Episode #024 Shannyn Caldwell – When I was introduced to Shannyn Caldwell we learned we were going to be working together about a half-hour before going live on air on my radio show Sound Behavior where we were broadcasting on WLQV in Detroit. We immediately connected but she was my anchor, watching her expressions and her hand signals through the glass window which separated the production and the sound booth created an exceptional experience. She was awesome. Week-after-week our guests kept impacting our conversations and the show was doing really well... we kept discussing if only we could find a connection for national syndication? At the time one of the biggest shows on TV was "Frasier" where Frasier hosts The Dr. Frasier Crane Show, a call-in psychiatry show on KACL talk radio with his producer Roz Doyle. Off the cuff on air I called Shannyn "Roz" and it stuck. Our listeners and guests alike loved it and we were having fun producing Sound Behavior. The year was 2007 and here we are asking ourselves where have these thirteen years gone? Today, she host's her own radio show - Middays with Shannyn Caldwell on Family Life Radio and is the author of the best selling book, The Healing Season. I'm honored to introduce and reconnect with my dear friend Shannyn Caldwell. Please listen, enjoy and share this episode with your friends and family... and you can click here to buy Shannyn's book!

TVC 500.4: Ed welcomes Peri Gilpin, the award-winning actress known around the world as acerbic radio producer Roz Doyle on Frasier (NBC, 1993-2004). Peri currently stars as a Hollywood agent who eagerly takes on a client in his eighties—only to cast him in a host of less than dignified roles—in Old Guy, the critically acclaimed six-episode short form comedy series that takes a satiric look at how the film and TV industry often portrays older people, particularly those in their seventies and eighties. All six episodes of Old Guy are available for streaming on demand, for free, at OldGuyComedy.com. Old Guy is based on both Don’t Sit Down Yet, a book by Gabrielle Burton about aging, and on the experiences of Gabrielle’s husband, Roger Burton, a retired psychologist and former professional musician who enjoyed a wildly successful third act in his seventies and eighties as a film and TV actor. With that in mind, the creators and producers of Old Guy—Gabrielle and Roger’s daughters Ursula Burton, Jennifer Burton, Maria Burton, Gabrielle Burton, and Charity Burton—also join Peri and Ed to discuss how the series uses both sharp wit and broad humor to address and comment on the ongoing issue of ageism. In what may be considered the greatest spin-off of all-time, Frasier follows the Crane family, more specifically Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar), who moves back home to Seattle after his Cheers shenanigans and starts a new life as a radio talk show therapist. The show was created by David Angell, Peter Casey, and David and Lee was nominated for 272 awards and won 130 of them, 3 of them being Golden Globes. A lot of that success is to do with Kelsey Grammar. And a lot of that has to do with Kelsey Grammar’s voice. Joan dives into why his voice is integral to the show’s success and Frasier Crane’s (lack of) character development. As always, no spoilers!

Yes, say sitcom staples Peri Gilpin and Candace Cameron Bure – and that man is Bob Saget. Interviewed on Mr. Media, Peri, who played Roz Doyle on Frasier, and Candace, who played D.J. Tanner on Full House, roast their pal Bob – who led the Full House cast as widowed dad Danny Tanner – big-time. Discussing her TV alma mater with host Bob Andelman, Candace says: “There’s definitely a place for shows like Full House, where, as parents, we can safely allow our children to watch, and not worry about whether they’ll be exposed to something that isn’t age- appropriate.” That’s when Peri, who co-stars with Candace in the ABC Family series Make It or Break It, jumps in with this zinger: Candace Cameron Bure, Peri Gilpin, actresses, Make It Or Break It, Mr. Media Interviews “Wait a minute. What about Bob Saget?” “Exactly. I grew up with that,” replies Candace. “I grew up wayyyy too fast.” “Are you going to blame everything bad that’s happened to you on Saget?” asks our host. “We’re blaming him for all the dirty jokes in our lives,” says Peri. “All the dirty jokes in America,” adds Candace. “I know Bob because I work out at the gym with him – and Candace was there, too, for a while,” says Peri, before whacking the final nail into the Sagat legacy: “So I know Bob’s little ‘spicy act.’” Peri Gilpin Wikpedia • Twitter C andace Cameron Bure Website • Facebook • Twitter • Pinterest • Order Reshaping It All from Amazon.com WATCH!
