Orgasmic Meditation was supposed to close the “pleasure gap.” Instead, it led to a federal indictment. A leather-clad Alexander Skarsgård is riding into this week's Take as our very special guest. That's because he's here to talk about ‘Pillion', the one-of-a-kind comedy drama where he stars as mysterious BDSM biker Ray. The film follows his unfolding relationship with Colin, a shy small-town boy played by Harry Melling—who you might have heard on the show a few months back chatting to Simon about ‘Harvest'. Colin begins to discover his submissive streak under Ray's dominant hand, as their complex relationship develops. Alexander sits down with Simon to unpack the film—a ‘Dom-Com', as he calls it—and gives us the lowdown on what a Skarsgård Christmas looks like too. Don's miss Mark's review of ‘Pillion' on next week's show. This week we've got his verdicts on three more juicy new releases for you as usual. First up, ‘Sisu: Road to Revenge'--the Finnish action sequel to 2022's ‘Sisu', where seemingly unkillable action man Aatami Korpi goes on a revenge rampage against the Red Army. Plus, Bizarre biblical horror ‘The Carpenter's Son', starring Nicolas Cage going full Nicola Cage yet again—and ‘Wicked: For Good' – the sequel to last year's musical smash spectacle. The Good Doctors run down the box office top 10 too—and from the top of the charts to the bottom of the barrel, there's the Laughter Lift. Plus your excellent and erudite correspondence answered. Michelle Yeoh has created a legendary body of work that defies easy categorisation. You'll know her from cult classic Kung Fu Cinema, Everything Everywhere, All At Once - the film that made her the first Asian woman to be given the Academy Award for Best Actress at the time. She was cast as a Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies, then starred in the global box office hit Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and the brilliantly chilling future mother-in-law in Crazy Rich Asians. This month sees her returning to the role in Wicked, as Madame Morrible. In person she is warm and engaging, with a fascinating story to tell. We talk about why mistakes help us grow, why she felt like a ‘failure' for not having children (something we have in common), stage fright - and how she almost quit after a life-threatening stunt injury. Plus: racism, typecasting and why her mother is the REAL diva. ✨ IN THIS EPISODE: 01:16 The Journey to Hollywood 02:36 The Role of Family 03:52 On Playing Iconic Roles 08:10 Facing Personal Challenges 24:20 Think Wider: Breaking Family Expectations 25:38 Pursuing Dreams: From Ballet to Acting 27:16 The Hong Kong Film Industry: Early Challenges 27:33 Breaking Stereotypes: Women in Action Films 34:25 Hollywood's Limitations: Typecasting and Minority Roles 37:30 Facing Racism: The Ongoing Struggle 39:22 Stunt Accident: A Turning Point 47:57 Resilience and Reflection: Lessons Learned
Surely Henry V can't like what he's about to do, but he knows enough about what cruelty can deliver. It's 1418 and his forces have been instructed to lay siege to Normandy's glittering capital, Rouen. If he takes this city, Henry places himself in prime position to take the French crown. With this stakes this high, Rouen's starved and desperate citizens call for help from Paris. It falls on deaf ears. The fabulous Edgar Wright joins us on this week's Take to talk ‘The Running Man'—his new adaptation of the Stephen King dystopia. You might remember the Arnie version from 1987, but Wright's is a refreshed take starring very angry action man Glen Powell. He plays Ben Richards, an out-of-work dad living in the slums of a sci-fi totalitarian state, who enters a deathmatch gameshow in the hope of winning the cash he needs to save his sick child. Edgar and Simon talk action classics, staying on Arnie's good side, and why Stephen King called the film ‘Die Hard for our time'. Mark reviews it too—plus two more big movies out this week: a blockbuster and an exciting indie. In the arthouse corner, the Palme d'Or-winning ‘Titane' director Julia Ducournau's latest, ‘Alpha'. In her usual out-there style, it follows a troubled teenage girl who returns home with a mysterious tattoo, amidst a terrifying bloodborne epidemic. And from Hollywood, ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don't', the latest entry in the slick magician‑heist franchise... which has left Mark wishing it would do a disappearing act. Ladies and gentlemen, be marveled as a Kermodean rant is conjured before your eyes! Just a heads-up that in this episode we talk about late miscarriage. I am so grateful to Kelly for opening up about something that