Dr. Tina Tran brings more than 20 years of experience in veterinary practice, education and leadership. Her career includes work in small animal private practice, shelter medicine and academic leadership roles at Portland Community College, Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine, where she served as founding faculty and clinical relations lead veterinarian. Most recently, Tina is founding dean of the proposed veterinary school at Hanover College in Indiana. Tina is widely recognized for her contributions to veterinary education and her commitment to creating learning environments where all students feel supported and empowered to succeed. Outside of work, Tina likes cooking, traveling, and taking care of her many houseplants. In episode 647 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out why she chose UC Davis for her undergraduate experience, what made her want to join Kappa Alpha Theta, how the sorority helped to prepare her for the realities of veterinary school and leadership roles, why you don't have to "choose" between Greek life and a demanding career like medicine, the pressure she felt growing up as a first-generation Filipino-American student, what role mentors played in her journey, how student organizations—especially fraternities and sororities—can be better allies for diversity and inclusion, how she protects her mental health, what animals taught her about leadership and empathy, how working in animal welfare shaped her worldview, and what should students be doing now if they want careers in medicine. Enjoy!

In this episode, host Emma Sellers, MS, sits down with Afsoon Moktar, PhD, MSc, EMBA, BSN, BHS, CT (ASCP), professor in the Physician Assistant Program at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and Minh Tran, MPAS, PA-C, an emergency medicine PA at Newton-Wellesley, to explore their experiences in the Future Educator Fellowship. Dr. Moktar reflects on mentoring the next generation of clinician educators and explains how the fellowship's structure, support, and sense of community make an academic career feel both accessible and sustainable. Tran shares how the program broadened her understanding of PA education beyond the classroom, introducing her to curriculum design, assessment, accreditation, leadership, and intentional mentorship. She also discusses the shift from being clinically proficient to learning how to teach with clarity and purpose. Together, they examine the intensity of PA training, the many responsibilities faculty members carry, and the evolving landscape of recruiting and supporting educators. They offer practical advice for aspiring faculty: begin teaching before you feel fully ready, seek strong mentors, build community to prevent burnout, and remain curious as you grow. #691: Your IQ used to be your biggest career asset. Then AI scored in the 99th percentile on the LSAT, the SAT, and the MCAT — and suddenly the cognitive skills that once set you apart became something anyone can access for free. Executive coach Liz Tran joins us to talk about what actually drives career success and earning power now. Her answer: AQ, or agility quotient — your capacity to handle change, learn new skills fast, and keep moving when your industry shifts beneath you. The personal finance implications are real. The average half-life of a technical skill is five years. In tech, it's closer to two. That means the expertise you spent years building — and the salary that came with it — can become obsolete faster than a mortgage term. Tran argues the people who protect their earning power long-term aren't necessarily the most credentialed. They're the ones who can unlearn old ways and adapt quickly. We walk through her four AQ archetypes — the neurosurgeon, the astronaut, the firefighter, and the novelist — each with a different default approach to change. Knowing your type helps you understand where you might freeze up during a career pivot, a market downturn, or a high-stakes financial decision. Tran points out that analysis paralysis, something many real estate investors and career changers know well, often comes down to archetype — and there are practical fixes. We also cover her ABCD framework — anchors, bets, classroom, and discomfort — which maps out how to stay functional and decisive during volatile periods. And we get into the six thinking hats theory, specifically how pairing black-hat (downside) thinking with green-hat (future-focused) thinking can sharpen any major financial or career decision. In this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Liam Garman sits down with Kev Tran from Kev Tran Group to discuss how Millennial and Gen Z investors can navigate the Victorian property market. Tran said that despite softer rental trends, Victoria offers strong opportunities for those who research at the suburb and street level. He highlights population growth in Melbourne and regional hubs like Geelong and Ballarat as drivers of long-term housing demand. Construction undersupply and tight rental vacancies signal a resilient market, creating opportunities for strategic investors. Tran advises adopting a borderless approach by exploring interstate and regional markets to diversify portfolios. He also emphasises the importance of growing income, leveraging data, and using expert advice to enhance investment potential. Strategies such as rentvesting and prioritising high-quality assets can help young investors build sustainable wealth. Liz