John is joined by Parkland survivor, gun control activist, and embattled DNC vice chair David Hogg to discuss the controversies swirling around him and what his party needs to do to fix itself. Hogg explains the rationale behind his plan to spend $20 million through his Leaders We Deserve PAC to elect younger candidates who embrace a combative anti-MAGA stance; why that plan includes backing primary challenges to ossified, ineffective Democratic incumbents; and the ensuing rage among much of his party's establishment, which he sees as fueling a campaign to oust him from DNC role and “destroy my reputation.” To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. Internal conflict could oust two of the Democratic National Committee's newest, youngest leaders with bold yet different visions for the future of the party. A procedural complaint will result in a revote for two vice chair positions currently filled by Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, the first openly LGBTQ elected official of color to serve in the commonwealth, and David Hogg, the prominent Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting survivor and activist. Hogg alleges the revote is retaliation for the separate $20 million initiative he's leading to challenge incumbent Democrats in their “safe blue” primaries, according to Politico. Rep. Kenyatta alleges it isn't true. This week, Katelyn and Christine demystify the Democrats' internal machinations with Rep. Kenyatta. If reelected, Rep. Kenyatta says he wants to win back Democratic voters without sacrificing abortion rights, trans folks, and disabled people, as other elected Democrats have been willing to do in the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election. Rep. Kenyatta outlines his vision for the party: “Make Life Better.” Links:Cancel Me, Daddy's YouTube channelFollow Rep. We spend the whole program with Nadav Wieman, a former IDF sniper and now executive director of Breaking the Silence, an organization of Israeli veterans who expose the reality of life in the Occupied Territories and work to end the occupation. He and Ralph discuss Nadav's experience in the IDF and his work trying to turn the tide of sentiment in Israel against the ongoing genocide.Nadav Weiman is the executive director of Breaking the Silence, an organization of Israeli veterans who expose the reality of life in the Occupied Territories and work to end the occupation. Mr. Weiman served in a sniper's team in the special forces of the Nahal brigade and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He also worked as a history and literature teacher and was the legal guardian at a home for underprivileged teens in Tel Aviv. Now the soldiers that gave us testimonies told us that they came to the commander and said, "Okay, this is too much." And the commander said, "Listen, we lost too many dogs in the dog unit, so we're using Palestinians as human shields."Nadav Wieman former IDF sniper and Executive Director of Breaking the SilenceWhen the first soldier came to us in December 2023 and told us about using Palestinians as human shields, I thought it was an isolated event. But then another soldier came and another soldier and another soldier, and then we understood. It's a new protocol. It's called the Mosquito Protocol. “Mosquito,” is a code name on the radio saying, take a Palestinian man and put him in an IDF uniform, and in some cases a GoPro camera on his chest. And then soldiers were ordered to send them into tunnels to sweep the tunnels or into homes to sweep the homes.Nadav WiemanYou have another protocol called “Wasp”. The Wasp Protocol is Palestinians sweeping tunnels, but this time our Palestinians working with the IDF were brought from the West Bank. And they were told that they will get something from us, a permit or something like that.Nadav WiemanNews 5/16/251. Trump has abruptly ended the American war on the Houthi militia in Yemen, saying in a press conference, “You know, we hit them very hard. They had a great capacity to withstand punishment…You can say there's a lot of bravery there…It was amazing what they took. But we honor their commitment and their word,” per Prem Thakker. Behind the scenes, a New York Times report exposes the jaw-dropping waste that precipitated the U.S. backing down from this campaign. Some highlights include that the Houthis almost shot down an F-35 fighter jet – which run about $100 million apiece – that this campaign used so many precision munitions that Pentagon contingency planners grew “increasingly concerned about overall stocks,” and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)'s reported metric of success was “bombs dropped,” evoking the failed campaigns in Vietnam, per the Stimson Center's Emma Ashburn. All in all, this campaign cost $1 billion over the course of just 30 days.2. In more stunning news of Pentagon profligacy, CNN reported on May 6th that a SECOND F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet fell off the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier into the Red Sea following the first lost jet by just over a week. Each of these planes bear a price tag of over $60 million, according to the Navy, just in case you were wondering where your tax dollars are going now that Trump and Musk have slashed the budget of anything resembling a social program.3. In more foreign policy news, Edan Alexander, the last remaining U.S. citizen hostage in Gaza, has been released. Alexander was born and raised in New Jersey, then moved to Israel to serve in the IDF after graduating high school in 2022. