How I'm Betting on Myself in 2026 (Without the January Pressure)As a new year begins, many of us feel the pressure to rush into resolutions, big goals, and nonstop productivity. In this short solo episode of Reinvention Rebels, I'm sharing a different approach to starting the year — one rooted in listening, intention, and self-trust, especially in midlife.Rather than pushing for momentum or perfection, I reflect on how I'm betting on myself in 2026 in a way that feels quieter, more compassionate, and more sustainable. I share how shifting away from all-or-nothing thinking around diet and exercise, protecting my energy, and allowing clarity to unfold over time has changed the way I approach growth and reinvention. If January feels louder or more demanding than you expected, this episode offers permission to slow down, tune in, and trust your own timing. In this episode, I share:✨ Why January pressure often leads to burnout instead of lasting change
Are you ready for change—but feeling overwhelmed about where to start? You know something needs to shift this year. Maybe it's your spiritual life, your marriage, your mental health, or simply how you're showing up day to day. But when you try to decide what to work on first, everything feels equally important… and equally exhausting. In today's episode, we move beyond inspiration and into practical action. This is the next step in our Wonder series, where we take the declarations you made in previous episodes and finally put hands and feet to them. Because while mindset matters, real transformation happens when faith meets intentional action. In this episode, I walk you through a clear, prayerful, step-by-step process to help you: Identify the one area God is inviting you to focus on right now Stop trying to change everything at once (and burning out) Discern what habits to add, what to drop, and what actually fits your season Invite God into your decision-making instead of relying on pressure or comparison Choose 1–3 realistic next steps that lead to lasting change This is not a “feel good and forget it in two weeks” kind of episode. This is a grab-a-pen, pause-the-podcast, let's-do-this-together kind of episode. love, Brittany Ready to become a peaceful wife and Mama? Sign Up for the Pain to Peace Academy HERE. If you're a healthcare practice owner who made New Year's resolutions this January, only to watch them crumble by February, you're not alone—and more importantly, you're not failing. After nearly 16 years of coaching highly credentialed business owners, Tracy Cherpeski has seen the same pattern: resolutions fail not because practice owners lack discipline, but because resolutions themselves are fundamentally flawed for creating sustainable change. In this episode, Tracy breaks down why traditional resolutions set practice owners up for failure and offers a strategic alternative that actually works. You'll discover the real science behind habit formation (it's not 21 days), understand how your nervous system responds to change, and learn the three-pillar framework successful practice owners use to create lasting improvements. As we step into 2026, many of us feel the pull to create meaningful change—to eat better, move more, and build habits that truly support our wellbeing. Yet so often, these intentions don't stick. Why do most New Year's resolutions fail by mid-January? In this timely replay episode, host Harmony Slater reconnects with health and nutrition coach Layne Stowell for an honest, practical conversation about sustainable habit change. What does it really take to go from paralyzing fear and emotional confusion to courageous clarity and freedom? In Part 2 of our conversation, Coach LeAnne Parsons continues her heart-stirring dialogue with three women who bravely walked the journey of healing inside Empowered to Change. This week, we go deeper—unpacking the exact tools, mindset shifts, and faith-filled decisions that helped them disentangle their lives and rediscover who they truly are in Christ. If you've ever felt stuck in shame, unsure if you could trust again, or wondered if real change is even possible—this episode is your answer. Key Takeaways from Today's Episode Why They Finally Said Yes to Healing Each woman shares her unique tipping point—the moment when the pain of staying the same outweighed the fear of stepping into the unknown. For some, it was physical symptoms. For others, it was the ache of isolation. But for all three, it became clear: it was time to stop surviving and start healing. The Power of Safe, Christ-Centered Community Healing happens in the light. From hesitant strangers to trusted sisters, these women describe how their Empowered to Change group became a safe haven where their stories were honored, their pain was validated, and their growth was celebrated—without judgment, shame, or superficial fixes. Tools that Actually Change Lives From practicing hard conversations in the mirror, to disentangling emotional confusion with thought journals and boundaries, these women used practical tools that reshaped how they thought, spoke, and showed up in their relationships. This isn't inspiration for inspiration's sake—it's real transformation, step-by-step. Confidence Built on Courage, Not Perfection They didn't wait until they felt “ready” or confident. They showed up afraid—but they showed up. And as they practiced courage in community, confidence followed. As Christine beautifully shared, “Confidence is the fruit of choosing courage—even when your voice shakes”. Sustainable Change for the Long Haul Nearly five years after completing Empowered to Change, these women are still growing, still connected, and still walking in truth. They've moved from reactive living to intentional, Christ-centered wholeness—testifying that healing isn't a one-time moment, but a lifestyle of learning, growing, and living loved. Ready to Step Into a New Chapter? If their stories stirred something in your heart, maybe it's your time too. Empowered to Change is a six-month coaching journey for Christian women who are ready to stop surviving and start growing. Whether you're in a hard marriage, dealing with past wounds, or trying to reclaim your voice—you don't have to walk it alone.