Tran, former venture capital executive and author of AQ, examines why agility—not raw intelligence or experience—has become the defining capability for leaders operating amid persistent uncertainty. She introduces Agility Quotient (AQ) as the capacity to adapt thinking, identity, and decision-making when familiar structures no longer apply. Tran explains how traditional markers of success, from credentials to past wins, can quietly become liabilities when environments shift. She describes how the pandemic, rapid AI adoption, and labor volatility exposed a gap between competence in stable conditions and effectiveness under change. Agility, in her view, is not a personality trait but a practiced discipline. Key insights from the discussion include: Why leaders who anchor identity too tightly to past success struggle most when conditions change, and how agility begins with loosening that attachment. How burnout often reflects a loss of agency rather than excessive workload, and why articulating a future-facing personal strategy restores momentum. What recent layoff patterns reveal about how organizations are selecting for adaptability rather than tenure or historical performance. How a shift from a "know-it-all" posture to a "learn-it-all" posture improves judgment, learning speed, and organizational resilience. Why confidence is built through repeated cycles of disruption and recovery, not through mastery alone. How leaders can use AI as leverage without eroding core human capabilities such as critical thinking, synthesis, and judgment. Tran also reflects on how early beliefs shape leadership behavior long after circumstances change, and why agility requires examining those assumptions rather than optimizing around them. She argues that reinvention is not episodic but continuous, and that career durability now depends on the ability to operate without fixed reference points. This episode offers a practical framework for executives seeking relevance and steadiness in volatile environments, positioning agility quotient as a core leadership capability for the next decade. In this episode, Ophira Eisenberg reconnects with author, dad, and tattoo artist Phuc Tran for a conversation that zigzags from Star Wars as a childhood lifeline to parenting philosophies shaped by motorcycles, rotary phones, and letting kids touch the metaphorical hot pipe. Tran talks about growing up Vietnamese in a town where missing one TV network meant missing cultural shorthand, and how Star Wars became a rare common language that let him belong, a feeling he's intentionally recreating with his own daughters by showing them the films before they develop a critical eye. They get into raising kids amid microlabeling culture, with Tran explaining why he wrote “labels are for jars” on the family chalkboard, as well as his years teaching Latin, Greek, and German, arguing that Latin slows kids down in a way modern life rarely does. The conversation moves easily between creative work and parenting ethics, from why he stopped talking tattoo clients out of bad ideas after becoming a parent to how children's books often serve adult anxieties more than kids' curiosity. Throughout, Tran frames creativity as something lived rather than branded—whether it's daughters trading sketchbooks at restaurants instead of phones, apprenticing at the tattoo shop, or his own belief that punk rock shouldn't be a lifelong personality—before landing on the story of calmly watching his toddler pick herself up in public while a stranger yelled, a moment that neatly captures his faith in letting kids learn by standing back.

Guided by Allison, her longtime mentor who believed in her potential long before Elizabeth fully believed in herself, the conversation explores how mentorship, alignment, and self-trust accelerated her path forward. The discussion highlights the power of personal branding, why confidence is built through action rather than perfection, and how a well-crafted website can reflect achievements many women forget to celebrate. Ophira Eisenberg sits down with author, tattoo artist, and Maine-based dad Phuc Tran for a wide-ranging, grounded conversation that moves from frantic school drop-offs and topping off windshield wiper fluid before a storm to the deeper anxieties of becoming a parent after trauma, bullying, and immigration. Tran talks candidly about growing up as a Vietnamese refugee in small-town America, finding safety in classrooms when home wasn't safe, and how punk rock, tattoos, and books became both armor and language. The two bond over raising kids while making creative work that pays unevenly, advocating half-jokingly for plumbing and electrical careers, and embracing Maine's culture of the multi-hyphenate as a survival skill rather than a branding exercise He also reflects on fearing he'd be a bad father, how therapy reframed imperfection as necessary, and why parenting teenage daughters now feels like his area of expertise after decades teaching middle and high school. They also get into luck versus merit in publishing, how his memoir Sigh, Gone led—almost accidentally—to a bestselling children's book series about big feelings, and why emotional batteries, not discipline charts, determine household peace. The episode circles back to physical objects as emotional anchors, landing on Tran's red rotary phone—kept for Maine power outages and the unmatched satisfaction of slamming down a receiver when a conversation is truly over.

