This episode is brought to you by DoDay Hobart Run The Bridge. Brett & Joel shed light on one of their favourite races on the Australian calendar before taking the listeners through Patreon housekeeping. This includes an announcement of our next special series (which will run weekly in addition to The Summer Show and all the extra bonus content. You'd be silly to miss this one. We have FTK hats and FTK perfume dropping next week (remember FTK Patreon's receive early access to merch and 20% off the entire store. TRAINING WEEKS This week it's Jude who's flying in km reps on the aqueduct at Falls Creek and is able to back it up with an even more impressive session on Friday morning. Seriously this man is flying. Jack lays down another solid week of training before the two hint at their upcoming American indoor campaign. Joel gets through km reps unscathed and has one of his best threshold workouts in recent memory. THE BIG Q This week Joel's athlete Danny writes in about cross training with a upper leg nerve injury. The three guys all talk from their personal perspectives about how best to tackle a situation like this. After answering the question Jack, Joel and Jude all have a laugh at one of Jude's recent cross-training related stories. GIVE SOME KUDOS Joel hypes up Yoshi and his family for driving all the way from Melbourne to treat himself, Brett & Ryoji before cooking a Japanese banquet feast for the entire MTC training group. Jack highlights his love for coconut water - Joel backs this statement up however Jude likens it to "corn-flakes-water". Lastly you've probably seen lots of him across the MTC socials but Jude delivers a hefty amount of kudos to our Japanese training partner Ryoji - the happiest man on the mountain. TWHSOITWTWATSA Joel brings up a Burger King marathon, Jack is certainly unsure about the Houston Half Mara finish and Jude brings up a social media comment from an Australian UFC star (or as Joel calls it - fighting sports). The episode closes out with an absolutely wild story about one of Jack and Joel's old friends Callum "Buddha" Drake. This week marks the 10th anniversary of the first movie based on Persona 3, a game that is one of our all-time favorites here at Japanimation Station. We reviewed each of those films as they released over on The Weekly Stuff Podcast, and hold them in extremely high regard as some of the greatest video game adaptations of all time, in any medium – and an undeniably great work of anime. So this week, as a special Thanksgiving bonus, we're bringing back our original Persona 3 movie reviews, re-edited and remastered, for Japanimation Station. That continues today with the third film, Falling Down! This conversation was originally recorded on February 16th, 2016, and it finds our investment in these films only growing deeper, as Falling Down tackles one of the trickier stretches of the game to adapt, and finds an incredibly effective lens through which to view the story via the character of Ryoji. If anything, these movies just keep getting better. Enjoy, and come back tomorrow for our review of the fourth and final Persona 3 movie, Winter of Rebirth! David Osman of the IRF is joined by Ryoji Musha, the Founder of Musha Research. Ryoji Musha founded Musha Research in 2009 following a long and distinguished career working for leading global investment banks in Japan and the USA since 1973. During that period, he achieved the top-rating for Japan Equity Strategy in the Institutional Investor polls. In this podcast Ryoji Musha discusses the reasons for the dramatic improvement in the outlook for the Japanese economy. He identifies the importance of the improving competitiveness of the Japanese yen against the US dollar and crucial global geopolitical factors, particularly the troubled US-China relationship, as well as the emerging secular trends in the domestic economy. Ryoji Musha also explains the ongoing changes in the Bank of Japan's monetary policy stance that will lead to the effective elimination of the yield curve control (YCC) policy and other unconventional monetary policy measures by the end of next year. He also sets out the pathway for economic growth and a sustained return to the BOJ's 2%pa inflation target. He assesses when and by how much Japanese interest rates are likely to rise in 2024 and what this will mean for the 10-year government bond yield. Ryoji Musha concludes with an assessment of bullish factors driving the strong performance of the Tokyo stock market and foresees a significant increase in the weightings of Japanese equities in global portfolios. Musha Research was founded in 2009 to provide more direct assistance with financial market analysis and the determination of medium and long-term outlooks. The activities of Musha Research are guided by three principles: adhering to consistent logic; reaching conclusions based on their own beliefs; and using a viewpoint that incorporates both history and a global perspective.