affects and speaks to so many of us - it's a beautiful conversation but if you're feeling tender around those issues for whatever reason, we've put in the time-stamps below in case you need to skip that bit. Kelly is a woman whose career has reflected the shifting tides of the British media landscape: from finding fame as a glamour model in the 90s, and being voted FHM's sexiest woman in the world on more than one occasion; she later made the move into presenting and acting. Now it's also just been revealed that she'll take part in this year's I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! In her first interview since that announcement, Kelly joins me for an honest and moving conversation about the pitfalls of fame, finding true love and she gives an extraordinarily vulnerable insight into her own fertility journey and her decision not to have children. Plus; how working on her own self-worth has brought her new happiness. An inspiration! ✨ IN THIS EPISODE: 00:00 Introduction 02:05 Marriage 05:28 Joining 'I'm a Celebrity' 06:52 Preparing for the Jungle 10:56 Reflecting on Success and Failure 25:28 Navigating Personal Growth and Boundaries 26:39 Romantic Relationships and Sacrifices 31:36 Dealing with Loss and Grief 33:31 Body Image and Societal Pressures 35:55 The Pain of Miscarriage 46:39 Embracing Authenticity and Moving Forward

You can find it at: https://bit.ly/4oFyVRg In northern France, Henry V spots a glaring weakness — an undefended flank begging to be conquered. It's the perfect chance to flip the script on history and avenge England's humiliation in 1066, when William the Conqueror launched his invasion from Caen. Now, Henry storms that very town, rewriting the legacy of Normandy with fire and steel. But while victory brews abroad, rebellion festers at home. The infamous Lollard heretic John Oldcastle resurfaces in Wales — defiant, dangerous, and utterly unrepentant. The crown may be winning battles, but the war for England's soul is far from over. To learn more about the last time a Norman took the English throne, listen back to episode 3, season 1 — Rough Crossings — where Henry II settles a civil war. This week Molly and Emese sit down with Crown Affair founder Dianna Cohen to talk all things hair—because let's be honest, it's one of the questions they get asked about most. From breakage and frizz to dry shampoo and scalp health, Dianna shares the science, ritual, and philosophy behind truly healthy hair. She opens up about how her early career at Into the Gloss shaped her love of beauty, what led her to launch Crown Affair in 2020, and why she believes great hair starts with small daily habits. Together, they unpack the myths around sulfates, over-washing, and dry shampoo, dive into the art of air-drying without frizz, and reveal why brushing might just be the most underrated beauty ritual of all. Dianna also gives her take on hair oils, towel-drying, and how to care for your hair in different climates—Miami humidity, New York winters, and L.A. dryness included. It's equal parts education and inspiration, full of practical tips you can start using tonight. If you've ever wondered how to get shinier, stronger, healthier hair (without overcomplicating it), this episode is for you. A Sony Music Entertainment production. If you know me at all, you'll know that I am a huge advocate for reality TV. So what better reason to have a little trawl through my archives than to revisit some of my favourite interviews from reality TV stars? First, we hear from Dorinda Medley, known and adored from The Real Housewives of New York. Dorinda speaks about being approached to join Housewives shortly after losing her husband. She talks about her grief as a young widow and how the Bravo community supported her when she needed it most. Then, we turn to Captain Sandy from Below Deck Mediterranean. Sandy talks about life on board with production crews, the dynamics with her team, and - crucially - what she would put on her own preference sheet. Even if you're not usually a reality TV fan, I hope this episode offers a glimpse into the humanity behind these shows - and how connection, vulnerability and growth can show up in the most unexpected places. It's a pretty special week for guests over here in Take town. We're welcoming debut filmmaker Ronan Day-Lewis, and his dad who's come with him and is apparently quite famous or something? Yes, that's Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, star and co-writer of ‘Anemone'—the father-son co-created drama that has brought him out of retirement. Day-Lewis stars as reclusive and damaged former soldier Ray, who reconnects with his