Great interview with Mr. Ngugen Tran on his book , Mind Control Through Breath Regulation techniques, the importance of meditation and their benefits, aging gracefully, COVID-19, Quantum physics and more. Mind control yoga cures many problems in life. It is straightforward to do, to enjoy short- and long-term benefits and natural spirituality. It is all laid out in the book including amusing humanistic and touching stories. Book Reviews "At a time when the constant noise and haste of everyday life sends many in search of stillness and well-being, it may be surprising to find an approach to yoga written by a busy scientist. Here is a unique contribution to our scientific understanding of how yoga works on the mind and body. Mind Control Through Breath Regulation can be used at many levels. Students and practitioners will find a delightfully illustrated guide to yoga exercises, and general hints on living healthily. Experienced practitioners can further their understanding and ways of developing the disciplined use of the breath. Those interested in science will find a fascinating study of the way neurones, electrical impulses and quantum energy are instilised in yoga practice to achieve high physical and mental potential. As an engineer who has practiced yoga for over forty years, Nguyen Tran has broken new ground by using quantum physics to explain the body's response to yoga. When Nguyen asked me to look at his work-in-progress, I offered to question, clarify, and help shape the expression of his ideas. Over time I have enjoyed the unfolding of his scientific approach to Yoga. His passion as a scientist and yoga practitioner, his story-telling, and his creative illustrations offer a unique contribution to curious practitioners and teachers of Yoga. - Christine Ingleton BA, DipEd, BEd, MEd" "The book Mind Control through Breath Regulation contains amusing humanistic and touching stories and a new powerful form of yoga, which makes reading enjoyable and compelling. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/yourbestlifestyles/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/yourbestlifestyles/support

Aloha friends and foodies, and welcome back. Today I'm interviewing Nguyen Tran, one half of the duo behind Starry Kitchen, a restaurant and brand that was started in Nguyen's small North Hollywood apartment. Originally, it was a way to earn some money after Thi, Nguyen's wife, lost her job in the big economic crash of 2008. After realizing they had an underground hit on their hands, the two operated from their apartment for eight months before finally moving to a legit restaurant site. Since starting the restaurant, Nguyen and Thi have become part of L.A.'s food culture scene and Los Angeles Food Galore. Just a few years ago, they started Button Mash, the next iteration of Starry Kitchen, and Nguyen has also been a frequent guest to shows on the Cooking Channel. In this episode, we talk about Nguyen’s fascinating journey from underground restauranteur to a key member of the LA food culture, delicious Vietnamese cuisine that you can make at home, and the tip to giving amazing parties. Southern Fried Asian wraps up our special food month with a conversation between Keith and Starry Kitchen co-founder Nguyen Tran! Nguyen talks about growing up in the suburbs of Dallas (4:00), why he would pretend to be Wonder Woman when the other kids bullied him (8:00), and dealing with different Asian stereotypes (11:00). Then, they go into an extended discussion about how rejecting than embracing Vietnamese food contributed to his identity (15:00), whether there is such a thing as cultural authenticity when it comes to food (23:00), and the origin of Starry Kitchen (33:00). Finally, Nguyen explains how his and his wife's Texas roots inform their food (44:00) and must choose between In-N-Out and Whataburger (47:00). Subscribe to the Southern Fried Asian podcast on iTunes, Google Play, NPR One, and TuneIn Premium! Support Hard NOC Media on Patreon. Our official theme music is the song "Top Down" by Chops, Timothy Flu, and Mic Barz. Southern Fried Asian is produced by Keith Chow and Jes Vu.
Restaurant owner and recent author of "The Adventures of Starry Kitchen", Nguyen Tran, talks about his entrepreneurial path, which started with an illegal, underground restaurant in his North Hollywood apartment, which quickly became the #1 Asian fusion restaurant in L.A. on yelp, but was shut down by the health department. This failure inspired him to persevere and go on to open the very successful Starry Kitchen and Button Mash Restaurant in Los Angeles. Nguyen talks with honesty and humor how his upbringing taught him to dispute the notion that failure doesn't happen to winners and that completion is more important than success. His entrepreneurial spirit is both inspiring and entertaining. Learn more about Nguyen at: www.starrykitchen.com www.theotherfwordpodcast.com

This podcast has been a long time in the making - I've done countless blogs, videos, and social media posts with Nguyen, but this is the first time I had a chance to really spend a good chunk of time (an hour!) talking to him. In this episode, we go into the history of Starry Kitchen's various restaurant incarnations, and talk about the cookbook, which just came out (get the Spicy Korean Noodle dish). Nguyen also shares his history with Vietnamese food, how he became friends with his childhood bully, why smiling changed his life, what it's like being married to SK Ninja Chef Thi Tran, Funemployment, and the history of the infamous banana suit. Theme music is by Podcast Guest Goh Nakamura. Keep in touch via Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook @mslynnchen. xo Lynn

Ep. 166 - Hear us podcast live at the East Side Food Fest this past weekend with special guests Noelle Scaggs from Fitz & the Tantrums, DJ Them Jeans (aka Jason Stewart), Chef Zach Pollack from Alimento in Los Angeles, and Nguyen Tran from Starry Kitchen. We talk about Starry Kitchen's journey from an illegal take out spot in a North Hollywood apartment to their latest iteration inside an Echo Park "Bar-cade". Zach Pollack goes off on Yelpers (especially the ones that bitch about his restaurant's water charge), and Noelle tells us some her favorite places to eat near where she grew up. And Jason tries to pry the secret to making a perfect chicken liver mousse out of Chef Pollack (with a very tiny degree of success.)
