Buried. Sealed. Denied. Veteran crash-retrieval investigator Ryan S. Wood joins Richard Syrett to trace decades of leaked documents, witness testimony, and multinational recovery operations pointing to objects not made by human hands. Is this revelation genuine disclosure, strategic psy-op, or the first crack in a planetary cover-up? If something too large to transport crashed, where did they hide it today. GUEST: Ryan S. Wood is one of the world's leading investigators of UFO crash-retrieval evidence and classified disclosure-era documents. A systems engineer and longtime aerospace researcher, he has spent decades assembling and analyzing thousands of pages of leaked memoranda, witness testimony, and technical reports pointing to a covert, multinational effort to recover and study non-human technology. Through projects like MajesticDocuments.com and UFOdex, Wood has become a central archivist of the hidden history behind alleged retrieval programs—and a relentless seeker of what governments may know, and conceal. 2026 has seen US tech giants throwing enough capex at AI infrastructure to fund a small country. Amazon has guided capex that is roughly half of South Africa's entire GDP! But with fracture lines appearing in the AI landscape, is the ROI really justifiable? And if not, will Big Tech even feel it, or will someone else be left to foot the bill? In this episode of Magic Markets, The Finance Ghost and Mohammed Nalla explore the dangerous games that giants like Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft are playing, exhausting their free cash flow on data centres and AI projects with a potential half-life of an overripe avocado. Alphabet is borrowing money from a hundred years down the line. Is that the sign of the top? And if not, then what is? Today's Topics: A reminder of the US railroad bubble and how AI stacks up in comparison The market is punishing Microsoft and Amazon for deteriorating free cash flow margins The disruption to the valuation of the SaaS giants like Adobe and Salesforce  Free cash flow margins across various Big Tech names and how this has changed over time  Are the hyperscalers too big to fail, or could things go that badly? Host Victor opens by previewing the podcast's current coverage: HBO's Industry (focus of this episode), The Pitt on HBO Max, Apple TV+'s Drops of God, and a Christopher Nolan rewatch ahead of The Odyssey (with upcoming discussion of Insomnia). He also mentions upcoming premieres including Paradise, which remains the podcast's most popular show. mailto:needssomeintroduction@gmail.com Victor calls Industry's episode “Dear Henry” an elite, event-packed installment that feels like a season finale while resolving little. He follows up on last week's revelation that Tender is effectively a Ponzi scheme by outlining real-world analogs: the FTX collapse (FTX/Alameda circular self-inflation via the FTT token), Germany's Wirecard fraud (manufactured transactions, overpaying for acquisitions, auditors' failures, and political/regulatory protection including actions against Financial Times reporting), and Theranos as a charisma-driven deception. He also notes money-laundering examples involving Ghana and argues the show's broader theme is the emptiness of a culture fixated on wealth, valuation, and belief-driven “truth,” raising questions about how much corporate value is overstated and whether society celebrates con men. Joined by Darren, they first discuss the Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (episodes 1–5), praising its intimacy, sets, humor, acting, and a brutal recent battle episode, and noting its short season and fast production cadence. They then break down “Dear Henry”: Harper warns Yasmin that she and Henry were duped by Whitney, and while Yasmin reacts defensively, the warning sinks in. Whitney's unsettling dynamic with Henry escalates (including a bathroom/shower moment and later clubbing), while Henry grows suspicious about Tender's audit and Whitney's manipulation. Sweetpea's public takedown presentation at an Alpha conference drives Tender's stock down sharply and impresses Eric, who watches with pride. In Ghana, a planned whistleblower meeting is disrupted when Whitney arrives first and intimidates the potential source (Tony), reinforcing fears of more dangerous forces behind Tender. Later, Whitney is revealed to be using a fabricated identity (a Lithuanian passport is shown) and a conversation indicates Russian-linked backers are laundering money through Tender, trapping Whitney and raising the stakes for everyone. They discuss Whitney's use of high-end escorts as tools for access and influence; Hayley confirms she and others were planted around key figures and that sex acts were recorded, confronting Yasmin with how they were exploited. Eric receives a compromising video involving an underage girl (“Dolly”) while with his daughter, but still appears on TV to push for a new audit, warning Whitney not to corner him and implying he could expose Whitney. Henry fires an auditor and tries to assert control as CEO, while Whitney continues drafting a “Dear Henry” letter about a “hole in the bucket,” revealed as a cash-flow/shortfall problem. The episode culminates in Eric meeting Harper with a lawyer present; he asks only for his original investment back to be put in trusts for his daughters if the short pays off, suggesting he may be planning to exit entirely. Eric admits he felt genuine pride watching Sweetpea, more than he expected he could feel, and the final image of him walking alone fuels Victor and Darren's concern about possible suicide or at least Eric's departure from the show. They close by anticipating two remaining Industry episodes, the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms finale, and the upcoming launch of Paradise, while noting Darren will be traveling and will catch up later. 