our Generator.  Head on over to Jovian Archive to download your free Human Design profile and follow along with us over the next few episodes as we explore all of the Centers in Human Design. The Throat center governs speech, actions, any means of communication. Those with open centers tend to blurt out things, may be accidental interrupters, or over-communicators.  This is not coming from a space of ego, but more from a pressure to be heard. One of the benefits to having this open Throat center is that, without even realizing we're doing it, we're able to adjust our tone and delivery to match the needs of our audience. To work with our open throat, we deserve to practice patience and focus on communicating according to our strategy (ie: Generators strategy is to respond). Also, it's so valuable for those with this center open to trust and lean into the silence and trust that others don't need to hear you, but they will read your aura and see you for who you are. Some great questions to ask yourself if you notice the pressure to move:Is this conversation important for me to engage in?Am I feeling pressure to be heard in this moment?Am I rehearsing a conversation in my head? If so, is the conversation necessary to be had with others or is it my pressure to be heard? What's my strategy and authority?.........................................................What is Human Design Delight? We are bringing you a collaboration with women from each of the design types. Prepare yourself to receive episodes about life, relationships, business, Human Design and Gene Keys, and personal empowerment. Not every episode will be about human design; however, every episode we will show up in our designs because there's no getting around it. We believe there are many valuable tools that assist us in accepting and loving ourselves, and Human Design is one of them. We also are passionate about each of us living authentically and sharing our unique gifts with the world.  We're not 100% sure where this journey will take us, but we are 100% confident that we will show up weekly transparently and authentically, with conversations that matter to you. Welcome to our series on the Centers in Human Design. These mini episodes will be focused on discussing the affect an open center might have on our life experiences. We'll kick off the series exploring the Root Center led by Kristina, our Manifestor.  Head on over to Jovian Archive to download your free Human Design profile and follow along with us over the next few episodes as we explore all of the Centers in Human Design. The Root center is a pressure center and motor center. When your center is defined (colored in), you will always have a list of things to get done, whether that list is written or in your head. If your Root center is open, you may feel the pressure to get things done. This can show up in driving, eating, and work. Since it's a pressure center, when it's open it will amplify the energies of those around you.  Learn to pace yourself and always check in with your strategy and authority of your design. Kristina shared some great questions to ask yourself if you notice the pressure to move:Is this pressure mine?Is this a problem I need to solve? What's my strategy and authority.........................................................What is Human Design Delight? We are super excited to be sharing this mini series with you! We'll start with a general discussion around the 9 centers in Human Design and then we'll move into mini episodes talking about the pressures you may be feeling if you have a specific center defined. Grab your chart at Jovian Archive and see what centers are defined (colored in) or open (white). Follow along with the conversation! We believe that understanding your open centers can be super valuable because they show you areas where you may be activated by others. It is giving you awareness of potential areas where you could be picking up other people's beliefs and thoughts. This awareness allows you to check in with yourself and see if what you are feeling is yours or someone else's.   Again, we talk about the importance of trusting your authority and strategy first and foremost. Understanding your centers can be the next step for your deeper understanding of your design.  It is our vision of this podcast to bring awareness and understanding about ourselves and create more authentic, synchronistic relationships in your life and open up communication with others. We're super excited about today's episode where we explore children and Human Design. This episode is great for parents, educators, or anyone who influence children in their daily life! Join us as we explore our perfect Human Design classroom simulator where all children are guided to listen to their inner guidance system. We share how you can identify the different types within a classroom setting and what supports each type. Our biggest advice is to take time to listen to the kids, they will tell us what they need through words or actions. Imagine a world where not every child is treated the same and we encourage their unique gifts to shine, giving them permission to be themselves! Here are a few simple thoughts to support the different types. Manifestors: Freedom to bounce from station to station. They have energy for