Welcome to Musical Monday. In today's episode we will talk about the 3 versions ofthe song – Kuch Na Kaho Kuch Bhi Na Kaho. A Film that revolves around theThe movie is – 1942 A Love Story which is co-written,Directed & Produced by Mr. Vidu Vinod Chopra who conceptualized war andlove at the same time. A Film that revolves around two contrasting familybackgrounds where the son of a rich & famous politician falls in love withthe poor freedom fighter's daughter & since the film has the backdrop ofIndia's revolutionary freedom struggle, how their relationship was threateneddue to the outbreak of the Indian revolution movement. This background is essential to understand the3 versions of the song we talked about in this episode. The lead roles were played by the ever-young hero of currenttimes Mr. Anil Kapoor & very beautiful – naturally, Manisha Koirala &supporting roles were plated by Jakie Shroff, Anupam Kher & Danny. The male version sung by Kumar Sanu is romantic and thefemale version is sung by Lata Mangeshker which is a sad version and plays inthe background in the film. There was a third version of this song too with acomplexly different tune and lyrics but that in spite of being rehearsed wasnever recorded. There was a controversy too regarding the same, but it wasbrushed aside nicely by the actual singer Kavita Krishnamurthy. To listed to the story behind it and listen to all threeversions, please listen to the full episode and don't forget to let us know howyou felt about it beside Like, Share & Subscribe. Tokyo Vampire Hotel Review: A Fang-tastic Flop That's Hard to Sink Your Teeth IntoWhen you check into Tokyo Vampire Hotel, you might expect a thrilling, blood-soaked horror fest that lives up to its dramatic name. Instead, you'll find a chaotic, over-the-top mess that's more draining than it is exciting. Directed by Sion Sono, known for his daring and unique style, this series somehow manages to be both visually striking and narratively disappointing. Despite its flashes of brilliance, Tokyo Vampire Hotel fails to deliver a cohesive or engaging story, leaving viewers lost in a labyrinth of uninteresting plotlines and hollow characters. The Story: A Chaotic BiteTokyo Vampire Hotel centers around a battle between two ancient vampire clans, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance. The concept had potential, especially with the eerie, gothic atmosphere that the series tries to cultivate. Unfortunately, the execution falls flat. The plot quickly becomes a confusing jumble of subplots, time jumps, and dramatic set pieces that fail to connect. Instead of a compelling narrative, viewers are served a chaotic buffet of violence, gore, and supernatural theatrics, none of which feel earned or meaningful. The series never quite decides whether it wants to be a dark fantasy, a survival thriller, or an action horror, resulting in a tonal mess.Uninteresting Protagonists: All Bite, No CharmOne of the most significant weaknesses of Tokyo Vampire Hotel is its lackluster characters. Despite strong performances from the cast, particularly Ami Tomite as Manami and Kaho as the enigmatic K, the protagonists feel more like props than people. Their motivations are murky, and their development is practically nonexistent, making it hard for viewers to care about their fates. Shinnosuke Mitsushima and Megumi Kagurazaka bring intensity to their roles, but the script gives them little to work with. Even in the midst of chaos, the characters' reactions feel strangely muted, as if they're going through the motions rather than truly living in this world.Visually Striking, But Style Over SubstanceCredit where it's due: Sion Sono brings his signature style to the series, filling it with bold, colorful visuals and moments of surreal beauty. The set design of the hotel, with its gothic grandeur and claustrophobic corridors, creates a sense of dread that almost makes you want to see what's around the next corner. Yet, this aesthetic flair can't hide the lack of substance underneath. The endless stylized violence and frantic editing become exhausting rather than thrilling, and the series often feels like it's trying too hard to shock rather than to tell a coherent story.Verdict: Not Worth the StayTokyo Vampire Hotel could have been a stylish, adrenaline-pumping addition to the vampire genre. Instead, it ends up feeling like a missed opportunity—a series with a striking visual palette but no real heart. With a convoluted story, uninteresting protagonists, and a style that prioritizes spectacle over storytelling, it's a show that ultimately bites off more than it can chew. Unless you're a die-hard Sion Sono fan or in desperate need of something to watch, this is one hotel you might want to skip.Stick around until the end for a round of Movie 20 Questions!Safe travels, nomads.

