In this episode I share some of the knowledge I received from my experience at the ancient Mexican sites of Teotihuacan and Monte Alban during a two week drive with my my Father from California to Costa Rica. My experience there ties into Buckminster Fuller's book, Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth, and its concept of true wealth. As well as Thoth's Prophecy to Asclepius. I close up by sharing some insights about Mesoamerican time keeping and its intricacies.Spiral Revival's InstagramAlai's InstagramThat's Just Reality bookMuch love & blessings, Alaï Margarita Canyon Miel'aqua Malaika Delmaré Zaela Starshine

The Mexican pyramids refer to the ancient pyramid complexes located in Mexico. These pyramids were constructed by various indigenous civilizations that thrived in what is now present-day Mexico. The two most well-known pyramid complexes in Mexico are Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza. Teotihuacan, located near Mexico City, was a significant pre-Columbian city during the Classic period. The Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon are the largest structures within this complex. These pyramids were constructed by the Teotihuacanos, a civilization whose identity and origins remain a subject of debate among researchers. Chichen Itza, located in the Yucatan Peninsula, was a major city of the Maya civilization. It flourished during the Terminal Classic period and was later influenced by the Toltecs. The most iconic pyramid at Chichen Itza is the Temple of Kukulcan, also known as El Castillo. This step pyramid is renowned for its precise astronomical alignments and the famous serpent shadows that appear during the spring and autumn equinoxes. Apart from Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza, there are numerous other notable pyramid complexes throughout Mexico. These include Palenque, located in the state of Chiapas, known for its intricately carved temples and the Temple of the Inscriptions; Tulum, situated on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, featuring stunning ocean views; and Monte Alban, an ancient Zapotec city in Oaxaca, characterized by its unique architectural style. Each of these pyramid complexes showcases the remarkable achievements in architecture, engineering, and religious beliefs of the ancient Mexican civilizations. They provide fascinating insights into the rich history and cultural heritage of the region.

Where in Mexico can you experience some of the best food in the country? Where they are famous for their chocolate, host a day of the dead festival, and have many street markets? Where you can find artisans, the massive ruins of Monte Alban, nearby villages and the Sierra Norte?Welcome to Oaxaca City in the state of Oaxaca Mexico! While visiting Oaxaca, I booked an apartment for less than $300 / month. While there, I ate some of the finest cuisine for usually less than $10 for the entire meal. I saw how they make mezcal locally using agave, penas, and water. There I worked from my apartment, cafes, and the local coworking space, Selena. In Oaxaca you can experience beautiful sunsets, see the culture booming around you and experience the best parts of Mexico while working full-time and traveling on a budget. If you are looking for a great first stop to experience Mexico as a digital nomad, Oaxaca city should be at the top of your list! And if you want to have a one of a kind local experience, visit Oaxaca City during its internationally renown Dias de las Muertes festival.Where they celebrate the dead through local traditional celebrations. I will be coming back for this festival and I suggest that you do the same.I hope you found this helpful. Be sure to like and share, and I look forward to seeing you next time!
Those school-boy days of drinking shots in parking lots are gone, but my affection for Monte Alban Mezcal will live on and on. In the mezcal-geek bubble that Chava and I travel in, you don’t hear a lot of love for the first mezcal most of us ever tried. But outside those circles? In the real world? Monte Alban is that best friend who can teach you right from wrong and take you from weak to strong. This golden-colored episode of Agave Road Trip is a love letter to Monte Alban — and it comes with a gusano in every download.Find extra photos and related links at agaveroadtrip.comPhoto: Anna BruceHeritage Radio Network is a listener supported nonprofit podcast network. Visit Oaxaca, Mexico and Monte Alban with the Amateur Traveler: This video shows the ruins of the Zapotec ruins of Monte Alban on the hills above Oaxaca, Mexico. Built 2500 years ago the Zapotec leveled off a mountain to build their city in the clouds. Only about 10% of their city has been uncovered.
In this episode of Arriba! Folklorico Music and Dance of Mexico, we travel to the South of Mexico on the Pacific waters, stretching along the coast to the northern part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The state of Oaxaca has one of the largest populations of native indigenous tribes, or "indios" as the Latin Americans call them. Of the seven major cultures and areas of Oaxaca, we focus on 2: the Zapotecas and the Mixtecos. In this episode, the music from the Jarabe Mixteco opens the show. We also discuss the fiesta that takes place in July which is known as La Gelaguetza, or the "fiesta de la Sierra." In the capital city of Oaxaca itself, we describe one of the main indigenous dances, DANZA DE LA PLUMA. Also, during the festivities of La Gelaguetza, the food is rich--in particular, the famed MOLE NEGRO Oaxaqueno. In addition to the mention of the archaeological zones in the region--such as Mitla and Monte Alban--the episode describes the courtship dance of the JARABE MIXTECO, with its stanzas and tableaus for the CHASE, the TORITO and the conquest of the man over woman to symbolize the move from suitor to marriage partner. Especially symbolic is the rose that the lady carries by the stem in her teeth, and which the man grabs from her with his teeth to symbolize the transition from enagement to marriage. The episode ends with the ending musical score of the JARABE MIXTECO. It is usually played by big brass bands during the festivities of La Gelaguetza, but here, we listen to a version performed by mariachis.