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was quoted saying “[Alexander's release] was achieved thanks to our military pressure and the political pressure exerted by President Trump. This is a winning combination.” Meanwhile Trump posted on Truth Social “Edan Alexander, American hostage thought dead, to be released by Hamas. Great news!” Despite this heraldry however, MSN reports Alexander “rebuffed” a personal meeting with Netanyahu. Counter Currents adds “In a video released by Hamas…last November, Alexander harshly criticized Netanyahu…[accusing] the Israeli leader of abandoning the…[hostages]…and urged Trump…to secure his release.” In this video, Alexander told Netanyahu, “You neglected us…We die a thousand times every day, and no one feels our pain.”4. In a similar vein, the Jerusalem Post reports, “The Trump administration's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, criticized Israel in a meeting with hostage families…[saying] ‘We want to bring the hostages home, but Israel is not willing to end the war.'” Witkoff added “Israel is prolonging [the war] despite the fact that we don't see where else we can go and that an agreement must be reached.” Further, the New Arab reports “The Trump administration has…dropped its longstanding demand for Hamas to disarm as a precondition for a Gaza ceasefire.” This willingness to call a spade a spade regarding Israel's intractable opposition to peace, or even a lasting ceasefire – coupled with a seemingly genuine willingness to realistically approach peace talks – has been a marked point of departure compared to the Biden administration, which “Never Pressured Israel for Ceasefire,” according to Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, as reported in Drop Site News.5. Turning to some positive consumer protection news, “Ticketmaster will now show how much you'll pay for tickets — fees included — before checkout,” the Verge reports. This “All In Prices” initiative is an effort by the company to comply with the Federal Trade Commission's ban on junk fees. The FTC cracked down on Ticketmaster following the 2022 Taylor Swift Eras Tour “ticketing catastrophe.” In addition to the FTC, the Department of Justice sued Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation in 2024, accusing them of “driving up prices as a result of their alleged monopoly,” while the House passed the TICKET Act in 2024, a law that would “force ticket sellers to show full prices upfront.” The Senate is considering that bill now.6. Meanwhile, Igloo has voluntarily widened a recall of their coolers, related to “possible amputation and crushing hazards,” per ABC. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice for a little over a million Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers back in February, on the basis that “the tow handle can pinch consumers' fingertips against the cooler,” risking “fingertip amputation.” ABC reports this recall now includes “130,000 additional coolers, as well as approximately 20,000 in Canada and 5,900 in Mexico.” According to the CPSC, “since the recall was initiated in February, Igloo has received 78 reports of injuries involving the recalled coolers, including 26 reports of bone fractures, fingertip amputations or lacerations.”7. The first American Pope, Leo XIV, addressed the College of Cardinals on Sunday, in part explaining his decision to take that particular name. According to Business Insider, AI played a major role. The Pope told the college, “I chose to take the name Leo XIV…mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical 'Rerum Novarum' addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution…In our own day, the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice, and labor.” In a January 2024 message, Pope Francis said “At this time in history, which risks becoming rich in technology and poor in humanity, our reflections must begin with the human heart.”8. Turning to domestic politics, 25-year-old Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg is fighting an uphill battle to remain in his post. The activist and survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting has been a target of the party hierarchs since he refused to disassociate himself from the mission of the organization he cofounded – Leaders We Deserve – which seeks to primary “asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats. On May 10th, POLITICO reported that Hogg sought a compromise with the party, vowing that he would erect a “internal firewall,” barring him from “accessing any internal DNC information about congressional and state legislative races as long as he was supporting challengers.” The DNC flatly refused. Instead, it would seem they are trying to oust Hogg by voiding his election, claiming it violated “fairness and gender diversity,” rules, per Semafor. On May 13th, the DNC's Credentials Committee voted to nullify the results of the February election, the Hill reports. According to POLITICO, the full DNC could “opt to hold a virtual vote ahead of the meeting later this summer. Otherwise it will take the issue up during its August meeting.”9. In Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Ras Baraka was “arrested and detained by masked federal immigration police Friday when he joined three Democratic congressmembers set to tour a newly reopened 1,000-bed [ICE] jail run by GEO Group,” Democracy Now! reports. This is the latest installment in the power struggle between federal agents and local officials over immigration, an escalation from the arrest of Judge Hannah Dugan in April. Dugan herself was indicted this week for supposedly “obstructing or impeding a proceeding,” per Wisconsin Public Radio. Alina Habba, U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, tweeted, “The Mayor of Newark…committed trespass…He has willingly chosen to disregard the law…He has been taken into custody.” She added in all caps, “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.” Chilling words.10. Finally, we pay tribute to Uruguayan revolutionary, anti-dictatorship rebel and former president José “Pepe” Mujica, who passed away this week following a protracted battle with esophageal cancer. Mujica was celebrated throughout the world during his tenure as president for his humble lifestyle; He was called ‘the world's poorest president' famously driving a beat-up old VW bug and donating the bulk of his salary. In 2013, he delivered a bombshell speech at the United Nations in wherein he decried capitalism and the environmental destruction it has wrought. Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Greg Grandin eulogized Mujica, writing “He was a member of the insurgent, armed Tupamarus, and served 14 years in prison, much of it in solitary, subject to extreme torture techniques taught by US advisors… Upon his release, he helped build the Frente Amplio into one of the most successful left coalitions. He radiated humility and humanity but he knew that power was meant to be taken and used, and behind his smile was steel. He was 89.”This has been Francesco DeSantis, with In Case You Haven't Heard. And not just any Democrat. Malcom Kenyatta, who's also subject to a re-vote for his position as DNC co-chair, says Hogg is misleading the public and painting himself as a victim; something many 2A advocates would wholeheartedly agree with. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- The Democratic National Committee has taken the initial steps to void the results of a party election that resulted in David Hogg and Kenyatta Johnson winning Vice Chair positions. According to complaints, the initial vote disadvantaged female candidates. However, Rich speculates that the real reason Hogg is on the verge of being replaced is because he has threatened to spend $20 million primarying moderate Democrats in the House of Representatives. 3:10pm- According to a report from Politico, internal polling suggests that Senator John Fetterman's (D-PA) support with Pennsylvania-based Democrats has faded—with only 46% having a “favorable” opinion of him currently. Meanwhile, New York Magazine reports that staffers for Fetterman are voicing concerns about the state of his mental health. But are these stories suddenly being pushed because Fetterman has vocally opposed the far-left? While speaking with reporters on Capitol Hill last week, Fetterman called the article a “hit piece” and noted that it only has one source. 3:20pm- While promoting his new book, “Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” CNN's Jake Tapper revealed that a White House physician informed then-President Joe Biden's aides that he might require the assistance of a wheelchair in his second term if he were to continue falling. While Tapper is reporting on these stories now, why wasn't he doing so prior to Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election? 3:35pm- While speaking with Ross Douthat of The New York Times, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) struggled to defend his position that biological males should be permitted to participate in women's sports. Rich jokes: this might the worst answer to a question since Kamala Harris's appearance on The View just before the 2024 presidential election. 3:40pm- Democrat political strategist James Carville is now imploring his party to stop using terms like “intersectionality” and “oligarch”—noting that common Americans don't use those terms and “don't know what the f*** you're talking about.” 3:55pm- While speaking from Riyadh, President Donald Trump announced that Saudi Arabia will be investing $600 billion in the United States economy—focusing on technology development and including a $142 billion defense sales agreement. PLUS, should President Trump accept a $400 million plane from Qatar? According to reports, it would replace the current Air Force One—which is nearly 40 years old—and would eventually be gifted to the Trump Presidential Library after Trump leaves office in 2029.

