Covid and the pandemic changed a lot about how we work, shop, go to school –and even how we workout. One of the biggest “booms” during that time was in running. Depending on the report you read, 15 to 30 percent of runners surveyed say they came to the sport during the pandemic! Many of them are still running, and looking for in-person opportunities to get together and run. That's GREAT news for folks in the events business, you'd think. But there are also new challenges for the events and endurance industry. Tim Rhodes is president of Run Charlotte and the managing partner for the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon. Tim, welcome to the BrandBuilders podcast.
Connie's motivational quote for today is by – James Belasco and Ralph Stayer, “Change is hard because people overestimate the value of what they have and underestimate the value of what they may gain by giving that up. Each week, I pause to reflect on my life and business and all the changes that needed to happen through the years to sustain and grow my business. Here is the secret I've learned: all progress requires change. I have also learned that we can't do it alone! So, if you ever feel stuck, uncertain, or frustrated with problems, poor performance, or challenging opportunities, trust that you can create a clear path forward, accelerate your progress, achieve your goals, and help others do the same. I'm excited to share this week's guest, Tim Rhodes, who is returning for the second time. Straight out of his new book, Changing Lanes for Business, Tim and I discuss his simple, proven, 4-step approach to confidently leading successful change - for the rest of your career. There aren't many things in life that are guaranteed but one thing is for certain and that's change. It seems like some of the most important life skills (e.g. listening) have the least amount of training. Change is one of them. For that reason, you're in for a treat today as we do a deep dive on change. My guest, Tim Rhodes, author of Changing Lanes and I discuss this crucial topic. Sometimes change happens to us and sometimes we happen to it. Either way, it's crucial we master it. Listen in to Tim's simple but highly effective process for navigating change. I also love our conversation about creating a life of abundance through simply caring. This is the good stuff! It's a race local runners look forward to all year: the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon. In fact, this year, they've waited TWO years to run it in person! The pandemic canceled last year's marathon, just one year after so many people signed up that they exceeded the number of finishers' medals available. That was a nice problem to have. On Saturday, November 13th, they're back and better than ever. Tim Rhodes is the Race Director who has shepherded the last several years' marathons to the finish line. He's the owner of RunCharlotte, which organizes the 26.2 mile race, and all of the other races that go with it. And he joins us now on the BrandBuilders Podcast to give us a peek at how they're bringing the marathon back to Charlotte in style.
We're dedicated to making this year's Novant Health Charlotte Marathon the best one yet! In a throwback to 2012, Michial Farmer moderates a conversation with David Grubbs, Nathan Gilmour, and special guest hosts Stephen Sandridge and Tim Rhodes (from the Night Cheese podcast) about the television Christmas special. Starting with adaptations of A Christmas Carol and moving through the weirdness of Rankin-Bass, the crossover crew digs into the ways that sentimentality gives way to irony in the course of television's brief Christmas history but never quite overcomes Charlie Brown. Among the television shows and other realities discussed are Mr. Magoo's Christmas, Rudoloph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Alf's Christmas special, and A Claymation Christmas.

Wait till you hear what he was found wearing while driving. Ric Flair ....WOOOOOOO....the guys answer to the "live fast die young" question ... Casting couch jokes so offensive that Bill throws up in his mouth ....hero plumbers ..... sending strippers to your neighbors is a crime ?!?!?!......Tim Rhodes ... Redneck Poetry .. ...and the most unfunny joke Christian has ever heard on this week's Goin in Raw ...