brother Jem (Sean Bean) after years in the wilderness. The pair unpack the film with Simon—including how a 16th Century manuscript partially inspired it, their family history in Ireland, and what it was like to write and shoot an intense father-son story as a real life father-son team. Mark reviews it too, along with three more big movies you can head down to the cinema to watch this weekend—code compliantly, obvs. First up, ‘Predator: Badlands'—the latest instalment in this very loooong running sci-fi action franchise which the classic villain turns hero and the hunter turns hunted. In calmer territory, we've got ‘The Choral' too—a cosy drama about a Yorkshire village choir during WWI, led by controversial new conductor Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes). You might think you know about Malala. But you'd be wrong. For so many years, she stood as a symbol of resistance: the teenage girl who was shot by the Taliban for insisting on the right to go to school and who later won the Nobel Prize at 17 for her efforts to make education available for everyone. But there was another story that existed behind the headlines: the story of a young woman who was only just understanding who she was. Now 28, Malala has published a new book, Finding My Way which describes some of that extraordinary journey. In this episode we discuss her panic attack after smoking a bong at Oxford (and how this retriggered undiagnosed PTSD), what friendship taught her, her views on marriage and how they've changed, as well as the sadness she carries for Afghanistan and all the women who are denied an education around the world. Plus: how she fell in love with a hot cricketer. This is such a powerful conversation and Malala is also funny, warm and incredibly wise. You will laugh. You might cry. The city explodes in celebration: mock castles tower over cheering crowds, wine gushes from fountains, and the streets roar with praise for England's warrior king. But behind the spectacle, Henry is already scheming. Cold, calculating, and relentless, he wastes no time turning glory into power—securing a high-stakes alliance with Sigismund of Luxembourg. The war with France isn't over. In fact, it's only just begun. Henry's next chapter will be bigger, bolder, and even more ruthless. Hormones, vitamins, prenatals, perimenopause packs — women's health can feel like a full-time job. This week, Molly and Emese sit down with Victoria Gioia, co-founder and CEO of Perelel, the first OB-GYN-founded women's vitamin brand, to cut through the noise and break down what actually works (and what's just hype). Outnumbered. Exhausted. Unyielding. Fresh from the brutal siege of Harfleur, King Henry V marches his exhausted, disease-ridden army across hostile French territory—toward Azincourt, and into the jaws of disaster. Outnumbered, starving, and surrounded, the English face a vast French force confident of crushing them. But Henry is no ordinary king. With icy resolve and tactical brilliance, he prepares for a showdown that will defy the odds. What follows is the legendary Battle of Agincourt: a thunderous clash of steel, mud, and willpower that rewrites the rules of medieval warfare. This is the story of one of history's most astonishing military victories—and the king who dared to risk it all. Body image is a common theme on How to Fail. It's something everyone at some point has either struggled with personally, or knows someone who has. We hear from Paloma Faith on the topic - she speaks about being thrown out of ballet school aged 10, because she showed signs of becoming curvy, and that wasn't the correct body for a ballet dancer. Then we go to a part of my conversation with the incredible British sitting volleyball player, Martine Wright. Martine lost both of her legs in the 7/7 London bombings in 2005 and speaks so eloquently about how she actually wouldn't change anything. She is now a mother, a wife, a charity ambassador, certified pilot and the recipient of an MBE. I hope this episode offers comfort to anyone who's ever struggled with body image and acts as a reminder that there's beauty in every version of ourselves. You might know Denise from Coronation Street, Waterloo Road, or as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother in 2012 and a regular panelist on ITV's flagship panel chat show, Loose Women, or remember when she won Celebrity Big Brother in 2012. But what you might not know is the extraordinary story that shaped the strong woman she is. It's a story of addiction, depression, tabloid phone-hacking and the darker side of fame. It's also the story of sobriety, recovery and the surreality