00:00 Welcome & What We're Covering This Week (Industry, The Pit, Drops of God, Nolan Rewatch) 02:36 Why This Week's Industry Episode ‘Dear Henry' Feels Like a Finale 03:20 Tender as a Ponzi: Looking for Real-World Analogs 05:24 FTX Explained: The Circular Token House of Cards 10:27 Wirecard: The Closer European Parallel (Fraud, Audits, Politics) 18:26 More Scams & Money Laundering Threads: Theranos, Ghana, and Beyond 19:59 What Industry Is Really Saying: The Emptiness of Wealth Culture 23:49 Darren Joins: Quick Detour Into the New GoT Prequel ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' 39:41 Back to Industry: First Impressions, Then Scene-by-Scene Breakdown Begins (Yasmin & Harper) 42:46 Yasmin vs. Harper: Self-Made Power vs. Riding Coattails 43:32 Trailer Talk: Are Harper & Yasmin Two Sides of the Same Coin? 45:48 Whitney's Shower Ambush & the ‘Hole in the Bucket' Letter 49:44 Boarding School ‘Experimentation' and Henry's Growing Suspicion 52:12 Whitney's Intimate Manipulation: Touch, Jealousy, and Control 57:03 Political Satire + Real-World Scam Parallels (FTX, Wirecard, Theranos) 01:01:35 ‘Too Big to Fail' Lies: Can a Fake World Hold Together? 01:03:06 Clubbing, Relapse Energy, and Henry's Night Spirals 01:05:53 Was Jim's Overdose a Setup? Brutalligators started in late 2016 when Paul and Luke met for a coffee and discovered a mutual love of 90s and 00s emo and hardcore. Having been in various hardcore and emo bands throughout the 00s and 10s, they decided to try and write some songs together and Brutalligators was born. Simo and Rhys joined soon after, before they debuted at The Good Ship in Kilburn in 2017. They self-released their first EP Animals I Wish I'd Seen in 2017, following with the second EP Friends I Wish I'd Had in 2019 via Real Ghost Records. Their debut album This House is Too Big, This House is Too Small was released in 2021 on Beth Shalom Records, which Noizze commented that the album “presents the band in their greatest, most intimate and most cathartic form.” Since releasing This House is Too Big… Brutalligators have been tearing up stages across the UK and Europe, supporting bands such as Fresh, Michael Cera Palin, Dikembe, Johnny Foreigner and Martha.  Thanks for listening!!! When President Donald Trump began his tariff rollout, the business world predicted that his unprecedented attempt to reshape the economy would lead to a major recession, if Trump went through with it all. But the markets stabilized and, in recent months, have continued to surge. That has some people worried about an even bigger threat: that overinvestment in artificial intelligence is creating a bubble. Andrew Ross Sorkin, one of today's preëminent financial journalists, is well versed in what's happening; his début book, “Too Big to Fail,” was an account of the 2008 financial crash, and this year he released “1929: Inside the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History—and How It Shattered a Nation.” He tells David Remnick that the concern lies in the massive borrowing to build the infrastructure for a future A.I. economy, without the sufficient revenue, currently, to pay off the loans. “If I learned anything from covering 1929, [and] covering 2008, it is leverage,” Sorkin says, “people borrowing to make all of this happen. And right now we are beginning to see a remarkable period of borrowing to make the economics of A.I. work.” Sorkin is the co-anchor of “Squawk Box” on CNBC, and he also founded the New York Times' business section, DealBook. Please help us improve New Yorker podcasts by filling out our listener survey: https://panel2058.na2.panelpulse.com/c/a/661hs4tSRdw2yB2dvjFyyw Learn about your ad choices: dovetail.prx.org/ad-choices

With the growth of a 19th-century style state power, America is trying to become the new China. Meanwhile, as Keith Teare notes in his latest That Was The Week newsletter, China is the new America in its embrace of technological innovation, particularly its trebling down on clean energy. That's why the “Too Big To Fail” debate about OpenAI is so heavily laced in irony. It's not just Sam Altman's chutzpah in trying to simultaneously become the punter and the house in his multi-trillion-dollar bet on ChatGPT. But it might actually reflect the new realities of second-quarter 21st-century America. We've been wondering for a while now what comes after neo-liberalism. In a neologism: enstatification. * China Has Already Won the Clean Energy Race—And That Changes Everything Keith Teare confirms what The Economist reported: China's clean energy capacity dwarfs America's by a decade or more. This isn't just about being green—it's about controlling the energy infrastructure that AI requires. China is becoming the 21st century's combination of America and Saudi Arabia.* Jensen Huang's Verdict: China Will Win the AI Race Because It Deregulates While America Bureaucratizes The NVIDIA CEO's provocative claim isn't just marketing—it reflects a real competitive advantage. While four Democratic states pursue AI regulation at the state level, Beijing is loosening regulations and slashing energy costs for data centers. Democracy's decentralization may be its Achilles heel in rapid technological competition.* OpenAI's “Too Big to Fail” Status Reveals the New Age of Enstatification Despite David Sacks' denials, OpenAI's strategic importance means it effectively cannot be allowed to fail—not because of systemic financial risk like 2008, but because of national competitiveness concerns. This isn't neoliberalism anymore; it's America's version of state capitalism.