Cities and Memory - remixing the sounds of the world

"I have chosen a recording by Erick Ruiz Arellano of ancient Mayan instruments which sound like bird calls and I wonder if these were used for ceremonies for people to assume bird or animal spirits for specific rituals as practiced in some ancient cultures today. "I have chopped up fragments of the original sound recording and used some FX to create a chant like call, along with a recording layered in, that I made a few years ago of an installation in a church of replicas of ancient clay flute bowls. Finally I have added a looped seagull cry from where I live in Hastings which the original recording bring to mind. My idea is to create an echo of sonic worlds reverberating down the centuries and embalming the present." The Maya of Central America were careful skywatchers. They built observatories for tracking the Sun, Moon, and stars. They developed accurate calendars, and could predict the motions of astronomical bodies. There’s even evidence that they could predict eclipses with a fair degree of accuracy. One example of their astronomical prowess may be found in the ancient city of Chichen Itza, in the Yucatan Peninsula. A shadowy snake appears to descend one side of a massive pyramid there on the equinoxes. It may represent Kukulkan, the god of the underworld – a serpent with plumes of feathers. The pyramid was built as early as a thousand years ago. It’s about 80 feet tall. It consists of multiple tiers, like a limestone layer cake. Each side has a staircase with 91 steps, which lead to a temple at the top. That creates 365 total steps – the number of days in a year. For a couple of weeks around the equinox, the northwestern corner of the pyramid casts a shadow on the raised sides of the northern staircase. As the shadow descends, it looks like a snake slithering down the pyramid. It culminates when the shadow reaches the base of the staircase, which features a carved head that looks like a snake. It’s not certain that the alignment was intentional. Even so, it’s one of the world’s most famous equinox markers, drawing thousands of visitors each year to mark the start of spring – which arrives tonight. More about the equinox tomorrow. The Cuban Underwater FormationsDuring an exploration and survey mission off the west coast of Cuba in 2001, unusual stone structures were detected in sonar imagery at depths ranging from 600 to 750 meters. The discovery was announced by Pauline Zalitzki, a marine engineer, and her husband Paul Weinzweig, who led the mission under the auspices of the Cuban government. Widely reported at the time by the popular press, the discovery has since become a topic of some speculation due to what seemed to be the lack of any follow-up investigation.More than a decade later, a scientific report was published by the expedition's lead scientist, Manuel A. Iturralde-Vinent, in which he states:At depths between 600 and 750 metres below sea level, EXPLORAMAR researchers found a set of unusual structures that they called MEGA. Since the discovery was revealed to the press, various opinions have been raised about its origin, which have captured the popular imagination. There has been talk of a “submerged city”, the remains of “Atlantis”, a Mayan settlement, among other similar ideas.Complete article: https://beforeatlantis.com/2025/01/07/the-cuban-underwater-formations/Dr. Mark CarlottoWhat if ancient sites such as Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, the Acropolis, and Temple Mount are not only thousands of years old but much older? Until recently, a lack of hard evidence has led mainstream archaeologists to dismiss theories of past civilizations as pseudoscientific attempts to resurrect ancient myths and legends. However, new archaeological discoveries are beginning to challenge conventional explanations.Inspired by Charles Hapgood's hypothesis that the ice ages were the result of shifts in the geographic location of Earth's poles, independent researcher and author Mark Carlotto has discovered that numerous sites throughout the world are aligned to what appear to have been four previous positions of the North Pole over the past 100,000 years.By virtue of their alignment to ancient poles, Carlotto proposes a new hypothesis: that the original sites were first established by a previous advanced technological civilization that existed throughout the world tens of thousands of years ago and later co-opted by our ancestors who rebuilt and expanded over and around the older structures while preserving the layout and orientation of the site to the original pole. Before Atlantis considers the possibility that this previous technological civilization could have developed from an earlier migration of modern humans out of Africa, which later might have co-existed with our primitive hunter-gatherer ancestors, and that past encounters with this older civilization were the source of ancient myths and legends of powerful gods, lost continents, and even Atlantis.Mark Carlotto is an aerospace engineer with over thirty years of experience in satellite imaging, remote sensing, image processing, and pattern recognition. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1981 and has published numerous technical articles and books. Dr. Carlotto contributed extensively to the investigation of the Face and other structures in the Cydonia region of Mars, analyzed anomalous objects in STS-48 and STS-80 space shuttle videos, and participated in a recent study of unusual surface features on the far side of the Moon. In his latest book, Before Atlantis, Mark Carlotto draws from his unique background and experience to propose new answers to basic questions concerning human origins, ancient technology, and archaeological enigmas.https://beforeatlantis.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Nestled in the heart of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, the ancient city of Chichén Itza stands as a majestic testament to the architectural ingenuity and cultural richness of the ancient Maya civilization. It's long been regarded as a shining example of Maya influence, yet today, many experts agree it's not typically Maya at all, but rather a reflection of a shifting, adapting civilisation.  So how did the city become such an important hub to a dominant Mesoamerican superpower? What were the cultural and political dynamics that shaped its unique evolution? And why was it so suddenly abandoned, and left to be reclaimed by the jungle?  This is a Short History Of Chichen Itza.

