POPULARITY
A listener shared a story with me that's just too powerful not to share with you. A man named George Thomas was a pastor in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning, he got up to speak and he set a rusty, bent-up, old bird cage next to the pulpit. You could tell by people's faces that the pastor had some explaining to do. He said, "Well, I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming toward me, swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little birds who were shivering with cold and fear. So I asked the boy, "What you got there?" He said, "Just some old birds." The pastor then asked, "What are you going to do with them?" The boy said, "Well, I'm gonna tease 'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. Then I'm gonna have a real good time." The pastor pointed out that the boy would soon get tired of those birds and he said, "What are you going to do with them then?" "Oh, I've got some cats," the boy said. "They like birds." What happened next is what puts you and me into this picture. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "The Battle In Your Soul." The pastor had a question for the boy who had nothing but hurtful plans for those little birds. "How much do you want for them, son?" The boy couldn't believe it. These were just plain old field birds who weren't very pretty and they couldn't sing. When the pastor pressed his question, the boy finally answered, "Uh, ten dollars?" The pastor reached into his pocket and pulled out a $10 bill, and the boy took his money and ran off. The pastor picked up the cage, he gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a grassy spot. He opened the cage door, softly tapped the bars to persuade the birds to come out, and you know what happened. He set them free. Now the folks at church understood at this point why there was an empty cage on the pulpit. Then the pastor began to tell a story of a conversation between Jesus and Satan, who had just come from his victory with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The devil was boasting, "Yes, sir, I just caught me a world full of people down there. I set me a trap and they fell for the bait. Got 'em all!" Jesus asked him, "What are you going to do with them?" "I'm gonna have some fun with them," Satan replied. "I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hurt and hate each other, and how to get hooked on habits that will destroy them. I'm going to teach them to deceive each other, abuse each other, and even kill each other." When Jesus asked what he would do when he was done with them, Satan said, "Oh, I'll kill them." "How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked. The devil said, "You don't want them. They'll just spit on you. They'll just curse you. They'll kill you!" Jesus asked again, "How much?" Satan sneered, "All your tears and all your blood!" "Done!" Jesus said, and then He paid the price. Now our word for today from the Word of God in John 10:10, "The thief (that's Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." This very day the life-taker, the devil himself, is trying to hold onto you. He wants to keep you away from Jesus until your last heartbeat, and then you'll be his forever. But the Life-Giver, Jesus Christ, is fighting for your soul this very moment where you are. He paid the price for your sin on the cross. And now you are in the middle of a tug-of-war on which your eternity depends, Satan trying to keep you on his path to kill you, and Jesus inviting you to give yourself to Him so He can give you life. They won't decide whether you go to heaven or hell though - you will. You want to belong to this Jesus? I mean, nobody has ever loved you like He does. No one has the power to walk out of his grave and give eternal life but Him. Go to our website, please. Many people have gone there and found there the assurance that they belong to Jesus Christ from that day on. It's ANewStory.com. For 2,000 years, Jesus has been unlocking that cage door of sin and letting its captives go free. He's waiting to do that for you this very day, this Good Friday.

Jesus perfectly represented the Father's heart and gave rest to the weary and made dead hearts come alive to God.