Welcome to Season 4, Episode 28! George Helm Jr. was a Native Hawaiian musician, activist, and passionate leader. He believed in Hawaiian sovereignty and protecting the land… embodying the values of Aloha ʻāina perfectly. Known for his beautiful falsetto voice and articulate reasoning, he was a founding member of the Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana (the PKO or ‘Ohana for short) grassroots organization that was determined to save Kaho'olawe Island from years of decline at the hands of invasive animals, plants, and U.S. military weapons testing. In this episode, we talk about the history of George Helm Jr., Kaho'olawe Island, and some of the other activists who spent years trying to end the military abuse of the island. The organization they started in the mid-1970s, Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana, still exists to this day, and continues to clean up all the bullets, bomb fragments, missiles, grenades, and more that were tested on Kaho'olawe. Visit the PKO site and see how you can help through donation, volunteering, and sharing their story. To learn more about George Helm, the PKO created a video about him and Kaho‘olawe that's available on YouTube. There's also a great award-winning short film about him called Hawaiian Soul, the book Ho'i Ho'i Hou: A tribute to George Helm & Kimo Mitchell by Rodney Morales, and George's posthumous album True Hawaiian. Avig - Radharaman Kaho - 4.28.24 by Windy City Kirtans
Anthony T. Kaho'ohanohano was a native Hawaiian who served in the Army in the Korean War before Hawaii was even a state. When an overwhelming enemy force attacked their defensive position, Kaho'ohanohano ordered his men to fall back, but he stayed behind. Kaho'ohanohano laid down deadly coverfire to protect his men as they retreated, firing a machine gun and throwing grenades. He was hit in the shoulder, but held his position until he had completely exhausted all of his ammo and grenades. Armed only with a shovel, Kaho'ohanohano was overwhelmed by enemy forces, but killed two in hand-to-hand combat. Seeing Kaho'ohanohano's fierce dedication and bravery, his squad was inspired. They rallied and launched a successful counter attack, pushing out the enemy. When the dust cleared, they found that Kaho'ohanohano's machine gun had bent because it had fired so many bullets. Kaho'ohanohano was initially awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his sacrifice, but decades later, it was upgraded to the Medal of Honor. On May 2nd, 2011, Anthony T. Kaho'ohanohano was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, and it was received by his nephew. He's buried at the Maui Veterans cemetery in Maui, and a National Guard Armory in Maui was named after him.

Aloha kakou! In this episode we are remembering a Hawaiian leader, Dr. Noa Emmett Aluli. A family physician and servant-leader, he shares valuable lessons about how resistance bears fruit and progress can be made. Among other things, Aluli was co-founder of a movement demanding that the Navy stop using a Hawaiian island for target practice. Right now, Oʻahu is ramping up efforts to protect its drinking water from contamination by the Navy. (Toxic foam spill reported 12/6/22, UHWO guide ) It happens that challenging the U.S. military has been successful in Hawaiʻi. How did the bombing of Kahoʻolawe stop? Was it logic? Not really--- it took an amazing confluence of forces. Professor Davianna McGregor of the Protect Kahoʻolawe Ohana explains. Also, it was a heartbreaking loss that shook Hawaiʻi, Aluli recounts as much as is known about what really happened to George Helm and Kimo Mitchell in those rough seas off Kahoʻolawe. Importantly, Aluli and McGregor chart the spiritual and cultural foundation for Aloha ʻAina. Their colleague and friend, photographer Franco Salmoiraghi, begins the discussion with frank talk about landscape and the nautical introduction he got to Kahoʻolawe. Mahalo to Native Books/Arts and Letters and the Puʻuhonua Society for creating the occasion for this interview.
It's November so you know what that means... TURTLE TIME! Nathan and Brendan dive back into the endless Gamera series for the 2006 (and final to this date) entry - Gamera the Brave. Nathan isn't quite as enthusiastic as he usually is for these movies and complains about the terribly rendered effects (yes, in a Gamera movie!) and the guys also discuss the very uncomfortable beach scene, all of the sadness and death, hospitals operating business as usual during giant monster fights and much more. Check our social media on Sunday for the Sunday Screencrap and take a guess at our next movie! What We've Been Watching: The Hidden Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge Questions? Comments?