the sprint but will burn out if not given the opportunity to rest. Generators: If they are doing what they love, they are designed for a marathon. Ask them yes/no questions and encourage them to push through plateaus. Projectors: Invite them in to share their experience and what is going on with the group. Projectors also need rest, you may find them sitting reading a book during recess rather than running around with the other kids.Reflectors: Rare - around 1% of population. They are chameleons and can fit along with multiple groups. They may volunteer to run errands to get out of the classroom if the energy doesn't feel right. What is Human Design Delight? What a year we have all experienced! Our team wanted to take some time to discuss the pandemic and how we each experienced the massive amount of changes that 2020 brought to all of us. We are calling this episode the year of self discovery and self regulation because as we talked, we all came to the consensus of the importance of feeling all of the emotions as well as learning ways to process the emotions. We were all forced into a virtual world which also allowed us to get intimate with ourselves. Social distancing and closures literally put us 6 feet from each other, outside of aura bubble and we were forced to really feel into our own emotions. Here are some key take-aways from our discussion:Sitting with discomfort allows us to get comfortable with ourselves. We were all forced to connect with ourselves and observe and be curious of our emotions. Socary shared beautiful advice around self-inquiry and regulating our own emotions. We learned to see things in different perspectives and respond from regulated emotions rather than reactive emotions. The year taught us to be present and in the moments and let go of expectations.Transparency with her children was huge for Stefanie and the choices that her family made during the year. Lots of new experiences and a lot of time spent together doing what mattered. We also experienced grief and loss. We admitted that each of us tend to focus on the positive but we realize that in sharing our stories and sharing all of the emotions, we realize that we aren't alone. Watching others thrive in the pandemic when you're not can be hurtful and maybe you have taken it personal like you're doing something wrong. But there is nothing wrong with you. Kristina shared that processing isn't always positive and we all agreed that there were dark nights for each of us this year and it is important to experience all of the things so that we can come out more balanced. There are ways to shift your mindset and make your life become what you want it to be. Finally, we offered some advice at the end of the conversation that we hope provides some light and ways for processing all of the emotions. What is Human Design Delight? We bring it all together around the 15:00 minute mark (thank to our HD newbie, Janice). The common theme is having awareness is key. Human Design is simply a tool to give yourself permission to accept and love yourself. Be aware and live our lives with so much less stress and triggers. Key takeaways from the episode:Prince charming is the Manifestor, Cinderella is the Projector. He proclaimed he was heading out to find love and she waited for the perfect invitation. Love and the Types:Manifestor - Initiate in the relationship. They desire freedom in the relationship. Projector - Wait for the invitation, don't be the "chaser"Generator - Checking in with sacral and wait to respond. Ask them yes/no questions. Reflector - You will triggers people, showing them all sides of themselves. Societal programming. Poor Projector men that are taught to initiate and Manifestor woman are taught to be chased when they should be the one initiating. What is Human Design Delight? Trigger warning - this episode discusses child sex abuse and addiction. Relationships - Today's episode with my guest Cleo Cheney, is about raw honesty, vulnerability and acceptance. He desires to share his story of abuse and addiction so that others can see that they are loveable and worthy of love. After years of numbing and blocking it all out, he feels it is cathartic to open up about his experiences in hopes that it touches someone. Love is what got him through it all, but it wasn't always an easy road to travel. Cleo shares his journey of running away at 14 and being sexually abused as a runaway and how turning to drugs and alcohol allowed him to cope with his experiences and numb from all feelings and emotions. He spent years in and out of trouble, ultimately landing him in prison. What he realized through all of his experiences, is that he was never able to love himself and those that stuck by him didn't have to, but they did. It was through these relationships, that he was able to see how he was worthy of love, but it needed to start with him loving himself first. Cleo reminds us that we need full transparency in our relationships. We cannot hide from the past as we are not being honest with ourselves and others. He encourages us to accept things as they are and forgive ourselves. "You don't have to be perfect. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, just be willing to face them. Love is free, anybody can give it away; it shouldn't come with expectations."