Mark 9March 16th, 2025Movement is the active ingredient of a victorious faith. Victorious Faith isn't optimism or positive thinking. Victorious Faith is gritty forward movement plowing through doubt and anxiousness. Q: Is it possible for the follower of Christ to carry both doubt and faith? A: Not only is it possible, it's probable.Q: Can doubt and victorious faith coexist long term?A: No, they are not compatible, one will eventually win out.The overarching purpose of this series is to displace your doubt and raise your faith in the power of God in Christ. “What you believe about God is the most important thing about you.” Pastor/Author A.W. Tozer (Drop in pic of AW Tozer)If you believe God is absent – you will live a self-limited life.If you believe God is angry – you will avoid interaction with the Life Giver. If you believe God to be loving – you will want to be in His presence. If you believe God is powerful – you will live without fear with a forward faith.Christus Victor Defined“An element of the atoning work of Christ that emphasizes the triumph of Christ over the evil powers of the world, through which he rescues his people and establishes a new relationship between God and the world.” Gospel ProjectAt-One-MentMotive: The Love of God in Christ. John 3:16,17 (NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. At-One-MentObjective: The victorious power of Christ which came to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8b “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.” The impact of Christus Victor is that we are freed to live in the love of Christ and under the powerful covering of Christ. Mark 9 teaches us… Spiritual power isn't self-contained it is Christ connected. Christ's presence brings hope.Doubt and faith coexist but they are not compatible.Doubt is overcome by movement. Movement engages the victorious power of Christ. Mark 9:14-29 (NIV) 14 When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him. 16 “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked. 17 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.” 19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.” 20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. 21 Jesus asked the boy's father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” 23 “‘If you can'?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” 25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” 26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He's dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. 28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn't we drive it out?” 29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”In order to live in the victory of Jesus, you have to walk with the Victorious Christ. We aren't given a personal reservoir of power. We are given personal access to God through Christ. He's the power, we are the conduit to that power. Fresh Power comes out of Fresh Relationship.“I believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” I got him here, didn't I? But this has been hard for a long time, help me overcome the doubt and despair that has taken up residence in my heart! The man's doubt wasn't rooted in a mistrust of Jesus – He came to Jesus. His doubt was sourced by the complexity of the problem and his own limitations. Q: Is it possible for the follower of Christ to carry both doubt and faith? A: Not only is it possible, it's probable.Explanation: Carrying both is a natural response to the hardship of life. In many cases, we have more experience with the hardship than we do with the victorious power of Christ. Doubt isn't a salvation issue, it is a growth issue. Everybody has to grow their faith through their doubt.Q: Can doubt and victorious faith coexist long term?A: No, they are not compatible, one will eventually win out.Explanation: Doubt freezes and plants fear. Faith moves and breeds confidence. Movement is the active ingredient to victorious faith. You build faith strength and resolve one win at a time. I am not sure we will ever be able to discard all self-doubt but what I am confident of is that we can get to the place where self-doubt doesn't dominate faith in Christ. The first faith move God is looking for is prayer. Prayer is an admission of weakness and an acknowledgment of God's power. Prayer is an invitation into a problem that far exceeds my ability to change the outcome. Prayer is a transitional movement from doubt to faith in Christ's victorious power!26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He's dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. 28 This is resurrection language! Resurrections are the best thing Jesus does. Mark 9 RecapSpiritual power isn't self-contained it is Christ connected. Christ's presence brings hope.Doubt and faith do coexist but they are not compatible.Doubt is overcome by movement and movement engages the victorious power of Christ. Hebrews 11:6 (AMP) 6 But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him. That is a movement passage. To doubt is human. To trust is divine. You can plow through self-doubt with Christ confidence. Doubt keeps you stuck. Christ confidence keeps you moving forward.
There are many cultural wars we are fighting today, and at the heart of this battle is the sanctity of life, Pastor Jack Graham teaches in his message titled Life Giver. The womb ought to be the most sacred and the safest place on earth, and Christians should not relent in the fight for the voiceless, he teaches. Jesus had been delayed in getting to Jairus' daughter by the woman with the issue of blood. But now while He yet spoke, messengers came to Jairus telling him to not trouble the Master, for your daughter is dead. But Jesus told Jairus, "Be not afraid, only believe."