of having survived post-natal psychosis to become the mother of one of the famous musical frontmen in the world: Matty Healy of The 1975. In this beautifully candid conversation, Denise opens up about surviving the toughest times but knowing how to celebrate the good ones (and yes, she does give us the inside scoop on being a guest at Charli XCX's wedding). When the newly crowned King Henry V receives a mocking gift from the French Dauphin — a box of tennis balls — he doesn't laugh. He retaliates with cannonballs and a thunderous claim to the French throne. What begins as a petty insult escalates into a seismic clash of empires. From the opulent courts of Paris to the blood-soaked fields of Agincourt, this episode unpacks the moment England's young king turned humiliation into history — and launched a war that would shake Europe to its core. What if finding “the one” doesn't happen on the timeline you expected? From dating in your 20s to finally meeting your person in your 30s, 40s, or even 50s, this week Molly and Emese are talking love, timing, and why it's never too late. Molly and Emese get personal, sharing their own love stories — the heartbreaks, the false starts, the funny (and sometimes painful) lessons — and how they ultimately met their husbands later in life. They dive into what it's really like to date when you feel “behind,” why timing matters more than age, and how to know when someone is truly right for you. We're covering everything from red flags and green flags to money values, emotional readiness, the “right person, wrong time” myth, and what it actually means to treat dating like a job. Whether you're single, dating, divorced, or just discouraged, this one's for you. Because love doesn't run on a schedule — and sometimes, being “late” means you get exactly who (and what) you were meant for. A Sony Music Entertainment production. I'm diving into the back catalogue, bringing you moments of insight, laughter and truth from past guests. These themed episodes are a chance to reflect on the universal experiences that connect us all. This week we're looking at school and those formative years that shape who we become. You'll hear from actor Jamie Dornan, originally released in November 2020. Jamie and I went to the same school(!) and discuss what those years taught us. Then we hear from Senator Bernie Sanders, from his original episode in March 2023. Bernie opens up about being rejected from his high school basketball team and how that early setback taught him resilience. I hope this episode reminds you that school isn't just about exams or rules, it's about the people, the lessons, and sometimes the failures that stay with us long after the bell rings. Why can't women sleep? From tossing and turning through the night, to the 3AM wake-up call that feels impossible to recover from, insomnia is one of the most common issues women face — especially during perimenopause and menopause. Molly and Emese sit down with leading sleep expert Dr. Shelby Harris to unpack the science of women's sleep and the real fixes that actually work. We cover everything from why hormones, stress, and parenting fatigue wreak havoc on REM cycles to evidence-based strategies like CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia), sleep hygiene hacks, and supplement myths. Dr. Harris also sets the record straight on the biggest viral myths — does age really mean you need less sleep? Does “before midnight” sleep count more? How much do women actually need? — and shares what every woman in her 30s, 40s, and 50s should know about protecting sleep for better brain health, mood, and longevity. Welcome back to this How to Fail special, where we revisit powerful moments from the archive that offer insight, perspective and - hopefully - a sense of comfort during life's more difficult chapters. This week, to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th to 15th October) and Elizabeth's new role as ambassador for The Miscarriage Association, we're reflecting on two deeply moving conversations that explore miscarriage, fertility struggles and the resilience required to endure them. First, you'll hear from Sara Pascoe, who speaks openly about the heartbreak of miscarriage and the anxiety that followed during her IVF journey and eventual pregnancies. Then we turn to Trinny Woodall, who shares her experience of multiple miscarriages and nine rounds of IVF before the birth of her daughter. Trinny's story is one of extraordinary strength, persistence and hope. Whether you're personally affected or simply listening with empathy, I hope these stories bring you comfort, connection or a new perspective.