In this episode of The Nonprofit Exchange, I had the pleasure of speaking with Crystal Gibson, the founder of The Authentic Alliance. Crystal is a leadership catalyst dedicated to helping mission-driven organizations foster cultures of courage, belonging, and sustainable impact. Our conversation centered around her core philosophy that authenticity, rather than perfection, is a leader's greatest asset. We explored the challenges leaders face in being their true selves, particularly in mission-driven organizations where conformity can often overshadow individuality. Crystal shared insights on how leaders can practice vulnerability while maintaining confidence, emphasizing the importance of learning out loud and being present with their teams. Crystal introduced her book, "Authentic Alliance: Empowering Sustainable Change in Complex Organizations," which serves as a practical guide for leaders navigating the complexities of organizational life. We discussed the alarming statistic that 74% of nonprofit staff report hiding parts of themselves at work, and how this pervasive issue stems from a fear of not aligning with the expected norms. Throughout our discussion, we highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive environment where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities rather than failures. Crystal shared her CHARM Method, which encourages co-creation, honoring existing processes, assessing situations, reflecting, and measuring what truly matters. We also touched on the concept of "mask leadership," where leaders present a false persona, which can undermine team performance and well-being. Crystal emphasized the need for leaders to remove their masks and lead authentically, fostering a culture of collaboration over competition. As we wrapped up, Crystal provided practical steps for nonprofit leaders to empower their teams, such as celebrating progress, sharing knowledge freely, rewarding collaboration, and normalizing the act of asking for help. She encouraged leaders to regularly revisit their goals and expectations to maintain alignment and clarity within their organizations. For those interested in diving deeper into Crystal's work, I encourage you to visit her website, theauthenticaliance.com, where you can find resources, schedule a conversation, and learn more about her book. In this episode, we pull back the curtain on the ever-growing world of health optimization — and ask the hard question: is all this “wellness” actually working for you, or just overwhelming your nervous system? From essential oils and scent triggers to light boxes, nature sounds, and cold splashes, we explore the rise of micro-dosing wellness — and what science says about their real impact on stress, focus, and recovery. Then, we zoom out to look at the overlooked power of your physical environment: how your home layout, lack of natural textures, or always-on tech could be draining your energy more than you think. We also break down the growing movement of analog wellness — printed planners, vinyl, sun exposure, and morning walks — and why unplugging might be the most underrated biohack of all. Finally, we touch on wearables, smart fabrics, and biohacking tech, and where to draw the line between helpful data and harmful distraction. Math improvement plans don't gain traction just by naming priorities—they gain traction when districts commit to going narrow. For one small district, that meant resisting the urge to spread resources across every grade and instead doubling down on a focused goal: supporting grades 3–5 teachers with the consistent use of problem strings to strengthen student fluency. In this episode, we explore the critical leadership decisions that fueled momentum: choosing more and better over new, positioning principals as partners, and building long-term sustainability so the work doesn't disappear if a coach or coordinator leaves.Listeners will:See how a single math priority becomes the filter for PD, PLCs, and walkthroughs.Learn the more → better → new sequence to build momentum without piling on.Hear how measured success came from cultivating “bright spots”—teacher leaders modeling and sharing success with peers.Discover how sustainable supports were layered in by embedding problem strings into PLCs, coaching cycles, and administrator walkthroughs with a co-constructed look-for rubric.Listen now to see exactly how going narrow creates a math flywheel—so your PD shows up in classrooms and your results compound across the year. Not sure what matters most when designing math improvement plans? On this episode of RNT Fitness Radio, I'm joined by Sumit Pal, who in the