Reign of Christ Sunday, or sometimes called Christ the King Sunday, ends the liturgical year. It asks who is ultimately in charge and worth worshipping. But to know that God is in charge and to act like it is much easier said than done. Jonathan and Seth discuss the challenge of the phrase, "Be still, and know that I am God!"  (Psalm 46:10) and what a faithful stillness might look like in our hurried, news-flooded world. 11/16/2025 The millennial kingdom is the future reign of Jesus Christ on earth as He sits on David's throne in Jerusalem. Everyone who enters that kingdom will be redeemed by God and therefore righteous (see Isaiah 35:8–10). Among those redeemed will be two distinct groups of people: those with glorified physical bodies and those with natural, earthly bodies. Those who occupy the millennial kingdom with glorified bodies can be divided into three subgroups: the church, whose bodies were either resurrected or changed at the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; 1 Corinthians 15:21–23, 51–53); tribulation martyrs, who are resurrected after Christ returns to earth (Revelation 20:4–6); and the Old Testament saints, who we assume are resurrected at the same time (see Daniel 12:2). Those who occupy the kingdom with earthly bodies have survived the tribulation and can be subdivided into two groups: believing Gentiles and believing Jews.

Revelation 20 reveals the golden age of Jesus Christ ruling and reigning on a restored Earth for 1,000 years. In the Millennium, believers will experience unprecedented joy, peace, prosperity, and justice, while ruling alongside King Jesus in glorified bodies that never ache, with hearts that never break. And as for Satan, he is finally defeated forever! The Millennium is truly heaven on earth– the ultimate hope every believer has been waiting for!

Today we're going to dive into one of the most fascinating and hope filled promises in all of Scripture, and that is the millennial reign of Christ and its connection to the Davidic Covenant. For centuries, God's people have looked forward to the day when the Son of David will sit on the throne in Jerusalem and rule with justice and righteousness over all the earth. From II Samuel to Revelation, the Bible paints a picture of a literal kingdom where Christ fulfills his promise to Israel and demonstrates God's faithfulness. But what does the rain look like? While this episode was recorded before the 2024 United States Presidential Election on November 6th, the question of who will ultimately be in charge remains relevant. Frankly, it feels even more relevant to me (Seth, here) because the election of Donald Trump to a second, nonconsecutive term means the potential removal of many protections for vulnerable people. Jonathan and Seth, however, find hope in God, who will reign forever, who isn't swayed by changing political winds, who never has to worry about having "a mandate," who cares for the vulnerable's plight. We hope this episode is ultimately hopeful.  We're glad you're with us! No matter who the president is, we will continue producing podcasts because Christ still reigns. There are more theological questions to be asked. And there is more love needed in the world.
