Party Favorz is dropping a pair of fresh Disco House and Chill Out sets to close out the summer season before picking up again in the fall. Disco Yeah represents the finest Disco House tunes of the moment that are bound to sizzle your gizzle with deep-fried juicy beats. Michael Gray kicks off this set with "Take Me Back" (as in Studio 54) with Ian Ossia doing the remix honors. This song is also remixed by 84bit and frankly both remixes are outstanding so it was nothing more than a preference for inclusion. [youtube v="xjp5TifcuoI"] Salsoul Records had commissioned the very talented Dr. Packer to remix several classic tracks from their vast collection and here we get not one but two Loleatta Holloway classics that have been updated for today's new disco scene, while remaining true to the originals. "Runaway" and "Hit and Run" are two of the finest from her repertoire as he's already remixed "Love Sensation." The big one we're still waiting for is "Dreaming," but hopefully soon. Gangs Of Naples & Raffaele Ciavolino sample Loleatta's foray into 80's Dance with "Crash Goes Love" on their "What I Want" — an often overlooked classic loaded with one-liners that have been frequently lifted. Speaking of classics, Angelo Ferreri takes a deep dive into the Joe T. Vannelli and Eartha Kitt dance floor smash "Where Is My Man" and DJ Aiblo delivers a faithful rework of Kool & the Gang's "Too Hot." There's no doubt that Billy Porter has had a massive resurgence the past couple of years and he returns with the UK's Shapeshifters on the glorious House track "Finally Ready." Overall, Disco Yeah raises the temperature with a solid mix of styles that blend together to create a seamless end of summer pool party (even if for only one). We'll be back on Saturday with the final Chill Out session to close the summer out. Until then...ENJOY! Album: Disco Yeah! Party Favorz is back with some deep peak hour music for those who start their party later in the evening. Red Alert features the hottest Tech House tracks at the moment with some funky surprises thrown in to mix things up and tingle your spine. Claptone & Mylo's "Drop the Pressure" kicks things off and sets the mood for subsequent tracks before all hell breaks loose. This track is currently sitting at the top of most DJ sets but it's the lesser known songs that are the real winners here. The Cube Guys have recently re-entered the scene after years of success in the commercial and underground space of the electronic music scene in the early millennium. Actually, they never went away but they're definitely making their presence felt these days. The joined up with Bando and re-grooved Dee-Lite's early 90's smash "Groove Is In the Heart" turning it into a deep Tech House track that would fill any dancefloor if we had any. Norman Cook a.k.a. Fatboy Slim is another master class producer and his infectious "All the Ladies" hits that deep groove spot and holds steady before we launch into another Cube Guys remix of the 90's alternative House classic "Red Alert" by Basement Jaxx. Johan S delivers the funky Tech House stomper "Smoke This" and Salt N Pepa's 80's classic "Push It" get's another rework by Safety First!, which is one of two versions currently out for 2020. "Push It" is just one of those songs that delivers in any environment and it would be really difficult to NOT make it a crowd pleaser. Trance megastars Above & Beyond take a stark turn and resurrect New Order's 80's alternative dance classic "Blue Monday" turning it into a massive roof-raising monster with it's signature synth. The always diverse Lucas Debonaire delivers a funky mashup that samples Michael Jackson's famous hook in "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" and mashes it with the 80's M|A|R|R|S Acid House classic "Pump Up the Volume" and creates an all new booty shaker that's bound to please. Another track blowing up at the moment is the Riva Starr remix of the 2009 Dennis Ferrer low-key House classic "Hey Hey." Here, Riva Starr drops in a familiar Giorgio Moroder groove, bumps up the BPM by 5 and flips this track 360 degrees. Buzz Low's "Thong Song" is a track I just can't get sick of no matter how many times I listen to it. It's definitely a crowd-pleaser with an infectious hook. If things weren't the way they are at the moment, Spinnin Records would have a smash on their hands. Roger M's "Discosizer" lifts the 80's Miguel Brown Hi NRG classic "So Many Men, So Little Time" and mashes it with our favorite DIVA Loleatta Holloway. In fact, there's another Loleatta sample buried in this set as well. I've said it before and keep saying it, this woman's back catalog is likely the most sampled in modern era House Music — full stop! As usual, I could go on and on but I'll let this set speak for itself. COMING SOON After the flubbed incident with Podbean erroneously cancelling my account and subsequently all the subscriptions, it's been one issue after another, while I was trying to make some cosmetic changes to the website. I've gotten through all that but it has put me behind schedule. I already have the cover art and track list compiled for the Spring Edition 2020, so expect that to finally drop by mid-week. I had several new Diva Hall of Fame entries scheduled but decided to drop the one I was saving for last by this coming weekend. My goal is to uplift everyone with things I know you want even if you don't know it yet. I'll follow-up with the other new diva entries, which are small potatoes in comparison the following week before diverting your attention again. I hope everyone is staying safe but still manages to have a fabulous weekend. Until the next time...ENJOY!

