Party Favorz is back with the third installment of the Ultimate Tony Moran Legacy series. As we get deeper into these sets, Moran's brilliance as remixer/producer really begins to shine even brighter. Whether the remixes were for his own collaborations for his own "Event" compilations or for other artists, Moran has racked up  a record  #1 songs (some on the Dance Club charts and others on various other charts including the Hot 100). As he became known for his live performances, the name Tony Moran became synonymous with marquee shows that have packed audiences across the globe, while paving the way for others like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Skrillex and Avicii who transferred their skills from the recording booth to live stadiums. It's been a busy week here in the Party Favorz household with one drama after the other leading up to a suicidal Betta affecitonately known as Karl who jumped 5 feet out of his tank while I was preparing to change his water. He later passed after he couldn't handle the stress. It's a wonder I got as much done as I did. Shortly after this post, there will be a 4th and final volume of this Legacy set, which will be followed up tomorrow with another by a different artist and then the final volume of the Thank God It's Disco series next week. If anyone is keeping track, it's also about time for the annual X-mas Dance series to drop, which you can look for on Black Friday. Expect something different this year. That's all I got for today but expect the 4th volume of this series to drop in short order today. Until the next time...ENJOY! As we move into the millennium, Tony Moran's light continued to get even brighter. He remixed some of the most iconic songs and DIVAS of the 21st century that his discography reads like a who's who list in the Party Favorz Diva Hall of Fame. No need to drop names because they're all here. Instead of breaking up his work for the past two decades, I went ahead and combined them giving fans a taste of old and new all rolled into the last 22 years of his career — a career that's still going strong today. I need to comb through the next installment of Thank God It's Disco but otherwise, that set is already in the can and should drop Saturday. Next week, I plan on shaking the release schedule up with some releases that are a bit unexpected before dropping the final two installments of these back to back series the week after. I've been slammed at home with a ton of projects and will be spending the day in Atlanta just as a major storm is coming into town (oh joy). Regardless, I managed to stay on top of everything so for now it's full steam ahead. Until the next time...ENJOY! I want to thank Joe S. and Ludovic D. for their generous donations and apologize to Joe for not giving a shoutout sooner. Anthony "Tony" Moran is a DJ, record producer, remixer, singer and songwriter known for remixing popular songs. In 2007, he hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart twice with "Walk Away" featuring Kristine W and "Keep Your Body Working" featuring Martha Wash. Moran also has a total of seven number one hits on the Billboard Dance Club Songs music charts in the United States and he has recently had four number one Billboard chart hits in the years 2016 and 2017.[1] As a remix producer, Moran has remixed work from top music artists including Janet Jackson, Madonna, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Deborah Cox, Cher, Kristine W and many others. This first set focuses solely on his 90's work when he was the guy you called when you couldn't get David Morales, Junior Vasquez or Hex Hector on the phone. By the mid-millennium after Hex Hector dropped out of the scene and Morales and Vasquez weren't enjoying the success they previously held, Tony Moran's star began to shine even brighter. He slipped into this gap and much of his work with either Jody Den Broeder and Warren Rigg produced some of the most iconic remixes of a generation. That's not to say his 90's output was mince meat because his productions and remixes were impeccable and even though they closely resembled the work of all three DJs above to fit what he was working on — they were uniquely his own. His remix of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" is quite possibly one for the record books with its big ass tribal beats and high energy synths — the remix was every gay boy's wet dream. Moran was channeling Hex Hector better than the man himself with that remix. Tony Moran would go on to release his own albums featuring some of the biggest divas on the planet, which were major events (pun intended) in themselves. They would generate massive club hits that soaked the world's dancefloors in man sweat. He was a fixture on the circuit scene and his world tours drew massive crowds making him one of the first superstar DJs (next to Tiesto) to capitalize on his name. Tony has had a long and productive career that continues to generate massive #1 Billboard Dance Club hits for Jason Walker and Martha Wash to this day. It is with much love and admiration for a man who got his start doing exactly what I used to do by creating mixtape edits back in the day that Party Favorz honors the multi-talented Tony Moran into our exclusive Legacy series. ENJOY! Ultimately, there will be three to four sets in this series, which will be staggered out through the month of November (possibly into December) as a lot is planned for the last two months of the year. Releases will be unpredictable and can drop anytime so make sure you're following Party Favorz on Facebook, download the app or sign up for email updates.  Album: The Ultimate Tony Moran Legacy | Volume 1 Genre: Circuit, Tribal, House Year: 2021 Total Time: 03:35:45 1. We have reached the third and final volume paying tribute to the master Ralphi Rosario and his legacy. He continues to remix massive hits to this day as in the recent "Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande as well as RITMO by Black Eye Peas — both of which were monster hits in the past year and featured on these releases. Rosario's catalog of productions and remixes are vast and diverse going all the way back to 1987 even though he's been perfecting his craft for much longer. His songs and remixes have significantly contributed to the soundtrack of millions of gay boys and girls that to not recognize his work would be a travesty. I hope everyone has enjoyed this tribute series and make sure to hit him up live once things open back up sooner rather than later. I have another master DJ on tap who is not only Ralphi's peer but his equal. I'll leave that as a tease for now and will start dropping those sometime this next week or so. After, we'll dive right back into our spring series of Circuit & Anthems, Dance Club, Disco House and Peak Hour to carry you folks through spring break. Until then...ENJOY! I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Nicholas C. $20, Glenn A. $10, Ludovic D. $20, Casper Y. $50, Joe S. $50, Anthony S. $100 and Paul S. $50 for their generous donations in helping us renew our web hosting services. Party Favorz finally made it through the Ralphi Rosario Legacy series, which I overestimated its depth and ended up expanding to three volumes. Even then, there were a lot of great tracks I was loathe to leave on the cutting room floor but when compiling these tribute sets to legends that have been in the business as long as Ralphi has — you have to edit. Volume 2 picks up where we left off with some of his greatest work from over the years including last year's massive "RITMO" by Black Eyed Peas & J Balvin. The hits are included and the one y'all are really looking for will make an appearance on volume 3 (you know what I'm talking about). The goal here is to not only showcase the hits but a lot of the underground and lesser known tracks that were popular in the underground peak hour scene. Nevermind that he and Rosabel have done extensive work with Latin artists providing musical touch that only they could master (next to Pablo Flores, Tony Moran and to some extent Hex Hector and Junior Vasquez) so I did touch on some of those tracks throughout these sets. Overall, there's a great deal of diversity spread throughout these three sets. For those only familiar with the more commercial side of Ralphi Rosario — you're in for a pleasant surprise. I'll be back on Saturday with the final volume. Until then...ENJOY! I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Nicholas C. $20, Glenn A. $10, Ludovic D. $20, Casper Y. $50, Joe S. $50 and Anthony S. $100 for their generous donations in helping us renew our web hosting services. Ralphi Rosario is an American house musician an founding member of the influential Chicago DJ group Hot Mix 5. The group was formed in 1981 while Ralphi was still in high school at the time the group became one of the major early forces of the burgeoning House Music scene in Chicago. By 1987, he collaborated with Xaviera Gold for "You Used To Hold Me," which has gone on to be one of the most influential early House Music tracks of all-time for what later was a revolution on the dancefloor. While Ralphi continued to put out early House Music releases throughout the nineties — his style rapidly changed when he teamed with Miami's DJ Abel (Aguilera) to form Rosabel a hybrid version of his last name and Abel's first name for a new more tribal house sound that he continued to perfect through today. Later the duo would introduce more Latin influences in their work while producing muscular House Music tracks for major artists that showcased their heritage and alternate musical influences. As a duo they have racked up five #1 Billboard Dance Club hits and Rosario has racked up fourteen Top Ten Dance Club Hits and two #1 hits. This does not include the hundreds of #1 hits for remixes of other artists including, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, Cher, Crystal Waters, Cyndi Lauper, Donna Summer, Erika Jayne, Gloria Estefan, Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland, Kristine W, Kylie, Mariah Carey, ONO, Rihanna, Jennifer Holliday, Pussycat Dolls, Selena Gomez, Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and countless others. The list is exhausting but 90% or more are all included in the Party Favorz Diva Hall of Fame. With over 60 hours of tracks (which doesn't even come close to his breathtaking catalog) to choose from — I had numerous ways to approach these two sets honoring the master. I finally settled on hitting on the gayest tracks with the biggest divas and spread it out between the nineties and millennium with some rare tracks and some underground sounds that were predominantly only heard in queer clubs. Once I put out the volume 2 — all told there will be approximately 8+ hours of classics for your enjoyment. These sets are note intended to showcase his