Lara opened up about her story of transition from staying at home raising children to creating a business where she gets to work from home, enjoying adventures with her young family and with her clients. After a couple years of motherhood, Lara had a "mean mom" moment and realized that she had lost herself. She was giving everything to her babies but in the process, she was losing parts of herself that were part of her. She was unhappy with herself and she realized she was taking it on her kids. The very next day she began researching how to get better. This research led her to an amazing therapist, who was also a mom of young children, who reminded her that it is possible to be a mother and pursue your dreams. Start identifying what that nudge is trying to tell you.Pick up the "phone." Meaning simply take a moment to answer the calling of your inner purpose. Beliefs - For those that have experienced leaving your religion, you know the ups and downs and the loneliness that can be felt as you navigate through the transition. Today's episode is a beautiful conversation with Rebekah Peterson where she opened up about her recent transition out of the LDS faith, aka Mormons. Rebekah was a devoted member her entire life, doing all of the so called "right" things in her faith. She and her husband were married in the temple and raised 6 beautiful children in the faith, as well as served in many church leadership positions. Rebekah is quite candid about the affect that serving in these positions had on her family. Her family sacrificed a lot of time and emotions, but she stayed committed. Over two years ago, she stumbled across some comments on Facebook from East Idaho News about a church article and the questioning and research began. With that said, this episode is not about what led to the faith transition, this episode is about a beautiful message of hope. Rebekah wants the listener to know that thriving is possible for you as you make your faith transition. There is hope for you and even if it takes some time (possibly years) to feel at peace, that you're okay and you're not alone. Her relationship with her husband and children are more open and honest, her family meditates together, and she guides them to deal with life, without the foundation of the church. She reminds us that there are many resources online and there are communities that offer support as you transition. I also loved her advice to Get Out!! She meant get out and met people that are not like you. Become friends with people who look and believe different things from you. Embrace diversity and teach your children about diversity. Rebekah and her family lived in Japan and she loved providing that opportunity for her children. We also talked about how it isn't possible to leave and leave it alone because this transition can be very painful as it affects your foundation. But again, happiness and joy are possible so keep going!! Rebekah's parting words, "Show them how happy you are."

Today's episode of Connecting it Together with Stefanie is about looking within ourselves before pointing the finger on how they should be doing something. There isn't a right or wrong way. It can be so easy to look at others and say you wouldn't be doing what they're doing, but how do you know that until you are put in that situation. Even then, is it truly possible to understand someone's actions until you are able to 100% live in their experiences? I don't believe any of us can truly say yes to this question. The theme of there isn't a right or wrong way came out in all of the past three episodes. Let's recap the episodes: Seeking perfection caused anxiety and self-tyranny. Steve, Episode 26 Was there a right way for Steve to experience these moments?Layers and layers of healing through sexual trauma. Celeste, Episode 27 It's easy to look at Celeste now and think she has it all together, but the healing took years and years of peeling the layers. Find what works for you being a mother with Sara, Episode 28 Is there a right way to be a mother? Is it wrong to take needed time for yourself?I invite you to take time for self reflection. What comes up for you when I say "There isn't a right and wrong way?" Work through the layers of this statement and the beliefs that you have around it. Reflect on your own journey in life. What paths did you go down that others thought were wrong, and yet, you learned so much from? What paths did you go down that you thought were "so right," only to find out that it wasn't what you thought. Yet, there were lessons you learned. You can find the video I referenced in the podcast HERE. "I quickly realized that it could have been me....I don't understand how anyone can do that. It took me one week to realize, I could have done that." I invite you to listen to his whole conversation.

Relationships - Hey moms, we're talking to you today. Today's episode is an incredible conversation with my IRL best friend, Sara Howarth. We have been friends for 19 years and have seen so many transitions between the two of us, motherhood being one of them. Sara opens up about her experience of losing herself when she received the mom role to finding herself again, while still be a great mom! I know so many of you can relate to this as there is an unspoken perception of how you could/should be a mother. She shared about her experience of attempting to cocoon her newborn child so that nothing would ever happen to her to understanding her anxiety around being a mom and learning ways to maneuver through it while finding her bubbly, fun-loving self again (and this world is glad she's back!) Motherhood can be shitty, amazing, and everything in between and this raw conversation touches on all of that. What I loved about Sara's story is that it's HER STORY; she was able to find her again; and yet, she understands and honors every mother's journey. You do you, my fellow mama! If you are a mom that is hurting silently inside because you don't know who you are or have lost pieces of you, take Sara's advice to find a way to do it (find you) and trust the process little by little, working on it every day." You matter and you are an amazing mother because of who you are. You and your children deserve to see all of the beautiful parts of you!

