(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Catholic man imprisoned for accidentally stepping on Quran Since April 27th, a Catholic man has been jailed under blasphemy against Islam charges in Lahore, Pakistan for inadvertently stepping out of his rickshaw onto some papers said to be pages of the Quran, reports Morning Star News. Dennis Albert, a 35-year-old rickshaw driver, was booked under one section of Pakistan's Muslim blasphemy laws that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and another law that mandates life in prison if the Quran has been defiled. The Lahore police arrested him on the complaint of Mubeen Ilyas, a Muslim passerby who alleged he saw Albert standing on some pages barefoot near a rickshaw, and that after closely looking at them, he found that they were Islamic scriptures. According to Open Doors, Pakistan is the 7th most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Presidential debate set for Thursday night President Joe Biden is hunkered down with aides at Camp David for several days to get ready to debate rival Donald Trump, who is eschewing traditional preparation and instead holding informal policy discussions between campaign stops, report Reuters. The face-off in Atlanta, at 9:00 p.m. ET this Thursday will be the earliest presidential debate in modern U.S. history and a critical event for both candidates. Biden, 81, and former president Trump, 78, are neck-and-neck in national opinion polls, with a considerable slice of the electorate still undecided five months before the November 5th vote. Washington Gov. stockpiles Abortion Kill Pill if Trump is re-elected In preparation for “The resistance to a new Trump administration,” Washington's Democratic Governor Jay Inslee is stockpiling Abortion Kill Pills, reports ThePostMillennial.com. After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against a challenge to Biden's Food and Drug Administration which allowed the Abortion Kill Pill to be sent through the mail without an in-person doctor consultation, leaders of the Democratic Party are preparing in case a new Trump administration rescinds the approval or uses the 1873 Comstock Act to criminalize mailing the drug across state lines. According to a New York Times article, Governor Inslee's stockpile of the Abortion Kill Pill is locked away in a state warehouse.  Inslee is one of at least five Democratic governors who have established stockpiles of Mifepristone. The others are the governors of California, Massachusetts, New York, and Oregon. Tennessee governor calls for 30 days of prayer and fasting in July In contrast to the radical leftist antics of the Washington Democratic State Governor, Tennessee Republican Governor Bill Lee made a great decision. In what has been described as an “historic gesture,” Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has signed a bill calling for 30 days of prayer and fasting beginning July 1 in the Volunteer State. Tennessee House Joint Resolution 0803 asks the people of the state “to seek God's hand of mercy and healing on Tennessee.” A letter signed by Tennessee state Senator Mark Pody and Representative Monty Fritts accompanying the resolution invites “those who are physically able and spiritually inclined to do so to join in a 30-day season of prayer and intermittent fasting for the month of July as a means of humbling ourselves to receive God's grace, mercy, and blessing in Tennessee and in our Nation.” The language of the legislators is reminiscent of 2 Chronicles 7:14 in which God says, “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Couple discovers abandoned newborn A Katy, Texas couple was shocked on Saturday, June 15th, while out for a family walk, to discover an abandoned newborn baby girl with her umbilical cord still attached, reports FaithWire.com. Daniela Fedele told KHOU-TV that she and her husband noticed a towel on the ground, as her 3-year-old biked toward it, and immediately realized a baby was wrapped inside. FEDELE: “I noticed two little feet moving. My husband was right behind me with the dogs, and I yelled to my husband. ‘A baby, a baby!' And then my husband [was] like, ‘Call 911!' And that's what we did.” They moved the baby out of the heat and into a shaded area while waiting for police. FEDELE: “Once my husband went ahead and picked up the baby, he found the nearest tree right there at that house down the street. He found a little shade.” Fedele said she's in shock over the ordeal, and is struggling to understand why someone would leave the child. FEDELE: “This image has been going on through my head so many times. How can you do that? I was shocked. I was mad. I was upset.” Ultimately, Fedele said she's grateful her family went for a walk and discovered the baby. FEDELE: “I don't know [what] made us go for a walk this morning. We usually do, but sometimes, you know, you just don't want to do it, things happen. But, this morning, we're, like, ‘No let's go ahead and get out.'” I know Who made them go for a walk.  