entire career but they are a good start. It took me awhile to wrap my head around this but I believe I've done a damn good job at representing some of his finest work whether solo or collaborative. It is my distinguished honor to induct one of the most prolific and influential House Music DJ/Producers of the last 40 years, Ralphi Rosario into the Party Favorz Legacy series. Prepare to be blown away! ¹ Sylvester James Jr., known simply as Sylvester, was an American singer-songwriter. Primarily active in the genres of disco, rhythm and blues, and soul, he was known for his flamboyant and androgynous appearance, falsetto singing voice, and hit disco singles in the late 1970s and 1980s. After releasing his self-titled debut album in 1977, he had moderate success on the Disco charts with "Over and Over," which is represented here by DJ Meme's exceptional tribute mix. Sylvester followed up in 1978 with "Step II," which generated the monumental hits "Dance (Disco Heat)" and "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" featuring backup singers Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes as Two Tons O' Fun. Several years later, the lady's went on to their own gay icon status with the iconic "It's Raining Men" as the Weather Girls after Barbra Streisand passed on the track for her water-themed album "Wet." It should also be noted that Patrick Cowley was invited to join this session and became instrumental in the synthesized arrangements of his biggest hits. He would later play an even more important role in Sylvester's success. The subsequent album "Stars" did moderately well and generated the fabulous "I (Who Have Nothing)" but failed to generate the excitement of the previous album. Subsequent albums faired poorly as Sylvester moved away from his disco roots after the backlash of the "disco sucks" movement. After leaving his label and taking more control over his music, he partnered with Patrick Cowley again on his small imprint Megatone Records out of San Francisco. By this time, NRG music was exploding in the gay clubs and Cowley was at the forefront of the new dance sound. The lead single "Do Ya Wanna Funk" was a massive success and considered to be one of the all-time gay anthems. It was during this tour in the UK that Sylvester got news of Cowley's death from AIDS. Sylvester would go on to release a couple of more albums with uneven success until his final album "Mutual Attraction" with Megatone that was distributed through Warner Brothers (though I thought it was Columbia) found great success on the dance charts with "Someone Like You," "Living For the City" and the title track. As his health began to deteriorate — his next album was never finished nor released. Creating this tribute set was hands down the most difficult I've ever completed. The music spans five decades including originals with remixes from the 90's to present day. Tempos ranged from 147 to 106 bpm. The decision as to what to include and what to drop was torturous and taming some of the older material into a more cohesive DJ friendly environment was a challenge. Ultimately, I believe I did the man proud or so I hope. Sylvester is an American icon and an openly gay man who not only embraced his sexuality but paved the way for the transgendered and the letter "Q" at the end of our representation (likely unintentionally because he was neither — just Sylvester).  There's no doubt that his presentation of queerness was shocking to middle America but he ignited the fire that paved the way for society to become more accepting of those that just want to be themselves. There's no doubt that the world is a better place for having him in it. ¹ Wikipedia Album : Sylvester | The Diva Series Genre : Disco, NRG, House Year : 2021 Total Time : 2:31:16 1. There has been much ink spilled over the Queen of Disco that it doesn't bare repeating. Donna Summer is an icon who laid down the path for future artists like Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and many others to use their sexuality and create their own brand on their own terms. Regardless of the much-hyped manipulations behind the scenes, she was a willing participant and took full advantage of her success up until the point she wrestled herself away from Neil Bogart's Casablanca records leaving a legacy that up until that point — no other female artist had achieved. Today, Donna Summer has a legion of fans both young and old and serves as an inspiration to many would-be female artists who whether they realize it or not — are deeply indebted to her trailblazing career. The Queen is no stranger to Party Favorz, who ranks her at the top of our leading ladies along with Diana Ross and Cher. This tribute set focuses on her work in the 90's through the early millennium and takes a deep dive into updated versions of her back catalog. If many of these tracks are unfamiliar to you or your era was the 70's — look no further than the Casablanca Years set I put out in 2015. There you will find all of her radio and club hits in probably one of the best tribute sets ever laid down honoring the Queen. [youtube v="sLFVMOSdHRQ"] When the word "Ultimate" is dropped into the title of one of these series — it's because it's comprehensive and really long. Leaving no stone unturned, I poured through countless bootlegs and official remixes to put this thing together. Many of the songs on here may be new to even her most ardent supporters. These past couple of Diva Series I've put out have been a bitch to mix and this one was no exception. There's a vast array of styles here from modern-day electro-pop to circuit tribal house and straight up funky house. Yet, it all feels cohesive and frankly — just works. Without further ado, ladies and queers, I present to you...Miss Donna Summer! ENJOY! Album : Donna Summer | The Ultimate Diva Series Genre : Circuit, Funky House Year : 2020 Total Time : 03:27:33 1. Party Favorz is back with volume 2 of the Junior Vasquez Legacy edition and this one is an eye-watering, earth-shattering, ground-moving MONSTER! There's so much in his catalog that it's hard to choose what to include. Remember, this is only meant to represent his work from the late 80's to present day. The bulk of his success ran from the 90's to the early millennium, which these two volumes are heavily focused on. I did run into a couple of long-forgotten remixes he created for one of my all-time favorite singers from Canada. Actually, "vocalist" may be a more apropos term to use because she's a chanteuse and a crazy talented artist. I dropped one of the tracks into volume 1 and then purposely left out the other. I have also compiled our next induction into the Diva Hall of Fame for later this week featuring this woman — assuming I can make it work. In the interim, I'm delivering the final bomb retrospective for (some) of Junior's work. It's my hope that I've done the man and his legacy justice. ENJOY! Junior Vasquez who was born Donald Gregory Mattern (really?) is an American DJ, record producer and remixer.  With ambitions of becoming a fashion designer, he moved to New York City in 1971. His enthusiasm for DJ Larry Levan at the infamous Paradise Garage led him to Shep Pettibone (another DJ/producer begging for a Legacy induction) where they edited mixes for multiple artists like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, and more. Several of his earliest underground house hits like "Work That Pussy" and "Drag Queen" were under the moniker Ellis D with the latter featured here. In 1989, he co-founded the Sound Factory and simultaneously became an in demand remixer for several big label artists. After the Sound Factory closed in 1995, he held multiple residencies including at the Tunnel, and subsequently returned to the former Sound Factory now called Arena. IF MADONNA CALLS Junior introduced Madonna to vogue at the Sound Factory, which served as an inspiration to massively successful song in 1990 by the same name. At the time, she was making a name for herself on the dancefloor by embracing the emerging House Music sounds and flipping them to a more commercial audience. She has long been associated with dance music trends by associating herself with underground names like Shep Pettibone and William Orbit before latching onto Junior Vasquez to remix several tracks from her "Bedtime Stories" album. It was around this time she had allegedly agreed to perform at one of Junior's Sound Factory shows and bowed out at the last moment. Queens being queens, Junior took one of the messages she left on his answering machine and looped it into the deep house groove "If Madonna Calls" without her permission using the phrase "this is Madonna" "are you there" "call me in Miami." The bitch track went all the way to #2 on the Billboard Dance Club charts and spawned multiple remixes — including anniversary remixes. Afterwards, any chance of reconciliation and working together again went out the door. This actually turned out to be lucky move on her part as she went on to introduce the world to Victor Calderone and Peter Rauhofer (who was already riding high with Club 69). Nevertheless, neither of them are getting any younger and clearly Madge is going through some things at the moment. It's time to come together and bury the hatchet. Life's too short for former besties to hold onto  grudges. This set does not really reflect any official Junior remixes of Madonna other than "Secret" and the fabulous Marvin Gaye rendering of "I Want You" where Junior was commissioned to remix the track but it never received an official release. DIVA DIVA DIVA Scroll through the list of of diva's in the Party Favorz "Diva Hall of Fame" and you will be hard-pressed to find anyone Junior hasn't remixed. From Annie Lennox to Whitney Houston and every diva in between, there's hardly anyone in there that he doesn't know or hasn't remixed. Seriously! These two volumes honoring the master DJ are nowhere near as comprehensive and representative of this man's work and barely scratch the surface. It would take probably 10 sets to really showcase his amazing talent. Drugs, Sex and Dance In 2006, Junior gave an interview to A&U (America's AIDS Magazine) about a 5 year period where everything was a blur due to abusing  crystal meth. I remember this article very well but it appears to have been taken down and his Wikipedia page omits it entirely. While he's clean and sober now and starting a new chapter in his life — this is an important story that shouldn't be buried. There are excerpts and message boards dedicated to this dark period in his life but it's not fair to quote any of them without the original interview as a source. I understand there is currently a biopic being made about his life. Considering how long he's been in the industry and how many artists he's worked with — it's my hope that they don't whitewash an important factor of...