As usual, the inspiration for many of these tracks comes from the past eras of disco all the way up to house music and everything in between. Originally, I did this set in one sitting and created my edits and mashups on the fly. I had a few more worthy entrants that came in after it was set and dry and added a couple to the final set. Because of the way I structured this set, it's designed to move fast and keep listeners engaged. There aren't many long drawn-out passages and when there are, they aren't really that long. You'll also notice that Loleatta Holloway — once again — is at center stage on three of these tracks with two samplings of her #1 disco hit "Love Sensation" from 1980 — the most sampled song in the history of house music. Both deliver a blistering floor-scorcher but with a different approach. Nevertheless, HEY MR. DJ, Loleatta has an extensive catalog with a ton of adlibs and worthy material ripe for sampling. Why not get off the "Love Sensation" bandwagon and try being original for once? It'll separate you from the pack. Don't be lazy. I'll start compiling for the next Dance-Club and Circuit-Tribal-House sets dropping sometime this month. I've been on such a whirlwind of releases that I may take a one-week break depending on how far I get into the next set. Compiling is always the biggest challenge and definitely takes the longest. Svensk hiphop.

Loleatta Holloway was born November 5th 1946 and died March 21, 2011 . The day of the anniversary of her passing this March of 2016, I was reminded of her influence on me and particularly the dancefloor over the past 3-4 decades. After some digging, I've compiled and mixed a 1hr 20min mix that represents what Loleatta's music has meant to me. My hope with this tribute to her was to help those who really don't know her influence on House, Pop and Dance Music culture fall in love with her. For those already in the know, I wanted to remind you why you fell in love with her music in the first place. Have a listen. From there, it continues to pick up steam until BAM! You hit a brick wall the moment you run into SAY YES by Two Kings feat. the Queen. This shit is like the Staple Sisters went to house heaven and sprinkled disco dust on all the believers down below. No strangers to the scene, Two Kings consist of the legendary Jamie Lewis, who frankly needs no introduction and Fabulous Keys another veteran stalwart that you may be more familiar with the folks he's worked with (Chaka Khan, Sheila E., James Brown) than the actual man himself. Throw into this mix Swiss made soul singer TANJA DANKNER and you got yourself a recipe that even Julia Child couldn't have concocted. Those that know me also know that besides being a dedicated house-head, I am a HUGE 70s soul, disco, and funk fan and my encyclopedic brain's endorphins go into overdrive when I hear something as sweet and funky as SHELTER. Trust. This leads me to the 70s disco classic SPANK by Ron Louis Smith. Originally performed by Jimmy “Bo” Horne back in the day, Ron actually wrote the song and brings it back to us with his vocals in what can only be described as PURE FUNK. Jay takes this monologue and wraps it around pure house bliss adding another gold star to his burgeoning catalog. The House Sessions wouldn't be true to itself if I didn't include two re-worked 90s house classics. So, I worked in Ruffneck and Yavahn's EVERYBODY BE SOMEBODY and the Nightcrawlers PUSH THE FEELING ON, which have been updated for today's floors. Now, folks, I don't care how you bend it, stretch it or tweak it, cause you ain't NEVER gonna break it. These songs are as good now as when they were originally being served up back in the day. Another goto song at the moment is the super deep and funky GO ALL NIGHT by Gorgan City and the always fabulous Jennifer Hudson. This song IS THE SHIT and one of two Jennifer has out at the moment. Watch out of the fabulous Freemason's mix of this song as well. Clearly getting a big push by Gorgan City's label, I fully expect even bigger things for this song. I wanted to close the set out with Kiesza's latest NO ENEMIES, but the full-length remixes aren't scheduled for release until November 24th so we'll just have to settle for the MASSIVE Jax Jones rework of Duke Dumont's WON'T LOOK BACK. I know, I know violins, please. It's like, okay twist my arm, I'll drop it in (as if I needed any coercion) LOL. That's what I got going on for your weekend.