Our show opens news of lower than expected inflation numbers. Guess the Left and the vast majority of the economic “experts” were wrong about the tariffs. We then move to Jake Tapper of CNN and grifting for his book about how everyone in the White House lied to the press about Joe Biden's health issues. This is not about bringing the knives out for Joe Biden. This is about a Legacy/mainstream media desperate to look like they are fearlessly reporting the “truth” so they can go on bashing Trump with their newfound virtue. It's all a PsyOp. To remind you of their lies, I play some bites of Jake Tapper related to Russiagate. Then we play bites from Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY), Karine Jean-Pierre and President Joe Biden (D) about needing more power to close the border. On top of that, we have more news about how the Biden Labor Department cooked the books by over-inflating the new jobs numbers in 2024. Now that white farmers are being slaughtered in South Africa, President Trump has granted those who flee, refugee status. This prompted the Episcopal church to cancel it's mission to help resettle foreign refugees in the United States. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), the Democrat's Village Idiot, has a comment about educated people. Looks like the DEI rules inside the DNC may cause the ousting of DNC Vice Chair David Hogg. And, we close with one of the most important comments in today's speech by Donald Trump given in Saudi Arabia regarding the state of Iran. After surviving the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, David Hogg turned his grief into action, co-founding March For Our Lives, one of the largest youth movements in our country's history. Last year, Hogg co-founded Leaders We Deserve, a grassroots organization dedicated to electing young people at the local and state level. Through his work, David campaigned across the country and raised over $11 million dollars for candidates nationwide. He was elected as a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee in 2025. David is a passionate, resolute young man with a clear mission: to change the Democratic Party from within. And he doesn't care if he pisses off the establishment in the process. Join Jim and Greg for Thursday's 3 Martini Lunch as they react to a new climate report that undercuts years of doomsday predictions, economic numbers that show a slight contraction in the first quarter, and the Democratic National Committee using identity politics in an attempt to oust David Hogg from party leadership.First, they spotlight a new study from the University of Exeter revealing that polar ice levels have remained largely stable over the past 20 years. The report supports research suggesting climate patterns are cyclical, with polar ice naturally growing and receding. Jim and Greg contrast these findings with decades of dire climate forecasts from Al Gore and others.Next, they break down the U.S. GDP decline of 0.3 percent in the first quarter. They explain how the drop was mainly caused by a surge in imports ahead of President Trump's tariffs. Without the rush of incoming goods, GDP likely would have risen more than three percent. What does this say about the current state of the U.S. economy and where it is headed? Finally, they have a lot of fun watching the Democratic National Committee turn to identity politics in it's latest, obvious attempt to run David Hogg out of its leadership. There is now a challenge to Hogg's election back in February. One of the candidates he defeated says the election process was unfair to women of color. Jim and Greg have some fun imagining what the DNC will look like if this woke approach is followed to its natural conclusion. Please visit our great sponsors:It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. The average American family spends over $24,000 a year on healthcare, and costs continue to rise faster than inflation. Why can't we create a healthcare system that delivers more value for less money? In this conversation with Ann Somers Hogg, Director of Healthcare Research at the Clayton Christensen Institute, we explore the concept of "Zero Inflation Healthcare" and uncover why traditional health insurance models continue to drive costs up. Ann breaks down why many InsureTech startups initially struggled to disrupt incumbents and how a new approach to business model innovation could finally tame runaway healthcare costs. We cover:

David Hogg began his journey as a political activist after surviving the Parkland school shooting in 2018. Today, he's a leader in the Democratic National Committee and co-founder of a group called Leaders We Deserve, which focuses on electing young, progressive candidates. The group's recent announcement that it would spend $20 million to challenge Democratic incumbents in safe seats has stoked controversy within the party – even prompting DNC Chair Ken Martin to propose a rule change that would force Hogg to choose between his two roles. Today, Colby Itkowitz speaks with Hogg about why Democrats' popularity is cratering and how he thinks primarying established Democrats will strengthen the party. This show was produced by Laura Benshoff and Sam Bair, who also mixed the episode. It was edited by Reena Flores and Maggie Penman. And special thanks for the video production to Daniel Mich, David Bruns, Justin Scuiletti, Peter Stevenson and Billy Tucker. Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday's 3 Martini Lunch as they enjoy a rare all-good-news episode! Today, they discuss Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin finally hanging it up, major progress against terrorists, and the escalating fight between the DNC and David Hogg.First, Jim and Greg are glad to see Sen. Durbin announcing his retirement after next year. He's been on the wrong side of almost every issue for 30 years and he may be best remembered for some very ugly comments on the Senate floor. The sour side of this good martini is that Democrats will be heavy favorites to hold the seat.Next, they applaud a major counterterrorism success. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz reports that U.S. forces have eliminated 74 terrorist leaders in the first three months of the Trump administration. Additionally, 45 American hostages have been freed. Jim calls these significant victories but urges the administration to release more specifics to the public. Finally, they relish the growing turmoil inside the DNC. Chairman Ed Martin is preparing to demand that Vice Chair David Hogg stop backing primary challengers to Democratic incumbents or resign. But with Hogg promising combative primaries regardless of his role, Jim and Greg look forward to costly, divisive battles in Democratic primaries across the country. Please visit our great sponsors:Cut through political bias with Ground News's Vantage Plan—visit https://GroundNews.com/MARTINI to get 40% off for a limited time!Streamline and scale your customer communications with OpenPhone. David Hogg, the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced he's spending $20 million through his group, Leaders We Deserve, to primary sitting Democratic incumbents. He's targeting safe-seat veterans, mostly older members, and it's kicking off a full-blown internal fight.DNC chair Ken Martin isn't having it. He's proposing a rule that would ban DNC leaders from participating in partisan primaries — meaning Hogg would either have to step down or drop the activist role. The rule's set to be debated at the DNC's August meeting, and Hogg's already digging in, saying he'll fight to stay. Martin's also announced a $1 million-a-month allocation to state parties, saying the DNC needs to decentralize. The real translation? Tension is so high they're trying to buy unity. But here's the thing — I actually think Hogg is right. The Democratic Party would benefit from some turnover. There are plenty of incumbents who have grown comfortable, complacent, and maybe even a little out of step. At the same time, that's only half the issue. Because the problem with tossing out incumbents is you need to replace them with winners. These older Democrats have won election after election, and that's not something you just replicate by parachuting in a 24-year-old with a TikTok following and a podcast. Safe seats aren't invincible. Primaries can backfire. And while I'm all for change, I'm also for winning. The larger problem here is that you can't be both the referee and the quarterback. If you're helping to write the rules for how the party operates, you don't get to break them for your own political goals. It's not about silencing voices — it's about basic conflict of interest. If the DNC is supposed to be the governing body that creates a level playing field, its leaders can't be in the middle of bloodying that field themselves.Hogg was already a controversial pick. He's got detractors inside and outside the party. He's drawn criticism not just from Republicans or centrists, but even from fellow gun control activists. The fact that this move feels more like a campaign than a strategic plan doesn't help. It feels loud. It feels disruptive. And in a moment when Democrats are trying