Whether he went by his official name Prince Rogers Nelson, The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, a symbol that represents both the male and female genders or just The Artist — we all know the man by Prince. Prince was an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor and filmmaker. He was a prolific writer and recorded so many songs that his fight with Warner Brothers lead them to put the breaks on his releases for fear of oversaturation.  He often gave songs away for free under different pseudonyms like "Manic Monday" by the Bangles (Christoper), "Sugar Walls" by Sheena Easton (Alexander Nevermind), "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" by the Time (The Starr ★ Company). Also, his music was  covered by other artists — most notably "I Feel For U" by Chaka Khan, "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor and even the John Cougar Mellencamp produced "When You Were Mine" by Mitch Ryder among many others. Prince also produced several acts like the Time (mentioned above), Sheila E (Glamourous Life) and Vanity 6 (Nasty Girl) as well as a host of others. Ultimately, Prince was one of a dozen artists that literally provided the soundtrack to the eighties. With musical styles that ranged from Funk, Rock, New Wave, Soul, Psychedelia, and pop, he was the considered the quintessential artist in that he drew his inspiration from people like David Bowie, James Brown, Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton, Miles Davis among many others and it showed in his music and performances. In 1985, I was living in Austin, TX and working as a copy clerk for the Austin American Statesman and part-time for Hastings Records in the mall. We frequently received free tickets to concerts and Bruce Springsteen and Prince were playing within weeks apart from each other. I was a fan of both artists but there were only so many tickets to go around so I opted for the Prince tickets. These were for his Purple Rain tour and my best friend Dan and I went to the concert where he put on a 2-hour funk and rock extravaganza like we had never seen. His performance was a once in a lifetime experience and has stuck with as one of the most memorable I had ever attended. There is just way too much to cover about this man and his genius that hasn't already been written. The contributions that Prince has made to music, his guitar skills, his songwriting his production, his everything makes him one of the most admired if not influential artists of all time. While most of the tracks in this set stay fairly close to the originals — they are presented in their long form and re-edited for easy DJ mixing along with some notable modern-day remixes by Kue who did an outstanding job modernizing "Controversy" and "Purple Rain" for the dance floor. It is with much love and admiration for the man known as Prince that Party Favorz finally pays him his due respect with this tribute. RIP my friend. David Robert Jones (8 January 1947—10 January 2016), known professionally as David Bowie, is one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Fueled by a range of musical styles, Bowie often projected a variety of personalities depending on which project he was working on and where his musical interests lay at the moment. From Glam Rock, to Disco and everything in between — he achieved massive success with his art that affected millions of lives with each evolving iteration.  Since his death in 2016, Party Favorz has received many requests to create a Legacy set featuring his work. Given the substantial output and variety of his catalog that literally goes back to 1969 — it was near impossible to do any justice to the legacy Bowie has left us — until now. There's no doubt he would have gravitated toward the current electronic movement and even began remixing his work in the early 90s.  That being said, with a variety of music styles and the ability to capture the true magic of his work — it is near impossible to recreate.  Nevertheless, I persisted and pulled off something special for hardcore fans (such as myself) that at the very least extracts multiple highlights of his career even if it's not all-encompassing. Frankly, a good portion of his catalog would be near impossible to translate to the dance floor. I have to admit, the Julian Marsh remix of "Space Oddity" and 7th Heaven remix of "Rebel Rebel" are spectacularly executed, as well as several others. I cannot deny the emotions that overwhelm me when I listen to his music as it brings back a flood of memories — some good, while others, not so much. It just proves that Bowie's music will stand the test of time. It is with much love and respect that Party Favorz honors David Bowie with his own tribute to dance music. Some may consider this tribute blasphemy but there's no doubt this would have been his next act. RIP Ziggy. If you've been anywhere near a circuit event in the last 20 years, you've no doubt danced to the uplifting, hi-energy, diva rousing productions of Wayne G The man has single-handedly re-worked some of the most iconic gay anthems of the past two decades. From Kylie to Cher, Wayne's remixes are designed to make us move, sweat and revel in our own gayness. Some of his most notable anthems are from Australian singer and gay ally Shauna Jensen whose massive voice can get the party started — even in the smallest of venues. If you had to make any comparisons of his work — that honor would be to Hex Hector who was given his own multi-set tribute many years ago. Both employed the epic anthem that built layer upon layer before dropping from exhaustion only to pick right back up. These mixes are fairly long clocking in at 8+ minutes. I took a scalpel to many of the songs to keep the party moving along in coherence with today's listening expectations. Wayne's induction into the Party Favorz Legacy Series was already pre-planned but expedited when one of our followers requested it and sent over some rare tracks that even I didn't have. While I couldn't use everything as his back catalog is extensive — I used enough in this massive tribute to get everyone up on their feet and praise the DJ gods. Please take notice that two of the tracks "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera and "I'm Outta Love" by Anastacia are rare bootlegs and appear to be in mono. I could not secure full stereo-quality productions but the remixes are so good — they had to be included for posterity's sake. One of the hottest club music remix and production teams at the moment is Dirty Disco. Longtime rivals, friends, and now business partners DJs Mark De Lange and JD Arnold are from Houston, TX where De Lange owns several bars in the area including Bayou City Bar in Montrose and the Eagle while the two use their properties as testing grounds for new music. [source: The Boys of Dirty Disco Keep the World Dancing] Between the two of them, they possess a long history in the club music scene that dates back to the late 70's and early 80's. With a musical biography that starts during the Disco era leading up to everything that's hot now, they apply their historical knowledge to create some of the most beloved and iconic tracks that provide the soundtrack to our gay lives. I've chatted with Mark several times and can honestly say that not only is he a sweetheart, but his appreciation and understanding of the depths of dance music also aligns with mine. It literally takes this kind of firsthand experience to be able to create the modern-day soundscapes that populate the clubs. Personally, I'd put these guys on par with Barry Harris and Matt Consola who have been churning out some great floor-stompers the past decade. I've had to rework this set three times before finally pulling together what I thought worked best. The music included in this legacy-defining set touches on a variety of genres from Tribal, House, Disco, and Progressive. Their catalog is so vast, that I was saddened when I had to drop a ton of tracks to keep it tight. Even then, this set clocks in just over 4 hours — as I decided not to break it in half. It literally is one giant glitter ball packed with originals, current hits and reworked classics and anthems. Dirty Disco has been working on a new track for Pride that I had been anticipating and wanted to include in this set. Due to touring schedule conflicts with the fabulous Jeanie Tracy, her rendition of "Thank You For Being a Friend" has been delayed until next week. Yes, it's "that song" written and made famous in 1978 by Andrew Gold and later made even more famous as the theme song to the gay classic sitcom "Golden Girls" that ran from 1985 to 1992 but sung by Cynthia Fee. So there, I let the cat out of the bag. If they manage to get the track out by the end of next week, I 'may' go back and update this set with its inclusion. For now, I've got to get to work on the 2019 Catch-Up series that I've been teasing for a month. I hope to have that out by the end of next week. After that, we jump head-on into summer. If you've attended any circuit even in the last 10 years, you've undoubtedly danced to the euphoric sounds of Toy Armada and DJ Grind. During the late 90's and early millennium, DJs became household names in the likes of Hex Hector, Thunderpuss, Victor Calderone, and Jonathan Peters. With their signature big room sound filled with tribal beats and uplifting and joyful anthems, Toy Armada and DJ Grind has taken over the mantle once held by Thunderpuss (a.k.a. Barry Harris and Chris Cox) as the go-to producers for many of the top pop and dance artists. The two had met after DJ Grind sent an email to Toy suggesting they work together on a remix for the Kimberly Locke tune called "Feel the Love" (featured in this set). That track went to #1 in the UK which solidified a partnership that has proven to be successful beyond anything they probably could have imagined. Over the course of two volumes, Party Favorz explores the musical journey these guys have taken for 10 years and counting. Since Toy Armada had already established himself prior to working with DJ Grind and continues to put out his own releases, I've included many of his remixes as well which compliment their overall style. It's with much love and respect for the work these guys do in fulfilling our lives with joy and happiness that uplifts our spirits on the dancefloor that I add them to our Legacy series for their amazing contributions to dance music for the masses. I'll be back with volume two on Wednesday. Until then...ENJOY! Album: Toy Armada & DJ Grind | PRIDE Legacy Edition vol. 1 Genre: Circuit, Tribal, House Year: 2019 Total Time: 02:45:26 1. Pierre David Guetta born 7 November 1967) is a French DJ, music programmer, record producer, and songwriter. He has sold over nine million albums and thirty million singles worldwide.[2] In 2011, Guetta was voted as the number one DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll.[3] In 2013, Billboard crowned "When Love Takes Over" as the number one dance-pop collaboration of all time.