last 12 months at RNT has absolutely crushed it with his health, fitness, and overall lifestyle change. Sumit is over 20 kilos down now. One of his drivers when he first started was to have the energy and vitality to be at his absolute best as a dad and to help instil long-term lifestyle habits with the family. He's not only accomplished those two, he's also hit his third goal which was to improve his performance on the cricket pitch. As a recreational cricketer, he's gone from playing in the over 40s to now knocking it about with the 20 year olds. In this episode, Sharona and Boz dive into the essential role of community in grading reform. They reflect on their own journeys—Boz beginning with a supportive colleague and PLCs in K-12, and Sharona starting out largely on her own in higher ed—and how those experiences shaped their perspectives. Together, they explore why building communities of practice is critical not only for getting started and avoiding burnout but also for ensuring sustainability and institutional change. The conversation highlights:The importance of professional learning communities (PLCs) and faculty learning communities (FLCs) as vehicles for change. How shared spaces like the Grading Conference, Slack groups, and disciplinary networks provide support, momentum, and new ideas. The differences and overlaps between K-12 and higher ed contexts when it comes to collaboration.Research pointing to strategies such as data use, communication, and professional learning as key levers for culture change. Why grading reform done in isolation rarely lasts, and how success multiplies when shared across a community. They also share upcoming opportunities for connection, including the new Alternative Grading Institute (December 17–18, 2025, hosted by the Center for Grading Reform), designed to help educators redesign courses with support and collaboration. This episode is a call to action: whether through local colleagues, national conferences, or virtual networks, community is the cornerstone of lasting grading reform.LinksPlease note - any books linked here are likely Amazon Associates links. Send us a textWhat are you truly hungry for? That's the question that drives this deeply introspective exploration of how our brains become trapped in cycles of avoidance and momentary pleasure. Your brain doesn't distinguish between sources of dopamine—whether from sugar, alcohol, or avoiding difficult sales conversations. The glass of wine wasn't about the taste; it was about not feeling lonely. The second plate wasn't about hunger; it was about silencing shame. Avoiding asking for the sale wasn't about the client; it was about protecting yourself from rejection. When you name what you're truly avoiding, these cravings begin to lose their power.Comfort feels safe, but functions like a barbed wire cage. It promises protection while imprisoning you in patterns that steal your future happiness. The late-night cupcake gives thirty seconds of pleasure but hours of regret. The "one more drink" becomes a cycle that robs you of clarity. The avoidance of asking for the sale feels temporarily safe, but it deprives you of results. These small choices you avoid today become your regrets tomorrow.Breaking free requires recognizing that pain isn't punishment—it's a doorway to growth. The discomfort of withdrawals, whether from substances or the anxiety of asking for a sale, signals transformation. Structure becomes your lifeline, providing the framework for sustainable change. Whether through recovery meetings or following sales processes, freedom isn't found in chaos but built through consistent structure. Every morning presents a choice: numb or grow, drink or recover, hide or ask for the sale. If you can survive addiction, you can survive discomfort. If you can survive discomfort, you can win the sale. And if you can win the sale, you can build the life you've been starving for. When that craving comes, don't feed the fear—feed your freedom.Ready to break free from your dopamine traps? Florian Georgescu: From Burnout to Balance: A Scrum Master's Reality Check Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. Florian shares his experience of trying to single-handedly transform an entire IT service company, leading to what he calls the "superman scrum master syndrome." His story highlights the dangers of trying to be everywhere for everyone and create perfect change from the beginning. Working with a coach, Florian recognized the warning signs of burnout - exhaustion, frustration, and the unhealthy need to control everything. His journey teaches us that sustainable change takes time, and it's perfectly