How are those NCAA brackets going? If you still filling out one, you are a sucka. I explain why I have that opinion with facts. Maybe next year you'll ride the chalk. Kyle Whittingham the former Utah head Football Coach. I lay down some crumbs on why he is now the Head football coach at the Univ. of Michigan. It has more to do with Utah than Michigan. BTW: he made out like a bandit. The Score act was not voted on in Dec. of 2025, I tell you why it was not and tell you it has to do with one man in college football. I discuss what was the fallout of the high powered and overrated meeting in the Whitehouse a couple weeks ago. I let you the reason for no executive order this time. Well, not yet. Today March 25th several people are testifying before congress on college sports. I talk about the difference between the 100+ plus people on the white house "BLUE RIBBON" Panel and the people that are going Infront of congress today. Lastly, I give facts and opinion on the Hockey situation at Univ. of Minnesota Men's and Women's hockey programs. Why it happened, who was the real benefactors of this happing. This will not get me any invites to many occasions over at the U. of MN. Who gets credit for starting a meme? Usually... nobody — they're made too quickly and organically. In the case of one of the most famous bait-and-switch memes of all time, the "Rick Roll," we may be looking at something experts call convergent evolution. Did the Rick Roll originate with a piece of code on the message board 4Chan, or with a prank call to a local sports show in Michigan? And why does the Rick Roll have such staying power? Is it codified in the DNA of the song itself? We explore the meme's origin, the history of the song, "Never Gonna Give You Up," and its impact on both internet users during COVID-19 and on the performer himself. This episode was originally published on Oct. 08, 2021. *** Survey alert: Tell us what you love about the show, what you want more of; what you could stand a little less of. And if you complete the survey, we'll send you an extra episode (what Ben's calling a "dashboard confessional") in January. Take the survey here: wbur.org/endlessthreadsurvey Thank you!

Kevin and Casey tackle the most successful prank in internet history: Never Gonna Give You Up. Is it just meme-core nonsense, or does Rick Astley actually kind of...slap? Kevin questions everything he thought he knew about white guys with deep voices, Casey wonders if they’ve been emotionally manipulated by a trench coat, and together they ask: is this song a joke, or are we the joke?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jam Notes: One of our best performances. Lisa Timberlake guested for a rendition of Feelin' Good. Justin did a number on the set list and made it feel and flow completely different. There were quite a few people in from the surrounding area for the first two sets but then it tapered out by the last set and we went home. This set/jam is sourced from the room microphone Ben setup and is not based off of house sound.

Also we wanna thank Rainbow for running house sound on this one; it sounds very very nice and everyone is quite crisp and solid.
Jam Notes: Learning Respect Yourself and preparing for our gig in August. Ben switched to recording with the Tascam, which is way less effort and more appropriate for a rehearsal than the Zoom.

Das Internet-Phänomen hat dem Song eine bis heute ungeahnte Popularität beschert. Rick Astley nimmt es mit Humor und freut sich über den nach wie vor anhaltenden Erfolg seines Gute-Laune-Hits.

Rick Astley is a singer and songwriter from England, whose debut single, "Never Gonna Give You Up," became an international smash hit. The song came out in July 1987 and won the BRIT Award for “British Single of the Year.” It hit number one in 25 countries, and Rick Astley was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist. And then, 20 years after the song came out, it became a new kind of phenomenon, when the meme Rickrolling was born. Last year, the music video for "Never Gonna Give You Up" passed a billion streams on YouTube. The song was written and produced by the production team Stock Aitken Waterman, who became hitmakers for artists like Kylie Minogue, Dead or Alive, and others. For this episode, I spoke to Rick Astley, and songwriter and producer Mike Stock, and the two of them tell the story of how "Never Gonna Give You Up" was made.