[4] David Guetta had already been involved in the club scene since 1984 - 2000. However, it wasn't until he and partner Joachim Garraud collaborated with the American Gospel singer Chris Willis for a series of songs with including their first single "Just a Little More Love." That collaboration spawned several more releases and the eventual compilation of F*ck Me I'm Famous. in 2003. In 2004, their collaborations continued on the release of Guetta Blaster. After releasing four semi-successful singles it was a mashup of "Just a Little More Love" and the Tocadisco remix of The Egg's "Walking Away" titled "Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)" that blew up the global dance floors. The rest they say is history. We all know the name David Guetta as one of the most successful DJ, producer, and songwriter of the early millennium. His superstar status skyrocketed with the massively successful "When Love Takes Over" with Kelly Rowland and later "Titanium" with Sia. As the dance music world evolved, so did his style. He went from Electro-House to EDM and now Future House, Reggaeton and whatever the current trend in dance music takes him. David Guetta is still in high demand and often releases tracks under his pseudonym Jack Black. In fact, he just had a number one Billboard Dance Club hit with "Put Your Phone Down (Low)" not to mention the wildly successful "Wild Ones" with Nicky Romero and Sia. You could say that David Guetta paved the way for other superstar DJs like Avicii, Calvin Harris, Marshmello and, The Chainsmokers by elevating these folks not just from being a DJ or dance party promoter but to multi-talented artists in their own right. It's with great love and respect for the man and his music that Party Favorz recognizes the very talented David Guetta with an induction into our Legacy series. There's a lot of memories built into this set and I fully expect a lot of you to fall back on your heels when you hear a lot of these older tracks again. 10 years ago was not that far back but many of these songs are now considered classics. Because his output is so extensive, I attempted to culminate some of his early work with the majority of his biggest hits, which ultimately spans two sets. Expect volume 2 to drop tomorrow. He is part of a new generation of  DJs that have taken production and songwriting to a new level of superstardom. In addition to writing, producing and singing his own hits like "Feel So Close," "Summer," and "My Way" Calvin Harris has worked with some of the biggest and most respected recording artists of this generation including Rihanna ("We Found Love" and "This Is What You Came For"), Ne-Yo ("Let's Go"), Florence Welch ("Spectrum" and "Sweet Nothing"), Sam Smith ("Promises"), Ellie Goulding ("I Need Your Love" and "Outside"),  Halsey ("Alone"), Disciples ("How Deep Is Your Love") and Dua Lipa ("One Kiss") amongst many others. Calvin Harris' talent cannot be underestimated as he has a unique ability to tap into the pop sensibilities of other artists' music while delivering club-friendly monsters. The man is literally a one-stop tour de force in the industry. With a combination of multiple radio and club hits and a residency in Las Vegas, Calvin Harris has landed on Forbes' list of the highest paid DJs from 2013 - 2018. As Calvin Harris continues to experiment with everything from 80's dance, NuDisco, EDM and House Music — his ability to adapt and reference the old and make it new again is what sets him apart from many of his contemporaries. As one of Party Favorz favorite here and now DJs — it's only appropriate that he be honored with our Legacy series (even if his career is just getting started). If ya'll haven't noticed the trend — I like to post sets in pairs that have some sort of relationship to each other. In this case, it's the totally awesome pop-rock band Maroon 5 to the previous OneRepublic. Much like the latter, Maroon 5 which consists of band members of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar. Original members Levine, Carmichael, Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick [source wikipedia]. In 2002, the group came out strong with the rock track "Harder To Breathe" but then moved quickly into my soft-rock MOR tracks like "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved" making it difficult to pigeonhole their sound. Regardless, they proved to be adept in creating radio-friendly tracks that garnered a lot of attention. Their next album saw the release of "Makes Me Wonder" which shot to #1 on the pop charts but subsequent singles failed to chart well. By the time their third album came out, the first two singles did not do so well either but it was the third single "Moves Like Jagger" that was remixed to include Christina Aguilera (a partner judge on the juggernaut "The Voice" talent show.) that caused the song to blow up at radio and went on to be the biggest song of the year. By this point, Maroon 5 had finely tuned their pop craft and invited major Hip Hop artists to collaborate on subsequent singles with an eye towards the current culture while retaining their pop sensibilities. One of the bigger contributions Maroon 5 has made is to the dance music community. So many of their songs translate so well to the dance floor — it was inevitable they'd be sampled, bootlegged in addition to the official remixes of their biggest hits. With this massive crossover appeal, and the eye-candy lead singer whose presence on a widely popular talent show Maroon 5 has managed to solidify their rightful place in popular music as well as dance floors across the globe. Yes, Party Favorz unabashedly used the sexy pic from a photoshoot that Adam did for charity but honestly — Maroon 5 isn't just their frontman. It's all about the group and their enormous talent as musicians and masters of pop-rock music. Adam is just an added bonus. If you've got it — use it to your advantage. It's for all these reasons and more that Party Favorz honors Maroon 5 by acknowledging their contributions to dance music with our prestigious Legacy series. Enjoy! OneRepublic is an American pop rock band formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2002 consisting of lead vocalist Ryan Tedder, guitarist Zach Filkins, guitarist Drew Brown, bassist, and cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher. These guys rose to fame on the now-defunct MySpace social media site. Once signed to Velvet Hammer (a boutique label of Columbia Records), they recorded their first album in 2005. Two months prior to the release of their debut album "Dreaming Out Loud," they were dropped by Columbia. Their first single "Apologize" was a big success on the MySpace music charts but didn't get much notoriety outside of the social media network. It wasn't until famed producer Timbaland took notice of the group and signed them to his label Mosley Music Group. The original form of Apologize was released with little fanfare at radio but after Timbaland remixed the track and included it on his "Shock Value" album, the song skyrocketed to #1 internationally — including #1 for 8 weeks on Billboard's Pop 100 chart. OneRepublic continued to have minor success on the pop charts but what really made them shine were the epic remixes of their tracks. Their songs translated well into the burgeoning EDM scene at the time and managed to deliver epic sing-along anthems in the vein of Coldplay and U2 (both groups who also have dancy retrospectives in the Legacy series). Despite having only released 4 studio albums and selling over 10 million albums globally — OneRepublic has never garnered the kind of respect that their contemporaries like Coldplay have.  I liken them to The Alarm — the underdogs in the 80's and 90's that were often compared to U2 but never achieved the same global admiration despite an output of well-written anthemic songs. It's difficult for a band to be compared to another when they are in fact their own entity and have their own style. If you trust Party Favorz to deliver only the finest and are a fan of strong, meaningful, EPIC anthems, then trust me when I say that this set will sweep you up in the urgency and emotion portrayed in these songs. Even if you're not familiar with many of the tracks — you will find yourself gleefully singing along. Recently, OneRepublic has been working with a variety of stellar DJ/producers like Kygo, Seeb, and Galantis. This could be the start of an entirely new direction for them commercially. I certainly hope so. This latest edition of the Legacy series will set off several more tributes this week and in the coming month. I hope ya'll like this as much as I did putting it together. In furtherance of our Legacy series that honors the late Kim English, I wanted to cover the flipside to Kim's career. Ms. English was originally from Chicago and like many famous artists that preceded her, has roots in her hometown church singing gospel. House music's roots are embedded in gospel music and Kim — with her smoky alto — was a natural fit. Her voice is very much reminiscent of Toni Braxton and Anita Baker. In fact, she re-recorded "Been So Long" from Anita's Grammy-winning album "Rapture" — and a remix by Wamdue is included here. Her original recording of "Nite Life" with Ten City is what got her noticed. The song is a classic staple in the House Music annals and has been re-worked a multitude of times over the years. With interest from Masters at Work (Louie Vega and Kenny Dope), Nervous Records picked the track up and signed Kim to a recording deal. Throughout that deal, Kim had a total of eight #1 club hits on the Billboard charts. On one end, you had the circuit-driven throbbing beats from some of the biggest names in DJ production such as Razor N Guido, Michael T. Diamond, Hex Hector, Junior Vasquez, Thunderpuss and more. On the flip side, she was remixed by some of the most prominent House Music producers as well including David Morales, Masters At Work, Todd Edwards, John Cutler, Mousse T., E-Smoove, ATFC and more. These remixes are the primary focus of this second set. With so many mixes to choose from, I took this set towards a heavier house sound than my previous effort. It begins with a couple of Soulful House tracks and then escalates from there. If you want her true Soulful House experience, then the original House Sessions I created for her is still up on the site. It is with love and respect that Party Favorz honors the late Kim English in this final set. Given the evolving nature of club music today, her talent will be sorely missed. RIP. I'm sad to announce that one of the most prolific and talented divas Kim English has passed away at the very young age of 48. With a total of 13 top 10 Billboard Club/Dance tracks and 8 that reached #1 on the chart, the self-penned tracks spoke of her sincerely held religious convictions with themes of joy, empowerment, and personal relationships provided the soundtrack to many in the gay community. Hit's like "Unspeakable Joy," "Everyday," and 'Treat Me Right" live on in our memories of what real house music was all about. After the release of her third album "My Destiny," Kim gave an interview where she admitted that it was difficult to reconcile her differences between her faith and the gay community. This statement alone had a significant impact on her career in which her label — the infamous Nervous Records — withdrew future support for her album. I tend to look at this through the lens of what happens when our idols prove to be less than our pre-conceived notions and the pedestal we place them on. Michael Jackson and Donna Summer had similar issues during the latter part of their careers. I suggest we set aside the negative from the positive aspects of their music. Their impact on culture is so significant — we should separate their beliefs and actions from the timeline of memories they provided us. These 18 tracks stand as a testament to the power of Kim English's work and what it represented to us at the time of their peak popularity. Most of these tracks clock in anywhere from 9 - 12 minutes. I went through the list and heavily edited them to maintain their energy without losing the integrity of the originals. Since Kim English was multi-talented in Soulful House Music with a Jazz sensibility, I  plan on working out a second set featuring the same tracks that will have a different overall feel that is closer to her house music roots. I was never thrilled with her first induction into the Diva Hall of Fame, but this allows me to correct that wrong. In short, I worked this mother out! It is with much love, admiration, and respect that Party Favorz re-inducts Kim English into the Diva Hall of Fame while simultaneously entering her into her rightfully earned place in our Legacy series.  