Ancient Pyramids to Modern UFOs: Lost Knowledge of Ancient Technology

Edge of Wonder Podcast

From ancient pyramids to modern UFOs, there's a lot of lost knowledge of past technology we have yet to rediscover. With all of our modern day tech, we think this time period is the most advanced the human race has ever been. But what happens when we look at ancient sites, such as the buried pyramids of China, Serpent Mound in Ohio, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, the Sphinx, or the Great Pyramid, which aligns perfectly with the solstices? Even with our most advanced technology today, we can't recreate something like the Great Pyramid of Giza. So is there really lost knowledge that was once known to our human race that is no longer remembered by our world? We can connect with the stroke of a key to someone on the other side of the world and send spaceships or satellites into space. However, we can't seem to figure out the simple matter of who built the pyramids or even when they were built. Some say they were constructed 3,000 years ago, and others say 12,000 years ago—or even more. But aside from how old they really are, the more important question is: what was the ancient technology that's been lost to us? Why isn't there a global push to recover this lost technology? In modern times, the big discussions are about aliens, UFOs, and UAPs. How advanced is this otherworldly technology compared to our own, and did ALL technology—including ancient technology—come from “those who came from the sky,” the Anunnaki, or aliens? Join Ben and Rob as they lead a discussion on ancient technology and compare it to our modern day tech. Also be sure not to miss the live Q&A followed by a meditation/prayer only on Rise.TV.

The Maya appeared in Yucatan seemingly out of nowhere in 3100 BC. But recent underwater artefacts tell a different story: a culture was already established there six thousand years earlier.According to the sacred book Chilam Balam, the ancestors of the Maya arrived in 9600 BC from a large island to the east called Atl when “the waters swallowed the source of wisdom”. A catastrophe destroyed their home, forcing the divine survivors to sail west. Described as People of the Serpent, they were led by the god-man Itzamna who brought the knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, agriculture, architecture and mystical practices, thus explaining how the Maya inherited a fully developed civilization and cosmology. What's astonishing is that hardly anyone has heard of Itzamna or his sages, the Itz — water wizards — people with knowledge of the laws of nature and how to bend them. This is their story, how their progeny became known as Maya, and how the temples of Yucatan and Guatemala today are the final expression of a project 9000 years in the making. Filmed in Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Palenque, Tikal and many other locations, this documentary also explores the elements and purpose behind each temple.Freddy Silva is a bestselling author, and leading researcher of ancient civilizations, restricted history, sacred sites and their interaction with consciousness. He has published seven books in six languages, and produced fourteen documentaries.Described by one CEO as "perhaps the best metaphysical speaker in the world right now," for two decades he has been an international keynote speaker, in addition to appearances on Gaia TV, History Channel, BBC, numerous radio shows and podcasts.https://vimeo.com/ondemand/mysteryofthemaya?fbclid=IwAR1hE6Y9rrF71eN1MoSo12YcEzMG2Fyh2oHev7vW4KgxN68wNy__zQCDpIEhttps://invisibletemple.com/?fbclid=IwAR0PJJimom3WmUjhRwfSJZsBh8fSQFGSZ6GguT-DluECdQAuj3Al8zA41WMThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/2790919/advertisement

But the best episodes of all are when all of these categories overlap—and MAN, did they come together when they started looking into humanity's past. Have you ever heard of James Churchward, the occultist who popularized the idea of a lost continent of Mu? What did explorers like Augustus le Plongeon really find in places like Chichen Itza that link together ancient Egypt, and the Maya people, and Atlantis itself? There are a lot of accounts out there about the lands of Lemuria, Atlantis, Mu, and a missing, hidden history of humanity that we don't know much about. But what Metaphysical found blows the top off a lot of the rumors out there and gets down to some amazing information. Quetza Sha is uniquely gifted with the ability to engage with the spiritual dimensions. These abilities opened up to him as a child. As a young man he had a powerful vision of the Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl (known as Ku'kul'kan to the Maya). This powerful being gave him the name Quetza Sha, meaning 'The King of the Feather' and it represents the continuation of the knowledge of the spirit of Quetzalcoatl/Ku'kul'kan. This connection was established through the language of spirit. During this early period of discovery, he was also initiated at Chichen Itza in the temple pyramid of Ku'kul'kan, the Feathered Serpent. There he was initiated into the path of Ku'kul'kan and received the knowledge of the Galactic Maya. The Galactic Maya are the guides from the stars who created the solar and lunar empire of Chichen Itza. To carry out the mission given to him, Quetza Sha has travelled to sacred sites around the planet to help unify the knowledge of the various tribes of the sun. He discovered he had the ability to open dimensional portals and to download sacred manuscripts and codes for the benefit of humanity. Quetza Sha journeyed throughout Central America, South America, Europe, the United States and Canada sharing ceremonies, courses, therapies and presenting at conferences worldwide. In each sacred place that he visited he activated the dimensional portals that are found in sacred codes to create a fabric of unification for all of humanity. For decades now, Quetza Sha has been a cosmic messenger and keeper of this sacred knowledge. Shaman & Healer Quetza Sha has been gifted with the unique ability to help others heal by connecting with their etheric bodies through intention and vibrational frequency. Through various methods of therapy that he has developed over the years he is able to help others connect with their ancestral being, to heal and to understand the lessons of past lives and to assist them to clear foreign entities from their auric field that may inhibit their spiritual progress and enjoyment of life. Internationally Recognized. Today Quetza Sha is recognized internationally as a spiritual healer, ceremonial leader and cosmic messenger. mystikmaya.com For more typical skeptic podcast episodes www.youtube.com/c/typicalskeptic www.anchor.fm/typical-skeptic www.rokfin.com/typicalskeptic www.rumble.com/typicalskeptic To donate to the typical skeptic podcast: buymeacoffee.com/typicalskeptic paypal: typicalskeptic1@gmail.com #maya #galactic #federation #extraterrestrial #alien Affiliate: tachyonliving.com/rob.html Merkaba Pendants Tachyon Jewelry and much more --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/typical-skeptic/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/typical-skeptic/support