Now I don't see a lot of movies but that old groundhog one with Bill Murray, I can tell you, it's really funny. You probably know the plot if you've seen it. He's this not very nice TV weatherman who goes to Punxsutawney, PA to broadcast that American tradition that comes from there. We're supposed to be able to predict whether or not there will be six more weeks of winter weather based on whether or not the groundhog sees his shadow on February 2nd. Anyway, the weatherman, who has a serious attitude problem, wakes up at 6:00 a.m. the next day, only to experience exactly the same events he did the day before. And every new morning, the clock radio goes off at 6:00 a.m. and awakens him to the same old song, "I Got You, Babe" by Sonny and Cher. And day after day, he sees the same people; he experiences the same relationships, the same places, the same rhythm - even down to the guy in the diner dropping a plate the same time each day. It becomes very frustrating - experiencing the same day over and over again. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to have A Word With You today about "When Every Day's the Same." The plot of the movie obviously is fantasy. The plight of having the same day over and over again is reality for a lot of people. In some ways, it might describe how your life feels right now. Life has taken on this monotonous sameness - a predictability. It seems like no matter what happens, or who happens, you have the feeling of "been there, done that." Maybe your life seems to be suffering from a meaning deficit. Actually, life was never meant to be monotonous. After all, your life was given to you by a God who creates blazing sunsets and fall colors, people with fingerprints that are like no one else who has ever been born, galaxies, comets and supernovas. Now would a Creator with that kind of creativity create us to have days that all seem the same? The only reason life would be like that is if we are, in reality, trying to live without our Creator. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, steps into our hunger for something more meaningful and more colorful when He gives us our word for today from the Word of God in John 10:10. Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Now obviously, Jesus isn't talking about life in the sense of eating, breathing, and existing. We already have that kind of life. He's talking about life that's fulfilling, challenging, and satisfying - life to the full. We don't have life like that because we don't have the Life-Giver. According to God's Book, the Bible, you and I have, in fact, taken our life out of our Creator's hands and put it in our own. In the Bible that's called sin. In God's words we are, "without hope and without God" (Ephesians 2:12). It all seems so empty. Everyone seems as trapped in meaninglessness as you do. There seems to be no hope. Until you let Jesus Christ reconnect you to the God you have sinned against. Jesus died on that cross to pay for the sin that separates you from God. And when you put your trust in Him to take down the wall between you and God, He starts to infuse your days with a sense of meaning and destiny which you were created for. Each day you're discovering a little more of who you were born to be. While your environment may be pretty much the same every day, your INvironment - what's in you - is experiencing ever new experiences of God's love, God's joy, God making a difference in your life, God making a difference through your life. Maybe you've never begun this relationship that is what you were made for. In the Bible's words, you were "created by Him and for Him" but you've not really had Him in the leadership of your life. He loved you enough to die for you. You can trust Him. He'll change things you can't change because He was powerful enough to walk out of His grave and He's ready to walk into your life on your invitation. You say, 'Jesus, beginning today I am Yours. I trade the life I've been running for the life You died to give me right now." If you want to do that, we would love to be there for you. If you go to our website I can help you know you belong to Him. It's ANewStory.com. Your life was never meant to be this small. There is something so much bigger - days where you are finally experiencing the One you were created by, and the One you were created for.

In week 7 of our summer series, Just Jesus, Pastor Jamie brings a life-giving message about the Life Giver. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the LIFE". He also declared, "I am the Resurrection and LIFE." His words give LIFE, and as we fix our gaze on Him and listen to His voice it is evident, He gives LIFE!