acceptable for things not to be perfect from the start. The key insight is learning to pace yourself and accept that meaningful transformation is a gradual process, not a solo mission. Self-reflection Question: When have you found yourself trying to be the "superman" in your role, and what signs helped you recognize it was unsustainable? Change. It can be exciting. It can also be tough. And it happens a lot in international schools. At first, new ideas and the buzz around implementing them can feel electrifying. But here's the catch: often, the people involved, the processes, and the long-term sustainability of these ideas—whether they're initiatives or programs—don't quite make it past the starting line. So, why does this happen? And how do we successfully navigate the twists and turns of the change process? Audrey and David have been through countless new initiatives in schools over the years, and we have often wondered what makes some changes "stick" while others fall flat. That curiosity led us to Dr. Jim Reese. Many of you may know Jim, either as the previous facilitator of the Harvard Project Zero Summer Institutes or as a trusted consultant in your own school.Jim lives in Washington, DC. After a long career teaching in international and U.S. schools, he now works as a consultant with schools, museums, and educational organizations. Jim has a long-term affiliation with Project Zero, a research group at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2004, along with Dr. David Perkins from Harvard, Jim co-authored an article about managing change in a school to help it last. The article was called "When Change Has Legs: Four key factors help determine whether change efforts will be sustained over time." Each "leg" refers to one aspect of the change; all 4 are required for the change to last. Our guiding question for the episode was, “What are proven ways to bring about sustainable change in international schools?”The Four Legs of Sustainable Change are:Frameworks — Structures that guide and support learningLeaders — People who champion and drive the processCommunity — Collective buy-in and engagement from everyone involvedInstitutionalization — Embedding change so it becomes part of the school's DNAResources cited in the episode: When Change Has LegsHarvard Project ZeroEdtech Co-Op Podcast interview with Jim (2015) Professional Development Collaborative at Washington International School Jim's Contact Information: LinkedInCategories: PD | Leadership | School Change This episode was recorded on April 14th, 2025. As the school year winds down, it's time to reflect—not react on your math impact. Plus, we'll share key insights and cautionary tales from the districts we support across North America. Our biggest advice? Don't toss everything out for the next shiny thing. Momentum matters. Episode Summary In this insightful episode, Erin is joined by Stephanie Notaras, a seasoned dietitian, Director of the Dietician Counselling Skills Practice, and host of The Nutrition Counselling Podcast. Together, they dive into the often-overlooked emotional and psychological layers of nutrition change—what really keeps people stuck, and how both clients and practitioners can move through resistance, shame, and overwhelm toward lasting behavior change. Stephanie shares evidence-based strategies for building confidence, increasing tolerance for discomfort, and setting realistic expectations in a world that constantly markets “quick fixes.” Whether you're a healthcare professional or someone navigating your own wellness journey, this conversation is packed with wisdom, empathy, and actionable tools. Episode Highlights Why change feels harder than it "should": Stephanie breaks down the gap between what people expect from nutrition changes and what actually happens—especially when it's slow, nonlinear, and emotionally taxing. The myth of motivation: Motivation isn't the whole story—Stephanie explains how confidence, not just motivation, is a crucial driver of sustainable change. Small wins are powerful: Rather than aiming for a full “food makeover,” she encourages building confidence through small, meaningful actions within your capacity. What to do when clients have tried everything: Stephanie validates the experiences of chronic dieters and offers a framework for rebuilding trust in their ability to succeed. How to support all-or-nothing thinkers: She shares techniques for helping clients shift from perfectionism to progress-based thinking, even when they feel discouraged. Why clients stop showing up—and how to prevent it: Learn how to explicitly invite clients to return even when they feel like they've failed. The importance of setting expectations early: Teaching clients what to expect—especially the struggle—can increase their tolerance for change and help them stick with the process. Practitioner mindset shift: Erin and Stephanie discuss how providers can move from “fixers” to supportive guides, and why clients don't just need information—they need a therapeutic, individualized relationship. Google isn't the enemy: Stephanie offers a refreshing take on how to validate clients who come in with self-researched (and sometimes confusing) information, and how to build from it instead of shutting it down. The Mindful Healers Podcast with Dr. Jessie Mahoney and Dr. Ni-Cheng Liang