Dominant. Revered. RESPECTED. When you talk about Loleatta Holloway, these are some of the adjectives used when people discuss her legacy. Never duplicated but often imitated and ad nauseum. Considered the Queen of Salsoul in the mid-70s and early 80s, Loleatta has had more DJs sample her music than any other artist in modern history. Well known for her ad-lib prowess during recording sessions, Miss Holloway would get on a roll during the drop and just keep going and going. It was fitting that Gold Mine (a subsidiary of Salsoul Records) included the full eleven-minute version of Hit and Run on her third album, where at the end you hear the producer say “okay, now let's do the album version.” By themselves, Love Sensation and Dreaming are classic songs permanently etched into the annals of disco history. Picked apart, these songs have provided some of the most memorable recreations of entirely new dance floor mayhem from the 90s through today. Love Sensation has gone on to be the most sampled song in the last 30 years, further proving it's singular importance to the genre which propelled it to the top of the charts. In 1991, producer Dan Hartman (Relight My Fire; Love Sensation) and Loleatta sued UK act Black Box for using her vocals without permission on their worldwide hit Ride On Time. They ultimately settled for an undisclosed amount and Loleatta was given full credit on subsequent pressings of the album. Despite considering herself a ballad singer (Cry To Me; Worn Out Broken Heart) there is no doubt the important role Miss Holloway played in the disco genre, which ultimately bled into 90s house music. For a thorough recount of Loleatta Holloway, avoid the rather lame Wikipedia entry about her life and jump on over to the excellent obituary from the UK's Independent. Borrowing from the saying “there is more than one way to skin a cat,” there is no doubt Miss Holloway will continue to pop-up in deliciously new dance floor incarnations from time to time. This is a true testament to her Diva stature. Miss Holloway, we honor your memory. This is the re-boot edition of the original Diva Series honoring Loleatta Holloway I created in 2010 and reissued in 2011 after her death. Apparently, some guy from France on house-mixes.com shamelessly stole my original mix and claimed it as his own dedicating it to her life and memory. Given the issues surrounding her lawsuit with Black Box, I found humor in the analogous nature between the two. Let us pause to pay homage to one of the great disco vocalists of all time. With the recent passing of Loleatta Holloway, dance music has lost another brave voice to father time. In this mix, Ben takes Ellis D's unauthorized pressing of Loleatta's epic spoken word riff from Better Days, one of NYC's finest disco venues from the late 70's, and lays it over a 112 minute mixtape that combines some classic house jams with new cuts from the crates. The spirit remains.
Welcome to Friday's edition of Pride. As promised, I'm serving up a heaping platter of happy house music. Unlike the Original and the BPM, there's not quite as much “happy” music that comes out early in the year. After all, it's still snowing and bitterly cold in most parts of the world, so I guess it's hard for producers to get into that frame of mind early on. Frankly, if they did, they'd save a lot of people from cabin fever. We could just sit underneath a fluorescent light, soaking in the rays, while listening to something that reminds us of what's to come later in the year, summer. Nevertheless, I've extracted the best of the disco, funky and camp from my previous T-Dance sets and bulked up the remainder with brand-spanking new tunes that'll make you glad you held out for the fun, sun, and beaches. I'm talking celebratory, hands in the air, makes you feel so good early Sunday morning dance music! Kicking things off, I pulled out one of my favorite songs of the year. Hot on the heels of last year's “Runaway,” which sat in Juno's funky house Top Fifty for over ten months since it's release last summer, DJ Kid Stretch pulls another favorite out of his arsenal with “Give U More.” This song is packed with so many samples, that it's hard for me to keep up; and honey, I am the queen of samples. The one you will recognize is the undeniable big voice of Loleatta hollering in the background. I've got two, count them two brand new Peyton singles. The first is a collaboration with Eric Kupper called “Celebrate.” Just in time for Pride, Peyton is talking about celebrating his life. As out and proud as we are this season, we should be singing right along with him. The other is a new song in collaboration with the UK hottie, Wayne G. I gave everyone a taste of “Ur the Best Thing” on Gay Days v1 and now here comes the original version, in it's full blown soulful glory. For all those that have been searching for the one true love and found it, this one's for you. If you haven't found that special someone just yet, don't fret, I'm fairly certain they'll wash up on a beach for you to take home, after a long night of partying. I've also sneaked in our girl Kimberley Locke who was recently featured in the G-Spot, with her brand new discolicious single “Strobelight.” Speaking of disco, how about three classic remakes? First off is the 1979 classic “You Know How to Love Me,” originally performed by Phyllis Hyman (may she rest in peace). As part of the Fierce Angel group, Soraya Vivian does the vocal duties and boy oh boy, does she hit this one out of the park! In fact, I fell so in love with her take, I added her again on part two of this Pride Edition and for now, that treat will remain a surprise. Let's just say she has quickly become a contender and is right up there with Katherine Ellis as the next Party Favorz girl. Once you hear her voice, you too will become a believer! Next up is the totally unexpected remake of the Anita Ward classic “Ring My Bell.” When I got the promos, I clicked the play button with hesitation. How could anyone possibly top this monster classic from 1979? One listen and I was blown away! FAMA pours everything into this song and completely breathes new life into something that I would have never in a million years thought to touch. I absolutely love, LOVE the DeepCitySoul Mix, but wait there's more! The remix package also includes amazing renditions by Richard Earnshaw and Richie Jones. Unfortunately, the label is holding out on those, because they only included the radio edits. I fully expect a second release containing the full-length version of those two later next month; hopefully in time for Beach House. Finally, in the disco realm, Eric Kupper and Cathi O deliver “Haven't You Heard.” With its familiar catchy refrain, this song had immediate gravitational pull. The only problem was that I couldn't figure out who originally sang this song. In fact,