* The Real Convergence Isn't US vs China—It's Both Nations Embracing State-Directed Economies Trump's Intel investment, Sacks and Andreessen's push for centralized AI policy, and China's directed innovation represent a global trend toward what Keith calls state involvement in “procuring and distributing wealth.” Alibaba and Google, Huawei and NVIDIA—they're becoming more alike than different.* Keith Teare's Optimism: “Everyone Will Win” in the AI Economy—But Some Pigs Are More Equal: Keith argues this isn't a zero-sum race with winners and losers, but a rising tide lifting all boats through reciprocity. America and China will both capture massive value from AI's potential $26 trillion GDP boost by 2035. I remain skeptical: history suggests great power competitions don't end in shared prosperity.Keen On America is a reader-supported publication. Through the lens of “normal accident theory,” Dr. Janel examines the complexity and tight coupling of massive technological systems and asks when scale becomes a liability rather than an advantage. As the founder of the Red Pill Expo, he continues to challenge official narratives while connecting the dots between the rise of the Federal Reserve, the spread of collectivist and communistic ideology, and the steady erosion of individual rights — all while calling for a return to liberty, free markets, and personal sovereignty. In this wide-ranging conversation, Faust and Mr. Griffin trace the secret history of money, the banking elite's grip on economic power, and the psychological warfare used to keep populations compliant. They break down the clash between collectivism and individualism, the dangers of fiat currency and a cashless society, and why education and grassroots action are essential to reclaim freedom in a system built for control. In this episode:

If you've noticed an increase in the use of the word “toxic” in relation to human behavior in recent years, you'd be right. Its use has become so prevalent, that Oxford Dictionaries named "toxic" as their Word of the Year in 2018. Oxford noted a 45% increase in lookups for the word on their website and observed its expanded usage beyond its literal meaning to describe various social and political issues.Of course, it's tempting to look for causes and attempt to fix them at the source. The rise in the use of social media, for example, has undoubtedly contributed to this increase, so we might be tempted to control toxicity there.Thom proposes a radically different cause in this episode, backing it up with a solution that puts us in control of potentially toxic behavior around us, rather than being at the mercy of it.Episode Highlights[00:45] Toxophilus - Poisoned Arrows[02:56] Source of All, Course of All, Goal of All[05:14] Too Big to Be Made Toxic[07:58] The Capacity to Be Toxified[09:21] Robust and Resilient[12:25] Overloads of Experience[14:19] Premature Cognitive Commitments[16:06] Unprecedented Rest Through Vedic Meditation[18:56] A Net Position of Structural Integrity[20:10] Attain to Personal InvincibilityUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoleshttps://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/

Enjoy this episode? Please share it with at least ONE friend who you think needs to hear it! In this episode, we dive deep into the history and controversies surrounding HIV/AIDS with filmmaker and researcher Michael Wallach. Michael is the director of the documentary series The Viral Delusion, which critically examines the narratives surrounding viruses and challenges conventional virology. Episode Highlights: Re-examining the Foundation: Michael discusses the importance of questioning the foundational assumptions of virology rather than just critiquing the built-up narratives around viruses like HIV and COVID-19. Journey to Terrain Theory: He shares the path that led him to explore terrain theory, a concept that shifts the focus from viruses as the cause of illness to the overall environment and health of the body. Creating The Viral Delusion: Learn about Michael's process in assembling the documentary series, including the influences from the AIDS dissidence movement and his thoughts on the COVID-19 response and historical vaccine narratives. HIV/AIDS Narrative: Michael dives into the controversial claim that HIV does not cause AIDS, presenting arguments and insights from leading thinkers who have challenged the mainstream story. The Reality of AZT: The conversation explores the history of AZT, a drug once marketed as the primary treatment for HIV/AIDS, and how it was pushed despite its toxic effects. Michael highlights the existence of alternative treatments that were overshadowed by AZT. Unreleased Insights: Michael shares additional findings and insights that didn't make it into his documentary, providing a more complete picture of the perspectives on HIV/AIDS. The Expanding Symptom Lists: Discussion around how the symptoms associated with various so-called viruses continue to grow, raising questions about the criteria used for diagnosis and classifications in virology. About Michael Wallach: Michael Wallach is the director of the acclaimed five-part documentary series, The Viral Delusion, which can be watched at theviraldelusion.com. Described as “groundbreaking” and “immensely important” by leading medical voices like Tom Cowan, Dr. John Bevan-Smith, and Dr. Sam Bailey, the series challenges long-standing assumptions about viruses. Michael is a husband, father, screenwriter, and holds degrees in Philosophy from Cornell and an MA from Columbia University.