During that period, he achieved the top-rating for Japan Equity Strategy in the Institutional Investor polls. ----more---- This podcast explores why the Japanese economy is beginning to emerge from the torpor of the post-1990 crash that has dogged the country for over three decades. In 2022 a weaker yen has transformed Japan's international competitive position with profound implications for Japan's economy, economic policy and corporate strategy. Also highlighted is the importance of longer term global geopolitical factors, particularly the evolution of Japan's trading relationship with the USA and the emergence of the Chinese economy as a major player on the world stage. Ryoji Musha assesses the outlook for Japan's monetary policy and discusses the future direction of yield curve control and Japan's ultra-low interest rates. He points out the beneficial effects of a moderately weaker yen for Japan's domestic demand, production of exports and the relocation of factories from abroad. A cheaper yen is also encouraging more tourists to visit Japan. In addition, he believes that Japanese equities are now extremely undervalued, thereby potentially encouraging more corporate share buybacks. UKPラジオ第12回のゲストは、POTSHOT / SKA PUNK ZOMBIES / THE LAST CHORDSのRYOJI! MAGUMI(LÄ-PPISCH / MAGUMI AND THE BREATHLESS)の話など、UKPラジオならではの秘蔵エピソードの数々をお楽しみください! 番組を聴いた感想や質問は、#UKPラジオ をつけてツイートしてください! ▼UKPラジオ・プレイリスト:https://spoti.fi/2NKXxsy ▼UKPラジオ・Twitterアカウント:@ukp_radio

Sour Heart by Jenny Zhang (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/545731/sour-heart-by-jenny-zhang/9780399589409/) is a collection of short stories about Chinese immigrant families in 1980’s and 1990’s New York City. The stories are told from the perspectives of the daughter in each family, showcasing the challenges of immigration on marriages, parenting, cultural identity, and belonging. The stories closely mirrored Lin's own immigrant experience, which made the book touching and difficult to get through. In Gengoroh Tagame’s manga My Brother’s Husband (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/545416/my-brothers-husband-volume-1-by-gengoroh-tagame/9781101871515), single dad Yaichi receives an unexpected visit from his Canadian brother-in-law Mike. This occasions Yaichi’s revisioning of his relationship with his twin brother Ryoji, a backdrop for the book’s investigation of Japanese attitudes toward queerness and many descriptions of delicious meals. Question of the Episode: There are a lot of representations of “traditional” families in popular culture. What stories have you come across that challenge that notion of a “traditional" family? "I never thought I was going to travel two or three years ago...it just came up to me...it was some sort of instinct saying 'Let's do it. Let's go for it.'" - Ryoji Yoshimura Ryoji Yoshimura (@ryoji_o_yoshimura) is a veteran couchsurfing host based in Kitakyushu, Japan. Since 2015, he has hosted over 40 travelers in his home. These travelers are commonly called "couch surfers." A couch surfer is a person who stays at a local's place, often on their couch or extra mattress, for free. Meeting travelers from around the world, Ryoji felt inspired to see a bit of the world for himself. After trips to The Philippines and South Korea, Ryoji took a year off from school to travel. In order to do this, he first spent four months working in Australia. Once he had enough money he put these funds towards visiting places like the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, and Iran. Ryoji has fascinating experiences from couchsurfing in different countries and continuing to host travelers in his home. The lessons he learned throughout his gap year changed his perspectives and helped him develop a deeper understanding of who he is. He is now finishing up his university studies in Kitakyushu, which I think is a great testament to not put your dreams on hold. Some of the things we discuss include: Experiences from couchsurfing: both hosting and being hosted. Hitchhiking around Taiwan Tools for learning a new language Developing a better understanding of yourself Global connections and relationships And so much more You can find the full episode description, show notes and links at https://edgeofcomfort.com/eocp3/

Hello followers! We are honored to celebrate our tenth episode with a mix from Adriano Giliberti better known as Darkcell. Besides being a sound engineer for some time, Darkcell’s analog concept’s is based on instinctive use of machines to produce. He is fascinated with the interaction between man and machine, something you might witness in episode if you listen carefully enough. Darkcell is also the record label owner of Fluxus Rec which he founded in 2011. With releases by himself, Myk Derill and Mary Velo just to name a few, the discography on this Italian based label contains productions by artists that have a “no compromise” approach to techno music. In our opinion this is how the art form is best preserved. Prepare to go on a journey for the next hour or so as you listen to Monument Podcast number 10. Heroes Are Extinct!! Volume 1 by Ryoji Hido. DMP , $12.95, Ages 13+. Originally published in Japan 2003 by Shinshokan. Translated by Melanie Schoen. The Bazue Empire has sent its three greatest Grand Galactic Generals along with a starfleet to conquer Earth. Cassiel, its leader, has watched too much anime and thinks that the earthlings possess superheroes and giant mecha defenders. When he finds out his image of Earth is wrong, he sets out to train his own Power Rangeresque team called the Earth Force Terra Rangers. My Rating D-