ENJOY! Party Favorz is back with my birthday gift to myself that I decided to share with the world. This latest Legacy induction is none other than the musically talented Purple Disco Machine. German native Tino Piontek aka Purple Disco Machine got his start as far back as 2009 with his Deep Funk branded Disco House music project. He appeared on my radar in 2013 with the release of the #1 Beatport Deep House track "My House." From there, it was a slow build of originals and collaborations featuring some of the funkiest House Music tunes. Shortly thereafter, PDM was an in-demand producer for the likes of Jamiroquai,  New Order, Claptone, Faithless, Seeb, Ekkah, L'Tric, Shapeshifters, Hercules & Love Affair (a personal favorite), and Sigma with Paloma Faith; many of which appear in this set. PDM has had a stellar 2018. His rework of the 90's techno camp classic "Male Stripper" by Man 2 Man which includes one of Loleatta Holloway's classic adlibs has gone on to be a massive success this year. From underground to mainstream clubs, you've no doubt heard various iterations of his "Dished (Male Stripper)" on Spotify and on dancefloors throughout the year. In fact, the song will end up on our Year End Best in Dance series. PDM does NOT have a signature style, which would allow the listener to be able to say "that's definitely..." which is a good thing. He's fully adept at adapting his brand of disco and funk to the songs he's given, allowing them to shine brighter on the dance floor. Whether it's NuDisco, Deep House, Classic House or Indie Dance, PDM creates the grooves that make you wanna dance! It's not unlike Party Favorz to recognize up and coming talent in our Legacy series for those DJ's/producers that are on the track to superstardom. By no means is his tribute meant to indicate the end of his career, as he's only getting started. I expect bigger things from him in the coming years. Hey Madonna, if you're reading this, tap this man for your next album! It is my greatest pleasure to honor Purple Disco Machine with this tribute to his building legacy. Cheers to a future of more foot-stomping, booty-shaking, crowd-pleasing magic! ENJOY! After the overwhelmingly positive response from the U2 dance music Legacy set last week, I decided to add a companion set featuring their contemporaries, Coldplay. Coldplay is a mega rock band that originally formed in 1996, which includes lead singer Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion. They released a few EP's before their major breakthrough in 1999 with the single "Yellow." Their first two full-length albums "Parachutes" and "A Rush of Blood To the Head" are two of the most important art-rock albums to come out in the millennium just prior to Radiohead's masterpiece "OK Computer." These albums are beloved by millions of fans worldwide for their introspective and thoughtful songs that just, really struck a nerve with people. I really don't know how else to phrase their significance. These albums were just so important in my life as they were to countless fans. Subsequent albums received mixed reviews and became more polished but still bolstered Coldplay's popularity with hook-filled anthems like "Viva La Vida," "Sky Full of Stars," and "Something Just Like This" with the Chainsmokers. Initially, the dance remixes appeared to be an afterthought but with the breakthrough of "Clocks" from "Parachutes," and the subsequent Heaven and Earth remix, the burgeoning House Music and EDM scene became a natural fit for their stadium anthems. Much like the U2 Legacy set, this tribute focuses on Coldplay's dance music output (official or otherwise) and reinterpretations of many of their most beloved songs. There's no doubt that Coldplay has a long career ahead of them, and much like U2 will maintain a long history and loyalty from their most ardent fans. They certainly deserve it. It is with great respect that Party Favorz honors the dance musical legacy (so far) for Coldplay, one of the most important bands in the modern era. U2 Dance Music Tribute

The 1980's produced some of the most iconic artists and groups of any generation. From Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Prince to R.E.M. The Police, and Bruce Springsteen there was something in these artist's styles, brand, and message that triggered our emotions and fealty. U2 is one such group that has maintained the loyalty of millions of people worldwide through their sincerity, musicianship, and political activism. Let's face it; anyone that has seen them in concert or listened to their live recordings is easily swept up by the anthemic reinterpretations of their studio recordings. It's hard not to feel an affiliation with the group and their message after deep listening. During the 90's, Bono and band members the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen began to experiment with the burgeoning techno and trance scene in their music. Sometimes with great fanfare, while other times falling flat. Regardless, these reinterpretations standout on their own with Paul Oakenfold (and to a lesser extent William Orbit) introducing elements into their music that allowed U2 to reach a wider audience on the dancefloor. To this day, U2 has continued their anthemic glory and fully embraced their music and message to be translated for the world's dancefloors with continued success. This legacy edition (or tribute) to their achievements in dance music is strictly focused on that area of this group's genius. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my tribute to one of rock's greatest and most influential bands as reinterpreted by other electronic artists, U2. I want to thank everybody that has privately written to me about my current mental health. I assure I am fine (sort of). For me, life is a struggle as I am certain it is for many of you. I am trying to refocus my efforts towards positive outcomes and plan on sticking it out at least through the end of the year. With me, you never know. Thanks again! -K Album: U2 | Legacy Genre: Trance, House Music Year: 2018 Total Time: 02:51:43 Love Is Bigger Than Anything In It's Way (Intro Version feat. Party Favorz is wrapping up our Back to the 80's edition with the final induction into the Diva Hall of Fame with the gender-bending and ultra-influential Dead or Alive. Dead or Alive was an English pop band formed in 1980 in Liverpool; finding success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the Top 40 UK and three albums on the Top 30 UK. They were the first band under the production team of Stock Aitken Waterman to have a number-one single. At the peak of their success, their lineup consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Mike Percy (bass), Steve Coy (drums) and Tim Lever (keyboards); they have released seven studio albums and five compilation albums. Two of the band's singles reached the U.S. Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 -- "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" (No. 11 in 1985) and "Brand New Lover" (No. 15 in 1986). "You Spin Me Round" peaked at number one for two weeks in 1985 in the UK, then charted again in 2003 and 2006 following Burns's appearance on the television reality show Celebrity Big Brother.[vague] It also became the first of two singles to top the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked them as the 96th most successful "dance artist" of all-time. As of 2017 Dead or Alive has sold over 30 million albums and 28 million singles worldwide.[5] The band was discontinued following Pete Burns' death in 2016. ³ As a GenX child of the 80's, I can honestly say that Dead or Alive was the shit! Beyond the two singles mentioned above, songs like "Lover Come Back To Me," "My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me a Doctor)," "Something In My House," and "Come Home With Me Baby" were floor-filling staples at the time of their release. Fueled by the production team of Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW), Dead or Alive generated some of the most beloved Hi-NRG dance tracks of the era. Sadly, lead singer Pete Burns died of cardiac arrest in 2016 at the age of 57. As part of the era of big-hair and excess, the influence Dead or Alive had on dance music, as well as gender-fluidity, cannot be understated. It is with great love and admiration that Party Favorz inducts Dead or Alive into the Diva Hall of Fame as well as our Legacy artists edition. Aretha Franklin [1942 – 2018] | Legacy [Updated]

Aretha Franklin was originally inducted into the Diva Hall of Fame in 2016. Her entire history and back catalog is not inconsequential and for music buffs (fanatics) like myself, I was completely mesmerized by her work once I really started digging into her earlier catalog that was before my time. By all accounts, my musical education goes way past what's presented here on this site. Yes, I love house music in all its forms but the truth is, I just love music. From Motown, Stax and Soul to Disco, New Wave, Hard Rock, Punk, Country, and Pop, I absorb it all and have a vast appreciation for virtually everything. Aretha Franklin is one of the biggest standouts of my musical brain. I listen to her when I need a pick me up or even when I'm in a celebratory mood. Her music, her vocals, her style and ability to reinterpret other people's music is second to none. Her music and voice was the soundtrack for a generation of people that were living through the turbulent times of the 60's when equal rights and war took center stage as protests mounted throughout this nation. There is a reason she is the Queen of Soul. Party Favorz is a site devoted to all things "dance" and the variety of genres that fall under that all-encompassing label. It would be difficult to pigeon-hole Aretha into any of these categories but ever since she began dabbling in sophisticated disco in the early 80's, which later exploded into the massive "Freeway of Love," "Who's Zoomin' Who," and "Another Night," there is no denying her ability to cross genres. It wasn't until the early 90's when C + C Music (Clivillés and Cole) reworked her single for the "A Deeper Love" from the "Sister Act 2" soundtrack that she successfully transitioned into House Music. That song has been a major staple in DJ arsenals and has been reworked a multitude of times; mainly because of its deep resonance with the Gay community. What's important to note is that many (but not all) of her earlier hits have inspired today's DJ's to sample those works and present these classic songs to a whole new generation. Many of those are represented here along with her more contemporary releases and official remixes. What I've pulled together is the best of both worlds. While her original induction into the Diva Hall of Fame is still up on this site, this new set expands on several of those songs with new releases and alternate versions than what first appeared on that induction. Once I heard the news of her illness, I began working on this set a week ago and frankly think I've outdone myself because pulling all these different genres together is no easy task. With that said, Party Favorz is honoring the one and only Aretha Franklin in a way that I only know how. She is widely considered to be one of the best and most influential singers in American history. With much love and R-E-S-P-E-C-T,  ladies and gentlemen, I give you the fabulous Aretha Franklin. ENJOY! This set has been updated from the original post on 8-18-2018. Whitney 2018 Thank You Mix