"The Making of the John Batchelor Show" is a live-streaming "beta" experiment launched by John Batchelor on Monday, January 12, 2026. The primary objective of this specific program is to demonstrate "total transparency" by allowing the audience to see the behind-the-scenes process and technical "bumps" involved in producing the show.According to the sources, this format provides several unique insights into the show's production: Live Recording for Radio: While the stream is broadcast live, Batchelor and his guests record specific segments that are later lined up for the standard radio audience in the evening. Technical Troubleshooting: The stream captures the raw interactions between Batchelor and his producer, Chris Noel, as they manage software like StreamYard, troubleshoot audio issues with guests, and coordinate the timing of the "go live" countdown. Real-Time Coordination: The sources show Batchelor and co-host Bill Roggio managing the schedule in real-time, such as texting guests like Jonathan Seiya to arrange interview slots between other segments like "New World". A "Maiden Voyage": Batchelor describes this weekday streaming effort as a "maiden voyage" and a way to jump into the "pool" of new technology, even when they are not entirely confident in the tools. Expert Integration: The format allows for casual introductions and pre-interviews between experts, such as when Batchelor introduced David Shedd to Bill Roggio before they began a formal recorded segment on China's cyber-espionage. Throughout the broadcast, the experts used this transparent platform to analyze an "unprecedented" period of global instability. They covered a wide array of topics, including the news blackout in Iran, the "fiction" of U.S. strikes in Syria, and the shift toward center-right governments in Latin America following the removal of Nicolas Maduro. In essence, "The Making of the John Batchelor Show" functions like a "glass-walled studio," where the audience observes both the polished geopolitical analysis and the unscripted logistical efforts required to bring that analysis to the airwaves.1850 SUBURB OF TEHRAN

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show kicked off with jaw-dropping international news: the U.S. launched a major military strike in Venezuela and successfully captured President Nicolás Maduro along with his wife early on January 3. The operation, dubbed “Absolute Resolve,” involved over 150 U.S. aircraft and special forces, targeting multiple military sites before evacuating Maduro to New York to face narcotics charges. Freedom does not come from one big win. It comes from knowing your bills are paid whether you show up or not. Brian Tran learned that lesson early. Raised in an immigrant family that came to this country with nothing, he watched his parents work nonstop just to survive. Hard work was never the issue. Stability was. That experience shaped how Brian thought about money, risk, and what real security actually means. Instead of chasing fast wins, Brian focused on building cash flowing rental properties first. Not to get rich overnight, but to create breathing room. Monthly income that showed up consistently became the foundation that allowed him to take bigger swings later without putting his family or future at risk. In this episode, Brian breaks down how rental properties became the engine behind everything he built. From flipping homes to scaling multiple businesses, those steady checks gave him confidence, leverage, and optionality most people never experience. When things worked, he scaled. When things did not, his life did not collapse. We also unpack how he invested out of state from high cost markets, why cash flow matters more than hype, and how stable income completely changes how you approach risk, growth, and opportunity. This episode is not about shortcuts. It is about building a base so strong that you can bet on yourself without fear. If you want wealth that supports your life instead of controlling it, this conversation will change how you think about money and real estate. Book your mentorship discovery call with Cory RESOURCES