It's What We Do: Why Worship MattersThe Stakes are high. Why?Because worship is what God is all about. Worship should matter to you because it matters to God.Because worship is what God is all about. Worship doesn't begin with us, it begins and ends with God.God is the center of everything that exists. He is above all the little gods of earth. He alone is the Creator. Sustainer. Originator. Life Giver. Beauty Maker. God's Word affirms that God dwells in endless praise. They were created to give God glory and praise! What's really crazy? This God, who has never known any shortage of worship, wants to be worshiped by you. God doesn't need any more worship to be worthy. Why?God knows who He is. God knows what He's worth. God knows the best thing He can give us is Himself. God is not an egotist seeking more than He deserves from us. He is God, choosing, in worship, to reward us with Himself. Don't waste your worship.Worship should matter to you because you are and always will be a worshiper. We are created to worship, therefore we need to make sure the thing we declare to be of greatest value is really worthy in the long run.You only have one life, and it's imperative that you find an object worthy of your affection, worship. Guard your worship.... and evaluate all potential takers. Enjoying the things that God has made is not a sin, but when we elevate any of these to the highest place in our hearts, we've gone too far and cheated both God and ourselves. Every day there is a battle for your worship. Satan having been in God's presence knows God is central and worthy of all praise. Satan, because of pride, he couldn't bow, and now leads a band of fallen angels spreading his mutiny to as many as he can.How does Satan advance his rebellion against God today? “to exchange the truth of God for a lie” to serve the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Paul at the Areopagus“Areopagus” after Ares, the Greek god of war. Where did God choose for Paul to give his address on the real meaning of life?In the very arena where opinions battled, and war was waged daily to shape the philosophical foundation of man's existence. Satan, the very fallen angel who challenged God, will challenge what God is saying to you. “I didn't start this war of worship, and I don't care to be in it. I just want to live my life, make my own choices, and do my own thing.” This is not an option. The reason why this is not an option is because our very lives are on loan from God, a sacred trust of opportunities and decisions. We bear the very likeness of the Worthy One, every one of our choices is made on a battlefield with heavenly ramifications. Jesus faced the same battle.Jesus' wilderness challenge: 40 days and nights Your worship matters to God.Important: Whatever you worship, you imitate. Whatever you imitate, you become. Why be careful what you choose to worship?Whatever you worship, you become.Whatever you worship, you become obsessed with.Whatever you value most, will ultimately determine who you are.

Many of us are taught growing up to take things in life. In service to the one, we must turn that around. Let us all become givers of our lives.
After a beautiful weekend of 24 Hour Prayer Chris recaps a few highlights and brings us through Acts 2:16-2.
At the start of this new series, we take a look back at the creation story in Genesis. Fundamental to God's nature is that he is giving. From the beginning, God has been giving life and those of us who have received this life must give it too.

God is a giver. In this first week of our Big Give teaching series, we look at God's first gift—life itself. What kind of life has God given us? What response is required of us?
Do you hold the men in your intimate life to a higher standard then you do the men in your family? How can a woman destroy a man's life? Does today's toxic society make the ungodly woman which is the product of it, the most attractive woman in this society? “Is the man in your life responsible for undoing what was done to you by the men in your family?” 1. Have you ever experienced a relationship with a woman that progressively made your life worse? 2. How do you define a "great woman" and what qualities do you believe she should possess? 3. In what ways can a misaligned woman negatively impact a man's life? 4. Do you believe that a woman's behavior can determine whether she is a destroyer or a life giver in a relationship? 5. How do societal influences contribute to the attractiveness of ungodly women in today's toxic society? 6. Do you hold the men in your life to a higher standard than the men in your own family? 7. Can you provide examples of how a toxic woman can destroy a man's life in three simple steps? 8. Have you ever experienced the idolize, devalue, and discard stages in a relationship with a toxic woman? 9. How did you feel during the idolize stage when the toxic woman made you feel like everything you ever wanted? 10. What were some signs that the toxic woman was entering the devalue stage in your relationship? 11. How did the toxic woman make you feel during the devalue stage? Did she blame you for everything?

Sunday, October 1, 2023 – Pastor Leland Hart gives today’s message, and it’s titled, “Jesus Makes the Difference.” We spend a lot of our time trying to improve our situation in life, and that’s not bad as long as we don’t end up leaving Jesus out of the equation. Pastor Leland gives us three attributes of how Jesus makes the difference because, in Jesus, we have power, healing, and life. Power to change the things we can’t change on our own. Healing in all aspects of our life that are beyond what doctors and medicine can touch. Life when all else screams death. Worship and study with us.