In the final days of 2017, I thought I'd show some appreciation for the folks that have donated, contributed and made comments by sending up a thank you mix by Whitney (no last name required) to take us into 2018. You folks are the only reason I'm sticking this out one more year. Originally, I had put together a set of all new mixes but after listening to it, I quickly became bored. Many of the remixes were bland and brought nothing new to the original remixes or actual song and seemed forced into a box that didn't quite fit, so I scrapped the whole thing. I ripped out half of the newer remixes I did like and went back to the table with the original mixes that made many of these songs genuinely special. The goal was to freshen up the original tribute to one of the greatest vocalists of all-time while balancing the magic of the originals with fresh perspectives from today's musical landscape. Since there are only so many ways to skin that cat, this is what I came up with. I'm not going to bore you with all the details of what I had to do to pull this off but I will say that it wasn't easy. It took almost two weeks to put together and by the time I finished (yesterday), I just didn't have it in me to sit and listen for an hour and 40 minutes with my headphones on. Because of the heavy song editing, I combed through it for errors so we're good there. I just don't know how great it all sounds (fingers crossed). If this isn't up your alley, stick with the original Whitney Tribute from 2009. To be honest, I've been overly sensitive, touchy and generally bitchy, which is normal this time of year (for me anyway). Not good for someone prone to panic attacks. I've found that reading less news, staying off Twitter (I already don't use my personal Facebook page) and finding movies on Netflix or Amazon Video that aren't intense helps calm my nerves. I'll probably start reading books as I've already dropped my subscriptions to the WaPo and NYT and uninstalled HuffPo from my phone. If I need a heaping dose of crap news, there's plenty to be had in my Google feed. I've also found that the AP and Reuters apps are a good source for reliable non-biased news, though I still tend to stay away. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I apologize for my crap behavior as I try to work out my own demons going into the new year. I'll be sending out email invites based on email addresses from PayPal donations and then reaching out to others via Facebook messenger. The link will only last a week before it's deleted so please make sure you grab it now as it will likely be part of the subscription service coming in the New Year. Just give me several hours to get everything sent out to everyone. For now, I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and a kick-ass 2018... Simply Red Legacy is the perfect synthesis of soulful R&B pop and House Music, which was indicative of the time these songs were released. Lead singer Mike Hucknall has an amazing voice that lends itself to hits like Holding Back the Years, Money's Too Tight Too Mention, If You Don't Know Me By Now and on down the line. Their album Home is as relevant now as when it was originally released. If you don't own their greatest hits, it will just melt your heart and I can't recommend it enough! I had to skip club favorites like the Club 69 remix of Ain't That a Lot of Love (which for some reason was omitted from my 1999 Year in Dance) and the AFTC's version of Sunrise in favor of their more house-friendly versions but that won't distract from the pure bliss for diehard fans and house music lovers alike. We have finally reach the end of our tribute to one of the most prolific and unquestioned godfather's of house music. David Morales Legacy pt. 4 picks up where the others left off and throws in several obscure remixes like Janet Jackson's 'When I Think Of You', Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and First Choice's 'Love Thang'. It also includes some very early remixes that were the tipping point of 80's house, which later evolved into 90's house. Song's like Jody Watley's 'I'm the One You Need' and Lisa Fischer's 'Save Me' encapsulate that 80's vibe in transition. You may have noticed that throughout all four volumes, the songs have been heavily edited. Party Favorz took a scalpel and cut these monstrous epics into finely crafted tunes that capture the overall feel, while keeping the vibe intact. There was one exception; 'There Must Be Love' by Janice Robinson was so complicated in its structure, that it was impossible to maintain a good flow without losing a lot of the essence of the original, so I left it in its full near 10 minute glory. I hope everyone has been enjoying this trip down memory lane that honors David Morales in all his glory. I'm going to be sitting back and jamming to pt. 3 shortly, taking in his amazing accomplishments as an artist. This is David Morales Legacy pt. 3, which delves more into the type of house music he's known for. Of course I included Mariah Carey's 'My All' which is epic in every way possible and a remix that I NEVER even knew existed! As ya'll know, I am a HUGE Kristine W fan and how it escaped me after all of these years that there was a David Morales remix of 'One More Try' is beyond me. I literally have everything she's ever done. How this slipped underneath my radar is beyond me because it was never included on any of the maxi's for the single that I had. As you can imagine, discovering this gem was like having sex for the first time. I wonder what else is out there that I don't know about? The same goes with Sade's 'Shelter', which is sweet soulful sampling of 'I Never Thought'. Anyway, it turns out there's going to be a fourth installment, which will round out the full Legacy tribute. David Morales (born August 21, 1961) is an internationally acclaimed Grammy Award-winning American house music DJ and record producer. In addition to his production and DJ work, Morales is one of the most prolific remixers of all time, transforming many pop music songs into club-friendly dance tracks. Born in New York City, he is of Puerto Rican ancestry.[1] That's the jest of what you get when you visit his Wikipedia page. To everyone else, David Morales is a prophet; a truly gifted DJ who was sent from the heavens to save the dancefloor. Along with his brethren Frankie Knuckles, Shep Pettibone, Todd Terry, Eric Kupper, MAW and down the line, he's considered one of the godfathers of House Music. In short, he owns this space. David Morales first came on my radar in 1991 with his re-work of the Shawn Christopher classics 'Another Sleepless Night' and from there, I had become one of his legions of followers. It's apropos that I kick off this three set tribute of his work with that song. By no means is this series meant to be comprehensive but rather a good starting point of some of the countless memories he's provided us through today. It is with much honor and a HUGE heaping of R-E-S-P-E-C-T, that Party Favorz honors the man and legend, DJ David Morales. Enjoy! You may be wondering what I'm doing posting at the moment. It turns out, having year's worth of education crammed down my brain in three months is not the way I learn. I haven't given up because coding is what I want to do. I'm working on my options to ease myself into it before taking on bootcamp again. Thinkful was awesome in their understanding and refunded my money. Nevertheless, all hope is not lost as I fully intend to pursue this in the coming months. In the meantime, I've cleaned up the site and consolidated the categories (once again) to better reflect what's available on this site. I've merged the Year in Dance into House Classics and created a multitude of sub-menus making it (hopefully) easier for people to find or even stumble upon what they're looking for. In short, I want Party Favorz to be recognized for the sum of its parts, not just Top EDM/Dance, Circuit Tribal House and Funky Disco House or even the Diva Hall of Fame. There's well-over 10 years of dance music mixes worth discovering in my archives and 99% of it is still available. I am dire need of some cash flow, so anyone that appreciates the work I'm doing and that hasn't already, please consider making a generous donation today. It would be greatly appreciated. Speaking of which, I've neglected my shout outs to folks who have contributed over the past several months, so here goes: Paul B., Glenn A., David J., Anthony S., Joe M., Ronald C., Bryan D., Ludovic D., Andrea V., Patrick H., and Theodora S. There were a few donations via Stripe for credit cards that do not have access to at the moment since I changed my phone number. Thanks to those folks will be included in a future update. The second half of the DIVA Tribute focuses on Erasure's output from the mid-90's and on. Their writing remained sharp and focused like the uplifting rally cry of "Freedom," the absolutely beautiful "Sacred" "Be With You" and "If I Could Fall in Love With You". While I skipped over their remake of Cerrone's "Supernature" a song for all intents and purposes did not need to be remade by anybody for any reason but their delectable choice to re-do Blondie's "Rapture" and Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" were solid tributes to the originals. In particular "Rapture" taken from the "Cowboy" album had only one remix of the song by Matt Darey who was huge in the Trance community. Coming in at a breakneck speed of 137 BPM, it was never my cup of tea. Revisiting it after all these years has allowed me to really appreciate it. The remix was of its time and listening to it in the car makes me want go 80 down I-85. It's a different kind of fun from the original version. People have been suggesting an Erasure entry into the Diva Hall of Fame for I don't know how long as a companion to the Pet Shop Boys sets I made back in 2007. I was always unsure of those sets (now combined into one) until its release in 2009. I never thought I could do Erasure justice but I'll be damned if I haven't pulled it off (pat on back). We are scraping the bottom of the barrell for the DIVA series inductees. I never really had a list but picked artists that had a strong gay following and that I personally digged. I've got three more new inductions coming up next and then I'll start on some ladies who deserve a refresh. Expect two or three by the end of the month. Until then...ENJOY! In late 1986, I moved back home from Austin because I hadn't started college right after graduation and needed to get something going. I went back to work for C&C Music/Video, a company I worked for two years for in high school. "Oh L'amour" had already been a massive club hit but I hadn't given much thought about the group behind it, Erasure. Having more exposure to all sorts of music because of my job, my impression of the group did a 180 once "Circus" dropped. "Upstairs at Eric's" by Yaz (Yazoo in Europe) had already seen massive success earlier in the decade. The group consisted of former Depeche Mode member, Vince Clarke, and the vocally gifted Alison Moyet. A fact I became aware of as my interest and love for all-things Erasure blossomed. Andy Bell and Vince Clarke's (aka Erasure) music spoke to me like nothing I ever heard before. The lyrics are what I like to call smart-pop sceneries that while universal, actually speak directly to the hearts and minds of young gay folk.  