Welcome Friends and thank you for connecting with us for another wonderful episode of CWC! Today, Donna had the chance to talk with Posey Hill. Three-time Arkansas Country Music Awards Nominee (2018, 2022, 2024), Posey Hill is a regional touring Alt-country/Americana group from Central Arkansas. Doug Burnett grew up in Arkansas in the late 70's-80's, playing in bands that covered rock, top 40, country and bluegrass before becoming a dad to Kristian, Erin and Megan. The girls grew up listening to him write music on his old '54 Gibson so it was only a natural progression that they would follow suit. Starting out as a bluegrass band, Posey Hill has played places like Silver Dollar City in Missouri, Rockygrass in Colorado, Leander Bluegrass Festival in Texas and countless venues around Arkansas. Exploring their original music led them to a broader scope of sound, pulling from the rock, country and blues Doug raised the girls on. A valuable part of their musical upbringing was their exposure to some of the best female singer/songwriter influences: Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, and more. They are currently inspired by Americana/Alt-country/Red Dirt acts such as Tyler Childers, Turnpike Troubadours, The High Women, Red Clay Strays and more. In 2021, the group went to The Doghouse Studios in Nashville, TN to begin recording their first all-original album. Released in August 2023, No Clear Place to Fall received global recognition from important critics such as UK's Alan Cackett and Saving Country Music's Trigger; making SCM's Essential Albums of 2023 list. Their singles “Keeping Tyler”, “I'm Too Old for This” and “Send Him My Love” have received airplay all around Arkansas and various national internet radio stations and streaming playlists. Their live shows mix a variety of originals, old country, 70's rock, folk, Bluegrass and R&B; appealing to a wide audience For more on Posey Hill check out https://poseyhillmusic.com/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/crazywomencountry/support

This is her fiddle pedagogy in a nutshell. She began teaching students of all ages in 1994, many of whom have gone on to become National and state fiddle champions themselves. The Fiddle School "Fiddle From Home" program has been an incredible outlet for fiddlers of all levels throughout the pandemic. Tulsa native Isaac Eicher grew up in a musical household and started playing the mandolin at 9 years old. He inherited a multifarious taste of music from his parents, who are both well-accomplished artists- violinist Shelby Eicher and vocalist Janet Rutland. Eicher's parents played all styles of music including jazz, bluegrass and western swing, in their home as he was growing up. In his teen years, Eicher evolved into an extraordinary musician and began to compete on a national level, winning first place prizes at the Walnut Valley Mandolin Championship in 2006 and Rockygrass in 2010. After graduating high school in 2009, Eicher's musical journey took a very interesting turn. He enrolled in the University of Oklahoma, and developed a new interest: language arts. Eicher became enamored with the Spanish language and learned it very quickly. To further his studies, he went abroad to Valencia, Spain, to immerse himself fully in the culture. With mandolin in tow, Eicher’s musical style became greatly impacted by the pursuit of learning Spanish. He began to incorporate world music styles like gypsy swing, Brazilian samba, and Cuban montunos to his already strong foundation in jazz and bluegrass music.