to project unity — especially heading into an election where every House seat could make or break their control — it feels reckless. The reality is that American politics is in a narrow-band era. Gerrymandering, polarization, and party-line voting mean that major swings are less likely. Which makes every seat even more valuable. We're not in a 60-seat blowout environment anymore. We're in a +5, -5, maybe +15 cycle. That means replacing a proven vote-getter with someone untested — even in a “safe” district — can be dangerous. So yeah, I think Hogg is right that the party needs to evolve. But I also think he's wrong to do it this way. Because if it leads to chaos, to even a few avoidable losses, he's not just risking some outdated Democrats — he's risking the whole agenda. And if he's not willing to see that, then maybe Ken Martin's rule isn't such a bad idea after all.Check out Gabe's reporting at The Free Press!Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:01:55 - DNC Confusion00:05:43 - Interview with Gabe Kaminsky00:25:39 - Update00:25:58 - Ukraine Peace Deal00:29:42 - Voter ID00:31:24 - Canadian Election00:36:40 - Interview with Gabe Kaminsky, continued01:03:33 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. CannCon and Alpha Warrior team up for a packed episode of Badlands Daily, kicking things off with a critical look at California's ballooning Medi-Cal spending. With illegal immigrants and weight-loss drugs like Ozempic driving costs through the roof, the duo dives into the unsustainable nature of socialized healthcare and the systemic economic slavery it creates. Alpha draws from firsthand experience in California's public health system, offering sharp insights into how the deck is stacked against families trying to do better. The conversation shifts to a major development in military justice: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announces the Pentagon will reverse discharge penalties for service members who refused the COVID-19 jab, calling the original order "unlawful." It's a bombshell move with massive implications for reinstatement, back pay, and policy credibility. But it's not all redemption arcs—leaked Hunter Biden warrant details, tensions over Trump's Iran strategy, and DoD infiltration by anti-Trump officials all take center stage. CannCon and Alpha unpack an O'Keefe exposé revealing a Pentagon official openly bragging about resisting Trump, raising red flags over seditious intent. Top it off with a geoengineering bombshell (sun-dimming, anyone?), China-linked intel leaks, Hogg vs. the DNC, and a final dose of comic relief from Nancy Pelosi's public fumbles, and you've got a classic Badlands blend of truth, tinfoil, and tactical optimism.
Hosts: Erin Rider and Marty Carpenter DNC Chair Ken Martin is expected to announce a proposal to change the party's rules to mandate all DNC officers stay neutral in all democratic primaries. Last week, DNC vice chair David Hogg pledged to spend millions of dollars funding challenges to "asleep-at-the-wheel" democrats in primaries. This division in the DNC has escalated to Hogg saying that he's willing to lose his vice chair position through this process. Erin and Marty break down the next steps the DNC needs to take to get everyone back on the same page.
Hosts: Erin Rider and Marty Carpenter China contradicts Trumps negotiation claims It seems like all we've been hearing about the past few weeks is related to tariffs. President Trump said earlier this week that the US is in negotiations with China to to come to an agreement... Commerce Ministry spokesperson He Yadong said today that any “claims about the progress of China-U.S. trade negotiations are groundless as trying to catch the wind and have no factual basis.” Erin and Marty break down what this contradiction means. Trump expresses frustration over Russian missile strikes Russian missiles struck Kyiv early this morning, killing at least eight and injuring dozens of other people. President Trump took to social media to express his frustration with Russia just hours after Trump lashed out at Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky. The relationships between the US and both sides of this conflict seem to be deteriorating... so what happens now? Can a cease-fire deal be reached? Erin and Marty look at the last few meetings between the US and Ukraine and Russia and discuss what could happen next. ActBlue the target of Trump memo President Donald Trump is expected to sign a presidential memorandum today to focus on stopping foreign contributions in American elections. Federal law prohibits any