Relationships - Today's episode with the lovely, Celeste Anderson had me laughing, crying and blushing during our time together. Celeste shares her journey of healing and thriving from years of sexual trauma and discusses about the the many phases of healing as she worked through her own experiences. This isn't always an easy topic to discuss but is one that deserves to have some light on it. We are all at choice on each of us individually get to decide what is right for each of us. Does it feel right to you? I love Celeste's openness and rawness as we talked about sexuality and exploring the sacral energy we each hold. We are the masters of our own body and we deserve to explore and embrace the sexual beings that we are. A little bit about Celeste: "Life Coach, Spiritual Advisor, Intuitive, Medium…. These are all words you hear thrown around all the time in the last few years, but in reality, what do they mean? Just like everything in life they are all relative. All these terms resonate differently with each person that speaks them and with each person that uses them as a title. My name is Celeste Anderson. I may fall into most of those categories above to a lot of people, but I prefer to consider myself a teacher. A teacher of tools to help you become your own life coach, spiritual advisor, intuitive and even a medium (if you choose to open yourself to those skills). I believe I have been put here to help raise the vibration and open people’s hearts to a different kind of thinking. Probably the longest, most significant journey of growth and healing for me, was from the years of conditioning placed on me around sexuality. After working through layers and layers surrounding my childhood sexual abuse, I have found a beautiful, loving, spiritual connection to sexuality and I am honored every time I have the opportunity to guide someone else on their own journey of healing and freedom.Society has made sexuality an evil, dark thing. We have been made to feel ashamed about our bodies, thoughts and natural desires. When in contrast, our sexuality is an amazing gift of self love and empowerment. If you struggle with issues around sexuality, body shaming, or maybe just love of self, you are not alone. if you connect to my story or feel a pull to explore your own sexuality deeper, please feel free to reach out. I am here to guide you back to your true self!"Celeste is happy to connect with all of you at Crystalline Tribe where she has posted all of her events and services or on her Facebook Page, Mothering Healing. Steve is so open and raw about his journey and truly accepts others for where they are in their personal journey. Steve felt that through his search for perfection and continuously striving to do more more more, he began to feel depressed. Rather than allowing himself grace, he strived to once again do more until the more was simply too much. When he stepped into a place of being rather than doing, his life transformed. Steve shares his passion of meditation and daily connection within and it is through sharing his transitional journey, he hopes others can see that they are not alone in their own struggles. Steve reminds us that we all learn through our experiences and we can choose based on my own beliefs and intuition. Steve stated, "I don't want to arrive because I am always learning and growing."The transitional journey out of religion is not always smooth, but for Steve, it was time for his own evolution. It was through his own questioning and reflection that he made the choice to leave. It is my hope that his message inspires you to take daily moments of going within and reflecting on who you are. I personally am so grateful for Dawn's outlook on life and her carefree optimism when it comes to life situations and relationships. Each of us heal differently.Thank others for what they trigger inside of you as they help you grow.We are all doing the best we can. Each relationship is a unique experience.Forgiveness is a beautiful gift we can give ourselves and others and you don't always have to pull others into your forgiveness. She is passionate about sharing emotional literacy and how important it is to recognize our emotions as indicators and not dictators for our life. Another huge take-away was about how it is common to fit our relationships into a comfort box. We tend to struggle when one person inside the box begins growing outside of the comfort and how easy it is to desire to pull them back into the comfortable box. Yet, as we choose to see the lessons in our relationships as areas for growth within ourselves, we can see how we can grow out of that comfortable box together. Tera Brown is an Intuitive Life Coach, Betrayal Trauma Specialist, and Speaker. She woke up from a lifelong pattern she wasn’t even aware of: avoiding, numbing, and denying her emotions, when, after 16 years of marriage, her husband disclosed his infidelity and addiction struggles. Personal growth work and recovery started that very day.Tera now runs spouse support groups, teaches online courses, and residential retreats on betrayal trauma recovery and emotional literacy, and she has spoken at numerous conferences. Her passion is to give hope, change lives, and find ways to help people take back their personal power by building personal safety and emotional sobriety.