There are so many fantastically well-written songs it's hard to single out a couple that has left lasting memories for me. So, I picked two that directly correlate to my young gay self at the time of their release. It's not the way you lead me by the hand into the bedroom It's not the way you throw your clothes upon the bathroom floor Been thinking about ya, I just couldn't wait to see Fling my arms around ya as we fall in ecstasy Ooh, sometimes The truth is harder than the pain inside, yeah Ooh, sometimes It's the broken heart that decides First off, "Victim of Love" slays me every time I hear it. While it shouldn't, it makes me really happy and leaves tingly butterflies in my stomach like I've fallen in love for the first time. Granted, the sentiment of the song is the opposite of the feeling I get whenever I listen to it but it also brings back fond memories of Michael. He was 20 years my senior, a friend, a mentor and one of the gentlest persons I've ever met. I was totally enamored with the guy but he was never going to allow anything to happen. He found the club scene distasteful and tried to provide me with alternative culture in opera and is totally responsible for turning me onto "Mommie Dearest," which I had never seen. As any good card-carrying gay, I latched onto "NO MORE WIRE HANGERS" LOL. Sadly, he later moved to California where his partner helped him end his life. I was heartbroken when I heard the news, which was an indication of future devastations that were to come. I can't explain how I correlate "Victim of Love" with Michael but I always think of him fondly when I hear it. I don't want to look Like some kind of fool I don't want to break My heart over you I'm building a wall Everyday it's getting higher This time I won't end up Another victim of love "Wild!" was another brilliant album that generated multiple club hits. "Blue Savannah" is a personal favorite to this day. However, it's "Star" that takes the prize. I was head over heels for Pete; more so than I had ever been for anyone. Things didn't shake out well for us and it's the very first and only time I truly felt jealousy, anger and resentment. I was the cruelest bitch anyone could ever be to another. In fact, I'd say I never knew I had it in me. I attempted to apologize multiple times only to be ignored. It wasn't until my last trip to PBD's (the local gay club) before moving to Atlanta that we had an honest, peaceful conversation after I saddled up on the bar stool next to him. "Star" was actually his song and reflected on a relationship he had with a different "Keith" (go figure) but I've long since adopted that song (and "I Try" by Macy Gray) as it related to us. Smart and ambitious, Pete was an all-around good guy and I wish him nothing but the best in life. Did you ever have a lover Leave you for another To take your love and kisses for granted? Never to discover War is not the answer

I had originally planned to update George's original induction into the Diva Hall of Fame from 2010 this next year. Under the circumstances, I changed those plans and undertook the project the day after Christmas. I couldn't allow the original mix be the final word. I spent an entire day remastering each song one by one, regardless of whether I would use it or not. I spent the next day throwing everything together in one tight set. I listened to the whole thing last night and woke up this morning and realized I needed to edit myself. I removed several songs and am thrilled to announce that it is absolutely 'Flawless'. The original was a bit over-compressed which stemmed from the lead version of 'As' his duet with Mary J. Blige. Typical of most things Jonathan Peters does, his work was always explosive and mastered in a way that would blow a hole in the ceiling. I had re-worked all the songs to fit in with that one. At the time, earbuds were pretty much shit so the extra bass was necessary; Nowadays, not so much. I hope everyone appreciates what I managed to pull together in honor of the man and his legacy. Peace. It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I am re-posting George Michael's original induction into the Diva Hall of Fame and am now filing it under Tribute. He is truly one of the greatest artists of my lifetime and his album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 is one of my top 10 all-time favorites. George, you will be sorely missed. From teen idol pin-up boy to critically acclaimed worldwide superstar to the embattled artist who was entangled in litigation against his music label, George Michael has pretty much been there and done that. Closeted through much of his career, George ultimately outed himself when he was arrested for solicitation with another man in a public park. Instead of denying the circumstances that lead to his arrest, George embraced his new platform as an out gay man. Not exactly the best person to be paraded as a role model, George maintains the distinct honor of being one of the earliest openly gay men with significant notoriety due to his stardom. No matter what you have read or think you know about the man, I would suggest to go back and just listen to his music. It doesn't matter if it's “Everything She Wants” or “A Different Corner” from his early days as part of the duo Wham! or ANY song off of his debut album “Faith,” the man has freaking talent. His writing skills, his vocals and of course his presence are what made him a tour de force. “Listen Without Prejudice,” his follow-up to “Faith” is quite possibly the most underrated works of art from the 90s; I shit you not. Go back and REALLY listen to the album; it's fucking brilliant. No I've never come close in all of these years You are the only one to stop my tears I'm so scared of this love And if all that there is, is this fear of being used I should go back to being lonely and confused If I could, I would, I swear Through all the ups and downs of his career, George Michael remains one of the most significant artists in pop music history. No doubt his very public issues with drugs has not helped his image (and has even gotten him banned from touring in the US), but he wouldn't be the perfect DIVA if all his dramedy was hidden away in the confines of the closet. Georgie, baby, sweetie pie, you've just been inducted. Since the demise of the dynamic duo Thunderpuss in 2003, DJ Barry Harris had been largely absent from the commercial production and remix industry he and Cris Cox helped established, for almost a decade. In 2014, he emerged and slowly began to re-establish his name with original remixes like ' Party 'Round the Word' by Jason Dottley & Debbie Holiday, classic pop remixes like 'Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Taylor and even Thunderpuss re-remixes of massive club hits like 'Stranger in My House' by Tamia. Then he started adding bootleg mashups of current pop hits like 'Sorry' by Justin Bieber coupled with the equally-titled by Madonna; and classic mashups like 'I Feel Love' by Donna Summer coupled with 'My Love Is Your Love' by Whitney Houston. It wasn't long before the labels caught on and began sanctioning (if not commissioning) his bootleg remixes for their current roster of pop stars like Sia 'Alive', Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding 'Outside' and Adele's epic 'Hello' creating a remix powerhouse for a new generation of club-goers, effectively showing the current of remixers how it's properly done. Party Favorz has been at the forefront of proudly featuring DJ Barry Harris productions and remixes on the site as one of our top go-to DJs of the moment. A moment that lasted much longer than anticipated with his factory-like output matching that of Almighty, 7th Heaven and Tiesto. The only difference between these mass-manufactured remixers is that he is his own ghost-remixer. How utterly unoriginal that he would lend his name to something he actually remixes himself [snark]. His ability to resurrect elements of his past work and brilliantly adapt it to current trends in remixes is unsurpassed if not awe-inspiring while his continued output suggests a longevity that's only beginning to scratch the top surface. It's for these reasons and more, Party Favorz honors DJ Barry Harris with this worthy Tribute set. Here's looking to 2017 and beyond. It's been a very long time coming but I finally sat down and put together a fitting tribute to the Queen of Soul, Mother of all mothers, a timeless singer that crosses multi-generations, the one, and only Miss Aretha Franklin. Without a doubt, this tribute set was the hardest I've ever put together for any of our divas. Typically, their careers can span from the 70's or 80's to current day but Miss Aretha's career goes back to the 60's where the bulk of her amazing talent was really put on display. Originally signed to Columbia Records, her career didn't really take off until she jumped ship for Atlantic Records and began working with Jerry Wexler. Hits like I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You), Respect (her signature song and later a feminist anthem), A Natural Woman (You Make Me Feel Like), Chain of Fools, Think, I Say a Little Prayer, Spanish Harlem, Rock Steady, Day Dreaming, Angel, Until You Come Back To Me (That's What's I'm Gonna Do) and countless others formed a long-lasting career that defined an entire generation. She had a resurgence during the 80's thanks in large part to Clive Davis from Arista records who did the same for Dionne Warwick and brought us future divas like Whitney, Taylor, Deborah & Lisa among others. Certainly, Miss Aretha had some 90's house hits and recently released an album of covers which included a remix album of those songs but nothing quite extensive. It was my job to hunt down the best of the best of her 60's output (which was no easy feat) and then clean them up because many are older than sin itself and then try to work them into a cohesive set. On a week that I was supposed to be taking a break from things, this consumed a great deal of time trying to make this all work but it's freaking Aretha, so I was dead-set on making this work. I'd say the end result was well worth the effort and any massive fan of Aretha such as myself, will appreciate this presentation as a compliment to her stealthy catalog of hits and folks it's HUGE! The contributions this woman has made to music are unfathomable. She formed the core basis for a generation of DIVAS and many more well into the future. It is with great love, R-E-S-P-E-C-T, duty, and admiration that Party Favorz finally inducts and honors the one-true queen into the Diva Hall of Fame. We bow to her majesty. I'm pretty anal about sound quality, especially when dealing with bootlegs and older recordings. After stuck in traffic most of yesterday previewing this set in my car, it dawned on me that I hadn't uploaded the final mixdown version of this set. The most notable changes are in "Freeway of Love," where the original was over-compressed so much, I had to rebuild it from top to bottom and  "I Say a Little Prayer" where the ending feels more like an addition than an extension of the edit because it changes pitch and the bass becomes uncomfortably obnoxious.  