contributions, donations, expenditures or disbursements either directly or indirectly from foreign nationals and governments in any U.S. election, whether federal, state, or local. The order is expected to specifically target ActBlue, which republicans have long claimed could be exploited by foreign actors. Erin and Marty discuss how this memo is going to affect US elections and campaigns moving forward. DNC gives Hogg ultimatum over democratic primaries DNC Chair Ken Martin is expected to announce a proposal to change the party's rules to mandate all DNC officers stay neutral in all democratic primaries. Medicaid cuts in Utah Medicaid is one of the biggest line items in both the state and federal budgets—and it’s also a lifeline for more than 400,000 Utahns. As Congress considers major changes to how Medicaid is funded, the stakes are high for hospitals, patients, and the communities they serve. Francis Gibson, President and CEO of the Utah Hospital Association, joins Erin and Marty to talk about what those changes could mean for Utah. Utah’s national impact with new health initiatives This week, Utah House Speaker Mike Schultz was in Washington, D.C., where he met with officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and later with White House staff to talk about Utah’s state-level priorities. On Tuesday, Speaker Schultz also met with independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to discuss a new proposal to phase out artificial food dyes in the U.S. It’s part of a bigger national conversation about food safety, consumer transparency, and state leadership. Utah House Speaker Mike Schultz joins the show today to talk about that conversation—and how Utah is leading on some of the country’s toughest issues. Utah Fits All Scholarship lawsuit update The Utah Fits All Scholarship program is one of the most talked-about education initiatives in the state—offering families public funds to customize their child’s education. Despite a recent court ruling questioning its constitutionality, the program is moving forward while the state appeals. Erin and Marty discuss what the next steps are for the lawsuit. Home sales lowest March since 2009 Home sales fell to their lowest annual level for March since 2009. Sales of previously owned homes plunged 5.9 percent from February to an annualized rate of 4 million units (National Association of Realtors). Sales normally trend upwards in March as the spring buying season begins so this is extra concerning. Erin and Mary discuss some of the trends in the housing market and how it could affect Utah homeowners.
This week on Ring of Fire! Following reports over the weekend that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth had another Signal chat with his wife and brother where he shared sensitive information, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt went on Fox News and basically admitted that the entire Pentagon HATES Hegseth. She said that leaks like this are what happens when the “entire Pentagon is working against you,” but they wouldn't be working against him if they didn't want him gone. And none of that is a viable excuse for what Hegseth has done. Democratic Party vice chair David Hogg is working on transforming the Party from the inside, and his moves are sending Democrats into a complete panic. Hogg recently suggested that the DNC could start funding primary challengers against spineless, ineffective Democratic lawmakers, and that didn't sit well with the Party establishment. But this type of bold action is absolutely needed inside the DNC, and Hogg is doing a great job with both his force and his ideas. Donald Trump let the Supreme Court know this week that he is furious with them for allegedly blocking his every move, which isn't even close to being true. Trump is angry that the Court has ordered him to retrieve the wrongfully deported man from El Salvador and also that they temporarily blocked him from using the Alien Enemies Act to deny people due process. Trump has made it clear that he's going to continue to defy the Court, which he claims is now being manipulated by liberals. According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, the stock market is on track to have its worst April since 1932 when the US was in the grips of the Great Depression. Investors have lost faith in the markets thanks solely to Donald Trump's policies, and the dollar is experiencing a dangerous drop in value as a result. All of this could spell economic disaster for the United States in a record amount of time. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire Podcast!