The answer is clear. Almighty God Himself, in His compassionate providence, prompted them to go on that walk. Psalm 115:3 says, “Our God is in Heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the news of the baby's discovery. GONZALEZ: “The baby was a newborn. Still had fresh placenta on the baby. So, it was freshly born this morning. I praised her.  I said, ‘You were in the right place at the right time.' The two witnesses that were thankfully walking on the trail, with their child and their dogs, were blessing.” According to a video taken from a neighbor's Ring camera on their doorbell, just two minutes before Danielle Fidele and her husband discovered the helpless baby girl, a young, slim Hispanic or White male with a fair complexion and black hair placed the baby, wrapped in the blanket on the ground and then ran away. According to the Houston Chronicle, the man, if identified, could face child abandonment charges. When KHOU-TV interviewed Brittney Barnes, a neighbor, she said this. BARNES: “It's still a little disheartening that the baby got left. It's hot. Somebody must have been going through something to have left their child there. But to find out that the baby was okay was a reliever.” The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the baby was found in good condition and will remain hospitalized as they try to locate her family. Fedele urged any young couple who feel trapped by a new baby to consider better options. FEDELE: “You can drop it off at a fire station, a police station, a hospital. But don't leave the baby!” Indeed, under the Baby Moses law, named after the baby rescued from the floating basket in the Nile River in Exodus 2:10, anyone who feels they are unable to care for a newborn younger than 60 days can drop off the child at a Safe Haven and avoid prosecution. As Daniela Fedele pointed out, Safe Havens include places like hospitals or fire stations. Oggi il Sole 24 Ore dedica due pagine al patrimonio degli italiani. Le famiglie faticano a risparmiare e la ricchezza netta, tenendo conto dell impatto dell inflazione, si sta assottigliando. Dall analisi dei dati pubblicati a metà gennaio dalla Banca d Italia e da Istat sul patrimonio posseduto, al netto delle passività, emerge un trend stagnante negli ultimi 12 anni che neanche i fenomeni più recenti post pandemia - l impennata dei prezzi delle attività finanziarie e il boom del depositi - sono riusciti a invertire. Il risultato è che la ricchezza netta delle famiglie alla fine del 2022 ha toccato i 176mila euro pro capite, il valore più basso se confrontato con quello delle altre grandi economie occidentali, in particolare di Francia, Germania, Regno Unito o Stati Uniti. Risulta lievemente inferiore solo in Spagna dove, però, l ultimo dato disponibile è fermo al 2021. Nel 2009 le famiglie italiane erano le più ricche di tutti, con 159.700 euro pro capite, un dato superiore anche a quello delle famiglie statunitensi (152.300 euro), seguite da quelle francesi (137.400 euro). Un primato raggiunto per aver saputo resistere alla crisi finanziaria post Lehman Brothers, grazie al forte peso del mattone nella composizione della ricchezza. Così all inizio del 2000 il patrimonio in mano agli italiani a livello pro-capite era del 50% più alto di quello dei tedeschi. Nel 2022, invece, il dato italiano risulta il 35% più basso e la forbice tra le famiglie dei due paesi si sta allargando (nel 2021 il gap era del 21,2 per cento): la ricchezza netta pro capite dei tedeschi negli ultimi anni è lievitata in modo progressivo, con uno sprint del +5,5% nel 2022. Il perno delle attività degli italiani, spiega Fedele de Novellis di Ref Ricerche resta la casa: «Il mattone resta una scelta stabilizzante - aggiunge - ma ha delle conseguenze. Con questa asset allocation l impatto dell aumento dei prezzi delle attività finanziarie risulta più contenuto». Ma «I prezzi delle case, tranne a Milano o in altri pochi grandi centri, non sono aumentati come all'estero. Di contro il mercato azionario è salito, ma qui solo l'1,3% delle famiglie detiene azioni», commenta Fedele De Novellis. Nel frattempo, tra le attività finanziarie c'è stata una rimodulazione. Quasi un terzo dato costante è costituito da contante e