IT'S OLYMPIC (errr) BIG GAME FEVER Y'ALL! While you watch our ladies and gents pommel some horses and uneven some bars, let's half tuck in to the ABC family show Make It Or Break It! Inspired by the 2006 movie Stick It, MIOBI is the brainchild of showrunner Holly Sorensen who wanted to make a drama centering around “The Rock” training center in Colorado. The show features actors Josie Loren, Ayla Kell, and Cassie Scerbo as the big three gymnasts setting their sights on the gold medal, while newcomer Emily Kmetko represents an unforeseen threat to those dreams. Can they gel as a team or will it tear them apart? We also get a television return of former TVPL champion Peri Gilpin (Frasier). Now that you've seen the pilot, will this show make it or break it? A listener named Val sent us a great email full of amazing quotes that guided Amy's chat with Kat for this episode. Val divided them into 2 categories: serious & funny...we appreciate both (they're all listed below) and in addition to the quotes Kat played a round of "Make It Or Break It" with Amy (to see what she's down with when it comes to dating!) SERIOUS: - The tighter we cling to an identity, the harder it becomes to grow beyond it. - I have already lost touch with a couple of people I used to be - You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy. - Buy less, choose well. - We all eat lies when our hearts are hungry - Just because you don't look like somebody who you think is attractive doesn't mean you aren't attractive. Flowers are pretty, but so are Christmas lights and they look nothing alike. - Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married or own a house as if life was some kind of grocery list. But no one ever asks if you are happy. FUNNY: - I've moved past having a depressive episode. I am actually having a depressive series. Season 8 available now. - I'm not a licensed interior designer but I just figured out you can make a room look 30% bigger if you put away the 14 loads of laundry on the floor. - Neighbor said hi again...I'm just gonna move. - Lucky for me, I don't have enough friends for an intervention - I don't understand your specific kind of crazy, but I do admire your total commitment to it. - My room is not dirty. I just have everything on display...like a museum. - Some of you youths are going to be really disappointed when you discover that turning - 30 just means that you still have all the same weird interests but you can't turn your head all the way to the left anymore. - Hey, sorry for being so anxious earlier, I had no idea that everything would be fine. - I keep telling people that a vanilla soy latte is technically a three bean soup, but nobody understands. They just nod and smile like I'M the crazy one. - I found out why I'm still single. Apparently, you have to go outside and let people see you. Ken Hanes (Television Writer/Director/Executive Producer: Midnight, Texas, Rizzoli & Isles, Make It Or Break It) and Nicholas are old friends from their time working together on the USA pilot Eden - but that doesn't keep Nicholas from surprising Ken with his favorite "Gotcha!" question: "What did you have for breakfast this morning?" (Note: Ken passed with flying colors.) Ken, in turn, surprises Nicholas by sharing his upbringing as a Seventh Day Adventist, his entrepreneurial (read: hustling!) spirit as a young man, and the fact that he's still fit enough to play a tough game of basketball weekly. Most affecting, however, are the stories Ken shares about his father's PTSD suffered during the European campaigns of WWII, and his love for his late wife, Mary. Ken pays an emotional tribute to his beloved wife, partner and friend. And as Mary and Nicholas were also friends (Mary co-wrote Eden with Ken), the conversation is full of love, compassion, and deep reflection. It was a true honor to have Ken on the show. Something that knocked my socks on my ass: Ken spent many seasons as an actor on The Bold And The Beautiful!!! Holly Sorensen got her start writing for magazines after a series of odd jobs. At Premiere, she rose to Senior Editor and got what she described as a “graduate course in Hollywood.” She’s best known for her work on teen dramas like ‘Make It Or Break It’ and ‘Recovery Road,’ but she’s recently signed on to be the showrunner for YouTube Red’s first drama, ‘Step Up: High Water,’ loosely based off the ‘Step Up’ dance franchise that began with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum. In this interview, Sorensen describes her advice from William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), the truth about the infamous Hunter S. Thompson letter, and how to write inspirational work for young adults. Stay up-to-date on other creative advice at www.creativeprinciples.live

Yes, say sitcom staples Peri Gilpin and Candace Cameron Bure – and that man is Bob Saget. Interviewed on Mr. Media, Peri, who played Roz Doyle on Frasier, and Candace, who played D.J. Tanner on Full House, roast their pal Bob – who led the Full House cast as widowed dad Danny Tanner – big-time. Discussing her TV alma mater with host Bob Andelman, Candace says: “There’s definitely a place for shows like Full House, where, as parents, we can safely allow our children to watch, and not worry about whether they’ll be exposed to something that isn’t age- appropriate.” That’s when Peri, who co-stars with Candace in the ABC Family series Make It or Break It, jumps in with this zinger: Candace Cameron Bure, Peri Gilpin, actresses, Make It Or Break It, Mr. Media Interviews “Wait a minute. What about Bob Saget?” “Exactly. I grew up with that,” replies Candace. “I grew up wayyyy too fast.” “Are you going to blame everything bad that’s happened to you on Saget?” asks our host. “We’re blaming him for all the dirty jokes in our lives,” says Peri. “All the dirty jokes in America,” adds Candace. “I know Bob because I work out at the gym with him – and Candace was there, too, for a while,” says Peri, before whacking the final nail into the Sagat legacy: “So I know Bob’s little ‘spicy act.’” Peri Gilpin Wikpedia • Twitter C andace Cameron Bure Website • Facebook • Twitter • Pinterest • Order Reshaping It All from Amazon.com WATCH! Ayla Kell from ABC Family's "Make It or Break It" calls in to talk about the new season that begins on Monday, March 26th. Get all the details in addition to fan stories, Twitter, fashion, staying active, ballet and charity work.
Cassie Scerbo stars as Amber Pollock, a conniving queen bee who meets an untimely death just as she is about to win the Prom Queen title, in ABC Family’s two-hour original movie, “Teen Spirit.” Faced with an unpleasant after-life, Amber gets a second chance to make things right if she can accomplish her assigned task -- transforming the least popular girl in school into Prom Queen material. Scerbo currently stars in the ABC Family series “Make It or Break It” as ultra-competitive and talented gymnast Lauren Tanner. She was also recently seen in Universal’s franchise hit “Bring It On: In It to Win It,” where she did all of her own stunts, spending hours perfecting each move. A native of New York, this self proclaimed tomboy moved to Florida where she enjoyed playing soccer, track and other sports. Talented and creative, Scerbo extensively trained in singing, dancing, acting, and won the 2001 Hip-Hop world championship. She caught the acting bug when she saw her older brother doing stand-up, and soon stepped up on the stage and stole the show. She then found a manager and started booking roles right away. Scerbo made her debut in a Ron Gair and Geffen records age-appropriate group called the Slumber Party Girls. The group performed as regulars on CBS’s “Dance Revolution” with such hit songs as “Countdown,” “My Life” and the “Texting Song.”