For those as incessant about their quality of sound as I am, I have re-uploaded the set with the final mixdown version that corrects those issues. Sorry for any inconvenience. I'm back with the third and final Tribute set to amazing Victor Calderone. Personal favorites and standouts include Mandalay's Beautiful, Madonna's Die Another Day, Mary Mary's Shackles, Goldfrapp's Strict Machine and Dynamix & Tina Ann's Don't Want Another Man among other heavy weights in this set. As mentioned yesterday, the U.S. has our 4th of July celebration going on this weekend and I've got an appointment with a surgeon first thing in the  morning. For those that remember all the bullshit and torture I went through in 2010, it's that time again as the device they implanted in me has to be replaced. I've since dropped my previous doctor only to replace him with another asshole from Emory University. I'm hoping the surgeon will be a bit more human but have my serious doubts. As you can probably gather, I have zero respect for the medical community as a whole with the exception of my primary care physician (who's not even a doctor but a Nurse Practitioner) but I've been with him for a very long time. It's neither here nor there because my alarm has long since gone off to replace this contraption and I'm tired of sounding like a throw-away cast-member from Star Wars. What's that mean going forward in July? I'm glad you asked. I was planning on taking some time off from the site but that doesn't appear to be happening. So, I've scheduled my latest EDM set, the Summer Edition for the circuit boys and the annual Beach House all scheduled for next month (fingers crossed). I haven't started on any of these but will shortly. August is Madonna's birthday month and I usually do something to honor the diva and I know I had planned on a farewell to summer Mixtape as well. Beyond that, I can't really say as it will all depend on how I feel after the operation, so we'll just play it all by ear. In the meantime, you've got more than enough content to fuel your holiday road trip, pool party or workouts through the weekend so please no complaints; my response won't be particularly polite. I hope all of our good friends across the pond get things worked out with their economy and make a sound judgement about what to do next as well as wish everyone here in the U.S. a very happy 4th of July weekend. Moving along with the Tribute trilogy to the fabulous Victor Calderone, I'm serving up a heaping platter of hits and favorites along with a couple of bootlegs. Personal favorites from this set include K.D. Lang's Summerfling, Shapeshifters Lola's Theme, Beyonce's Naughty Girl, Depeche Mode's Precious, Bettte Midler's Beautiful and the song that began Victor's meteoric rise to fame, Madonna's Frozen. Speaking of Madonna, his remix of Bedtime Story from the album Bedtime Stories blends so well with her Ray of Light offerings, I'm blown away how mind-numbing good this remix is. Clearly that song (co-written with Bjork) was a stepping stone for what was to come and while Victor's remix came way after the original release, it could easily sit nicely between Sky Fits Heaven and Skin. The other bootleg included here is Britney Spears Everytime, which frankly never lent itself to being remix-ready as the official remixes never did anything for me. This remix (which was never released by Jive) feels a bit unpolished if unfinished. Nevertheless, it would have been a much-welcome addition to the official release because Victor was clearly on to something making it worthy of inclusion. With the 4th of July weekend coming up and some other personal matters to attend to, I'll be dropping the third and final volume tomorrow for your holiday enjoyment. Until then ...ENJOY! I knew for sometime now that I wanted to put together a Victor Calderone Tribute series that honored the man and the more commercial aspects of his career. In fact, I had siphoned off all of his mixes into a separate folder but just hadn't gotten around to doing anything with it. I finally sat down and in the spate of a day knocked these out. Frankly, they just came together with a few titles left on the floor (Hollywood, Who Am I, Give It Up) but I do believe what I came up with rocks the rafters and most fans will be quite pleased. I'm not going to go down the road of detailing his history, how he started out or even how he became Madonna's go to boy after kicking Junior to the curb. He's given a plethora of interviews, all of which pretty much well-document his rise to superstar DJ and the demands that were placed on him to churn out a remix. One of the best things I did take away from him was that he turned out some of his best work in a week. Do not over think something because for starters, you don't have the time and when you start tinkering around thinking you can make something better, you just screw it up. I've lived and learned from that motto with regards to this site; sadly I just wish I had read that from him sooner rather than later. These three sets are RAW and completed in one take. I went back and did some minor editing afterwards to ensure better flow but for the most part, I just let these 9+ minute epic mixes have the floor.  Of course I did the pre and post mastering before and after so nothing comes at your ear-drums unexpectedly. Probably the most time I spent on this was Sarah Brightman's remake of Dust in the Wind. I have no clue where I picked that up from but there it was in my folder. After listening to it, I remembered the skip towards the end, which appears to be the same version all over the internet. Well folks, I fixed it, so you're welcome. Much like his contemporaries (Hex Hector, Thunderpuss, Peter Rauhofer) songs are attributed to him that he never remixed so I thought I'd clear those misconceptions up once and for all. While he did remix Destiny's Child horrendous remake of the Samantha Sang ballad Emotion, he DID NOT remix Emotions nor was it sung by Kristine W. That excellent song was produced by Tony Moran and sung by Elle Patrice. Granted, Tony was channeling his inner Calderone in that production but it still isn't Victor. Speaking of Kristine W, Victor DID NOT remix O Holy Night either. I know that has been attributed to him by everyone and their mother but the quite excellent remix that everyone remembers is actually by Illicit who had a really good run on the hits around the time of Victor's peak. These days, Victor is still doing his thing but moved to the dark-side in his productions. Actually, his productions were generally pretty dark to begin with but his interest these days are a bit more low-key original productions. He still continues to tour so check out his schedule on Resident Advisor to see where he's playing next. It's with great honor and respect that Party Favorz honors the great Victor Calderone and his contributions to house music. Oh no, say it ain't so!  Yup, we have finally arrived at the final set paying tribute to the genius that is Hex Hector.  To be honest, Hector didn't create all of these mixes himself.  He has partnered with several folks for the final product throughout this eight set series.  Dezrok, Soul Solution and even Jonathan Peters helped him flesh out a lot of these songs.  Perhaps there is no more deserving of recognition in his partnerships than Mac Quayle. Mac Quayle is a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, who has written and produced for many of the DIVAS included in this series.  Today, he produces scores for a multitude of TV shows and movies.  His partnership with Hex Hector on many of the productions they put out is equally as important to shaping the sound of the finished product as the lead man himself.  I just want to ensure that Mac gets the credit he deserves, because without him on board, many of these remixes may have never occurred much-less been as stellar as they are. Mac, we salute you! Much like volume 7, this set includes many number one Billboard Club/Dance hits but are still considered to be lesser than many of the iconic ones spread out over this series.  That is until you get to the final two.  Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You and Celine Dion's I Drove All Night was about as massive and iconic as they get.  So for those of you who questioned as to why these weren't included ...HERE THEY ARE! Continuing the rollout of the Hex Hector Mixology series, I've got volume 6 on tap.  Once again, this set features some of his biggest and most memorable remixes like the massive Un-break My Heart by Toni Braxton, I Learned From the Best by Whitney Houston and a personal favorite Girl From the Gutter by Kina. Also, I was really impressed with I've Had Enough by Regina Belle, a song I'm not even familiar with but there it was sitting in my hard drive LOL.  It happens. Trying to keep this short and I'll be back tomorrow with volume 7.  Until then ...ENJOY! Volume V of Hex Hector Mixology series is a cream mix featuring many of his biggest hits.  Normally I pick favs out of each set, but this particular one is stacked head to toe with them, so it's kind of pointless. I'm elated over the positive response these sets have generated.  I had attempted to put these together back in 2010 after I had created the Thunderpuss tribute sets but just couldn't get my head wrapped around it.  I remember nothing was working for me, so I just put it off for another day.  It wasn't until DJTMD from Montreal reached out to me about some Hex mixes and mentioned he may take a stab at it, that it jogged my memory.  I'm glad he did because overall, I think these have come together quite nicely. In fact, I have expanded it from six to a total of eight in this series.  That means I've got three more going up this week.  So if your favorite mix hasn't shown up yet, it likely will once all the sets have been posted. I'll be back tomorrow with volume 6.  Until then ...ENJOY!