depositi. Forte è la disaffezione dai titoli, compresi quelli del debito pubblico, che costituivano un quinto del totale nel 2011 e pesano meno di un ventesimo nel 2022, forse anche a causa della riduzione dei rendimenti (poi risaliti negli ultimi due anni di pari passo con l'aumento dei tassi). Intanto Un recupero del potere d'acquisto dei salari "dopo le perdite subite", grazie agli aumenti e al calo dei prezzi "è fisiologico e potrà sostenere i consumi e la ripresa dell'economia". Lo afferma il governatore della Banca d'Italia Fabio Panetta nel suo intervento all'Assiom Forex secondo cui "oggi la probabilità che un ipotetico rafforzamento della dinamica salariale dia il via a una tardiva rincorsa salari-prezzi è esigua" e "se si leggono i dati con attenzione" le "preoccupazioni si attenuano".Ma il recupero del potere d'acquisto che tasso di conversione avrà nell'economia reale? C'è il rischio che parte dei maggiori soldi a disposizione nei portafogli degli italiani finiscano, anche a causa dei timori di questi tempi, fermi in un conto corrente o immobilizzati nell'acquisto di una casa? E il rischio dietro l'angolo è questa modalità possa diventare strutturale. Una trend che si può ribaltare solo in presenza di una ripresa dei consumi interni, che ad ora non mostrano pochi cenni di vita. Solo infatti con una ripresa delle vendite al dettaglio dicono alcuni esperti la Cina tornerà a crescere con i ritmi precedenti. Nel mese di gennaio, secondo il National Bureau of Statistics, l'inflazione ha registrato un decremento tendenziale dello 0,8%, dopo il -0,3% del mese precedente e rispetto al -0,5% atteso dagli analisti. Si è trattato del quarto calo consecutivo e del calo più grande dal 2009. I prezzi dei prodotti alimentari sono diminuiti del 5,9% e i prezzi non alimentari sono aumentati dello 0,4%. I prezzi delle auto stanno scendendo al ritmo più veloce da almeno 22 anni. Scendendo ancora più nei dettagli, il prezzo della carne è diminuito dell'11,6% (di cui il prezzo della carne di maiale alimento chiave della cucina cinese è sceso del 17,3%), il prezzo della frutta fresca è sceso del 9,1%, il prezzo delle uova è diminuito del 6,4%. Nonostante ciò i risparmiatori cinesi che hanno il 70% dei loro risparmi nel settore immobiliare sanno che perderanno denaro e risparmi. Di conseguenza stanno tagliando la spesa. La Cina sta nuovamente esportando deflazione. L'Europa sentirà questa pressione prima poiché perderà competitività nella sua base industriale, come dimostrato dalle difficoltà delle esportazioni tedesche. La Cina è in una Balance Sheet Recession creata da investimenti pari al 40% del PIL in 10 anni nel settore delle Infrastrutture e nel settore immobiliare. Il timone passa a Vitol: cessione da 1,7 miliardiLa famiglia Moratti dice addio a Saras affidandone la quota di controllo del 35% a Vitol, il gruppo petrolifero svizzero-olandese che poi lancerà un offerta pubblica in Piazza Affari sulla restante quota del capitale. Finisce un era per la società divenuta, nel tempo, la terza realtà italiana del settore petrolifero e una delle maggiori attività industriali del Paese, la prima in Sardegna. «Dopo 62 anni dalla sua fondazione avvenuta ad opera di mio padre ha annunciato ieri il presidente e amministratore delegato Massimo Moratti con i miei nipoti Angelo e Gabriele ed i miei figli Angelomario e Giovanni, ho ritenuto che la miglior garanzia per il futuro successo della raffineria di Sarroch fosse l aggregazione con un primario operatore industriale del settore energetico globale, qual è Vitol, dotato di risorse relazionali, finanziarie e manageriali necessarie per competere nell attuale contesto di mercato internazionale». Si tratta di un operazione da 1,7 miliardi, considerata la totalità del capitale, mentre i Moratti incasseranno circa 595 milioni per la cessione della loro quota di maggioranza relativa. «Ritengo che questa operazione sarà positiva per tutti gli azionisti, per le maestranze, per i clienti e tutti gli altri stakeholders, che ringrazio per la fiducia che ci hanno sempre accordato. Oggi Saras è una società solida e profittevole, leader nell intero bacino del Mediterraneo», ha affermato il presidente Massimo Moratti. L'intesa prevede la cessione del pacchetto custodito dalla famiglia Moratti al prezzo di 1,75 euro per azione, un valore che incorpora un premio del 30% rispetto alla media giornaliera ponderata per i volumi dei 12 mesi precedenti alla data del 6 febbraio. Al completamento dell operazione, l intera partecipazione detenuta dalla Famiglia Moratti in Saras sarà trasferita a Vitol. Ne parliamo con Monica D'Ascenzo de Il Sole 24 Ore.