This episode is deeply personal and profoundly urgent. In it, we share our lived experiences of life-threatening illnesses during training and early practice—--stories that are more common than many of us realize, but are rarely spoken aloud. Through vulnerability and truth-telling, we illuminate the unseen and unacknowledged toll that medicine takes on women. This episode is being released on National Physicians Day as both a call to reflect and a call to action. We share our stories to hopefully inspire both personal empowerment and collective change. We hope to offer a message of hope that we can practice medicine differently—and sustainably. Pearls of Wisdom: Healing shouldn't cost the healer their health. Our personal stories show how the cultural expectations in medicine—self-sacrifice, overwork, and silence—can lead to profound physical and emotional harm. Caring is not a competition. We must let go of the glorification of suffering as a marker of dedication. Personal transformation can lead to systemic change. When we care for ourselves, speak up and model new ways of practicing, we create a healthier, more humane culture in medicine. Wellness is not one-size-fits-all. Self-care and well-being are dynamic, evolving practices. Leaders set the tone. Physician leaders must model wellness and advocate for systems that support—not erode—the health of their teams. What's one small step you can take today to honor your well-being in a system that may not be doing it for you? Stay until the end to enjoy a grounding mindful moment—a compassionate pause to honor your humanity and the truth that you matter, exactly as you are. If you're ready to reclaim your own health and joy in medicine, we invite you to join a Pause & Presence Retreat. These experiences are designed to restore you at a cellular level. In this episode of The Modern Man Podcast, Ted sits down with Jahmaal Marshall, a counselor and podcaster, for a deep and honest conversation about personal growth, burnout, and the power of community. Jahmaal opens up about his journey into podcasting and the lessons he's learned along the way, emphasizing the importance of stepping into discomfort and building strong support systems. They dive into managing energy, taking time to reflect, and auditing different areas of life to keep growing. Jahmaal also breaks down common self-sabotaging habits, helping listeners understand their deeper reasons. The conversation touches on the transition from a reactive, boyish mindset to a more intentional and strategic way of living. They talk about the real (often unglamorous) work required for long-term success—like facing fears, pushing through resistance, and making tough but necessary changes. Jahmaal also shares insights on avoiding burnout and the wisdom we can learn from nature about time and transformation. Takeaways Embrace discomfort to foster personal growth. Community support is crucial for accountability. Burnout can be managed through energy awareness. Pausing allows for reflection and better decision-making. Auditing your life helps identify areas for improvement. Self-sabotage often stems from deep-rooted beliefs. Understanding your 'why' is key to sustainable change. Small tweaks can lead to significant improvements. Time management is essential for productivity. Healing past traumas is necessary for future success. Monetary success does not equate to spiritual or emotional well-being. Investing time in personal growth can prevent future setbacks. Resistance is a natural part of making significant changes. Vulnerability is essential for true healing and growth. Transitioning from a boy to a man involves strategic thinking. Recognizing patterns in behavior is crucial for change. Course corrections are necessary for achieving goals. Sustainable change often requires unsexy work. Nature teaches us valuable lessons about time and letting go. Healing oneself can prevent others from suffering from your past actions.
