In 2006, celebrations including the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Japan-Australia Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation led to a larger-scale Japanese festival being held in Sydney. We spoke to Kazuko Chalker and Yushiro Mizukoshi of the Japan Club of Sydney (JCS) about the event, which featured guests from Japan and approximately 300 children participating in Yosakoi Soran dances. - 2006年には日豪友好協力基本条約署名30周年などを祝い、シドニーでも規模を大きくした日本の祭りが行われました。日本からのゲストや、およそ300人の子どもが参加したよさこいソーランなど、当時の様子をシドニー日本クラブ(JCS)のチョーカー和子さんと水越有史郎さんに聞きました。

A Japanese government survey showed Friday that 75.8 pct of the respondents are unaware of the enactment of the country's basic law on dementia. The result of the public opinion survey by the Cabinet Office revealed that public awareness in Japan remains low even more than a year and a half after the law's enforcement in January 2024. Of the respondents, 16.4 pct said they are aware of the law's enactment but do not know its content, while 4.5 pct and 1.0 pct said they know its content "to some extent" and "in detail," respectively. The JCS Japan Festival in Chatswood 2025 was held on September 14 in Chatswood, Sydney. This Japanese festival, initiated by the Japan Club of Sydney (JCS) , has started in 2015 as part of Willoughby Council's multicultural spring celebrations called 'Emerge Festival,' and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. The festival was canceled only in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. - シドニー北部チャッツウッドで9月14日に「JCS Japan Festival in Chatswood」が行われました。シドニー日本クラブ(JCS)が2015年からチャッツウッドで初めた日本のお祭り。コロナ禍で中止となった2020年を除き、今年は記念すべき10回目の開催となりました。

Matsuri Japan Festival, the biggest Japanese festival in Sydney, held at the Wentworth Sporting Complex on the first of December, after a 5-year hiatus.