I open with a piece from Politico, praising Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) for putting his constituent first by flying to El Salvador. When did illegal aliens who happen to also be wife-abusing gang members become eligible to vote in our elections? It feels like the Democrat party leadership has decided to align with the worst people possible. At the same time, why is Congress doing nothing to help codify the Trump agenda? It feels like they are content to let things ride. We have activist judges who say Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth cannot increase the physical fitness standards in the military. We have a quick call from Kathy Shofner regarding a car show fund-raiser taking place at one of the local area high school's. We end our news-talk stories with comments from the Vice Chair of the DNC, David Hogg. It seems he doesn't like the current form of our "democracy." During the Vulcan Mind-meld segment, I welcome the return of BK from BK on the Air after his trip to San Antonio. We chat about the city and his visit. It's casual Good Friday, and oh what a week it's been. Emma breaks down Senator Chris Van Hollen's meeting with his constituent Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador, as well as the way the White House and Bukele are trying to spin it. After that, Emma speaks with the new chairman of the House Progressive Caucus Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX), who shares his vision for how the Democratic Party can push back on Trump's draconian immigration crackdown, as well as providing a more positive vision for a forward-looking immigration program of their own. Emma also asks Casar about what conversations are taking place within the House Progressive Caucus about the disconnection between the Democratic Party at large and its constituents on Gaza. Casar also talks about his experience on the Fight the Oligarchy tour with Bernie & AOC, and his desire to make sure the federal government is rid of Elon Musk by May. After that, Emma is joined by Some More News' Cody Johnston, to talk about what is happening (or not happening) to counter the Trump administration's full-court blitz. David Hogg and Chris Cuomo take shots at Bernie, AOC and DNC co-chair David Hogg for "taking a page from the MAGA playbook." Carvel even suggests that he might try to sue Hogg for saying that he's going to support primary campaigns against incumbent Democrats. They also marvel at Jair Bolsonaro's latest edition of shirtless hospital selfies. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 4: 6:00pm- Police officials provided an update on the shooting that occurred at Florida State University. FSU Chief of Police Jason Trumbower confirmed that two people have died, and six others are at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. The shooter was also taken to the hospital. Despite initial reports that there were two shooters, police confirmed the shooter acted alone and there is no further threat to the community. 6:15pm- According to reports, the suspected Florida State University shooter—Phoenix Ikner—was quoted in an FSU News article earlier this year. He stated: “I think it's a little too late, he's [Trump] already going to be inaugurated on Jan. 20 and there's not really much you can do unless you outright revolt, and I don't think anyone wants that.” FSU News has removed the quote from the story—leaving an editorial notation of the decision. 6:20pm- Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee David Hogg announced that he plans to challenge moderate Democrats in upcoming primaries—favoring more progressive challengers. In response, James Carville called for the DNC to sue Hogg for misappropriating funds. 6:30pm- Statistician/FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver and podcast co-host Galen Druke revealed that they believe Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, at this moment, is the most likely hypothetical candidate to be the Democrat Party's 2028 presidential nominee. Meanwhile, George Clooney reveals his preference in 2028 is Maryland Governor Wes Moore. 6:50pm- Rich gets invited to the White House…twice in one week! Corvallis/Toledo railroad tycoon T. Edgenton Hogg (pronounced “Hoag”) was always a little reticent about his past. Especially the Civil War part. To some extent, that was understandable. “Colonel” Hogg had fought with the Confederacy in the Civil War. His side had lost, so, sure — better not to talk about it, right? Nevertheless, the real story is so much more bonkers than that, that one wonders why the rumor-passers even bothered with making things up. His story was unearthed somewhat painstakingly by historian Clark, a faculty member at Central Oregon College (now Central Oregon Community College) in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Clark compares the whole thing to a rip-roaring B-movie Western, and he is not even slightly wrong about that. That's right. This is the Star Trek to Dukes of Hazzard crossover that will have Ryan Brutt and I on the same side of the fight….until this episode is over, of course. Plot: Boss Hogg's umpteenth previously unnamed nephew shows up in Hazzard to make some ill gotten gains…only to accidentally fall in love with Daisy Duke. That's all well and good except Boss Hogg, Uncle Jessie, and all of the evil business partners are against it…and to make things worse, the evil guys want Daisy killed before she learns too much! But then the Hogg wants to marry the Duke and the evil partners think it's so sweet. This leads to every body panel on Rosco's patrol car being surgically removed in a hilarious fashion, a massive car chase, a few recycled car jumps, and a remarkable amount of improv by Tom and John. Oh, and they don't get married and live happily ever after, either. And by next weeks show this will all be long forgotten! Show Rating: 1701 Corndogs! Legit Show Info: Season 4 - Episode 1: “Mrs Daisy Hogg” Written by Si Rose Directed by John Florea Original Airdate: 10/9/1981 ======================================== Welcome to the High Performance Expo!
